Title: Forum made *Legendary Member
Post by: Upgrade00 on December 05, 2019, 05:06:14 AM
Lots of threads similar to this have been made recently, and while it's a little cliche, it's also evidence of the fact that the merit system is working and it's possible to rank up organically if you put effort into what post and try to be helpful to others while being relevant

A little over four months ago I became a full member on the forum, and I now earned enough merits to become a Sr. Member, and I'm now a Hero member. Mine is not the fastest rise to this rank, nor is the rank the highest, but it is a milestone achievement in my Bitcoin and bitcointalk journey. This journey has been very beneficial and has improved my knowledge of various aspects of the technology and has allowed me to explore many many other areas of it. I could make a long-winded post about my ranking up, but newbies should recognize the keyword which is effort.

I use the phrase: forum made, even though all my merits are earned, because I recognize the contribution of the community members towards mine and the ranking up of so many other members and also because what I post is gotten from what I learn when I read the post of others.

The obvious next target is Hero Legendary Member, but first I'll have to learn more, improve on my discussions and also explore the other areas of the forum.

Some of my contributions (topics);

Congratulations to you, for achieving the rank position as a member of Sr.

You need more Merit to step towards the Hero, of course with good ideas and posts that are meaningful to everything here that you have.

Everything can be achieved with a strong will and will, nothing is impossible while we want, on and on.

The obvious next target is Hero Member, but first I'll have to learn more, improve on my discussions and also explore the other areas of the forum.

Congratulations on ranking up, you'll surely become a hero member soon as you already have a good activity already.
Earning merit for you is not a problem as you have ranked up easily to Full member, now a sr member already.
You will continue to contribute to the forum, expect your reputation will be good and of course with you valuable post, you will continue to earn merits that will help you achieve your next target.

but it is a milestone achievement in my Bitcoin and bitcointalk journey.
I agree.  You registered here well after the merit system started, and it isn't easy to get to Sr. Member from scratch so congratulations.

The obvious next target is Hero Member, but first I'll have to learn more, improve on my discussions and also explore the other areas of the forum.
You don't necessarily have to learn more, you just have to continue making posts that catch the eye of members who've got merits to give.  Since you've already earned over 250 merits, you're obviously doing something right.  You'll get to Hero eventually, and I hope for you that it doesn't take over a year, which is about how long it took for you to earn your first 250 merits.

I took a look at your merit page, and it's obvious you've got a few merit fans.  It's also good that you're giving a lot of merits to others.  I'll take a look through your post history and see if I can help you out a little.

First of I would like to congratulate your success one ranking up to the Sr. Member rank and I'm sure that you can reach the remaining higher ranks we have with the pos quality you have but I like to point out that we might be thinking that “effort” is something we need to earn merits which isn't really the case. If you are a spammer or shit poster or just a person who reads the title of the thread and post yeah sure you need a little bit more effort than that. But to be honest a forum is made not just so we can post but we literally need to read and learn before we can even post, that's not called effort because that's how a forum should properly work. This kind of common practice is just overshadowed by sig campaigns and bounties amking a lot of members to post first rather than read making their posts quality low.

...
I appreciate your merits and the encouragement from you and others on this thread. I would continue to contribute to the forum as best as I can. Fingers crossed, in the hope that it doesn't take over a year.
...
I agree, the forum should be interactive, and knowledge should be shared between members. But most do not make any effort to join discussions qualitatively.

Edit: Created this thread to be a motivation for lower-ranking members. The forum rewards efforts.
Moving this back to beginners and help

I'd to say a big congratulations to you on your rank promotiton Senior Member. It's not every day I see a Nigerian go past the hurdles of newbies, jr members and other lower ranks to reach Full member, let alone get to Sr. Member. It's a really cool feat. kudos to you. You're an inspiration to me and other nigerians who feel the merit system is a stumbling block. Kudos to you. Congratulations once again, you rock bro. Na we we.

Season greetings to you and thank you for the kind words. The merit system should be seen as a motivation to put more effort into our posts, as it is designed to reward quality contributions. The best part is the knowledge you pick up along the way.
Thanks again and I'm sure you inspire others as well.

