Title: Coming from altcoin to bitcoin
Post by: Ken_terrance on January 11, 2020, 01:01:24 PM
I don't know if its the right call or not but i just feel like its better to sell my bags of altcoins for bitcoin, most of the altcoins i owned are not top altcoins, mostly new coins from bounties and I've seen coins worth of 2k turn 20$ while holding them, finally i decide to take out the losses and invest in bitcoin, if you are holding any altcoins that aren't good enough do not hesitate to sell for bitcoin to at least make some profits

deciding to sell new altcoins is indeed the right choice because they are not worth holding for a long time, but when we hold altcoins that already have good popularity in this market then i don't think they should be sold, because when the bullish trend comes on the market these altcoins who already have a reputation will get improvement too and i'm sure about that

For me, selling all your altcoins just for bitcoin is a wise decision. In fact I am also planning to do so. It is not just bitcoin halving that is luring me to do so. It is just I have realized that bitcoin is the only coin that will be in demand for years. And there is no doubt that price of bitcoin will increase or remain stable. But never go down like altcoins.

The different between altcoins and bitcoin is marginal, its a wise choice going all in for bitcoin and abandoning new altcoins, they lose value in short term and few ones never goes up again, the best strategy is to invest in bitcoin, when you made better money you an invest in top altcoins too

Taking steps to sell alt for bitcoin is a good way to reduce risk. If the top altcoin in my opinion is still legitimate in investing, because price movements are still likely to follow Bitcoin. for the new project I suggest not to focus too much and invest as a whole. Portfolio allocation is indeed very important to take maximum advantage. The main bitcoin in my opinion is the right step, and halving is coming soon.

You're lucky they still have prices.

Since I got to know crypto through this forum, almost all new altcoins that were launched at that time, are now experiencing a price reduction of up to 97% compared to when opening trade where it has increased up to 3x the initial offering price.
If we look more closely at the new altcoin big traders, they'll no longer hold and trade it. To be exact, they only last a few moments from opening trade (say 2 to 3 months). After that, they will change their original assets to Bitcoin, and wait for another new altcoin to come again to pump the price at the beginning of the trade started as they did in the previous altcoin they left behind.

So my advice, if you hold new altcoins, sell them while you have good prices and don't expect their prices to creep up by holding them longer.

Good call right now. I would say that hopefully you are not in too much loss but of course you are depending on how long did you hodled them. There will be an altseason too i think but right now i wouldn't bet to anything that goes down in btc. And it seems like almost everything decent does.

This depends on the activity of altcoin.  If the one I holding happens to be dying, then I will not hesitate to convert it to Bitcoin but if the one I am holding have a huge community and delivers its roadmap then, I won't sell it to Bitcoin at a lost.  I will wait till I can get my capital back or have at least a little profit before exchanging it to Bitcoin.

Agree. This and the upcoming years are high time for Bitcoin as halving is near and past result always been good for post halving price. At least you're really sure about your alts, I suggest going all-in Bitcoin instead.

The recent Us-Iran tension has proved that Bitcoin is perceived as store of value by most people as the price was jumped by more than $1,000 shortly after the event.

you do not need to hesitate to sell the coin that is not good enough but you can not blindly sell a coin that is not top coin because it still has a chance to make a comeback.
I have been holding a coin from top 1000 project for a year, I keep holding it because they are still actively developing their even though they are not top coin. and it turned out it goes back to where it was, there is no harm in holding a low cap project.

Yeah, we must sell quickly altcoins or tokens from bounties or airdrops if we don't have idea what will going on with that, i think convert it in btc will make you relax, not thinking it will dump so for like that.
I'm also just sell 50% token from bounties when i got paid, becuse in 2017's moment give me some experience that don't hold so long if it not top token or don't have potential.

That is rare, which is good, in my opinion, altcoin which is not in the top coins, so I think it is useless and it is better to sell it and then invest in bitcoin in my opinion, that's a good idea.
When I get a new token from the bounty, I immediately sell it and don't hold it for a long time because I know that altcoin no longer has good potential, so it's better to throw it at a cheap price than there is no value at all.

