Title: Libra coin alive or dead?
Post by: BestCryptoYear2020 on December 28, 2019, 11:23:54 AM
There was a rapid growth in bitcoin price in last 2-3 months when it was announced Facebook is going to launch its own coin, called libra coin,
Now its already in cold store, due to US and EU agencies interference.

I saw in coin market cap, its only general information about libra coin, but no technical data is available yet.

Of course since the Libra coin isn't launched yet . There are so many hypes during the time prior to the news of release of Libra. Well I'm also been occupied and got excited what would be the Facebook Owner Zuckerberg using crypto or digital asset. Then started to read details about it.

Actually the coin has potential but its usability is entirely for the purpose on their parent company Facebook. Wishing to see a more revised plan, or more objective from them.

No wonder why some of their affiliates started to start leave one by one due to their lack of consistency.

Neither, it is stuck in a suspended animation, or limbo if you please. Marky Mark and the Facebook bunch took the right approach by going ahead into Congress first in order to get approval instead of just shooting for the stars and launching right out of the gate, which would be a sure way to see a disaster. I think after more regulatory guidance is issued and once Congress has a better grasp at the far extending reach cryptocurrency could provide, they might soften up and give old Mark Zuckerberg the green light to go ahead and launch his platform.

It is difficult to find very clear information about it. However, as I have read in a few places before, there is a problem between the SEC and the Libra. I think the SEC is keeping Libra out of the market for now. There may be some studies on this subject at the US Congress also.

Libra is not only facing this opposition with USA but other part of Europe. The team behind the project is rejecting a lot of re-branding by the USA government from declaring a stable coin (as security token) to other containing measures, This started far back as June 18 when the announcement of the project was made. Investors profit had been removed with recent news and could loosen the interest and commitment from this side but the whole crypto space are watching with lot of interest in the money the coin will bring to the space. We expect resolution later in the coming year

the price of bitcoin has only had a small impact from the news about this Libra, how can it be said that the project is dead or alive while we don't know how they will release it soon in the next year, I also want to know what is interesting about this LIBRA project, I also don't know whether libra will also be in the crypto currency category, I haven't seen much about it only heard from people in this forum, because I usually better wait for their launch, if this is part of the crypto currency it will be cool and I want to see this LIBRA used by whatsapp users and Instagram

Judging by what happens in the information field regarding the libra, we can say that the project is more likely alive than dead.
A test network was launched, and according to the developers of the project, it is almost ready to launch. Another thing is that politicians and regulators have not yet decided on the legal status of the project.
This can be a very strong obstacle to launch.

Do you really convinced yourself that the surge was due to the Libra coin announcement? I doubt it and never thought of that. It's the basic cycle of bitcoin and its market after going through a worse year.

We can get data on CMC but it's not the basis of everyone if it's a good project. It's the most popular place to get new altcoins coming but it's not an actual source because the information that shows there is very limited.

The repution is already broke.

Its not a live coin yet so technically Libra is not dead. 2020 will begin in few more days and I’m confident that it can still stand despite of the government interfere, they have a better plan and we will see that. If Libra didn’t make it, i hope Bitcoin will shine again. You can’t see any data about Libra coin yet, you have to wait.

In my opinion, it's deader than a dead parrot.

As long as Facebook wants to locate Libra in Switzerland rather than the US, while still trying to use dollars to back Libra, the American regulators will do everything they can to prevent it's use in the United States. And if it can't be used in the US, it's useless. Might as well use bitcoin, or litecoin or doge or some other cryptocurrency that can be used in the US and doesn't break any laws by pretending it's backed by dollars.

In my opinion the Libra has not been clarified so far it might be still in negotiations with the local government so the decision has not yet been published.
2020 will be a lot of projects that provide good news about halving, release 2.0, collaborating and of course Libra will next year this will be the beginning of their careers, hopefully this will become a real reality.

Facebook is facing heavy opposition in their libra project, and some of their strategic allies are already showing signs of doubt and withdrawal.

I dunno if they survive the heavy resistance against their project, but even if they do it won't be fast. It will take years.

Libra is still alive but not yet released because there are still many who oppose the Libra Coin project from Facebook.
even if libra is released, I also don't really care because basically I don't trust Facebook. but as a crypto currency, I support it.

