Currently, ETH price is at 127$. ETH has not done that well this year. And the altcoin market is very much dependent on the ETH price. So what value are you expecting during the upcoming year? Is there any possibility of recovery or it will keep continuing to go down?

There is no excessive worry from the situation of the current price of ethereum, it is believed that ethereum can repeat when entering the beginning of the year it actually increases quite sharply. Is 2020 going to happen? it could or may not happen but ethereum is very experienced in this matter and can be sure ethereum will again move towards a very good and profitable. a sense of optimism must be awakened to this matter, seeing the development of ethereum who is very confident.

It's done pretty crappy this year if you ask me, but so have a lot of other coins.  In fact *most* altcoins probably couldn't go much lower than where they're at right now, knock on wood.  I like to think that most coins have enormous upside potential right now, but I'm well aware that even with Eth at $127, it could conceivably drop to $1.  I don't seriously think it's going to, but my point is that there's also still a lot of downside risk.

The only way Eth is going to start to move upward is if bitcoin leads the way.  I think the popularity of Eth got tarnished quite a bit from all the stupid ico tokens that were released on its blockchain, and it hasn't quite lived up to its potential.  It's still a good coin and with it going proof of stake, that should help.

it is not only ETH which is not doing well. but, most of altcoin isn't doing well even going to scam
so, dont need to worry with this. it is what is called bearish market

altcoin need altseason to get pump. if the altseason happen, most of altcoin would be pump including ETH

At a glance, I see that the current price of ETH seems to be going up tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, as I see now the Commodity Channel Index (CCI) indicator shows being in the oversold area and Parabolic SAR is at $ 130, so I think if there is a pump later or tomorrow touch the price of $ 131 then a change in the bullish trend will occur.

I don't agree with you. Altcoin prices depends on Bitcoin more than Ethereum. You also should agree that Ethereum itself is an altcoin.

But let's assume you are right, then by the end of the year Ethereum could be lower as people would be selling their coins for Christmast and Ney Year Celebration. After that, the price could be recovering and don't move too much in 2020 until mid 2021. At least, I hope the price can be more stable.

altcoin market wont depend on the eth market, ETH price moves in a different directions but there were lots of alts in the market are contradicting on price of ETH. ETH price drops due to lots of scam projects on their platform I guess and it will be hard for it to recover anymore like what is the price of it before.

ETH prices are still sinking because ETH did not show good price growth this year and for other altcoin prices I think do not depend on ethereum prices, because there are altcoins that have better price growth than ethereum, especially this year

You mean recovery from this point? Because there will be a recovery at some point, and ath imho, it's just a matter of time. I am rooting for it going down or staying somewhere over hundred though because it fits my plans perfectly.

for now, the recovery will not be great. market growth looks slow. that's not so good for ETH. but if it can survive at this point now and start gradually to rise I think ETH may reach ATH. but no one will ever know when that happens. maybe when the ETH and bitcoin updates are completed in the next year. it might take longer.

I saw same question many times.not altcoins depends on ETH. You can say that altcoins depend on btc not eth.ETH also depends on btc.And I think if bitcoin hit 16k-20k in 2020 then eth can reach 1000+$.   

I saw many similiar threads asking ETH price, i don't know why people only bother with ETH price like other altcoins is not worth to consider or not worth to buy. I think right now there are so many altcoin that potential to growth in a short time rather than considering ETH price, just buy some of them and hold it in a long run if you want profits.

To be honest, the price of ETH depends entirely on the price of Bitcoin, so if in 2020 the price of bitcoin can increase, the price of ETH will increase and the goal of ETH in 2020 is to exceed 200$. The release of the complete upgrade will be delayed by the blog the ETH team released recently, it is never any easy process to completely change the protocol in a short period and expect everything should be fine.

If you think that many are stacking the coins to have a monopoly on getting the rewards in the future why do you think that the miners would sell off their coins, they can stake the coins and even dominate the reward portion in that process as the user with the highest stacking will have the monopoly in getting the rewards.