Yes, that will be the best decision in your side as most of the altcoins that are not listed in at least top 20 are almost struggling right now due to high percentage of bitcoin dominance.

Earning a small profit by selling your altcoins is a good choice then invest it to bitcoin as there is a big chance that bitcoin will continue to grow due to it's high demand from the big whales. I am not really fan with bitcoin due to it's high price therefore I prefer the top 2-5 coins to invest as there is a big chance that my little investment will multiply once the market will recover again.

Turning altcoins to Bitcoin is actually a good decision.
Altcoins are holding on so far considering the unstable situation of cryptocurrencies nowadays so your best bet would be holding on to bitcoins.

Converting the altcoin that I am holding to bitcoin is exactly what I am doing now. The majority of altcoins today are just around bitcoin and depend on bitcoin.
I used to hold 30% of bitcoin in my total capital, but now it has increased to 50%. The remaining 50%, 30% are in USDT and 20% in altcoin.

I hope you don't cut lose that much when you sell your altcoins for bitcoins.
In my case, I would not gamble anymore, I will just wait until altcoins will rise so I could sell, maybe if BTC surpasses its ATH and there's a bull run for BTC but altcoins are still down, then that would be the time I have to sell as I have no choice but at this stage, I don't think it's the right action.

For me it was a right call mate!Go ahead and sell those not performing altcoins and buy some bitcoin or coins that looks promising, i'm already experience those kind of situation last 2018 when i was holding some altcoins and hoping that it will be more valuable in a few months time, but i was wrong! instead most of the altcoins prices that i was holding was getting lower and lower each day and when i decided to sell, its already too late. because most of the altcoins price was already -75 percent from the time that i bought it. that's why don't let the same mistake will happen to you, sell it now for good.

Splitting investment to many coains at least 5 coins is the best way to invest in cryptocurrency because price of the coins pump and dump in different time so we have time to manage our investment if one of our coins having a dump or pump. Holding 100% investment on bitcoin is not bad but holding many coins at once is a better option for me

In my opinion what you are doing is the right choice and I personally will also choose or make the same decision as what you are doing that is selling new coins that I get for me to reinvest into bitcoin even though I sell the new coins at the price down and get a loss, I personally will not regret it because I use it for my investment back into bitcoin which I personally think is more potential to make a profit and hope that the losses that I could previously be covered.

That will be up to you because that is your coins. However, if you believe that your coins can increase in the future, you should still hold the coin and not selling right now. We don't know what will happen in the future, but we know that the crypto market still trying to rise again after it's down for a long time, and now, you are lucky to see that your coin still has a price. I still hold some altcoins in my wallet, and I am sure that my coin will be increased in the future, and that is why I still hold it.

We know that all coins follow bitcoin movements and if the bull run comes, and that makes bitcoin price increase, the altcoin will follow to increase. That means we have a chance to sell the altcoin to rise again. But once again, if you decide to sell it right now, you don't need to be sad if, in the future, you see that your coin increase higher.

It is best to take a look at what the altcoins status now and let's see if they are progressive or not. And if you look at this and there is no hope of price increase that it would be better to sell and buy bitcoin especially now that bitcoin is cheap. Because it's definitely worth our investment here once the bitcoin bull run starts.

Maybe if you have bigger funds you can use it to invest in other top altcoins to compile a good portfolio.

If the condition is like you, i will agree to sell that coins. Actually i get same experience too, and i sell my coins from bounty maybe around $10 or $30. And with that i learn that if the price is good, or already enough although not ICO price, sell your tokens.  ;D

It's better to do that but, isn't it better for you to put some into the altcoins that if following the bitcoin direction? Not a lot of altcoins are getting the bearish trend and it looks like that some altcoins that have developed the product are following bitcoin right now. Im still having a big chunks in crypterium and im still at 3x profit right now as i have bought that when the price was around $0.1.
The direction of this coin is also very straight with bitcoin too. Im also having some bitcoins too.

