Title: JollyGood: an amazing journey becoming Hero member rank on 1st January 2020
Post by: JollyGood on January 01, 2020, 10:56:59 PM
First of all, a very Happy New Year to all of you. Thank you for visiting this thread.

I am making this post on 1st January 2020 and I want to take advantage of the opportunity to wish 2020 brings the best for all of you, all of your families and all of your loved ones too. I am wishing you and them the best in health, finances, happiness and success in everything wished and strived for.

On a personal level, I would like to thank each and every one of you that has contributed to our forum in a positive light. This forum is a great environment, it belongs to all of us and it is a place that is special to those who appreciate all that is has become over the years.

With the exceptions of the trolls, scams, scammers and those who are generally condescending and deliberately provocative - there is not much negative to say. I hope Bitcointalk Forum has a bright future ahead of it  ;)

A SNIPPET OF MY CRYPTO & BITCOINTALK FORUM JOURNEY:
I first registered here in 2013 as Bitcoin was a word being used more and more in mainstream. I was an active member of what was then a growing community. I had a nice tidy portfolio of Bitcoin and many other crypto which was worth a lot of USD$. I sat and watched the value of my portfolio rocket to double figures over what I invested initially because more and more people were beginning to invest in crypto but sadly became one of the many Cryptsy Exchange victims and lost everything I built up as it was stored in Cryptsy and they scammed everybody: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1173703.0

It was only thanks to some good fortune I had some crypto on wallets I held elsewhere but I left them as they were not valued much and then tried forget all about crypto because I did not want to build up another portfolio only to see it possibly stolen again at another exchange. Years later as Bitcoin was making huge waves in mainstream media again, I decided to start looking in to it again. I managed to retrieve my crypto which was not stored at (and thankfully not stolen by) Cryptsy only to find myself to sitting on a small fortune which was much bigger than the loss of original portfolio that Cryptsy stole from me.

After I noticed crypto prices going up I wanted to start trading again and found myself back at this forum for obvious reasons. I tried logging in to this forum after a long time away but it flagged up as me being locked out because of suspicious activity which was understandable because of the time period between the previous time logging in. I tried resetting the email address but nothing worked so I created a new account and registered on 31st May 2017 as JollyGood and have engaged with all sorts of users here.

BITCOINTALK FORUM SCAMS & SCAMMERS:
I think it was a few weeks in to my journey here that I took an interest in betking (and its owner/operator serial scammer Dean Nolan). I saw the number of betking promotions and signatures that so many campaign participants were displaying and read the posts being made in their ICO thread as well as the ICO deal - it was probably serial scammer Dean Nolan and his betking ICO scam in 2017 that first alerted me to how easy it was to portray to be reputable and honest but at the same time how easy it was to effectively steal millions of USD$ from gullible investors. Until then I had heard of the acronym "ICO" in passing but never understood what it actually was. After some research, I knew exactly what it was...

I noticed scams in the forum before then but none had the alleged positive reputation that serial scammer Dean Nolan had because of his previous action of returning thousands of Bitcoin back to their rightful owners (bankroll investors). To me the whole betking ICO thing was a super scam so I asked some questions, that was when serial scammer Dean Nolan threw toys out of his pram before spitting out his dummy and throwing a tantrum of colossus proportions without answering simple questions I put forward.

As time went by, somewhere along the line I took far more interest in exposing scams or participating in those types of threads rather than just post about non-scam related issues and created several scam threads asking users to avoid falling in their trap. At some later stage I also created my own Scam Alert thread to list all the ones I was participating in exposing: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5146438.0

I think it was less than 3 months ago I found myself as DT1 and that adds more responsibility on how to tag and leave appropriate feedback. I am extremely thankful for those members that trust me and advise me, thanks to their guidance, goodwill and support I have been able to continue to contribute to this forum.

