Title: Are there any avatar campaigns? I'll do a list :) {Locked for now} PM me if any.
Post by: TheBeardedBaby on February 06, 2020, 10:44:25 PM
I've seen a lot of people looking for to rent out their avatars, personal texts and websites.
I never seen a campaign like that so i would like to ask if anyone knows such campaign(s) let me know and I'll start listing them here :)

Thanks to BTCappu we have an example of what I wanted to do. Seems like the OP from the link is not online for more than 700 days now so it's time to take over.

People already tried to list them like this : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1087042.0

Seems like there are no active, or more precisely, publicly active avatar campaigns, that is why I think it is best to lock this thread with an option to open it later, when/if something new comes up.
In the mean time, if you have information about any available avatar campaigns, please shoot me a PM.
Thanks to the ones who posted good info here :)

I've rented out my website field (in my profile) for a month to a campaign once. It must have been about 2 years ago, it could have been just before the crypto-peak. I can't quickly find back the link though, and it's late already :P

Is this still an active campaign? If it's not, no need to bother. The fact that there was one its enough for me. Most of the  signature campaigns require a to wear an avatar and personal text as well, so i guess there won't be many with just avatars. Let's see.

Btw, Foxpup's mocking (CH) avatar camping is it a public one or just specific individuals are allowed to enter?

as far as I know, there are no active ones.
I remember a few altcoins avatar campaigns but a long time ago. Also, I am rented my website place, probably for the same user like LoyceV  Buying profile Website link and title (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3236862.0.)

Not sure how to classify LoyceV avatar rent (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5121375.0), maybe you can try something like that. But you must know, they have a very weird condition, alcohol is okay, wife swap is okay, plastic bottles is not okay, drugs is...

Hahahahaha, now that was a great laugh right before bed-time! :D :D :D

Regarding OP: I am also not aware of any "official" avatar campaigns - I definitely know there is a legendary cycling club (very elite!  8) and not available for the general public  ;D) and some other companies renting avatar space such as my favorite bookie sportsbet. Blocknance also seems to pay people for wearing their avatar. ;)

Does anyone know why so many campaigns ignore Avatars? Or more precisely why many campaigns prefer signatures more than Avatar, I think it is a better way to ads using Avatar more than signatures.
It prints in the memory, and links can be added below (personal text.)

I remember that people (not campaigns) bought some Avatars like @irfan_pak10 or campaigns that pay extra money for it.

The thing is that Avatars as well as personal messages below cannot be clicked. A link posted as personal message for example still wont generate nearly as much as possible as a link that is actually clickable.

But due to lack of such campaigns, those lists are not getting support and life.

It's not active, and I was only in it for one month. I've always been curious though if that's an efficient advertising method. I've seen spammers who created around 30,000 accounts just to advertise a link in the profile, so I'm quite curious if advertising a link in the profile of an active user pays off.

Thanks for the link, that's the one indeed.

Not sure how to classify LoyceV avatar rent (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5121375.0)
That thread is just a Service I'm offering. It's not a campaign, although many people seem to think it's the place to apply for joining the prestigious Foxpup's Merit Cycling Club.

Text-based advertisement is much more friendly to global recognition score, especially when it comes from high domain authority like Bitcointalk. Avatar is more dedicated to forum users, the personal text also.

I never ask user CryptoStats about results of his website link and title campaign, where I participate, LoyceV also and I think few more users.  I wish I know is it helped.

I like that thead for the lateral thinking humor style.
Hope that the subsequent little derailment of thre thread don't hassle you too much!

Rgarding OP, I do have my own "Avatar for rent (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5207683.msg53281816#msg53281816)" thread that has been enourmously successful in being totally ignored.
I cannot blame anyone for this , but myself.

Exactly this. Yes it is possible to add a link to a personal text just below the avatar, but companies prefer to monitor the results of their marketing and if it's not a clickable link, there is no way to know which visitors were attracted to your website from bitcointalk, except of course running a survey which does not give accurate results.

Also the ease of just clicking on a hyperlink and being directed immediately to a website would attract more users than if they had to copy the link and open it in a new tab. Considering that most signature campaigns maximize their investments by requesting users to use both the signature and avatar and sometimes also the personal text, and there are members willing to do it reduces the chance of avatar only bounties being popular.

I fully agree with that, but there is another factor that plays a role here.
That's why some people tend to use the website link in their profiles which has an clickable icon right under their avatar. Well it's not that obvious of course like a direct link on the picture or text but it is still useful.

iasenko, as you probably saw, a certain number of users have avatars who fall into the paid avatar campaign category, but the invitations for them are private. This is probably a good decision to avoid unnecessary spam and the campaign owner selects users according to their policies and needs.

For those who are wondering what campaigns are in question, it is about sportsbet (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1935179.0) which is targeting users who are active in Gambling and blocknance (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1935179.msg53772885#msg53772885) for which I cannot say what the criterion is, but it is mostly carried by the participants of ChipMixer.

I wouldn't say that campaigns ignore avatar, no, almost all of them use it.
Signature campaigns alone work well but with avatar (with similar content) they synergize and boost overall performance of campaign. It's psychological factor too, only posts mean nothing if user's appearance (sig/avatar in combination) isn't attractive.
Personally I found avatars beneficial, just for gaining attention.
Also if you see, most campaigns are only accepting members with sr and higher ranks cause lower ranks are so limited, signatures that suit them aren't attractive and don't gain much attention.
