Although the number of posts, number of merits are not first things to be considered in the ChipMixer campaign, but I think earned merits somehow help us to have a raw overview on contributions of users.

I agree, merits are not the first thing Darkstar_ considers.
I am for some time trying to understand his decisions regarding the selection of participants lol

I believe he tries to keep the campaign participants covering all different boards in the forum, so there is a chipmixer signature everywhere.

So there are participants from different locals, some who prefer techinical discussions, other prefer meta & statistics, others on gambling, trading and so on....

Yes, the number of posts and the number of merits are not the main points of the evaluation for the criteria that Darkstar will accept. There are still many other aspects that are assessed, all decisions are in the hands of Darkstar and cannot be contested and influenced by other parties.

Covering all the boards that might be judged also for darkstar. But each bitcointalk member has a different scope of posts and may not necessarily cover all, maybe only a few can cover it all. I also only cover a few boards such as local boards, Meta, Bitcoin and others.

All decisions are with Dakrstar and There is something very annoying for darkstar:
Note: If the campaign is full, but you are a very trusted member of the community, feel free to apply. I recommend PMing me to get a faster response. Please explicitly state that you are applying for an exception. Simply being DT1 is not enough. If it is not immediately obvious why you are very trusted, please explain.
Note2: Due to the enormous amount of applications even when there is only one open slot, changing your signature to apply is not required.
Note3: If you are not applying for a trusted exception, do not PM me your application. It's annoying, it doesn't increase your chances of getting accepted, and I'll just ignore you/tell you to apply on the thread.

Yes, Only very rears are covering/posting all the board. So, DarkStar_ may try to accept one who is active more in xx board+2nd one who is active in yy board+............. in this formula.[ just my personal opinion] But I think above all reputation/trust score will work first in his mind. So the more is trusted to the community the more chance to get accepted in the chip mixer campaign.

Wow, that's a heck of a lot of work you did there!

Turns out I'm the biggest merit earner in some pretty questionable important sections:

Politics & Society
ANNs( Alts)
Off-topic
Archival (tied for 1st)

 8)

I don't even remember what I got merits for in Off-Topic. It must mostly be for combatting notbatman in the Flat Earth thread.

I Agree. This is one of the most interesting statics I have ever seen here.

I think Off-topic and deleted posts were merged? Probably you got some merits from deleted posts.

But each bitcointalk member has a different scope of posts and may not necessarily cover all, maybe only a few can cover it all.
lol nobody can cover it all.
This is why it is not a one-man campaign.  The idea is to work as a team.

Great job tranthidung. This will probably help out Darkstar_.
We can see now clearly where are users are spendning their time in the forum, and where they are making relevant contributions.
Congrats.

I doubly agree, and I sure as hell wouldn't have thought to compile all of this data even if my pea brain was able to.

And wow, I didn't realize there were that many applicants--but I'm not shocked, since Chipmixer rules.  That's got to be a massively tough decision DarkStar_ has to make, and I wouldn't want to be in his shoes right now.  I don't remember Chipmixer having this many members interested in it last time some slots opened up, but then again I don't always follow the campaign thread.

Props, OP.

I have some insider information about the likely outcome here so I will not be applying and can say that I see many high up on this list I am confident will not be chosen..

Merit is definitely not everything in this contest and likely not even one of the foremost considerations possibly aside from where it was earned..

Why is this such a big deal? Seem to see a lot of buzz around the chipmixer campaign. Am I missing something?

Because Chipmixer offers highest rate on all signature campaign in the forum.

@OP, I already withdraw my application due to Darkstar statement about Yobit participants. Please kindly remove me out on the list.  :)

Probably it's not the thing most would like to hear, but I find, especially in this topic, the merit quite overrated. At first I thought it helps you .. but you are also not in top 4 so I don't know  :D
So I hope you'll get this as constructive criticism, not only criticism  :)

I think that for example the number of posts should have taken a more important spot itself, since the advertiser will want to see its banner on many places - new and old.
I don't deny that there are many valuable applications, but going only by merits (and maybe started topics) you seem to be missing something important.

