Title: Beginner needs advice for portfolio
Post by: Voologic on December 11, 2019, 08:46:02 PM
Hi everyone im new to investing in crypto.
I have informed myself quiet a bit in the last weeks and constructed a portfolio with 10 coins / tokens.
Since most coins are way under their average worth i bet on a big rise at least to their old average or maybe to their last ATH.

This would be the portfolio:

1. Bitcoin
2. Ethereum
3. Ripple
4. LiteCoin
5. Cardano
6. IOTA
7. TEZOS
8. ChainLink

For the last 2 Coins to complete the portfolio i need your help.
I thought about those coins:

1. EOS (because China)
2. TRON (because China)
3. Waves (Russia)
4. VeChain
5. Steem (Very low atm compared to average / ATH)
6. Energi

Since i only want to include 10 cryptos for reasons of simplicity i dont want to inlcude them all.

I am not a day trader. I want to hold the coins wait for old ATH or new ATHs and then sell.

I am really interested in your opinion. Thanks in advance.

I have been out of the game for a long time, but I think Steem is the best bet, and then id go for TRON.

But, don't base your investments on others' opinions.
DYOR (Do Your Own Research).

Check their price history, check their longterm price pattern, check their future plans and assess the likely hood of them succeeding.

Once you have done this, you should know what to choose :)

One comment I'd make on one of your potential coins to complete the last part of your portfolio would be your thought process with Steem- though a lot of coins have fallen significantly from their ATHs (generally near 2017) and average price over the years, I would highly suggest you do more research and analysis on these coins instead of simply considering investing in them just because they're cheap. There's often some reason(s) why these coins have fallen, and in many cases these coins won't go back up again unless more milestones and significant new developments occur, though I'm not saying this necessarily applies to Steem.

Your choices are as good as my guesses. Irrespective of what anyone might say, the ball is still I'm your court. You brought up the names of those coins yourself. If you can do that, then you should also be able to sieve out the best and believe me, that will be the best for you.

I think you should Add BNB in your 10lists. Because BNB doing great even in bear market.BNB is also chinese and binance exchanger coin.EOS is good to make profit. You should add BNB and EOS in your list.BTW this is my personal opinion, choice is your.

1 diversify is good, but too much diversify isnt good at all.I think 10 coins in your portofolio is too much, you should do 5-7 only

2 how many percentage for each coins? I suggest to give more percentage to bitcoin.

3 overall your choice is good. You just consider the good one. I prefer to TRON and EOS

Title: Re: Beginner needs advice for portfolio

1. EOS (because China)
2. TRON (because China)
3. Waves (Russia)
4. VeChain
5. Steem (Very low atm compared to average / ATH)
6. Energi

The only coin that has a potential to reach the ATH is vechain, another cryptos that you have mentioned in your list are strongly affected by the bitcoin movement. Waves almost touched its ico price and it's not a good coin to buy.

Steem lack of popularity and compared it has already destroyed by medium. Energi is a masternode coin only and look at dash and it has been losing a half of its ATH value. Vechain is a good bet for you.

The risks to hold the old coin and wait for ATH if the investor has no impact on them. I believe only if ATH will be accomplished. But if the project is surrendered and the escape or exit scam we can not do what. So have to make sure their projects exist and real, their team and all of them to avoid risk is very risky at all.

Are those the final coins you have as an option? can you include Binance Coin (BNB) as your option too? it's more promising than the most in your option for the final two. I'd like to suggest Monero too, so that will be the combination of the final two if you'll just take my opinion and suggestion about the last two coins to fill your stash. What do you think of it?

Your first set is good on the second set I have doubts on Waves and you have a good choice on Eos and Tron but you need to understand how these two coins work, they have a good potential in the market, I'm surprised that you did not include Binance in your portfolio, always a contender to be included in anyone's portfolio.

Your portofolio seems pretty great, I think.
As long as you've done your research first about your portfolio, and you have a good feelings about them, well, just be confident in yourself.

For the last 2 coins, I'm not really sure about waves, sine you know, it's pretty much fell down way too deep from its own ATH. Based on the current price now, we are definitely seeing another pump movements from waves, and might also touches $1 price or more by next, considering the current pump and the past prices.

