Title: What do you think are the hot topics of crypto in 2019?
Post by: Bitget Future on December 31, 2019, 09:07:58 AM
Even though the cryptocurrency industry is not new to ups and downs, 2019 has turned out to be the year with the most surprising reveals. The long-lasting bear market of 2018 moved market analysts to call it the year of regulatory reckoning, leaving many jurisdictions uncertain about how to treat cryptocurrencies. However, 2019 also turned out to be the year of the comeback.

I felt like more and more people became aware of the existence of Bitcoin this year but sadly, most of them just treat it as a "get rich quick" scheme instead of a long-term investment. The knowledge is the key here and people need to get more educated about BTC.

I cant think of any hotter topic than the coming btc halving because everyone is expecting something very good in return in 2020. But i doubt nothing good will happen next year just like the past halving which tends to rise right after a year after the halving. I am one of those who hopes something good next year but i wont expect too much. Still have plenty of time though.

There are too many hot topics this year, the hot thing that came up to my mind is the faketoshi wherein even made a website and detailing everything pretending that someone will believe in him, he didn't know that not all of us were fool that can easily believe in him with only those evidence just like his old laptop.

Surely the hotest topic now in cryptocurrency is all about bitcoin halving and huge personalities supporting/critizing bitcoin and the whole cryptocurrency world. Halving is a big news because it only happens every approximately 4 years and it happening make a headline because halving also gives positive effects in bitcoins price.

Apart from the technical gossips and financial fluctuations, I believe the hottest topic of 2019 was about an imposter named Craig Wright who tried to copyright the bitcoin whitepaper and early source code during Mid 2019. And very surprisingly the US copyright office actually granted the copyright to him.

This news came to us as a shocker as we didn't expect this to happen! However, more drama unfolded after Wei Liu claimed the same. But we enjoyed it thoroughly!

The most exciting thing for me throughout 2019 was the news of the launch of the Libra coin, which made rumors around the world especially the president D. Trump who picked up this news at the time. On the other hand there are top and best exchanges that experience hacking and losing fantastic bitcoin. Well that's all I know.

What gives me interest this year is the hot news regarding Craig Wright wherein he claims to be the real Satoshi. Until now, he is still being talked and being interviewed by some people and he still continues to claim that he really is satoshi.
Aside from that, the news about halving. It is positive news for me since this might be the trigger for the sudden increase in the price of bitcoin.

Well on the most anticipated event in the Bakkt launching this year. However, it didn't get enough traction as people grew tired of waiting plus we're still in the bear market so we really didn't feel the impact.

Another is the whales that pump the price in April 2, yes it was April fools' and everyone thought that it was a joke. But it was real as it gets as the price pump from $3k-$6k and culminating to $13k pump in June.

I agree, I think this year is the year that was meant for for high regulatory scrutiny. The crypto scene has been very disruptive for the past for years. The ICO scene was so wild it was being compared to the Wild West, from time past where regulation, policies, and law itself operated on some rough and really murky waters due to there being no proper enforcement agencies on the scene. The U.S as we know it was still a young budding, developing country in the midst of building a solid enough foundation to stand on. Mean while at that time civil unrest was happening between the American north and American south. A lot of time, money and energy went into actually uniting the states as many where divided.
During this period, the western states where rural, ranging from prairies, to mountains, to valleys and desserts. A lot of these territories didn't have a strong enough law enforcement, and thus the scene was called the Wild West. In order to get a clearer picture of the scene, just check out an episode of one of these old "American Western" (shows) portraying those times and events, like  "Guns Smoke", "RawHide", "Bonanza" and the "Rifleman" just to name a few.
The Crypto scene at the time was very similar, a little unorganized and and very unregulated. Regulation was bound to happen, it is the only sure way to get institutional investors involved. In my opinion, the only way to push forward is to find a middle-ground with the policy makers and regulators and reach a compromise that leaves us with clear guidance for navigating within these murky waters and gray areas of law.

It's the past. It's dead. Who gives a shit?

What is interesting about 2019 is the first glimmers of issues that will become much more important in future.

My vote for that goes to exchanges getting weird about mixed coin as demonstrated by Binance and Wasabi and services like Bakkt and the possibility for rehypothecation that's just beginning but might turn rampant.

Bakkt was a damp squib. Most people simply ignored Craig Wright. As for hacks, they happen so often, again no-one takes any notice.