This whole topic is now more about merits than ChipMixer applications however  :) Quite a lot of work, I won't deny it, but one and only one direction...
For ChipMixer I'd have been expecting also sorting by number of posts, statistics on posts and subforums, ... things like this. It's still time for that, however  :D

Wow, this statistics is something every campaign manager should do. I think tranthidung can start his own service analyzing participants or just be a campaign manager it self. I'm impressed. Good work man, happy to have you around. Good luck with your application as well :)

Just noticed that OP registerd his account one day after me :)

I liked this topic because he is showing where the users earned their merits.

Some of those users got 99% of their merits in some local board. Others got  on 2-3 different boards.
I think his stats are useful for dark star to find who posts where he wants.

Lots of number lol. I'm not going to lie, I think it's neat to look at but there are far more telling metrics to look at if you really want to consider how to improve your resume, or guess who might be selected. These are much more in the control of the applicants , than receiving merit.

Number of posts/topics created, could play a part as you want to be a somewhat regular poster who will provide visibility. However even a single topic that receives continuous repetitive views of the OP is huge IMO. Especially if it's already been made, it's like a free bonus for accepting that member. This is a toughy to shoot for, but if you feel a topic is missing from somewhere and can provide continuous value to the forum create it.

This has been mentioned, but I don't think people really pay attention to it. The main one people can work on is look around the forum for a lack of CM signatures in threads on particular boards. If you are gearing yourself as an applicant for when spots open up, and are a quality poster this is where you will want to be active. CM is already pretty much everywhere, but there are large concentrations and overlap of members in certain boards. From an advertising standpoint this isn't beneficial to add members who will only add to the concentration.

Do you see yourself as a middling sort of candidate? Do you fluently speak another language for which there is a local board? This is where you should be looking to make large contributions. For one if you are useful to that section I've seen it pay massive dividends in earned merit, and secondly there likely won't be a lot of current CM posters there. CM, like Bitcoin is not bound by boarders and they benefit from expanding to all corners of the globe, so advertising in non-English sections is a huge bonus. Hell I've seen some candidates from the campaign who really dropped the ball here, both for themselves and their community; not to mention CM. They could have easily created and translated content that would have been a net positive for all involved, but didn't realize the opportunity they had.

Just my thoughts after reading through this a few times

That's correct. Good point.
My main point was to also try different other ways of sorting the users too. It could reveal much more interesting aspects.

Edit: for example to see the merits/stats of the top 30 posters

This is a great work Thran.
One thing that should be really helpful to understand who those posters are is: which thread gave them more merits?
This is something I usually do when "meeting" someone new, and I recall asking DdmrDdmr to implement this feature in his tool.

In my case, using DdmrDdmr tool, the output would be:

Sorry, I am away from main main laptop and I cannot produce anything more elaborated right now.

Great data, great statistics. It seems that you have made a great effort. Thank you for that.

It is important to show the signature campaign to more users. It is also necessary to spread it to different countries. I think it important to advertise in Turkey. There are a huge trading volume in Turkey. There are many bitcoin investors. There are also users who want to remain anonymous due to strict monetary policies.

That's why I think Chipmixer should be found in Turkey.

I don't have any inside, but i have interesting theory, about how Darkstar chooses participants. It's not even so interesting, more about ordinary logic and SMM. So let's see if i'm right.

The problem of my theory is that opened up to 4 slots. That means, even if my theory with one slot would be really strong, with 4 slots there chance of randomness and it can't be verified in fact  :(

There are your merited-posts in Off-topic board, over 3 topics.
Code:
     +-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
     |   topic                                                                       topictitle   emerit   t_emerit   p_emerit |
     |-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
  1. | 1009045                                                                       Flat Earth       32         60       53.3 |
  2. | 5161097                                Black people less evolved? Brain like the monkey?       22         60       36.7 |
  3. | 5035030   $10,000 dollar reward being offered + Flat earth and how it relates to Bitcoin        6         60         10 |
     +-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

Exactely, that would be very interesting, you might add a link at the end of the row (albeit not clickable a in code window) so anyone interested can quiclky find the relevant topic and check herself.

I don't know if its just because I'm a bit slow and missed this info in the thread or if you pulled this from elsewhere but pretty curious on where I'm at for P&S. I'd think that I'm pretty high up there for just P&S, that's mostly where I chill in.