It's a good advice for mostly bounty hunters, when you make any profits no matter how small it is always pull them out while you can, reinvest it into bitcoin or too 10 altcoins, they are more reliable than other coins, few new altcoins are good if you know how to detect them.

For now, I think that new projects are difficult to develop the projects that they are carrying and instead many tokens that are obtained from them end up with no value. But it is true that sometimes we have to think about it before deciding to sell it and know about the project and the team behind it in developing the project, even though selling it and reinvesting it into BTC is a good choice too but sometimes we need to rethink and not blindly sell everything new coins we have.

Considering the entire crypto ecosystem and new coins entering the Altcoin market, it is not worth it to hold some new altcoins for long. I always advice people to sell them for top cryptocurrencies because most of these new coins do not really have anything to add to the crypto ecosystem. If you decide to keep a new altcoin, you should know and understand what that coin is introducing into the crypto market and how different and unique its ideologies are. If it has a particular purpose, it is okay to hold unto it..

The things you do are correct. Do not be too long to hold altcoin from the bounty. It's hard to predict when prices will rise. But, better don't sell altcoin quickly which is obtained from the bounty. You better look at the information in their telegram group, whether they want to be listed on a large exchange or not.

Yes it is also right in the current time to transfer your all money from other assets to bitcoin as the price of bitcoin is rising faster but you also need to keep in mind that when altcoin season come then all of the altcoins will rise so in that time try to buy a number of good altcoins. It will be a good trading strategy for all of the traders as it will increase our money as well as in the altcoin season it will increase our bitcoins.

Buying bitcoin has never been a bad idea when the user is interested in holding long term. Some altcoins can give better profits but most will die in the long run so don't hesitate as you said but profits will not come over night or in weeks, someone who wants more profits then this is the right time hopefully the chances of price hit $28K after few months of halvening so its huge price from the current one.

Every activity has risk, even we sell all altcoin into bitcoin it doesn't mean we can get profit. I know your point but we also know not all coin not already listing so where we can get the buyer?. Some people use shit coin as give away, and rest of them sell it just like you. To hold shit coin is really problem but I must say your advice is right, sell all to get money and invested into bitcoin. Market still in red zone but I'm sure as popular coin bitcoin will have bigger chance to rise again.

In crypto currency, it's good to have a strategy when handling your portfolio.

But you do not clear all bags of altcoins.
Some few altcoins will give you more profits that bitcoin in few month's.

So the question is what type of altcoin. Do you have in your bag???

I know many people have done the same because new coins posses a lot of risk, as they are already way below ico prices secondly there is always risk of failure or exit scam so yes considering the current market this is correct strayegy but you can always filter the good one's, i mean if there are couple among dozens you hold that you think are really good projects with competent teams then you should hold and they will be worth it. During last cycle there were big runs shown by such under dog projects and this time around it will happen again, it is just a matter of time.

Eerrm! That depends on the coin you are talking about. Some coins might be doing badly now, but some of them could go up when the market start booming. Especially, the ones backed by potentially good products and market.
And, of course, Bitcoin is the best choice when it comes to buying.

If those alts are not from the top then it's okay to sell those for bitcoin but those losses that you have made with that, I think you should start to accept the fact that you have made it because you invested wrongly with those alts.

Finally, you can recover it by reinvesting to bitcoin and keep it increasing overtime.

of course a very good idea is that your new altcoin is more profitable if its change in the form of bitcoin ,anyway bitcoin will start recovery in next few months and its highly recommended we all do that ,but you need to add old altcoin for some possibilities that will happen later must be conditioned in making a profit

That’s a right call for you mate and you should done that before but its ok at least now you realize that holding small tokens doesn’t give you a big profit, its good to know that you are converting your altcoins to btc. Remember that you should still have to buy altcoins like eth, bnb and other top altcoins because its almost the same with BTC. This is will be more fun with BTC, made a good decision now and enjoy the result later this year.

you just make a good decision to invest your money in bitcoin. But i think investing all of your money in just one coin is not good too. You should have 1 or more alternative assets. Try to find some altcoins that have a good potential in the future and have a good progress on their project.

