Title: Ethereum Tumbler/Mixer
Post by: Abiky on January 03, 2020, 06:59:11 PM
With the advent of Zero-Knowledge Proofs and other privacy techniques, someone might be able to create an Ethereum-based tumbler/mixer for the obfuscation of transactions from the general public. I'm aware that there are Bitcoin mixers around, but I haven't toppled with Ethereum-based ones. It would've been great to mix your ERC-20 tokens or even ETH itself in a decentralized manner. Something like a smart contract that would mix your ETH or tokens would do the trick. Now, I'm not sure if it's possible to integrate Zero-Knowledge Proofs into dApps yet, since the ETH blockchain cannot meet with the demands of everyday users (lack of scalability as a result of massive computations when obfuscating transactions).

But something like this would be quite revolutionary within the Blockchain industry. We would be dealing with decentralized mixing services instead of centralized ones (like it's the case today with Bitcoin). Governments might try to shut down ETH-based mixers/tumblers, but it'll be quite impossible to do so.

I'm starting to wonder, if an Ethereum-based mixer/tumbler exists? If so, can you recommended me the best dApps suitable for this task? ???

I do not know about any Ethereum mixer, but Bitcoin already has Wasabi wallet, that offers a great solution to stay anonymous, right?

And what about atomic swaps? You swap ETH for any other altcoin and then you swap it back?

i do know a website like that before but unfortunately i forgot to save the link and the website that has this feature is not like a dApps it's just like mixer
which we need to deposit then wait for them to mix the coin.

How about the Heiswap?
I just heard them on ethereum twitter it seems it's not widely use and not well known tool for Ethereum to mix.

Ohhh... it seems someone already posted it here read this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5162494.0

did you already try that? because I'm afraid that after we deposit there then our balance won't be returned by them

the topic was for eth i guess and not for btc  . also op asks for eth mixer  and not for a kind of wallet   . wasabi is only a wallet and i dont think that it has the ability to make you anonymous but mixing service are  .

And what about atomic swaps? You swap ETH for any other altcoin and then you swap it back?
that was a kind of exchange  right  ? exchange mainly works on exchanging coins but that does not make your transactions untrackable .

there are few eth mixing service that i hear on the past but i havent tried them yet   . i only tried btc mixing service   so far  .

I did a quick search using "ethereum coin mixer" and a lot of centralized mixers pop out but I also found an old article A Decentralized Mixer For Ethereum? Zcoin Is Working on It (https://www.coindesk.com/a-decentralized-coin-mixer-for-ethereum-zcoin-is-working-on-it) I guess the project is getting closer to getting it done.

There are several thread who discussed about ETH mixer but I haven't found a legitimate place to laudering ETH, you can check these threads below

2. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2168932.0

Be careful with with this platform because it is scam

Interesting. Never heard about Heiswap before, but its concept of mixing ETH looks very promising. I wonder why it didn't turn out to become a big hit in the first place? We need more decentralized mixing solutions that would provide privacy without the risk of downtime or single points of failure. Knowing that centralized Bitcoin mixers have been the targets of worldwide governments, many people have been on the look for other alternatives to preserve their privacy. A cool way of doing this would be to make use of Zero-Knowledge proofs and smart contracts for mixing ETH and ERC-20 tokens in a decentralized manner. Even if the main website is shut down, or censored by the authorities, people will still be able to mix their Ether through the use of smart contracts. Performing Zero-Knowledge computations might not be viable at the moment since ETH is not scalable for the world. But once Ethereum upgrades to PoS, things will become interesting for decentralized mixing services using smart contracts functionality.

Nonetheless, I hope to see an emergence of Ethereum tumblers/mixers within a couple of years from now. Whenever we'll see this become a reality or not will truly depend on people's demand within the mainstream world. Until then, people will use non-custodial mixers for Bitcoin or privacy-oriented cryptocurrencies for their own benefit. Just my opinion :)

an ethereum Mixer for token i think it will be good for users but for now i don't see any mixer available for tokens.
And if there is maybe it will be booming?