It's normal for Libra to make noise when it was first announced to the public. Of course it's from Facebook, a popular social media. That's just a normal response but since until now Libra hasn't been launched yet, there's no much noise. Crypto users are just focusing on their coins. But when Libra finally got launched, expect it to make noise again. Expect to be hearing a lot of news about Libra. And with that, we will see how well it'll do in the market.

So it is still unsure wether Facebook Libra will launch next  year.  The decision is yet to be released and we are not sure if it is approved or not. So I guess it is early to tell that Facebook will going to launch next year.  It is more fitting to say that Libra may possibly launch next year if they were granted an approval.

I think Libra raised a lot of people's hope. So, people were expecting much to come from it in no distant time.
But its still a work in progress. The technical aspects haven’t been figured out yet.
So, I wouldn’t say it is a failure. Neither will I say is a success.

Libra is a work in progress. All blockchain-related projects are.

There were news of Libra moving forward without waiting for the US but again the statement from the president of Switzerland, the country where Headquarter of Libra lies. https://www.theblockcrypto.com/linked/51655/swiss-president-the-current-form-of-facebooks-libra-has-failed

With this news, Libra would have many to convince before starting an issuance.

libra is as good as dead, they can not bypass the regulation. I heard a rumor about they are going to launch it next year no matter what happens, but the probability for them to realize it almost zero. we are not ready yet to accept this kind of payment system. the global economy will be shaken, the government will not allow such a thing to happen.

I saw a tweet by icodrops stating the president of Switzerland said LIBRA has failed in its current form and needs reworking to be approved. Here https://twitter.com/ICODrops/status/1210889995805954054?s=19 (https://twitter.com/ICODrops/status/1210889995805954054?s=19). I really hoped for Libra to scale through these regulatory hindrances since it will bring more exposure mainstream to crypto, even though it's highly centralized. I'm looking at the usability and acceptability of crypto here and not otherwise.

The Libra currency has not yet been launched so it neither lives nor dies. It is currently struggling with government regulations to be allowed to operate.
However, the US government is concerned about Libra's threat to the financial market, so we still do not know when Libra will be launched.

We are yet to see if Libra will not get the go for their coin. They are still in the process of securing it. I think the team behind Libra will be willing to compromise in order to get through the regulations. We can't say their dead until the whole shebang is over.

This is the update about Libra 4 hours ago https://cointelegraph.com/news/facebooks-libra-has-failed-in-current-form-says-swiss-president
and I'm not seeing it good actually. There is always a questionable situation that Libra may face and it actually been rejected by some investors.
I couldn't say that Libra will become dead but it can be possible if no one will support this coin, and this coin might belong to shitcoins.

This has been a discussion lately, if it is true that this will be launched hopefully it will have a good impact, libra is the center of attention of investors and all, and high expectations seem to be expected to be realized by the price of libra later. But for now we only need to be patient until then, because the US still does not dare to give access to libra. Hopefully next year libra can be launched and not disappoint all of our expectations.

US government and Facebook need more time to agree about regulation because if they miss something there's chance US economic will get impact. Behind Libra is Facebook the largest social media in the world, this coin can take fund from people easily because has powerful back up. The problem is if Libra get more trust and fund better than government financial instrument, public economy will be in down trend and government try to avoid it. Let's them discuss what the best for Libra, we can find how good they are next year.

we already see it, what other process are you talking about? the government will not allow them to exist, it can threaten the economy. it is a big matter because we are talking about a legal cryptocurrency that can be used legally, it is practically the same as digital fiat.

I think they are doing internal works to push their ambitious project called Libra. Following US's objection, Facebook stepped back a bit with its project. But it had promised to appease regulators when issuing the digital coin. I think they are not dropping their project whatsoever. They must have been working on it behind the scene.

Libra is facing many difficulties to launch officially! Many partners left the Libra project, US and EU SEC regulation is rejecting Libra's proposal! So, I don't think we can see it live very soon, but Libra may overcome all the obstacles to launch in 2020, the same hope goes for Telegram TON blockchain!  The crypto market really needs these two gems to acquire a huge mass adoption!

officially, libra has not been released to the public and plans next year when bitcoin will be fork halving and etherum 2.0. Even from the news that I saw, America and France did not agree with the Libra project because stable coins equivalent to the dollar could damage the global market and economy. but we still have to see again what steps this Facebook CEO has to do, will it be a living coin and eventually released to the public, or will it die and it will never be seen in the market?

