Post by: cryptoaddictchie on January 12, 2020, 06:34:00 AM
For all the newbie who just created their accounts or those who still grasping or learning information about the forum let me share with you these cool facts that probably some dont know. Or even higher member ranks that slip this info on their sleeves.

Did you know that aside from Bitcoin you can pay copper membership using also grin coin? Looks like theymos love this altcoin project. You can pay to become a copper member using grin coin

Did you know that there are five users with Paint brush unique badges. These guys won in the art contest voting in line with the celebration of 10th Anniversary of Forum.
1. Corrosive (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2005913)
2. Yatsan (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=857883)
3. taufik123 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=831523)
4. Kalemder (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=487377)
5. dannybrown (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=509189)

Did you know that the highest  signature paid campaign in forum is called Chipmixer (I'd love to be part of this if given chance) which is handled by DarkStar_. Here is their Campaign Thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1935179.0)

Did you know that the merit system was implemented on January, 24, 2018 and served as one of the major changes that ever made in forum. Here is the Announcement (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0)

Did you know that if your post count reached 1337 your post count will display the word "leet" instead of 1337 which is not a bug but probably a system generated by forum if ever you hit this mark so dont panic. Theymos probably coded thr forum to make it like that.

From Wikipedia (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leet)

The term "leet" is derived from the word elite, used as an adjective to describe formidable prowess or accomplishment, especially in the fields of online gaming or computer hacking. The leet lexicon includes spellings of the word as 1337 or l33t.

Did you know that if an account has suddenly woke up from a long period of inactivity or change password recently there is a warning or prompt message from forum when you click the users trust page something like this. Which can be warned other's that the account might be hacked or bought. I just recently know about this.

Example:

Will continuously add some cool facts here in the future.

Did you know that changing of username on forum is allowed if your a donator/vip member but theymos allowed others with their valid reasons to request a change name. I know two of them.
Due to respect, I think you should delete display names of these two users (both their past and current display names). Moreover, only reputable, and valuable users will get acceptance from theymos. There is very rare cases without reputation here received acceptance from admin.

If one is a scammer and send display name change request to admin, he will never accept it.

Op gives only 2 users that ha changed name but actually they are six members that have successfully changed their usernames display.
Look at this thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5215892.0) they are revealing those members and I think changing name is worthless because even how hide happens you will still traceable. The most I afraid someone will be using their old username to scam people.

I hope theymos have another event on this since it is two years of existence after introduced the merit system. Just like giving few free merits to all. Lol.

Not being a scammer isn't even enough to get that request accepted, I think it's based on a "valid" reason to request for a name change, and it's theymos who decides on the "validity" of the reasons the user will give, but from my perspective it must be based on security reasons, probably when signing up the users didn't care about it then, but now, having an established account on the forum they would not love to share the same username with all their online/sicial media accounts. Theymos would be more likely to grant that request based on that than just for the fun of a name change.
I know some here knows these already but I assume some or few high rank doesn't.
The idea and the thread is good, but the facts you've posted about are not hard for users who are active on the forum and also read to know on, I believe things that have to do with "did you know" should really be something many didn't know about.

I respect you man, and I hope that your intention in creating this topic is to help beginners, but everything is bad.
The information is not accurate, the idea is difficult to put forward, there is no organization and other things.
In short, you have to rethink this topic to make it easier for beginners to understand.

We are here to learn and the things we do not know many, and it is difficult to limit them to a single topic. :-X :-X :-X

No worry mate, I understand. Indeed I am planning to incorporate details which I am yet to know or such event. This isn't a tutorial for such topic cause forum is very broad. I'm planning to collate some that even for me is new. If I intended to showcase more, I think the post by @tranthidung is more of a beginner showcase. But your right, I understand the point. Thank you man.

You can also add that, "Plagiarism results in a permanent ban, no excuses".

I've yet to see another (crypto) forum that implements such policy.

Thanks for this, actually I didn't know that artist badge was given to these users since I missed art-related thread once the contest was completed.

Better avoid signature campaign in the forum facts which might motivate people to use forum towards financial gains rather than a discussion place. :)

Maybe the structure can be improved like using a list and horizontal rules or something like that:

  • xxx

  • xxx

  • xxx

But I like the idea or at least it isn't a bad one.  ;)

I've also something to add:

Hi 1miau thanks for the feedback. I already read it yesterday on our Local group, about leet and planning to add it. Rest assured, I will organized this to be more presentable. Quite hard to do posting on forum with only phone. Never used laptop since I made this account to do all codes for an organized post. So pardon me.