I am hoping that the price of ETH will recover when the price of bitcoin recovers late in 2020. I do not know if switching to pos will help but I hope it does. The price has plummeted so deep now and if the upgrade does nothing then I have no hope for ETH.

ETH price in 2020 will still remain as what is its price this year, a normal pump and dump. Not unless bitcoin market would start to break the $15,000 next year we might see a new price of ETH that we hasn't seen this year. What we could only do today is to speculate but if you have a strategy on how to make your own TA, you are in an advantage.

Investors mostly waiting for the impact of bitcoin halving though there's updates from ETH but the market still unsure if that will begin another

I think lots of the Erc20 coins coming from the ICO are too much dependent on the ETH. The companies has raised funds mainly using the ETH so clearly ETH must play a vital role here.

While they are stacking, the whales are also thinking of making those who bought 32ETH to dump what they have because the Constantinople is crashing and POS might not be possible. Its unsure whether going to ETH2.0 will finally be over without some problems, there are people who were claiming its not possible to solve the scalability with sharding and all.

When the word about 32ETH came, people outside crypto suddenly are buying ETH. I hope they hold during the dip.

Frankly 32ETH is cheap at current price of 130 dollars which is around $4,160. And you don't have to worry about the obsolescence of mining equipment. The staking rewards will nearly be constant.

ethereum is very important in the growth of all new altcoins and it cannot be denied. if ethereum falls can be sure at least will make a scene. but with the experience that ethereum has done, we can be sure that ethereum is still the best after bitcoin, and will always be the investment target. the prospect of 2020 for ethereum will be very reliable.

It's not getting delayed by that will be divided into a lot of phases as what will be achieved by ethereum to re-structure the whole of platform. Ethereum will also think to add more features and POS migration will make ethereum becomes a long-term update as it will change whole thing in ethereum protocol.

ETH price maybe can be increased, although not reach it's last peak, maybe can be doubled or maybe 3 times more than now. Usually ETH price follow bitcoin price and i believe it can happen again next year if bull run come to bitcoin.

I am expecting some good recovery for Eth this 2020 as Bitcoin is going to have its rewards halving around May of the same year. We know that Eth is also dependent and interconnected with Bitcoin, one way or another. When BTC will be rising then there is a strong possibility that Eth can also be pulled up. And I have read lately that Eth may go below 90? Which is I currently don't think it would considering the fact that halving would come.

 

I think the altcoin market is completely dependent on the price of Bitcoin, and so is ETH. The price of ETH is completely affected by the collapse of Bitcoin and if the price of Bitcoin continues to go down, we will see ETH at prices below 100$ very soon. However, in 2020 Bitcoin will have many important events so I believe that the price of bitcoin will increase and the altcoin market will increase soon as well.

well I really expected more for ether in 2020 it will probably up a bit mate because of the financial bitcoin market that has been predicted also up rise by some leading experts too ,but it's still too early for that because in a year many specific points maybe not as expected

I don't agree that the altcoin market is very much dependent on the ETH price. That is not true because each project has its own roadmap and performance. They are independent from each other. No doubt ETH will be back on its ATH, may not be next year but it will come. Next year, ETH should at least rise up to $1,000.

I think it will be closer to or in the middle of February before we start to see the price trend upwards. I think that for the most part, January will be more of the same with price fluctuations between $100-$150. Your speculation is fair enough and I might follow this one. Year 2020 expectations about the price of ETH will be much more closer to what you have been speculated. Some thread that I've read telling that ETH would go below $100 next year, welp if that would happen I think Bitcoin's price is really in dip during that time and that would be a great time to buy more crypto.

I think that in 2020, ETH will cost a maximum of $300-500, mostly more growth from ETH is worth waiting for, after updating ETH 2.0.

ETH is indeed the parent of all Altcoin except Bitcoin and if the price of ETH continues to fall then it will have a negative impact on other Altcoin prices. if next year the bear market is not over and there is no pumping happening then in my opinion there will be no recovery at all and of course price ETH it will continue to fall.