And then I'd go with TRON. On a side not, whathever I've said about about which coin to choose, it doesn't hold any deeper meaning to any of that. It's my own opinion, and OP, you need to do your very own research first.

If to chose 2 from the rest, I'd go for EOS and Tron. EOS is a project by Dan Lamier, though his name is not always associated with success, I just wanted to make you know it's a global coin with nodes around the world not restricted to China only. Tron is cheap now and is one of the fastest utility token. The rest you listed are left behind in development and has stopped to grow.

Yes, I would agree with EOS and Tron, China love those two crypto, so I wouldn't be surprised that in the next bull run, we will see another dramatic run with those two.

Plus Tron have Justin behind, he loves to shill his pet project here, so he can influence investors again with his sweet talk here.

First, that reason that you choose a coin because of China is not going to be a wise decision especially in the coming year or two. The domestic government-controlled China cryptocurrency could be out in the next year or two or even sooner. That would mean death to coins that are solely or highly dependent on China. I would rather go for Waves and VeChain. Your existing list is already perfect. No need to make adjustments on them.

Chinese cryptocurrencies are always well crafted if you are into them that much then go for tron and eos, the seriousness of Chinese people in crypto is why I like Asian projects but do not chose based on what people say, DYOR

All these coins are good altcoin but now you are the one to make this decision not people, do not listen to people's opinion to avoid making mistake, why not do research on every single on of them instead?

In my opinion, you are lacking exchange coin like BNB. BNB is getting hyped nowadays for some reason. If it were to continue then there's a chance that it will increase in price for the upcoming days. Don't worry about BNB getting sucked because it is one of the most famous coins around here. I also recommend doge coin if you want something simple.

From your list I choose waves and vechain, forget about China coins or not I know that are good too but you need to find your reason first before choosing, just because they are from China won't make them better from coins that are not from China, you need to do research yourself

Invest only what you can afford to lose  and stop listening to people's opinion on this forum, take your time to find answers yourself, a project is very promising for a reason and all the coins you listed are all top altcoins, I'd say they are safe to invest on more than new projects, make your choice

diversifying is good but in my opinion for a beginner it is better to only save a few coins 3 or 5 coins. if we are experienced and have good predictions, investing in lots of coins is not a problem.
in my opinion, invest more in bitcoin. because right now we're in the bear market, most of altcoin is losing value. and I think altcoin is also quite difficult to grow. better to invest in bicoin safer and have a smaller risk of loss compared to altcoin investments. and for altcoin I only hold litecoin, ethereum and bnb.
and I suggest always be thoroughly thorough before investing.

Take out ripple and add EOS,TRON and Steem on your list by that you made a portfolio with most best cryptos available and also the diversification is important when you have too much coins onto your portfolio.I would suggest hold more than 70% as bitcoin then diversify on the remaining coins.

since you are the one who listed them out you are free to pick the ones you like out of the list, they are all top coins so I guess they are safer, potential differs though, you should do research on them to pick the best ones

To complete your portfolio, I would advice you to buy steem and Tron. Tron has a community of lambo boys, with low price it can easily move up in time. Eos has lost quiet a lot of value price wise its still a good investment. Don't spree your portfolio too thin have a bag you can monitor both news, community and development.

Your portfolio will grow bigger by adding more coins, my advice is to add the coins on a tracking platform like blockfolio to get regular news pertaining the coins you keep so that you won't miss any future updates or swaps

Maybe for me personally I would suggest to buy TRON, EOS and steem. Maybe you can also consider buying a BNB, from what is suggested by many people you might be able to observe it and analyze it one by one and conclude which one you think has more potential to hold and then make a decision on which coins you will buy to hold for some time. Buying 10 coins I think is a good decision to make if you think those coins have the opportunity to make a profit.

Your portfolio will grow bigger by adding more coins,

bigger portfolio does not always means that adding more coins but it can grow big also if the value of those in his portfolio will grow and also if he will buy existing coins  .  now adding more coin is one way to grow your portfolio but you need to think about it first because its not easy to handle more coins and also its not friendly on the wallet ( your own wallet or on your budget ) . for me i think we dont need to add more coins but its already okay to have few solid coins because you will still earn good on them anyway  .