Libra was the big event of the year - because it upset governments and started them thinking about regulation. Govts were not threatened by bitcoin or the other alts. But they hate the idea of stable coins which are pretending to be backed by fiat. And they hate Facebook and Zukerberg. So the two things coming together was explosive.

They basically hate anything that can take their power away. In cases like these we always watch bipartisan condemnation with speeches and news coverage. Be it Bitcoin or Zuckerberg they feel threatened and in need to regulate or ban. I have ethical reasons to disagree with the issue and use of a facebookcoin, because of their history of collecting private data and selling them to third parties and intelligence agencies. Governments have completely different reasons to oppose it.

Bakkt is the most awaited news for everyone and apparently one that dissaponted others as they expected too much. The Libra coin and IEO can also be consider. There are many that happens but like the dump and pump of BTC and altcoins,we can't do anything on it. Let's hope for better 2020.

Hot topics will always be there every year, and for this year the hot topic is the expectation of the price of bitcoin in 2020, a pretty much discussed IEO investment. but what I see and become a hot topic this year is the hope of halving bitcoin in the years to come, and I also hope that year will really happen

Bitcoin introduced as a digital currency or investment instrument or digital assets.
If the main focus on introducing bitcoin is the technology behind of it, which is blockchain. Maybe the outcome will be different. Sadly, blockchain is complicated to explain for public.

Since there's a lot of things happened here in crypto for the year 2019, I can't think much and this issue is the first thing that came to my mind. About China's president statement about blockchain technology. We are not really sure if that's actually the main reason why the price went up but I do believe that this issue affects the price that made it went up.

Though China are now adopting the Blockchain technology I don't think it will have a big impact on the price movement of Bitcoin. Remember that they're just only adopt Blockchain because they want to develop their own digital currency. In addition, I don't think China doesn't totally not like Bitcoin because if they do I think they will terminate the Bitcoin mining in their country.

I think IEO is another hottest information for cryptocurrency at this year.

As you may know, there are a lot of people who became rich just because they were involved to invest in ICO at 2017 ago.

But when there were a lot of project just eventually scamming many investor then this trend had gone away.

Project ICO dead slowly and now IEO comes, and give another chance to gain money with a bit convinience.

*ETH moving to PoS
*CLAM crash
*Bitcoin as payment on extortion malware.
*Lightning Network develope and implementation
*segwit Adoption

And an exponential adoption is impressive how more people are using Bitcoin with time.

I look forward to a new round of bakkt, and also blockchain-based business.

China promises to start running effectively in 2020, they will be a differentiator and even a forerunner of the emergence of greater things if they succeed in gaining national influence. Apart from the news, the latest developments from CME etc. can also be positive pulleys. Both of these topics were quite hot during 2019 accompanying the topic of increasingly strong Halving speculation.

The announcement coming from the president himself was very popular hitting the headlines of many crypto publications.

1. discuss and predict bitcoin halving day in 2020
2. about blockchain technology today more and more countries, companies and banks will adopt blockchain technology. the president of china also gave a statement that he supported the blockchain.
3. altcoin which continues to decline.
4. And finally about Craig Wight who claims to be Satoshi.

I am just responding to the OP, who is asking which topics do we think are hot in crypto in the year 2019. That announcement coming from the president of China himself was indeed hot. The president did not mention Bitcoin. He did not even mention cryptocurrency, if I am not mistaken. But still it made the headlines of crypto publications. That is not something to wonder because many crypto publications are writing in their headlines news that are not really news worthy. They are writing articles that are written for the sake of having something to publish.

Scam by IEO and ICO become most popular topic because almost in 2019 many people got scam with IEO and ICO because have lower price after coin can be trading, maybe in new year ICO and IEO can back success again with higher price and have many IEO and ICO will listed on bigger exchange market to give chance for investor earn much profit.

Because they fear the market will collapse like late 2017 and early 2018. Investors lost too much money during that time and now they are a lot more careful, in fact not who else invested long term in this market any longer? everyone will be willing to dump it all if they get a little bit of a profit, so in 2019 the market cannot go up too high because psychology of investors is scared.