NEWBIES & LOW RANKED USERS:
For all those who are new to this forum or those that have been around for some time and are hoping to increase in rank, please be patient and please continue on your path here of discovery trying to be as helpful and as courteous as possible. All of us will have an off-day or two and it might reflect in our posts but that does not make us bad or untrustworthy but it is important to be yourself and always try your best to be as genuine as you can and that is a quality the members of this forum will see shine through. Sooner or later your ranking will go up, just be patient and enjoy the ride....

SENIOR EXPERIENCED USERS:
For all those that have been around here in the forum far longer than me and have contributed far more than I have, I hope you continue to protect the integrity of this forum and continue to contribute positively towards its ever growing member base. Without all of what you have given to this forum over the years and without all of what you have contributed to this forum over the years it would never have achieved the status it has today therefore a very big and heart-felt thank you to each and every one of you for all you have given to help everybody here.

We all have a duty to protect the reputation of this forum so I humbly request that we always try to protect newbies and gullible people from being victims of scams so I hope we always come together to fight to expose scams and scammers wherever we see them.

SCAMMER OWNED BOUNTY CAMPAIGNS:
Recently, towards the last quarter of 2019 unfortunately some scams have tried to use bounty campaigns as indirect bribes just to divide our community with those on one side that actively promoted the scams and those on the opposite side categorically refused to accept money from scammers and never retracted their scam accusations. The sad part was reading posts from members who had previously good reputation now trying to justify their association with scammers but there was no justification ever provided that was ever genuine, they simply became greedy and wanted money.

Let us hope those members that surrendered their morals and values for the sake of pennies from scammers in 2019 never ever allow themselves to stoop so low again because our forum is much stronger when we stand together and it is definitely much weaker when we are divided. I implore those members to wipe the slate clean for 2020 and ask them to stop associating with scammers either directly or indirectly as promoters, signature promoters, affiliates or associates.

We all should also hope 2020 will be the year the forum owners/operators will clamp down on the scammers that are using this forum as a vehicle to carry out their scams and modern day thefts by using Announcement threads and signature campaigns and promotions to spread the lies and propaganda to carry out their scams.

MERIT ABUSERS & FAKE TRUST:
Merit abuse and fake Trust exchanging between small circles of alt-accounts or like-for-like minded bullies/scammers is taking its toll too because several users that clearly pass merit between each and leave positive Trust for each other have gained DT1 and have even sent PMs threatening other users to retract various comments otherwise they will receive negative feedback.

As an example of merit abuse it was mentioned in the following OP by LoyceV about how user wolwoo had "earned" and then abused his DT1 ranking (which has subsequently just recently been revoked because too many DT1 users distrust him probably because of his condescending conduct) and how he had abused that DT1 ranking with retaliatory feedback: Reference topic: Why are these members excluded on trust lists? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5098623.0)

In a spectacular turn of events, the user wolwoo requested to be given Merit Source status even though he was outed as being part of a small circle of merit abuse and Trust collusion team: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5205906.0

I hope 2020 is the year this practice of merit abuse circles and fake trust circles stop or the owners/operators of the forum forcibly take action to put a stop to it.

Finally on a slightly different note, until 31st December 2019 (New Years Eve) my rank was Senior Member but just a few hours in to 1st January 2020 (New Years Day) I was ranked a Hero member. What a day to get there. Thank you all for being part of my journey here in the forum as I headed towards becoming a Hero member on New Years Day of all days. I hope to be able to contribute positively towards our forum for a long time to come and hope you all will be able to do the same too.

Thank you dear Bitcointalk Forum

Thank you for your support and kind words LFC_Bitcoin - it means a lot.

You are right when you said you added me to your Trust list when my account was ranked fairly low. You were one of the first highly ranked users that trusted me after noticing some of the scam alert contributions I made in the forum.

It was the Trust I received early on from several users including yourself that worked as a confidence booster which enabled me to carry on trying to contribute to the forum. As time went by other members with high rankings began noticing some of my contributions too and here I am today.