You have many coins and all have potential to pump but let me give you advice. Take coins from coinmarketcap list number 1 - 3/5 and take it as portfolio. Use your 30% your capital to buy and the rest of it save in your bank. This is for your own safety and minimize risk. Red market will not support your strategy because we don't know market will go.

Its almost recommended in here are always BNB coins, Because this was have good condition of these coins and have a chance to increase the value in a future and as of now the value of it are dump from now but it can recover soon. And BNB are most of the exchange site using for trading, And I will add more coins you want from your list must choose EOS and Tron Ill think this two coins it was worth to hold and for long term coins.

Steem is still quite cheap. I think I would go for it. Reasonable numbers of working products or applications are built on it. I wonder if they have something new to increase mass adoption and improve the cryptocurrency. I guess that would guarantee a price increase.

You have 8 lists of good portfolios for investment in the long run, and in my opinion if you want to invest 2 more coins, my advice is to choose EOS & TRON. Why? because these two altcoins are the highest altcoin and have a lot of users. on the one hand many projects start using their platform, this is a good development for their company. I am sure EOS & TRON is no different from BNB & ETH, they have a good future for investment.

My portfolio consists of bitcoins and also some altcoins. I have good difersification and that's why I spread my capital. We should make sure that our portfolio consists of potential coins and not shitcoins. Traders are mostly experiencing losses than gain because they have worthless coins in their portfolio. Solid portfolio can give us high chance of winning.

ChainLink is one of the most impressive altcoin I've seen so far this year. It outranked a lot since its listing in CMC and were then added to more exchanges which is not in the 17th. Not sure if its pumped but if its added on coinbase, its probably a verified volume.

Of course ETH is one that you are to focus with as well because its what the platform used by thousands of tokens.  Its becoming cheaper this week, I myself is trying to have about 32ETH.

I think you better choose EOS and TRON, because these are the two coins that China drives. As you know recently China has officially developed several crypto projects. This will make the future strength for both coins, I am very confident that when China is successful with its crypto project, EOS and TRON will also be carried by pumps.

leaving steem out of the list I think you should buy the rest, this is a very good portfolio indeed, I wish I can afford to get all these wonderful altcoins but I am more into fresh projects, it's really not because they might be cheaper but I belief better version of ETH will make be released, newer techs always beat old techs

I will choose EOS and also TRON to add. But all of your own decisive decisions, choose based on observations that you make by analyzing and comparing one to another to look for excellence or at least to find out which coins have more potential and have a greater chance of being able to give you profits.

Check CMC and just choose the top coins above top 50. Pretty much all the coins you had indicated already satisfy your portfolio as a beginner. From your choices, I would suggest TRON and Steem. They're quite a trend in this board lately.
If you are in for investing then don't go with those two. Do a little favor for yourself and do some research to really find the cryptocurrencies that are good for long term investing. TRON and Steem are only good for trading but if it is about investing, I don't trust the team behind it and I know that there is a lot more cryptocurrencies that worth more than those.

WAVES, EOS and STEEM, you might consider entering your portfolio, but you must first research the coin to understand more about their project.

This is the safest strategy, but you should know that you will probably need a long time to be able to hold the coins because it could be 1 year or more, then the coins will return to their newest ATH, only advice will be better too have other alternatives for example the time you set to hold the coin and also a minimum percentage of the profit you want to achieve.

I also think like that. TRX and EOS have the potential to compete in the market. for now TRX prices tend to be cheaper, making pumps faster. One of the things I like about TRX coins is because they have worked a lot with partners, and also the intention of this coin is none other than being developed as a world of entertainment, while humans still need entertainment. And also good news as you say China has supported blockchain technology or current crypto trends. The proof yesterday was the president's speech in China, making bitcoin at the pump. I also thought, why did the OP not add BNB to the portfolio list.