Upgrade00 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2423488), You look faster than me in terms of reaching the rank of senior member. I registered this account on March 3, 2018 and you October 4, 2018. But thanks to the quality of your posts, you are promoted faster to senior members than me. I achieved it a few days ago, and I hope you also read it here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5211323.0).
I think this can inspire people, there is no ranking limit when we ourselves want to advance and improve the quality of posts. That is an important point to remember, because there are still some of them who still complain because of difficulties in getting merit. We are a new era of newbie, hopefully the story of our journey to reach the ranks can inspire many others.

So I welcome your new senior ranking, even though it seems it is too late for you now. Congratulations Upgrade00 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2423488).  ;)

Many newbie members complain that the merit system is unfair and that their good posts cannot get merits.
This is why testimonials like yours that prove otherwise are very important.
I wish you many more achievements like this in the forum and to become a legendary soon  ;D ;D

It's always nice to see another successful self-made Senior rank. I also did the same thing as you, I started from Newbie rank and finally can be a self-made Senior rank. Of course, it is not an easy work to reach 250+ merits, but nothing impossible if trying with serious and hard efforts. Yes, efforts without improving knowledge and your skills both in writing posts and constructing an idea/opinion, won't get optimum results. Also, don't forget that giving positive contributions and dedication to Forum will make people appreciate you. Good luck for your next target (Hero rank). Great job, mate!!  :)

Well, you have done an impressive effort, buddy. I know it is quite difficult to improve our ranks but it is not the reason to stop efforts and dream to achieve higher ranks. You have proven it that serious efforts and continuous progress will always work well and proven. Being a good poster is sometimes not easy enough. however, it doesn't mean that it can limit our ways to improve our efforts. I know you can do it.
Hopefully, I will also make my way step forward more to follow you and make a good progress always. I'm also still struggling to reach Hero Member. I hope you, I, and everyone who are struggling can really always make good contributions to this forum, make good progress, and reach what become the goal.

Congratulations, I too aspire to become a Senior Member, I do not post topics that much so I do not get that much merit (according to some of my friends, the best way is through posting), I am still testing the waters so I do not have that much knowledge to impart to other forum member.

Recently updated the OP with some of my threads.
I do not post topics that much so I do not get that much merit (according to some of my friends, the best way is through posting)
Posting topics does not guarantee merits. I compiled them as they are much easier to sift through than replies, do more reading and contribute constructively to discussions, you'll gain more knowledge to share with other users

Must have missed this thread when it was created or probably didn't see a need then to drop a reply although after your recent bump it caught my attention and just have to review your account, I'm impressed. You have done quite well for yourself to be tagged a quality poster. The journey isn't over yet don't think so or just like most previous active contributors you'll get stuck at your current rank as a result of your productivity reducing which technically reduced your work exposure and impact on the forum.

Congratulations on achieving the hero status, make it a challenge to double your efforts so you can achieve greater heights. See you at the top, enjoy your stay on the forum.

Good to see that finally you achieve your goal it is too hard to the members to rank up immediately because of the merit system but you prove this is wrong and now you finally achieve the hero rank it takes time and I hope so that I can achieve this kind of rank or position too by having a good contribution of the post and quality contents. Still, I'm focusing my self developing to gain more knowledge and skills on our forum.

It's always nice to see another successful self-made Senior rank. I also did the same thing as you, I started from Newbie rank and finally can be a self-made Senior rank. You don't need to post a topic all the time one of the best things to earn merit too is to share your knowledge and give your perspective to a particular topic and somehow there is a member appreciate your answers and gives you merit if you don't have too much time to create topic make a constructive content which is good too to earn merits.

From Full Member to Hero Member within that short period of time!? So awesome :o. While in my case, becoming a senior member is already a hard objective to meet then what more for becoming a Hero lol (I'm a little bit jealous). I guess that was an unreachable star for me. But of course I will not stop until I make it, I might not be as intelligent as you but I never get tired of giving what I can offer to others. Now, I just depend on how Karma treats me back.

Nonetheless, congratulations to you and hoping you to keep on sharing knowledge which we can learn as well :).

Some forum users, especially beginners or low-ranking member, will assume that achieving the rank of Hero is like climbing a mountain that must be passed with strong effort and consistency. Learning and practicing is the path to the summit and it has become a fact that I, they and others have gotten results.