I think that in general it's a good call but maybe not now. You have been holding altcoin bags all the way down but Bitcoin at that time was also losing value just slower.

Now you're thinking of selling altcoins and buying bitcoin when it's recovering and the price gap between it and altcoins have increased even more. I don't know what to tell you. You're in a very bad position anyway.

Same here. Holding many new altcoins is too risky. We can make some portfolio lists which coins are probably worthy to hold and which should be sold immediately after listing. for, many coins will drop drastically after first listed in an exchange. Personally, I also always sell all my altcoins and convert it to BTC or ETH with a very dropped price. However, for the coins that have a future product for real use case, I think it doesn't matter to make a half only for selling and least for investment.

But, the problem of many new altcoins is that they are not even listed in the exchange, although it has been more than 3 months. I still have many coins that are not listed yet after more than one year, so bad to know this kind of altcoin.

that's the right step. I personally experienced that. I held a coin bounty from 2016 and reached the highest price peak in 2017. I think it will last and continue to increase. but in 2018. most of my coins are junk. I slowly sold it to bitcoin, hoping that some other altcoins would pump again. but it never happened. and finally when I get paid from the bounty, I have to sell it quickly. I feel it will become rubbish, if held for too long.

I agree with you if the altcoin we have or hold is not the top altcoin that has the potential then it should be sold and replaced with bitcoin. then hold it until bitcoin pumps. I currently hold bitcoin and also some of the top altcoins. I still believe in the top altcoins because when bitcoin goes up, the top altcoins can also go up with a higher percentage. actually if we can choose the right altcoin we can still make a profit.

Personally I don't have altcoin right now, even though it's ETH. I have made everything into bitcoin. Because for now, I don't want to speculate on the old altcoin. My mind is also unstable.
Yes, in May bitcoin will be halving, but we don't know when the effect will start to arise and affect the price movement. At least I want to believe that bullish will come.

I did the same thing.  I used to hold about 20 different altcoins but realize it was kind of stupid.  There are a few key coins to hold: Bitcoin, Etherium, and maybe a couple of good altcoins.  Maybe a total of 5 coins.  That's all that I think we should hold.

You can coming up to any coin as we do. During Bitcoin halving we should hold our Bitcoin for profits. Same to altcoins, don't sell any coin if their upcoming news is good. In this bad market any good coin price can't dump as much as you mentioned. If any coin survive in this bear market, that coin will have huge success.

Me too i got many altcoins holding i got it on bounty but i sell them all in a small amount ang i buy ether. Bitcoin is very good were to invest our money but ether also is good so when the time i sell my altcoins i buy some ether to hold abd wait for the price will goes up. Bitcoin and ether is a good to hold for a long term.

Indeed, we should at least hold Bitcoin even though the amount is small. There may be some tokens from bounties that are feasible in the long run, but we should sell them when prices are above the ICO or IEO prices. If we still want to hold altcoin, altcoin should have a large transaction volume and be traded at large exchangers

of course a very good idea is that your new altcoin is more profitable if its change in the form of bitcoin ,anyway bitcoin will start recovery in next few months and its highly recommended we all do that ,but you need to add old altcoin for some possibilities that will happen later must be conditioned in making a profit
Not really and its contradicting the post and the title of the thread. Bitcoin is much profitable for day and long term investing and only few altcoins can increase their value if there is a good news about the project.

And selling those altcoin are good if you think it is profitable and not losing some profit when you bought them before selling it for bitcoin.

Selling an altcoin that does not have a pitential and switching to Bitcoin is a very precise decision because now many new altcoins are not worth so many investors who feel at a disadvantage, and in this year Bitcoin and Altcoins are already Have a pitensi growing back and this is a good time to invest in it, because for the future we must be able to reap a big profit in order to redeem any losses in the previous year.