Firstly, do not invest in whichever you are suspicious of, you do not need to have exactly 10 different coins in the portfolio. I checked your first choices and they were not bad. But if you still have to choose any of them, one of them must be EOS. The other may be Vechain. Among them, Wave and Steem no longer have their old powers. Also, I have never been a fan of Tron. And about Energi, I do not have knowledge.

If I have listing the coins and tokens that are worth holding for long term it will be a long list that consist of old and new coins, since you go for top altcoins you will be fine, I just like high risk ones they always bring big returns and big loss too, the choice is yours to make

I would definitely suggest BNB as well as NEO. BNB is because if obvious reasons, binance is the leading exchange in the market and more people are getting in everyday.
Neo, because it has the potential to go big and China is favoring it since the beginning.

6. Energi

Since i only want to include 10 cryptos for reasons of simplicity i dont want to inlcude them all.

I am not a day trader. I want to hold the coins wait for old ATH or new ATHs and then sell.

I am really interested in your opinion. Thanks in advance.
I am surprised that a newbie can be this experience to fish out good coins like you have on your list, many newbies will go for new coins both average rating and shitcoins, seems there is nothing much for you to learn here mate, just pick from the list and you are good because they are all top altcoins

Too much drama in EOS and TRON that makes both of coins must be delisted from your list but i feel good with another choice than both of coins even both are major cryptos dont mean if they were good coins to be bought.
Waves is also a very bad choice caused by sasha was doing shady things so many times. Steem is not a popular platform again and it has very small demand. Energi and veechain still remain the best choice from your list but if you can try to take a look at credits blockchain and it's having a lot of potential.

1. Bitcoin

4. LiteCoin
5. Cardano
6. IOTA
7. TEZOS
8. ChainLink

For the last 2 Coins to complete the portfolio i need your help.
I thought about those coins:

1. EOS (because China)
2. TRON (because China)
3. Waves (Russia)
4. VeChain
5. Steem (Very low atm compared to average / ATH)
6. Energi

In my opinion, I believe that EOS & TRON have the most suitable potential to have a decent future. Bitcoin was the first generation of cryptocurrency. Ethereum happens to be the second, with it's introduction to tokens and smart contracts. EOS is the Third generation of Blockchain with it's introduction to shaded scaling and delegated proof of stake consensus algorithm. Tron is a rehashed version of EOS, created by the might Justin Sun. It is the latest in Blockchain technology and has big and open community as well as a myriad of support from app developers.
Remember to practice your Due diligence before making any major investment decisions.

Just my two cents!

If I have listing the coins and tokens that are worth holding for long term it will be a long list that consist of old and new coins, since you go for top altcoins you will be fine, I just like high risk ones they always bring big returns and big loss too, the choice is yours to make
Very extraordinary, you are among those who dare to take risks, because very few people who like high-risk coins, because the average person prefers coins that are not at high risk, and that I often see.

Vechain is a good bet for you.
why not tron? are you saying its not good enough? vechain is capable and yes very responsive to bit coin movement but I believe tron will outperform ETH sooner or later unless ETH team start working on how to get rid of scammers from abusing erc20 smart contract

what are you based on when you say coins like EOS / TRX / Waves are a bad choice? these projects are alive. They are constantly evolving, and in addition to all this, they know how to create excitement around themselves, and this is one of the most important skills for large projects in the cryptocurrency market. it is important to know how to make money

I think you should Add BNB in your 10lists. Because BNB doing great even in bear market.BNB is also chinese and binance exchanger coin.EOS is good to make profit. You should add BNB and EOS in your list.BTW this is my personal opinion, choice is your.
EOS and BNB can be a good choice, because the two coins are experiencing very rapid development, especially with BNB which is owned by Binance as the best exchange at the moment. Invest some dolat in BNB and EOS will be very profitable.

Not many coins are you going to buy? I'm not sure that while you keep some of these coins they will not disappear but still if you take 10 coins, then you need to buy them not in equal parts. For example, Bitcoin 50%, Ether 10% and the rest are divided into equal parts.

there is no harm in choosing high-risk coins, indeed it can provide maximum profit. but to reduce the risk I think a more thorough analysis should be done, and I think it can only be done by people who are experienced in the crypto world

I can't imagine crypto-portfolio without Bitcoin in it, with the highest percentage! Every crypto-portfolio is a nice
portfolio, don't get me wrong, but with Bitcoin and Ethereum in it it looks much better! After all they are top coins
that last for years and make progress more then others.