I think a lot will depend on whether the upcoming fork will be done without surprises. If it succeeds, the ETH price will definitely rise. If the bull run does not come in 2020 then $500 is very possible. If the bull run comes in 2020 then at the end of this year we will definitely see no less than $1500

I agree. It seems the fate of Ethereum including its price in the next year will be highly determined according to the result of the hard fork. I am positive though that the fork will come out successful and the Ethereum network will be transformed into a much better one, one that is more advanced in terms of speed especially. If everything will happen according to plan, it might shoot to around $1,000.

The latest news about the big chunks of ethereum has come and it looks like someone is interesting to dump more than 200k ethereum again. The price of ethereum can worth below than 3 digits again as so many big holders are wanna dumping their ethereum to the market. You must forget to say the speculation about ethereum update and that will not help a lot.
Ethereum is on the very difficult situation when the scammer ( plustoken) is also holding almos 1 million ethereum to be dumped to the market too.

It will be there as there's many supporters for this project who are just waiting for some sign before investing back and hold, while there's also some

You are absolutely right, Ethereum did not perform well in this year. The present price is just unbearable for me because the Ethereum price should stay at least 200$! I see a great future for ETH in 2020 but the team has to work on allot of things. New projects are not preferring ETH over other blockchain to have their coins in the early phase. Especially when Binance is having its own blockchain and there are projects which jumped from NEO and ETH to BEP. The team needs to work on the things and have to plan ahead.

Most new projects don't choose ETH  blockchain, so it makes many people no longer interested in ETH. From there, the ETH price continued to go down and showed no sign of recovery. After the 2 years of bear market for altcoins especially for ETH, I think people will stop expecting that ETH will reach to $1,000.

I also read an article sometimes ago about the Eth 2.0 version that it isnt feasible and will require a lot of development over time which means there's possibility of dealing with lots of bugs.
No FUD meant but i think Eth isn't the best to invest on in the year 2020.

I'm not expecting too much but as I read many news about the bull market, I'm quiet confident that ETH will reach the level of $500 again so for me at the end of 2020, ETH price will be around $500 or higher and this is a safe prediction for me. The update on its platform can be a big thing and the update on bitcoin can also affect the price movement of altcoins and ETH is on top of that. Nevertheless, I will still continue buying until it reach the new peak again.

We will see next year if altcoins will really going to follow the same pattern as other have said. What's important right now is that we're ready for what's going to happen. Price improvement has been trying to initiate a good catch, but still it was falling down. Due to several matters that affected the market, we've experienced a lot of difficulties this year.

As long as Ethereum is existing within the cryptocurrency market, there is a possibility for it to still recover and do further improvement in terms of its price. I have never worried if eth prices will fall because eth is an altcoin that has the second largest capitalization in coinmarketcap at this time, so, most likely will experience price increases again when market conditions begin to experience price stability again, especially if there is a bull run bitcoin of course  a little will not push eth prices up slowly. I don't think altcoin price is dependent on Ethereum anymore! Ethereum is suffering to maintain a good price throughout the year, but yet it failed to keep a reasonable price! But we don't know about that as that still remain un-answered. based on the demand and capitalization and the demand for ethere is so high consider if it's a major coin but for the adoption that becomes less as so many smartcontract platform these days.

Mate, of course it can have impact on the price, just imagine it, if the ethereum blockchain switches to proof of stake from proof of work then there's definitely going to be a dump in the price. All the people mining ethereum will be exiting the market and switching to other coins to mine. However, bitcoin and other crypto new ATH cannot be mathematically calculated for the level of market supply with demand are what will tell what the new ATH will be but i believe BTC and ETH will surge above $40,000 and $1500 respectively next year.

We have moved as high as we can with what we have right now, I doubt that the price will go up without doing anything more. It could be a new development phase, it could be a new token that hypes usage of it, it could be something but with the things we have right now and not doing anything new, we are not going to be going up.

As far as 2020 is concerned, ideally i want to see ethereum closing above 800 mark to prove the momentum of the bulls for next year im quite sure of bullish market and a new all time high peak price is expected in 2021.