Happy New Year. Keep up the good work you do too. Thank you :)

I totally agree with you on this, and I hope this will change.
Maybe Theymos should make some trust system upgrade for this.

Congratulations JollyGood.

I wish you a year full of success and happiness.
Thank you, it is very kind of you say such kind words.

Forgive me but I would like to stress the importance of not allowing certain projects (including the one you are currently displaying in your signature) a foothold in the forum because of the negative posts being about them on a regular basis. Just their advertised work practices for their investbox service and furthermore their other questionable activities are clear and obvious indicators that they have no place on this forum. Granted other members are promoting them too but my message to everybody is the same.

As you correctly stated, I could have opted to display signatures for many projects but I refused to do so preferring instead to warn and alert others about some of the many scams out there. Kindly reconsider your position on displaying your current signature and participating in their campaign, please consider joining a different campaign instead. Thank you

We need more people like JollyGood here, who would never put there intrigrity down and always follow the right path towards making this place free from real scammers and not free from people having unpopular opinions (he rather tries to inform it's unpopular by discussion). Keep catching big fishes and saving community from frauds.

Wishing you a very energetic and wealthy full 2020, keep up the good work ! 8)

Might be the best one of these upranking threads I've seen yet..
Congrats man.. Very deserving..

Sorry about Cryptsy and thank you for your service..
Thank you for your kind words eddie13. A big thank you for all that you have contributed towards in the forum over the years.

Yes that Cryptsy scam set me back in my journey by a couple of years but eventually I returned to crypto when I concluded one devastatingly bad experience should not tarnish everything crypto-related. So many people lost money in the Cryptsy scam. That scammer Paul Vernon (owner of Cryptsy) allegedly made off to China with millions upon millions of stolen funds.

I hope all those that were affected by either Mt Gox, Cryptsy or any other scam have recovered sufficiently enough for them to be part of crypto in some way shape or form.

Congrats now you have only one step ahead. It looks like 1st of Jan 2020 is really amazing day for others as well :)
o_e_l_e_o just made it to the Legendary (on the second try) and another real legend is back - nullius.
So it a great start of a very promising year.
Good luck everyone :)
Thank you iasenko. I join you in extending congratulations to o_e_l_e_o for making it to Legendary rank.

I have no recollection of the user nullius but I will try to find some posts to try to discover why you hold him in such high esteem.

Happy new year and congrats to you.
You are one of the valuable member of this forum, especially for being scam buster, keep it up!
You have a good start of 2020, damn!
Thank you GreatArkansas, it is very kind of you to send your support. You have contributed so much to the community in various threads and your contributions have been much appreciated.

Please keep up the good work  ;)

Congratulations about reach hero member!
You make me so motivated to reach higher rank, Now I'am newbie I hope I can grow up fastly to reach full member
Thank you Jawhead999.

I have no doubt if you contribute in a manner which is acceptable and appreciated by the majority of the forum community then you will rise in the ranks fast. Wish you success.

Also, JollyGood, congratulations buddy, you did tremendously well! Your journey thus far is definitely worth something, despite its ups and downs. It really sucks what happened with cryptsy but head up dude.

Jolly Good Show old boy.  ;D

I'm currently reading all that I can here, before starting my own bitcoin talk journey. These kind of account histories set a pretty high bar for new members.

Well done, it would seem legendary is going to be merely a formality.
I wanted to make my first post on the 1/1/20, but I could not.

Congratulations fellow hero member ;)

Merit abuse and fake Trust exchanging between small circles of alt-accounts or like-for-like minded bullies/scammers is taking its toll too because several users that clearly pass merit between each and leave positive Trust for each other have gained DT1 and have even sent PMs threatening other users to retract various comments otherwise they will receive negative feedback. I hope 2020 is the year this practice stops or the owners/operators of the forum forcibly take action to put a stop to it.