The fact is so. You can see alts with low marketcap in Binance as an example. When bitcoin suddenly grew, many small speculators got out and bought bitcoin. This greatly reduces the value of small alts. so in uptrend we should buy and hold the top alts or bitcoins, the small alts are often mistreated. This is my own experience, we should only buy and speculate on small alts for a short time when the market is sideways. That's how we optimize profits and reduce the most risk of losses.

It better to decide now, you already know your current status and to see that you're not really satisfied with your altcoins.
Bitcoin is the best coin for investment, even you have to sacrifice for selling your altcoin for this sake but it for sure you are not able to regret it in the future. You will have to act wisely before the opportunity gets lost.

if that is true, that you have altcoin which is not the top altcoin then you make good choices, such as upgrading your altcoin to bitcoin. maybe I will also make that decision if I have a useless altcoin. bitcoin is one of the promising investments of all cryptoqurrency in this industry.

hold altcoin with a very long time can not give you a guarantee to be able to get a profit, altcoin is more suitable if used for short-term trading and by trading on altcoin the risk will be higher, you should be able to be careful when trading on altcoin.

This happened this time last year when every altcoin holders were moving into bitcoin but do you think this will happen this year? Most altcoins are not in weak hands. Some people are buying these altcoins, especially the good ones and they are not fools. Exchanges are the top altcoin manipulators and they will come in good time. I dont know when but cryptocurrency space is not always that predictable as you think.

You should only hold top altcoin and sell all altcoin which not in top 30 because these altcoin can not be exchange directly into usd, you must exchange these into bitcoin first and this may drop much in bitcoin bullrun. You should decide as soon as possible because i feel that bitcoin bullrun is coming.

Within few years time most of the altcoins will struggle to survive or be dead. The best option to secure your investment is to invest in Bitcoin for long term.

There are some who will say you to diversify your portfolio. I agree too but major investment should be in Bitcoin.

If the altcoins you are holding are from bounty, it is best to sell them all as soon as possible and buy bitcoin or the top altcoins in this market. Great, I think you will make a profit from bitcoin if you decide to invest in bitcoin. By the way, altcoin can also help you to make a profit, but it's only if you can select the right coin because, in the market, there are so many potential altcoins that can give us the profit. But unfortunately, we don't know which coin can provide that way to us, so we need to analyze one by one of the coins so we can get that coin. It will need time before we can get the right coin, but trust me, that is worth to do that.

Well, you have just made the right choice and decision of selling them out. It will be just a stressful matter keeping and holding into Altcoins you know that are not worthy to spend time and effort holding for a long period of time. Once you have identified and proven that those are no good anymore, sell them and decide the best thing to do on how you can use the money you will get from it. Since you have mentioned that you have just sold out those Altcoins that do not belong to the top rank Altcoins, why have not you tried investing into those that are into the top? It will surely be worthy since the recent ones you have are not on the list, I think it will worth a try to still get into Altcoins but this time, you will be getting into the top rank Altcoins now. It is a good decision investing all of your money into Bitcoin since we all know that Bitcoin is a well-known cryptocurrency which is really worthy but having Altcoins aside from it will also be much worthy as long as you choose those that have the potential of growing.

You can holding with altcoin but looking first how much transaction volume of you coin holding, you can compare with other altcoin could raise more than 100% from price on the early when listing with exchange market, not all coin have the same progress because many altcoin have lower price after holding with long term, check about developer how to get their coin keep on higher price.

Yes this time is the time for to wait halving and to be prepared for that so we need to buy as much bitcoin as possible and if someone do not have money and have all in cryptocurrencies then if they want they can put some of their coins in bitcoin to get the halving pleasure while after that if the see their coins rising in value then they can again put their money in that altcoins to not miss the chance of profit.

That's really a good idea because the most of altcoins are really so bad ans not profitable at all. It's kinda rare to find a good crypto currency beside Bitcoin that good enough, like the shitty coins are really a lot in the coin market cap. Altcoins are really good when we're talking about trading because it's really profitable if you buy a lot of em cheap and sell them in short term period when they're increasing.