We cannot say that libra coin is dead, because there is still a possibility that libra coin will be launched in 2020. Now libra coins
which is supported by Facebook trying to get an agreement with the American government. Since I don't trust Facebook, I don't
really expect the launch of Libra Coin. But I have to admit that if Libra launches successfully, it will give good impact on the world

Didn't they announced the release of the Callibra wallet of Libra project? There isn;t really a clear information about why they are releasing this wallet whether isn't any legal actions that project may really come to life.  LIBRE however might do.

Facebook hasn't give up the project which they are still in battle for its launch, this could spark adoption when approved by the US senate.

Other people are too skeptical about it because facebook has been involve in many data breaching situations, but taking about cryptocurrencies I think facebook will do its job delivering a high class of currency which can be useful. Not much can be said about the faith of that cryptocurrency as the SEC seems not to be in agreement to the launch of that coin. I think that project has been put on hold at the moment pending further developments and approvals from the SEC. Not to sound like a pessimist but i don't have any hope that coin will ever get all the needed approvals to enable it launch into the crypto industry.

Given the fact that many countries do not approve of the launch of the project, but at the same time, EU and US regulators are in constant negotiations with the project. And this means that the project can be published, and when this happens it will be a project that is fully approved by the most stringent regulators, which means that the popularity of the project will not interfere with anything. It will be a kind of monopoly for some time. Although who knows what a this precedent could lead to.

is there a guarantee that a large company that will issue new coins will certainly be able to succeed? systematically indeed it will affect that there will be a large demand like our colleague above. but that also will not guarantee that libra will be as successful as the name of the bearer. naturally if a large company like Facebook issues a libra, it will surely be awaited by many interested people because the big name of Facebook itself is not because of the libra.

Still hanging but many are still hoping, Libra coin will have a huge impact and regulators don't want to see disruptions in the presence system, so they are still reviewing it and looking at every situation as it comes, they want it regulated and makes it looks good in their eyes, we can only speculate now.

Precisely, and Libra is currently nowhere to go, not even investors will look at this coin's potentiality until their problem will resolve.
Many we're watching this at their first announcement to lunch but it still there. And when the problem with regulations arise, it is somewhat forgotten. May the situation won't look so good and Libra coins will probably dissolve.

Facebook coin have a lot of obstacles to overcome. The central banks of the United States and the European Union are concerned about the emergence of cryptocurrency on the social network Facebook. A compromise is needed and it will be found, Libra will be put into circulation and the growth of the cryptocurrency market to a large extent depends on this event.

Libra coin is alive and they are just working on its legal side, looks like the government dont want libra coin to be operated. Lets see how they will get this done, but I'm sure they can. On the other side, some of the giant companies who have announced partnership in this project have already backed out due to unknown reason.

It is 2020 that Libra will be launched. It is not yet adopted so it has not died. Although, it is facing setback and this could delay when it would be launched.

PayPal did not support it. Visa, MasterCard and many other companies that supported it before are not supporting it again. Although, they might still support it after it has been launched but it could cause major setback for Libra.

Libra is facing main challenges from USA and European Union. This could really delay Libra to be launched in January 2020. So, Libra is not a dead coin but rather that it has not yet been launched and facing setbacks by USA and EU.

It is definitely because Libra is still yet to approved thus it is yet launched. Although it has a prior description but still it hasn't yet been used so no data been produced. We cannot further say that it will be going to alive nor dead because Libra is in still on its own progress. So imo if coinmarketcap isn't yet producing its own data then who are we to conclude such analysis, right?

If the Libra coin will be launched, it will certainly greatly affect the development of cryptocurrency in the future, but we don't know whether the impact will be positive or negative? But if the existence of Libra coin can make a boost to Cryptocurrency, of course it will make Cryptocurrency more developed in the future, I personally hope that the launch of Libra coin will have a positive impact on bitcoin and other altcoins.

The plan is all set to release the coin next year, but who knows how facebook is planning to ease out the regulatory hurdles and they have the power to influence the people at the right places and if they are able to do that is to be seen and i hope they are moving forward with the project even with this much backlash, i am hoping they will push through and open the market for the rest of the private companies and we will have a swarm of new private centralized coins :D.

Well they are becoming such big company not for nothing, if they already planned to release it in 2020 big chance it will happen despite all the backlash they received from the government. Probably they are going to launch it outside US who knows, the whole world has known them and if a flicker of news regarding Libra release goes to public, peolpe will automatically know and get curious.