I totally agree with you on this, and I hope this will change.
Maybe Theymos should make some trust system upgrade for this.
Thank you dkbit98 my fellow Hero member  ;D

In a thread there have seen some proposals made for modifications to the current merit and Trust system put forward, which if accepted by theymos will allow for action to be taken if a certain number of DT1 users vote in unison to counter what would have been posted by the alleged DT1 perpetrator. Maybe something will happen on that front if the community continues to ask for the system to be modified, time will tell I suppose.

I think scam busting on Bitcointalk can be incredibly fun, exciting, frustrating, addicting, educational, satisfying, annoying and tedious.  You do a great job.  You actually inspired me to start using that magic ignore button to minimize my wasting time with certain types. Hope you stick around for a long time.  Happy New Year.

*raises champagne glass full to the rim of non-alcoholic beverage back at you with a wink*    ;)

Yes that Cryptsy scam really took its toll on me, it set me back in my journey to learn more about crypto and invest further but in the end I suppose it is those negative experiences that are the making of a person and if you manage to somehow stay positive in the end things can turn around. I think I lost around just over 2.5 years between being scammed by Cryptsy and then taking an interest in crypto again.

I wonder what other stories are out there, we are all from varying backgrounds so am sure there must be plenty of them out there.

Well if I inspired you to use the IGNORE button on users that have a certain type of disposition, then I am happy to take some credit for it. I even had to add a recommendation in my negative trust that I left for known scammers employing sock-puppets such as "I added him to my IGNORE list and recommend you do the same".

It really does allow for time to be spent doing something constructive in the forum when minimising time spent reading trash posts from sock-puppets, condescending imbeciles and scam promoters. That magic IGNORE button as you call it definitely has uses.

I never set out to scam-bust or participate in scam related threads, it just happened over a period of time and recently I backed off taking time out mostly posting in other threads but I will be back spending more time on helping expose scams with an updated Scam Alert thread which hopefully will help protect users from becoming victims of scams.

Thank you for your kind words TwitchySeal. You are a highly respected member of our community so when you make positive comments it really does give confidence so thank you.

It is wonderful to see you still standing strong even after all the issues you faced with having a significant amount of your money stolen by the Rock Trading exchange scammers.

I really wish there was some way of helping you trying to get your funds back from the thieves at Rock Trading, those of us familiar with the background of your case supported the flag and contributed in the Scam Accusation thread, the only result we achieved was their representatives going on self-imposed exile from the forum (as well as the Rock Trading exchange being exposed as scammers).

Now we wait until you have news from the Arbiter, I hope the arbitration process will bring rewards for you in that not only will you receive your stolen funds back but we will hear the good news of this trash scam exchange (Rock Trading) being shut down by the Italian authorities.

Since you're in a signature campaign, the only reason you would have to criticize someone in the Chipmixer one is jealousy, and it shows.  As far as the "multi account" comment goes, I don't quite understand what you're getting at.  I'd ask you to clarify this but I have a feeling your response would be just as incoherent as your original comment.

I'm not going to engage in any drama in this thread, so I'll just say this in closing: if you don't like bitcointalk and have problems with members here, why don't you take your circus act over to cryptotalk.org, because I hear it's so much better.

Ha ha this is the kind of logic the pharmacist is able to employ. Poor retarded fool. Like there can be NO other explanation. I mean I know pharmacist has claimed HIS GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT SINCE JOINING THIS FORUM IS.......wait for it.....wait for it..........YEP GETTING ON CHIPMIXER SIG SPAMMING CAMPAIGN. Research, you will see this is true. But some people are not bothered about your chipmixer dust for themselves, they just do not want the double standards enforcement crew to be SPONSORED ALMOST ENTIRELY by chipmixer. Dark_star keeps out of politics but actually his actions demonstrate he supports and is willing to sponsor some VERY dangerous members. We have avoided calling him to answer for this to now but really, with all the evidence here against them he perhaps will need to be called on this eventually.