There is no one that held on through the 2018 bear market that did not lose money doing so, investment of $10k turns $30, tokens of $1 turns $0.0002. Well, it depends on what you're selling.

If you're selling worthless tokens that are bound to go to zero due to their inherently crap fundamentals, then kudos to you because getting into bitcoin is a smart decision to make given that bitcoin has very strong fundamentals and will continue to be a stable force in the crypto space.

If you're selling certain undervalued coins (XMR for example comes to mind) then it could potentially mean that you miss out in future pumps, but even then it wouldn't matter by much since BTC generally sets the pace of the crypto market. You'll still reap the benefits of a bull market for sure.

You have nothing to worry buddy, you have the right choice and absolutely not regrettable.
Diversification is somewhat not new to everyone and besides, it happens most of the time especially when we see profitability with the other coin. We know how bitcoin is on the move nowadays and holding low performer altcoins is no help at all for them to stay. Better to sell it and convert it into Bitcoin because it for sure, you'll become more profitable at this time. You will lose on the other side but you also gain on the other side in returns (more than enough to consider).

If you came from worst situations with altcoins, then proper diversions will take place. Reverting our mode of holdings can be done through bitcoin as an asset, and don't hold altcoins if you see no improvement in the long run.
We should make things as first priority, in case if there's a fear of bigger lost when holding non sustainable alts.

Obviously, no need to be a top altcoin, it is enough to have real product and team. But if they do not have these qualities and you think they will not succeed in the future, I support you in your decision. The weak altcoins you mention will weaken as time passes by, so you lose more every second you are late to sell. Buy and switch to BTC, IMO losing at BTC makes you feel better than losing at altcoins like them.

This is actually what most of the investors or the bounty hunters think and it is what dumps the price for the newly launched token/coin which hits the exchange. In my opinion, you can hold the tokens which has potential and also which has a strong product behind.

Also holding utility token can be beneficial as the demand for utility tokens rises up much quickly once the project launches as the investors buys the utility tokens and it creates the demand no matter how many bounty hunters sell their tokens. If you see the volume increasing in a ascending manner for any of such utility token which you earned from the bounty campaigns than you can hold that token because there is a possibility to have high growth of that coin in the coming future.

you'll probably regret for selling the bottom..
the sentence dont buy top and dont sell the bottom - is just about situations like this
alts may go more down, but most of them look really interesting on the charts
yes bitcoin may run up now, but with alts you can double your bitcoin holdings or triple it

A good investment is indeed in Bitcoin and it doesn't hurt to invest in some of the top altcoins. Unless you are investing in new tokens / coins which certainly do not have considerable potential. More Bitcoin in your portfolio and add some altcoin.

It depends on which altcoins that you're holding. In your case, you're holding a new altcoins from bounties, it's risky actually hodling your rewards especially from new projects. You've already seen that the value from 2k turn to $20. Nowadays, it's hard for new coins to survive in this market, either they could have a good price or died in the process.

So it's your choice if you want to switch to bitcoin after all that, or you could also turn to major altcoins. Of course with a proper research.

IMO, you did the right thing. I made this step almost two years back. And looking back, I am happy with the outcome. The problem with the altcoin market is that there is no real usage with any of these coins. And there are too many of them in existence, with dozens more being created and listed every day. I am not sure whether there will be a recovery in the altcoin market, at some point in the near future. But I am sure about one thing. There is no room in the market for 10,000 different cryptocurrencies.

You have made the right steps even though you are too late to realize it, you realize when the coins you have are getting less and less the value of the price and then start selling it and buying bitcoin as an investment.
Actually, most people are now doing it, selling bounty tokens and buying bitcoin. if there are still people who are loyal to hold the bounty token, it means that person has extraordinary optimism, has imagination beyond limits. ;D

Yes. That's right, I doing that thing in the past when I have a lot of bounty rewards. Every payments I've received I been sold on btc or usdt. If ever what they pairs that can sell alt coins and accumulate bitcoin while in the dip price. That is very effective to earn massive money but not all time sometimes alt coins are dead after the selling.