Yes indeed, there's a lot of scam lurking around and we are all exhausted by this and I think that it is really necessary for all of us to become aware of all the situation,  as per me, whenever there are newbies, or my friends would like to join this forum, I am not threatening them but I am giving them the idea of what's happening in crypto world.

in my opinion there are some hot topics 2019 that are often discussed in this forum are:
1. discuss and predict bitcoin halving day in 2020
2. about blockchain technology today more and more countries, companies and banks will adopt blockchain technology. the president of china also gave a statement that he supported the blockchain.
3. altcoin which continues to decline.
4. And finally about Craig Wight who claims to be Satoshi.
Besides the hot topics you have come up with, I think that IEO related topics are well worth the attention. Clearly in 2019, IEO helped the cryptocurrency market grow, we saw a series of altcoins and bitcoin grow in the middle of 2019. But until IEO was abandoned, everything went back to how it was. This market needs more new things to attract investors, and in 2020 we will see events bigger than 2019, surely a strong bull run will take place

One of the most hot topics during 2019 from Cryptocurrencies are the countries that have adopted massively such virtual currencies.

Allowing their residents to have such good adoption and appealing usage on their daily lives.
Once the first ones started, many more have followed the same motion and allowed Crypto to become even more popular than previous years.

This is what is most important to me from 2019.

I saw allot of drama in 2019 concerning roger ver and a craig the faketoshi. And for me it is quite not that important to bring back the memories they've created and lets start the new year with positive and more productive outcomes. Especially to have some new year's resolution that we should learn the basics of market analysis and how to efficiently trade cryptocurrency in short, to make our 2020 memorable by earning more profits in crypto space with less drama.

Rather he emphasized on blockchain adoption. This news not only became headline of crypto network but also took price of bitcoin to 12000 $. Such things are not good for bitcoin as it will give more strength to idea that bitcoin is purely on speculations.

For as long as the adoption of Bitcoin as a currency is rising steadily, it is not a problem if Bitcoin's price is also rising due to outside influences such as a statement of support of someone who leads a huge nation with massive market potential. After all we cannot avoid people to speculate on Bitcoin's price. It has in fact grown to be a sort of a speculative asset. But China's statement is not one that supports Bitcoin. That is the bad part.

Enter the new year immediately. Why not review the hot topics of crypto in 2019?

With 2019 already behind us and already a part of the cryptocurrency history, it is always good to take a good review of the many things that transpired in that year and maybe learn a thing or two as we are moving along to the year 2020 bringing in hopes and better perspective of things. Maybe I will remember 2019 as a much better year than 2018 which was a winter time for cryptocurrency. Last year, there was that surge going away from the low $3,000 level experienced in 2018. And of course, who will never forget the sudden pump of Bitcoin's price due to that false news coming from China insinuating the possibility that the country is adopting cryptocurrency when in fact it was more on the blockchain technology. I am sure that China will still be a major force in this industry affecting many facets and many movements.

For me, The price of Bitcoin was always the main hot topic of crypto in 2019, not only in this year, That's the main issue since a long time because almost everything is dependable on this Bitcoin halving, I wish 2020 will bring a good and positive vibe to this cryptocurrency world, without halving, it's not possible to bring out this thing, another hot topic was related to China, they have declared that Blockchain is very potential for the future generation, So people are getting involved in this blockchain industry day by day.

I do agree, since it is always being watched and most of the time it is the most discussed topic everywhere. A lot of people is still waiting for another ath or any sudden movement of bitcoin.
This coming 2020, it will surely bring something that we do nit expect, since there are more countries to adopt crypto and blockchain technology.

Probably there were trendy topics like the launch of Bakkt. I remembered that the price went downwards instead of upwards that day, but it was like a preparation of bulls to push so after few days of the launch we got a short bull run after that but got exhausted in the end and now we're here in 7k.

And we're stuck to this $7k I guess bakkt has something to do with it too.

ETH2.0 were pretty much discussed and will still be discussed this year as well, some say it will take more months before ETH will finally turn POS. Halving were pretty much talked in every thread specially the speculation when when it will happen this year. There are set of another topics that weren't thoroughly touched like the digital currencies of central banks.

I think that story is already a trend in 2017-2018 although there are still some investors who still falls for the scheme of the ICO and IEO back then. But let's not forget the trend of the fake Satoshi who wants to be the front page of every news. The bitcointalk/Bitcoin 10th anniversary and many more including the halving this year is also a hot topic.

Surely analysis, if the bitcoin is going to recover from the dump, happened in 2020, or is this bitcoin going to surpass the ATH history in the market.
Also, a lot of criticism about ICO and altcoins in the market a lot of people look at them as they are already useless and a lot of users do not trust altcoins anymore in the market because they are not a great investment either.