Jollygood "may" be okay at playing whack a mole with small scams.

But wait has jollygood has demonstrated though that he FEARS to tackle DT members who are trying to WORK WITH OR ENABLE SCAMS THAT HE HIMSELF HAS CONFIRMED ARE SCAMS proliferate here. See the mosprognoz should learn thread in rep, also the other one where mosprognoz claims he bullies a SCAM jolly good confirms is a scam to use escrow (happens to just be laudas his pals) and makes other strange suggestions to a SCAM that would enable them to be more "undercover " LOL

Jollygood is also tagging yobit advertisers SO LONG AS THEY ARE NOT DT members. Again double standards. I mean the logic behind not tagging the CM for that campaign is strange. Just tag anyone that pushes them or is involved with them at all. Ban people who push it after their first warning. Or else just admit you will allow scams to be advertised SO LONG as only DT and their pals and Campaign Manager mates can profit from it LOL

Pushing double standards = SCAMMING

You are deceiving people into believing that people should be punished for X behaviors, but you do not. You let your pals and other DT get away with the SAME or SIMILAR crimes for your own personal or FINANCIAL gains. I.E you get to keep on chipmixer route or DT and keep getting the lovely merits.

Debunk these points if you are able to.

Jollygoods trip up the old merit/rank/trust/potential chipmixer ladder would certainly not have happened so quickly should he have been FAIR AND HONEST to all members and not pushed double standards. This is clear. That is why this board is currently FUCKED. It demands gaming/abuse and double standards to succeed.

Fortunately if you have even half a brain you will be able to make FAR FAR FAR FAR more returns financially just from buying up cheap on long bears and dumping on bulls. Patience and research are key. Most should stop selling their ass and morals just for the best sig spamming rates.

He may not be AS bad as those he is scared to hold to his same standards he holds other members too. However being a scared little pussy with them means he is net negative on DT. Get some people on there with some fucking balls like Timelord, TS, OG, my very good self,  and others that WILL hold people to the SAME standards.

Read, understand, accept.

We have on particular issue with jollygood other than he is weak and scared of the same crew LFC_bitcoin and VOD have openly admitted to being terrified of. LOL

Not surprising really that board full of low level nerds are also wimpy 130lb virgins scared of any kind of threat to their accounts or not being part of the popular/scammy meta gang.  Haha

Keep going though jollygood, We hope you wake up soon and realize if you are a REAL scam hunter you must crush scammers at the highest levels of this forum, not  just pick on the weak non DT scammers.

Thank you The Pharmacist.

I appreciate any and all support when it comes my way but when members senior than me offer it (or offer constructive guidance or constructive criticism) it really means a lot and makes it all worthwhile because it puts everything in to perspective.

The few incidents I would cite as involving trolls and those individuals who I would describe as having a rather distasteful petty outlook cannot sour my experiences within this forum but the issues Coinfan referred to were probably about retaliatory trust/feedback in general and also some time back when a moderator from the Italian thread colluded with the Rock Trading (Italian crypto exchange) to try to turn forum opinion against Coinfan and instead supported Rock Trading even though they selective scammed around 80,000EUR worth of crypto from Coinfan thinking they would get away with it. The issue has been dealt with by arbitration for some time as far as I know.

These two links will allow you to understand the issue better but sadly my thread had its images hosted on tinypic so cannot be seen now:

Great to see you supporting JollyGood. For instance, just check 5 untrusted negative feedback he received on about 24h (2019-09-25 and 2019-09-26) after posting against the COINSBIT.EXCHANGE or the 5 negative he received after denouncing Bankera/Spectrocoin (between 2019-09-16 and 2019-09-13). All from controlled/alt accounts from the said "shady" exchanges.

Congratulations - I was just wondering why you have 1,246 UID's on your distrust list?

Thank you for congratulating me.