The coins you got from bounties would depend on the current market demand. Their price might quickly drop if the number of bounty hunters are excess in the campaign and also if the project has allocated a huge number of tokens to the campaign than the possibilities of the coin getting dumped as soon as listed on exchanges is much higher because most of the bounty hunters sell their earned coins on the exchange as soon as the project hits the exchange.

So in this scenario, it would be good for you to even sell your coins at the current market demand and convert those to bitcoins or any other major altcoin which can yield you higher profits. I personally, trust least of the bounty coins.

you should not lose hope besides the long waiting is can give you high profit . Thats why theres still many people trusting too much in altcoin because they can give them high rewards in exchange for waiting too long.

not everyone can take the decision you take like that, just look at many people who already feel loss because altcoin and tokens are falling in price, that's a risk in trading, sometimes we have to know when to make the right decision to sell and switch even though we feel loss , I only hold the best altcoin so prices don't fall too deep
Indeed. Not everyone can take that kind of decision because everybody still feels that their altcoins from bounties could still have a good value, even it will not, that is why they chose to hold it until it has a good value. I think he is making a right decision that he should only invest his shitcoins into bitcoins, so that it could be a worth even just a small amount.
if I get altcoin from work as a bounty hunter, I will throw it away if it's not worth it, so just hoping what we hold will have value in the future we don't know, I'm just saying not many people have thoughts like OP, actually it's a way good to convert altcoin to bitcoin because we know that bitcoin can go up to 10x from the current price so that it returns the capital for the holder, actually this method depends on how people can think quickly to make decisions and it must have been calculated

in investing or trading daily we can choose to make an exchange from altcoin to bitcoin, there is actually no mistake if doing the opposite exchange is most important we can look for potential coins. sometimes things like this have to do with the aim of making a profit or securing the funds they have.

Nothing to go against your idea. That is the very tough time to make a decision when to stick with your coin especially when it is new believing that it will spike up sooner or later on. So to avoid the worst case scenario then sell it for more better profit. However I suggest that split it up to some top alts at least those top 5.

Although the exchange rate from altcoin to bitcoin is far, but I think you will enjoy the results later. So don't regret what you have decided. Because that is the best decision.

Holding an altcoin I think you have to choose a good one and be in the top rank to minimize losses. Bitcoins if when the time of the dump does not hold them if you want to short term, it is better to choose an altcoin. But buying bitcoins for the long term is great to try and do not have to cry out the loss of selling altcoins in case of the mass dump on altcoins.

in choosing an investment can depend on the initial goal first, if you invest long-term it would be more suitable to choose bitcoin but if you make a short-term investment we can choose coins that have potential. we need to look for potential in every investment that will be run by us.

Reevaluating your crypto profile is normal but limiting it to only one crypto will also limit the scope of what you can only earn. Bitcoin has indeed constant ups and downs and you can't go wrong with it as long as you invest it below 5 or 6k then sell it on 8. But there are altcoins that start cheap and end up to to good investment in the end. It's just finding which alt will survive the market.

Now I think it's not a bad idea because bitcoin will definitely surge higher after the halving, I am holding half a bitcoin and no matter what it worth a now I know it will worth more in near future that's why I've decide to keep, altcoins are too disappointing that's why I don't rely much on them, to me it's just trying out luck when investing in altcoins

People are moving from altcoins to bitcoin is different than each other all depending on which altcoin they actually came from, I mean if you came from an altcoin that looked like there is no upside to it and will be going down, it is actually smart to get rid of them, however if you came from something like ethereum for example it is actually not a really smart move because that could still go up.

So, if you want to move to bitcoin which is understandable, it is better to just check how much value your altcoin could potentially gain by researching all the upcoming stuff about that coin, if there is a hope for it then I would say it is good idea to stay in that altcoin, if it looks like there is no hope for it then it is better to just sell it and move to bitcoin all together.