I hope you can also prove that you also have the quality and potential to achieve a higher rank, hero and legendary are the other two rank you will achieve in the future. You shouldnt always clap when you see other succeed, but you have to be jealous of them and find out how we can do like them. You and I are in the same position, there are challenges we must overcome and they must be as normal as possible and not forced.

Upgrade00, Congratulations on your current achievements. Fight and get another 500 merit, mate.  ;)

Legendary member rank unlocked.
I had stopped paying attention to this thread for a while, but noticed I achieved the legendary member rank today after a couple of years on the forum. Rank doesn't translate to knowledge and there's so much to learn in the crypto space, so we're all kind of newbies (or I am  ;D), but it feels good to reach the highest forum rank.

Special regards to Cryptopreneurbrainboss and other members who considered some of my posts to be mrit worthy, and a for lower ranks members; I wasn't considered a single merit to be an irksome task, but if you can get one, you can get 1000.

Congratulations, you have reached this rank, excellent. Although, reading your story, from the very beginning you did not look like a newbie, as people who first come to this forum usually are.
Tell us about those good friends who dedicated you to all the rules of the forum. I ask this because, almost from the very beginning of your posting, you began to create quite extensive and high-quality posts and wrote many guides about the rules of the forum.
Although even today I see newcomers who competently teach everyone how to live on this forum.:)
Unfortunately, my path was not so beaten, and I did not immediately learn that ranks are of great importance here.

Congratulations, you are now part of a club of members who can call themselves self-made legendaries. Although I started as a Hero when the merit system was introduced, I am also a member of the club after earning +1000 merits as well.  8)

You might want to edit a few things in your OP:

A little over four months ago I became a full member on the forum, and I now earned enough merits to become a Sr. Member, and I'm now a Hero member.
You aren't anymore...

The obvious next target is Hero Legendary Member, but first I'll have to learn more, improve on my discussions and also explore the other areas of the forum.

Come on, this is delightful. I've got to give it to you mate, your strong. Not so many would be able to keep up after getting to a certain rank, especially those in signature campaigns. The little penny's just kick in and they are too weak to put in work just like that but not you. You stayed true and determined towards making the forum a conducive, educative in a spirit of discussion and you did put in your work from your quota so, I must say, kudos to you. You deserve the many admiration you would be getting in the forum as one of the most recent legendary ranked up memeber. Sure your new rank suits you and congrats.

You stayed true and determined towards making the forum a conducive, educative in a spirit of discussion and you did put in your work from your quota so, I must say, kudos to you. You deserve the many admiration you would be getting in the forum as one of the most resent legendary ranked up memeber. Sure your new rank suits you and congrats.

I hate to be that guy, but I think you might have meant recent, because resent is a totally different word altogether :p

Your very correct my friend. Too quick with my fingers i suppose, his not that guy @Resent neither am I, you or would hope to see any of such guys around here and I can say we are getting somewhere. The more legends being made by the day, the types that actually know what it means to be a legend and are actually contributing immensely and actively to the forum. We grow in strength and knowledge still.

I stand corrected and it was good of you to have drawn my attention over some impression. A big motivation for all those who are still visionary, its achievable if it is a thing you. Keep putting in work and know you owe it to the forum to rep your rank.

Special regards to members who considered some of my posts to be mrit worthy, and a for lower ranks members; I wasn't considered a single merit to be an irksome task, but if you can get one, you can get 1000.

Big congratulations to you, well deserved achievement. Your track record has proven you deserve to be where you are now. I remember when I achieve the legendary status, while some claim is no big deal, it was for those that have to earn their way from the button to that level, it was kind of a big deal especially when you do it without as much knowledge or exposure as others with the high numbers of merits.

You just have to continue with what you were doing before this rank, which is  engaging in quality conversation and putting out your best to pass out the knowledge you possessed. Don't hesitate or feel relex like you have arrival, this is just a forum rank, don't let it get into your head. Your mode of approach shouldn't change instead interact with everyone as equals.

If you can get 1000, you can get 2000, 5k, etc the journey shouldn't end at you just achieving the highest rank on the forum. Welcome to the league of legends.
