What is the best exchange and how do I make a buy order there?

I suggest you visit "Beginners & Help" (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=39.0) first.
Making order is simple. Go to exchange find your pair (for example BTC/USDT, ETH/BTC, ...) and look at the current orders. Just make your shot and create your buy/sell order with price you want.

But about exchanges. Everyone has their own favorite exchange(s). I like Binance, Coinbase and Kucoin. But others Bitfinex, Huobi or Bithumb. There are more than 1000 exchanges on the market. So it is so hard to pick one best.

What is the best exchange?
There are many exchanges in the world but the best/top exchanges recommended to use are:
1. Binance (number 1 bitcoin exchange)
2. BitMex
3. Bittrex
4. KuCoin
5. Kraken
6. Coinbase
7. Poloniex

You can see the detail information here: https://coinsutra.com/best-bitcoin-exchanges/

Actually, you are no need to ask, you can googling and find it out yourself, buddy.  :)

-snip- how do I make a buy order there?
If you have already verified your account in exchange and you have deposited some money (USD), then you can place "a buy order" there.

Some of this stuff is more complicated than just Googling it, you idiot.

we need more information.

what country are you located in? are you looking to deposit fiat money, or are you just looking for a place to trade? exchanges are very jurisdiction-specific and many do not support fiat/banking, although they may support stablecoins.

if you're in the USA: binance.us is probably the cheapest option commission-wise (0.1%) among fiat exchanges. for non-fiat exchanges, kucoin is probably your best bet at 0.1% since binance.com doesn't allow USA customers.

if you're in europe: kraken has the most liquid BTC-EUR market and is very competitive fee-wise. for altcoin/stablecoin trading i would recommend binance.com since they have the best liquidity and 0.1% trading fees. there are slightly cheaper exchanges (like poloniex, whose fees start at 0.09%) but binance has better liquidity and reputation.

Ok, just a question first, are you done purchasing your bitcoin and you want to trade now?

Watch your manners. You have lots of questions and there are people who help you so be nice to others.

What's wrong with you? I was trying to give advice but you replied with that shit-word. Are you aware of your manner?
I think I don't share bad exchange choices, those are the most trusted exchanges in the world. So what is your reason to state "idiot" to me?  ???

Thanks buddy to remind him. I'm really surprised by the behavior of OP above!.

Chill guys.
@OP provide information where you are residing so that we can give an idea what's the best exchange that you can do. Otherwise, you can try those suggested exchanges that were suggested to you.

You can buy bitcoin from localbitcoin as well using your fiat.

Sorry, although I'm intrigued by bitcoin and its potential, I'm frustrated because I'm having trouble understanding some of the stuff around it.

are you planning only to buy bitcoin?
If that was your only reasons then find a local exchange available in your country .this will make it easier for you to understand then after you learn how to buy it you next to learn is how to buy other altcoin . Googling is make it is easier for you to understand but always start with the basics.

Have you tried reading what other users have already said?

In one sentence - there is nothing called "best" exchange. They are several exchanges and you to try a few of them to know which one is suitable enough for your use. Depending on which exchange you use the order placing procedure may be described in their Help documents but often it is very conspicuous even for a newbie.

You could also visit youtube to give you a "visual" impression of how the process is done but be careful with those videos because they are often promote shitcoins and low volume exchanges there because they are paid to promote them.

You have to chill and relax as you are reading the suggestions of other members here. It's fairly normal for someone who is new to bitcoin to become confused at the start and we understand that but you don't have to use unnecessary words. Now, in which part you are troubling in understanding so that we can emphasize and explain it to you concisely.

Take it easy, some people here have tried to give an answer to you that I think it is obvious if you have an eagerness to go to an exchange that have been suggested. Unless, if you are lazy you can go some youtube channel and just put the keyword how to deposit to binance (as an example) then you will get a bunch of channel.