I haven't yet understood the true purpose and the true principals of this monetary experiment. It is not clear to me why it seems too light: don't trust, verify!
It's a must to know first before trusting your money to any project not even this libra thing. If you'll going to go deep and start understanding what's the
real purpose and how will investors will going to benefits from this project, the purpose and the potentials are the key for this project to gather investors
interest.

My opinion is not too sure, between positive or negative, at that time I read someone's opinion and the results tended to be negative, completely still bitcoin is more important, maybe the coin libra is only intended for the Facebook industry, and nothing more. Yes, maybe if a Libra coin is released, crypto will be known by all Facebook users who previously did not know crypto-world. People might be more curious about the world of crypto, involved with the Libra coins to be released this. Just an opinion ...

The project got delayed but it's still alive. I hope it doesn't get delayed into non-existence because this is very much a possibility. A big company like facebook will not continue to pump money into the projects just to keep it in limbo while regulators are taking their sweet time.

I'd like to see it happen. I'm not a fan of facebook and probably not going to use libra ever but everybody should be allowed their chance on the market.

Libra is a fake crypto, because it is not decentralized.
In any case, a currency guaranteed by Facebook would have immediate success, and this is precisely why it will probably never start: it would be too powerful, and would bring all the fiat of the world to its knees.
We can be sure that strong powers will prevent it.

crypto doesn't mean its always decentralize. facebook coin of course is centralize but its most likely going to use blockchain. its not a dead project i guess but the company behind it is big and has billions to spend to cloud the judgement of the regulators. it may actually be launched in the future, we may not be using it but the people in facebook will absolutely adopt it. the company is persistent.

I am very happy with what you say that Libra coins can live in 2020. And I strongly support that with new coins, there are references to finding and holding other coins. at least this will indicate that crypto is still highly expected to be able to develop properly. because there is a new growth of coins and will be followed by other coins and hopefully make crypto more passionate.

But you can't even call that as fake crypto too because the purpose of libra to be the centralized payment system and no more. have you seen the latest news about libra as the callibra team will release the testnet soon?
Not only a currency but anything backed by big companies will be trusted by all of the parties. The government already prevented the launch of libra but not all of the countries have been banning libra and libra has shifted to the countries that are not banning it to launch libra token as a stable token payment system.

Please don't ever think that Libra coins will similarly have the result same how facebook has its name in the community cause it is totally different.
Libra hasn't attracted investors cause they'll never see good news about their problems. They most likely to feel doubts if this certain coin Libra will take their final launch cause until today, it is still questioned by the regulatory board.

since the rejection of Europe, and also the release of PayPal, MasterCard, and others, I rarely look for information about Libra. however, I was quite excited to know that libra brought so many promising partnerships. However, right now it looks like libra has a few obstacles. I really don't see the point to libra. Everybody knows bitcoin is unique because its a SOV and its permissionless and (somewhat) anonymous.

Libra has none of these features. Its for what? buying stuff online like pants? Why not just use dollars? What advantage does libra give me?

If it is released, they will surely announce it on the official channel. So we don't need to contact them in any way because we will definitely never get their answers. Libra coin position between live and dead because until first time know to public Libra still not have anything about when coin launching to public and when investor can buy this coin, they don't have valid team and looks not available for making schedule about their coin road map, how long waiting and hope with Libra coin announcement to public become close or launching.

I think yesterday's rise and fall in bitcoin prices has nothing to do with Libra coins.
and I think it's too early to judge whether libra coins are dead or alive. because libra coins have not been officially released and still have licensing issues. so we just wait whether this libra coin will be able to enter the crypto exchange and compete with other crypto. only time can answer that.

Libra is still far to enter this market. There are many obstacle from internal and external side
from internal, many companies left libra association. from external, against regulation

Libra is stable coin, there is no worry. it wouldnt beat Bitcoin as a king of crypto

I have been closely watching statements given by David Marcus and Mark Zuckerberg during the last few months. The impression I get is that they have put the Libra project on hold. Zuckerberg recently said that Libra would not be listed anywhere in the world, unless they get all the necessary permissions from the US regulators. And at the same time, the Libra team is not doing anything to get these permissions. So if you ask me, they have put the project on the freezer (perhaps permanently).

Recently, there was a news about libra that called it as a fail project

The same thought, in my opinion, Libra coins seem to be too bound by the government as if if Libra coins were launched there would be an institution controlling them, and I think Libra coins would be stable coins if fully bound by the government.