1-8 maybe it is already your choice. But maybe last 2 from the option, i will pick tron and NRG, both coin i think still active and still have demands for it. For steem maybe it already have it's time in past when their website very popular and a lot of people use it. But that is just personal opinion from me, because Tron i see it used to some gambling site.

I would go for EOS and Energi but of course you should automatically listen to what anyone is saying here.  You must do your own research and verify each of our suggestion.  I suggest EOS because of their active developers, they already have lots of applications where you can use EOS ranging from gambling, online games and other important stuff.

Energi because I just like it.  This project is still growing and lots of people have not known about this altcoin so we can say that this coin is at its poneering when it comes to investors.

Before creating a portfolio, you should do your own research and invest in knowledge. It is very important to have a good knowledge of how to create the right portfolio and to create a portfolio in this direction especially when creating a portfolio. If I want to talk about my own idea and portfolio proposal, this portfolio is ideal for me;
BTC 25%
ETH 20%
Tron 15%
EOS 15%
NEO 15%
BNB 10%

the basic principles of diversification and your advice is correct, but here a person makes decisions himself, depending on what risks he is ready to take. and the amount of money that a person has is also very important. if he has only 1000-2000 dollars, then I would also buy coins for equal parts.

I would definitely suggest BNB as well as NEO. BNB is because if obvious reasons, binance is the leading exchange in the market and more people are getting in everyday.
Neo, because it has the potential to go big and China is favoring it since the beginning.
Binance did great launching their own to add an asset to their exchange. Their platform is doing well for a couple of years now and can clearly see the massive growth of the exchange, however if we are really talking on what altcoin is very strong now I suggest the Chainlink and Energi. You can just search the chainlink on coinmarketcap charts and you'll see a susbstantial price movement of it. Neo is good because of China but I guess they won't let NEO have the control on their country, they might use or create another coin in the future.

The list isn't bad as it is, and tezos particularly seems to be hot right now.

If you're going to add one more coin, may I suggest Neo.  It's underrated, underappreciated, and has the advantage that you can earn a little bit of income while you're holding it.  It's probably a great buy right now since it's down so much from its all time high, tho that's true of most altcoins.

Good idea keeping your portfolio to 10 coins.  Any more than that and you'd be delving into what's on the bottom of the barrel.  Good luck and don't panic if prices fall even more.  Just hold onto what you've got and you should do fine in 2020.

Evening! I fully agree with you here, however sometimes it is pretty difficult to find advanced platform entirely on your own. And this is why rating platforms exist - they help. Talking about you, are there many you can recommend?

The most advanced one these days is definitely Sapien network. In few words, Sapien is a Web3 social network that gives users control of their data, rewards content creators, and fights fake news. And this is exactly what makes the platform much more attractive for users and this is what users are tired of with Facebook, Twitter and else. And guys are already having a working platform, by the way

The risk can be decreased when we are choosing the right priject. but the money will determine how much percentage that really suitable to be used as our portfolios.
So many a good coin in the market. The person must remember if the product can give more guarantee and make the risk become less.

These list are compilation of top projects. But IMO, I prefer btc, eth and the chain link. As you can see LINK created for innovative solution surpassing the eth capability for network and smart contract. I can sense that they will be on top coins in no time. I already bagged some of it while its not yet super expensive maybe better if you filled in to while still early.

Long term you might want to hold a few less of the same overlapping assets as those platforms offer similar technologies and just stick with the strongest projects in each category, but you've chosen good quality options so you won't likely lose much capital if you manage the risks well

1. EOS (because China)
2. TRON (because China)
3. Waves (Russia)
4. VeChain
5. Steem (Very low atm compared to average / ATH)
6. Energi

How about BNB? BNB, as owned by Binance, could be another potential coin you can buy right now at a low price. For the other coin, I don't know, but if I were you, I will buy for each coin with some amount and hold it for a long time. But I think EOS, TRON, Waves, and VeChain can be another next potential coin that can increase in the future.