Well, that was the right and the most practical way to do once you have already sorted out those worthy and unworthy Altcoins because even there are lots of so call shit coins in the part of altcoin market, still there are lots of existing potential and worthy coins that are good for holding. Selling unworthy Altcoins can totally gave back your capital to somehow afford buying even cents of Bitcoin since it is the worthy coin among all existing cryptocurrencies in the market. Selling Altcoins for the sake of buying Bitcoin is good as long as you only sell those unworthy Altcoins since it will be regretful once you have sold those worthy Altcoins because you have loose your patience waiting until such time the price get into an increase. Proper sorting out of your assets will be a good strategy to do better strengthen your portfolio.

It's sad you found out the truth late when your gains must have dropped badly, nevertheless it was a good call you made. Most altcoins today are not good for holding, especially the new altcoins because the project teams are only after their own gain and once achieved turns a blind eye to the development of the project; if one is to check the percentage of new altcoins which are successful, they won't reach 1%, although I might be wrong. Therefore I agree with you once more that you made a good call, it's either you hold top altcoins or you hold BTC, it is as simple as that, and gives peace of mind.

Altcoins are profitable investment as well but you have to choose the right coin to invest in. If you're just holding a new coins or a coin/token from bounties, do some digging if its worth to hold for some time and earn profit.

If you're not certain about the alts you hold then switch to bitcoin or in top alts because they are already well-established and unlikely to be delisted in exchanges hence it is safe to hold even for long period.

People prefer selling altcoins and invest in bitcoin, when the altcoin price goes up the get huge sell and people either shift it to Bitcoins or Stable Coins.

Check the charts. BTC has recovered more than 50% of the value it lost in 2018. Right now the BTC exhcange rate is around half of the ATH level which was achieved in 2017. The same can't be said about any of the altcoins. For example, Ethereum is now trading at $200 per coin, which represents a 85% decline from the ATH levels. Other alts such as LTC and XMR are even worse off.

Well you've made the right choice, keeping tokens from bounties won't get you anywhere, only very few tokens from bounties surged alot but it rarely happens, it's better to go for Bitcoin or top altcoins, most new coins are rubbish

Many people probably experience a similar decision. Selling low priced altcoins and buying bitcoin is not a bad move.
Bitcoin has a huge potential and people trust it the most. Personally, I wouldn't just put everything in bitcoin. Part I would also invested in top altcoins.

It is wrong to think that all top altcoin is safe. It is often seen that some top coins are dumped. Doing so could put your money in danger because there is no sign to recover those coins. There are some coins that were in the top 50, and scammed investors. So it’s hard to believe any altcoin. Holding Bitcoin is a good option, as there is no chance of losing your entire fund here. also Bitcoin's bright future awaits, because Bitcoin will have that adoption, and no other coin will have that much adoption.

We don't know what will happen in the future, but we know that the crypto market is still trying to bounce back after a long time and now, you're lucky to see your money still have price. Especially now bitcoin is cheap. Because it is definitely worth our investment here once the bitcoin bull run begins.

Well investing in Bitcoin is a sure bet if you're playing the long game. However, if you research projects, it's likely that there are alts that that will outperform BTC when prices start to rally. These alts would be a better choice to buy and hodl.

I guess you chose to invest in Bitcoin. If it is for long, keep it. If it's for the short term, you might consider a few altcoins again. Basically, selling it is the right choice. Bitcoin can do better and even if there are no guarantees or guarantees for good returns, it is still better because it is good for long-term investment.

Yub. You got the point. If you wanna hold BTC to wait for long-term profit. Go with it! However, if you are more like a short-term-profit type of person. You should consider to trade a few potential altcoins in the mean time. By that way, you can earn short-term profits but still hold a large part of BTC in your wallet.

look guys the op is not a trader but he was just a hunter before because he already owns a bag of alts till this date   . bounty coins are different from good alts that are mainly use for short term trades because those coins can fluctuate and have a guaranteed value   .  bounty coins are best for long term but still up to him if he decided to retire as a hodler he can sell and forget eveything or forget regrets  .  while for me i will prefer to hodl it and keep on hoping for thier comeback  but i will be regretting the time that i dont sell them before for good amount of cash
