Gee what were they voting on if it was already official? I guess you tards demanding that it was already official before today were wrong. That is unless you still want to argue this vote they had today was totally meaningless and arbitrary.

I mean it was official, it just hadn't been sent to the Senate yet. To be honest I had no idea that they had to vote to send them over to the Senate, was pretty sure that the only reason they hadn't been sent yet was because of Pelosi.

But then again, that's government for you. Bureaucracy and a ton of rules is a hell of a thing.

Transmission to The Senate is a constitutional requirement for impeachment is it not? It was not legally completed until it was transmitted to The Senate. Take 2 seconds to think about this. Why would they hold yet ANOTHER vote on it if it was not a technical legal requirement for this process to move forward? Either this vote along with transmission to The Senate was a prerequisite for the legal process to make it official, or this vote was completely arbitrary. You might negotiate and write up a giant contract, but until you sign it, under the law it is just a piece of paper. The same applies here. It is not done until it is done. Now it is done. Now the real fun begins, and the hunters become the hunted :D

@TECSHARE and that’s how you waste tax payers money first build a trial very well knowing that it has no merits and it’ll not remove Trump from the office, and then follow the rules to show Americans how much they love following the rules. Though we all know how this will end with Republicans crushing them in the senate, but I’m excited to see the drama unfold during the trials and post the trials.

The real waste of money was the unending baseless Russiagate investigations as well as the prolonged impeachment show process in The House. The problem is not the rules, if the rules were actually followed none of this would have happened. Now The Senate has control of the process and they are about to carpet bomb the Democrat party with a plethora of damning evidence and witnesses just in time for the 2020 election ;)

She wanted to feel powerful that's why she held on to the impeachment articles and she knew very well that there was certainly no way that the whole thing was going to go through in the senate with the Republican majority. There is too much division in both houses to the extent that both parties are going to vote specifically according to party lines.

Please point out the provision in the constitution that says this. Don't just say, "One guy said it does in an opinion piece once."

It is not a requirement. The constitution gives the house the sole authority to impeach and the senate the sole authority to hold an impeachment trial. The transmission of articles has to do with house and senate rules that can be changed on a simple majority vote of the respective bodies to change their rules.

Some were calling for the rules of the senate to be changed to allow for a trial without “transmission” of the articles via a simple majority vote.

Some legal scholars disagree with the above but I don’t think the argument holds water.

A president is generally called impeached when the house of Representatives votes to. Some people argue whether they need to wait for the senate trial.
But the real trial is going to happen in the elections. And the people (actually the electoral college) would decide on him.

So pretty much this was already set in stone at this point, but because of the Senate/House rules it had to be voted on. Which could be changed by a simple majority and things could move on.

It is in fact a requirement. Until the articles are submitted to The Senate, the prerequisite requirements of the process are not met. As you linked above, The Constitution gives all authority to conduct impeachment trials to the senate. Transmitting those articles to The Senate is part of those prerequisites as it is the official, legal, and technical end to The House part of the process.

There is no constitutional requirement to "transmit" impeachment to the senate.

The text of House Resolution 755 (https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-resolution/755/text), is, in part:
Both article I and article II was voted on (https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-resolution/755/actions?KWICView=false) by the House on December 18, last year. The resolution clearly says that Trump is impeached, not that the House will impeach him in a month.

Some have said Pelosi held impeachment articles in an effort to hurt Sanders' presidential campaign efforts. During the trial, Sanders will need to spend 6 days per week at the trial, during a time he needs to be campaigning in early primary states.   

You aren't making a retort at this point, simply repeating your premise. The Senate can not move forward until the impeachment is transmitted. Since The House's job is not complete, and The Senate has the constitutional right to try the impeachment, until it is transmitted, it its not legally a complete process. The vote to transmit the articles proves as much.

Now that they have done their own part to the best of their abilities. Thank goodness the writers of the constitution did not leave the fate of the President in the of just one calibre of people. Now the ball is in the Senate to decide whether those allegations would hold true or they would't. Although my opinion does not matter, it still does not mean it cannot be given. Eventually this will turn into another academic exercise and add Donald Trump into another man in history who despite the challenges, comes out on top