But the best suggestion will do your research so you can find what coin that can fits what you need. We could only give a suggestion, and you should collect more information about each coin that you want to invest.

BNB is another good option, but OP did not include it to his options.
For me, TRON has a better potential for long term holding. Aside from its popularity, there are many good things to consider buying it.

Yes, it is what OP needs, to make his own research to at least have his own idea of what other coins are good to hold and what coins have the possibility to give a decent profit to him.

This is much better than overlapping with same concepts, if you can afford to buy coin that have a solid foundations and have the right team behind
the possibilities that it will grow along the way always be there. Progressive projects that have good communities and have continuous updates regarding
to the road map. by picking the the right  coin you'll be able lessen your risk being trapped to non moving coin.

BNB Coin can be a good alternative for long-term investment. With the support of large exchangers and DEX operations, I think BNB transactions will continue to increase and this will affect the price of BNB Coin in the future.

We are getting more shitcoins from that bounty we participated that have no chance for this to increase the price. And actually we cannot avoid those kind of coins because they always there spreading everywhere in crypto. But we can avoid those shitcoins and list in our portfolio if we choose carefully in the time we buy altcoins. We all know we experience in losing some interest from altcoins because of this drop the price always but for me I will still believe there would have trusted new altcoins coming.

I honestly think you should just focus on a few coins. Diversification is good but in crypto, it can sometimes be a bad idea unless you a whale and can afford to invest large sums into many different coins. I suggest you focus on btc as your main investment then Eth since eth is needed for all tokens to exist and survive so eth dying will take a lot to do and probably will not happen so it is more of a sure bet. The other tokens like ltc Tron and others people have mentioned can be invested in if you have the extra crypto.

if you invest in a lot of coins then a lot of time will also be used to control the price movements, unless he has a complete tool. for me investing in lots of coins will be a lot of potential mistakes because in terms of control I think it will be difficult and therefore if I invest, I will choose just a few altcoins

from the list that you made, you are smart in choosing it. but I do not recommend you to buy 10 lists, but just buy a few. in my opinion bitcoin etherum and ripple are the most appropriate choices.
I also would like to say that we should not buy or to invest in long list if we are new in crypto coins but better to buy few with high potential as if you are new better invest only in bitcoin but if you had some time in market you can invest with ETH as well. So its all about time and experience but for me its much better to start investing with bitcoin only.

I think you have misunderstood everything about the portfolio that should be unfortunately. The investment decision is made based on the project rather than the name. So I don't think it's right to make a restriction and put forward certain names. We also saw that Bitcoin reached $ 20,000, then dropped to $ 3,000 ...

One of the most important issues for everything, including creating a portfolio, is timing. If Bitcoin or any one is purchased at the right time, it will be profitable.

Your top 8 in the list is quite good. To fill the remaining two, I would go with EOS and TRON. Both have lots of potential. TRON has its long term airdrops as well. Rest all is just gambling.

Out of that list I'd change so many things. I wouldn't buy Tron because it's more and more looking like a scam. It's popularity comes from Justin spending millions of dollars on PR campaigns and giveaways. Such projects don't have real value.
I used to like Cardano but there's this strange vibe I get from it in the last months with Hoskinson wanting to fight Buterin. In general beef within currencies don't look good. You can see what happened with BCH and SV when there was a beef between devs. Both coins went down in value and Cardano is losing value without any bounces. It's going down and down.

Make sure your BTC is at least 50% of the portfolio.

Don't take random advise from internet strangers. You need help with last  two coins? How did you come up with the other eight coins? You obviously did your research and analysis, right? Do the same thing for the last two coins. It looks like you already have a list of coins. That is good. Now select two more coins from that you think is good enough to invest on. Trust your intuition. They are better than random suggestions.

Do not invest in the project according to governments. China changes its decision every day, maybe tomorrow it will ban cryptocurrency or mining again. Also, I did not understand what the "atm" you wrote in front of Steem. I could not relate it with the ATM (Automated Teller Machine) we know. Anyway, if you consider investment as a long term, look at the future of the project, not today. You can also go out of your list for the rest, maybe somewhere else.