Well, in the latest trust list I have 1246 users added to my distrust list because I distrust them, I hope that answers your question.

Just to expand a little, I added some more today and they should show up at the weekend update.

Around 15% of those users on my distrust list went on to get banned for one reason or another and most of them were sock-puppets accounts.

Of the remaining 85% I distrust, I would estimate at least 80% are sock-puppets (either for hire via services or created specifically for pumping a particular thread).

The remaining approximate 5% I distrust are those I would cite purely on the basis of their post content as being either scammers, untrustworthy, foul-mouthed, condescending, disingenuous, trolls or maybe have shown other attributes or characteristics that make them in my opinion worthy of being added to my distrust list.

I question whether the internet really expands Dunbar's number or not?  Sure Dunbar's number is an estimate of the number of people with who we can maintain real relations for the real world, and some societal dynamics on the interwebs are just different, so we get to know a lot more people in different ways.  Of course if there are signs that they are a bot or disingenuine, then that might be apparent with little to no evidence.  Surely, there are some users with whom it becomes obvious, right away, that they are kind of a phony or a scammer.... Many others, it remains a lot less clear regarding whether they are genuine and/or not a bot, especially on the interwebs.

Of course, if you meet a real person in a social circle, you are going to be using different criteria to determine whether they are someone that you trust, and so far in the real world, we can usually rule out the bot aspect without even giving the matter more than 2 seconds of thought...

For example, meeting someone in person (let's call him Fred), and talk for about a minute or so, and after about 30 seconds, you have both ruled that Fred is not a bot (after about 2 seconds) and after about an additional 28 seconds, you have ruled that Fred seems a bit retarded.. at least a first impression...   You may go up to a trusted friend (let's call him Rob) and say, hey Rob, do you believe that Fred is a bit retarded?   After Rob engages you on the topic, you provide some additional information for your first impression conclusions, and thereafter Rob might give you information that either confirms or contradicts your first impression, and your then tentative conclusion might be based upon more than just your own 30 seconds of interacting with Fred.....

JollyGood is a very valuable member of this forum and you really deserve to be rewarded for what you have achieved.
Achieving the rank of Hero Member in 2020 is your highest increase and you are also one of the DT 1 members.

That ranking is very appropriate for you, because you are fighting the scam project by clearly analyzing the scam project and dismantling everything.
You are trusted by many other members in this forum, many of whom give positive trust in your work to fight scam projects.

Even the Signature that you use is the signature of several fraudulent projects that you successfully revealed, this is truly extraordinary. With Hero Hero ranking you should get a reward by joining the signature campaign that pays you, but you choose to use your own signature. Good job  8)

You raise an interesting point about interactions and conclusions.

For me, if someone fits the criteria in the forum that in my opinion shows they are scammers, untrustworthy, foul-mouthed, condescending, disingenuous, trolls or maybe have shown other attributes or characteristics that make them in my opinion worthy of being added to my distrust list - then that is enough.

In the concept of Robin Dunbar and his Number, how would I react using this forum as a comparator? Away from the internet, (in real-life) I have no idea about all the permutations, probabilities or possibilities but the general rule I would implement is almost the same because I would be inclined to distance or limit myself from those that I deem to be untrustworthy or worse.

Even that 150 number that is widely used as a measure would have to be analysed to understand what it entails. Even if there were a social circle of 150 people many of them would be grouped in to varying levels of trust and being trustworthy.

Thank you for the kind words taufik123, they are far more than I deserve. Our forum has many wonderful users contributing in their own way. There are far more active, effective and articulate users here than me, having said that I appreciate your support.

Since I have JolyGood on my trust network, only now I realized that he is now a DT member.

Congratulations on this much deserved achievement. Scammers better watch out. You will save many potential victims with your tags.

We all know how power changes many people on a negative way. This applies also to DT members, some have used their power of tagging just because of personal antipathies. I bet Jollygood won't be one of them.