This is because people insist on being greedy and falling for really silly scams. It makes crypto look bad and people start to blame ICO and crypto as a whole instead of the people who support scams which is often themselves. I really hope 2020 is the year people finally start supporting great projects that are not just a dream on paper but the actual product you can use the crypto for instead of hoping that the price will go up for a coin or token that does nothing.

I think a lot of news in the internet was all about the influence in bitcoin since in a lot of countries the bitcoin is already starting to be implemented in a lot of countries and also get legalized I think we could expect a lot of countries to also legalized bitcoin and accept bitcoin in their economy because surely it could really benefits their country from this bitcoin technology.

I think this year surely more about bitcoin analysis,
also news about bitcoin legalized in a lot of new countries,
and also a lot of scam websites and hackers trying to hack the bitcoin technology.

Hot topics that were much into discussion in the past year are bear trend of the market. In specific the market crash that took place during the end of 2018 that got carried to 2019. Further the plan of Facebook to enter cryptocurrency and imposing of ban by social media platforms were the most discussed. China's stand on cryptocurrency adoption/banning was much into discussion during 2019.

Many people will discuss when bitcoin faced with lower and higher price, many people get prediction bitcoin going to higher price after bitcoin up and doing exactly when bitcoin have been down, but I think most hot topic for discussing is when bitcoin halving coming, many investor try to make discussion about bitcoin price when halving time, will bitcoin back to higher price or not?

yes the long-lasting bear market is one of the hot topics in 2019
the comeback of bitcoin this 2019 is really good many people didn't even recognize it
but if you will look at it some of them already gain a 100% profit if they invest in the bear market of 2018.

Basically to tackle the reason of the price crash in 2018, and the reason why Facebook is still having a difficulty in implementing their own cryptocurrency to the market. In addition, we should also add some hot topics concerning the blockchain adoption of China and the issues concerning the hongkong protest and their use of cryptocurrency particularly bitcoin. These topics would open up opportunity for us to go back to the past and think about the possibilities that could happen in the future.

I felt like more and more people became aware of the existence of Bitcoin this year but sadly, most of them just treat it as a "get rich quick" scheme instead of a long-term investment. The knowledge is the key here and people need to get more educated about BTC.

I believe that this year the crypto community will focus on educating newbies. I've already noticed this trend on twitter, reddit, and other social media platforms.

There were lots of "hot topic" though most of them were created just out of hype. I guess announcing Libra was the most buzzing topic of 2019. Facebook, a well known company supporting the blockchain technology and creating their own currency while getting bashed by the government actually created a lot of discussion. Many people were really excited (and some were calling it shit which makes sense if you think logically) to see it get launched. By the end of the year, the most discussed topic was about the upcoming halving of bitcoin. People are hoping the price to rise and thus investing on it.

Blockchain will be one of the top topic in the internet nowadays, also if you havent heard already, John McAfee has a statement that he will do something that can hurt his private part when bitcoin will not go ATH at the end of the year, people wi start to get curious about bitcoin and blockchain, it will create more people to invest in bitcoin because of that.

In 2019, the most important issue in cryptocurrency was IEOs. I think this process initiated by Binance was the most important issue of 2019. Throughout the year, we waited for institutional capital to enter the market. However, such a situation did not happen. Perhaps the most important would be the Libra, but there is no. IEOs were the most important issue.

Chinese government sentiment that agreed to implement the blockchain, but did not recognize the crypto currency was interesting enough throughout 2019, and then the topic of institutional funds was actively involved in market trials, and ultimately led to a decline in bitcoin eventually returning to the $ 6k Area. these things are likely to develop again in 2020.

In my observation, the hottest topic before the year 2019 ends is about the halving and the expected bitcoin value inflation because what I observed, it is the most popular and most frequently asked topics before the year ends even in the other forums and campaigns. They are frequently talking about the year 2020 halving season because they are expecting the bitcoin's valu inflation after the said season.

The news that German banks will be able to hold cryptocurrencies from 2020. This has cleared this world well. We'll see...
That's so good news though! I mean, if german banks will be able to hold bitcoin then most probably that other country from Europe will follow it and it will have a positive impact for bitcoin which it's really amazing. I hope that this year will be so good for bitcoin and for other crypto as well.
