Is there any paricular reason why the guess must be the closest without being over it?
I mean, why being a bit over it matters if you are indeed the closest guess?
Is it just to make it more fashion or trendy? I guess, so. But I could be missing something.

Seems very cool!

The company itself is legit, but they had some questionable business practices early on. When they were first starting to sell ASICs, there were backorders of over a year, and they didn't allow refunds. Many people saw this as more or less a scam, because being there first is extremely important with ASICs (you could make back double the cost of the ASIC in a day with any luck, but only for the first few days that ASICs were out. The site said orders could take "a month or more" (which hardly implies "12 to 24 months").

As far as I know they've caught up now, but a lot of people spent thousands of dollars on miners that ended up making them a miniscule fraction of that.

Them's the rules. We are going for a broad audience here. Ones used to "The Price is Right" type shows, where not going over is the norm.

No you didn't. Unless you watched last week (4/3/14 was the first show). But I also do not have Skype or a webcam. I made my mining guesses and watched the first show last week faithfully, but then was at a loss because I could not connect through Skype. This was not communicated beforehand (that one would need Skype to be able to participate in the show). So, needless to say, I was pretty bummed out.

@cysive - is this something that could be worked out/changed? If not, then I at least suggest letting people know beforehand that they will not be able to participate in your show without Skype. But congrats on pulling off your first 2 (Live) BTC gameshows successfully, that's something to be stoked on.

P.S.- the "hashtag mashtag" tweets you picked on the first show (4/3/14) Suckkkkked. You picked 2 of the exact same shit joke- about taco bell having real meat, April Fools lolololol.... And then some dumbass taco bell vagina joke that was weak as hell.

Can someone explain what the basic idea of the show is, what contestants do, when it will be airing, etc etc?

Tried out for it last night, but didn't get picked or typing my answers need to be much faster!   ;D

Every Thursday at 8PM Pacific Time, think you need to be in the chatroom starting around 7:30PM PST.

You have to like them on Facebook, Twitter, and have your webcam on Skype or Google video\voice handy just in case they pick you. ;D

There's side games like Twitter hashtag mashtag, side games within the chat answering questions, and if you make it on the show like 4 or 5 different games, mostly all trivia related.

If you win any of the games, they reach out to you I think, then give you a wallet address so you can claim your BTC prize.

BFL is in hot water right now because they didn't deliver pre-order items for insanely long periods of time, they have been accused of using asics to mine their own coin while others were still waiting to receive their orders, and there was something about the owner/s supposedly using some of the pre-order money to buy a house (it was supposed to be used to develop the cards.) Not sure how much has been proven yet, but there's a lot of shit in the woodpile.

At least they are willing to share.  :)
Maybe it's a sign the company wants to make big improvements and stick around for the future.

I find the state of VOIP saddening. It *should* be as easy as using e-mail. However, all the major companies involved want to lock you into their platform: which means interoperability suffers.

I tried installing Skype under GNU/Linux. It is not cross-platform like Microsoft claims. It requires Moonlight, the Free version of Silverlight. It is all but unsupported; and never supported DRM. Skype was also not as vulnerable to government wiretapping before Microsoft bought it.

Google talk supports XMPP, but is being replaced by the proprietary Google Hangouts. Edit: http://www.google.com/talk redirects to http://www.google.com/hangouts/

FaceBook uses XMPP to facilitate Instant messaging between their users. However, their server is configured not to communicate with other XMPP servers like Google talk.

I was impressed by Ekiga.net (https://ekiga.net): up until I tried to actually tried to use it. (They store passwords in plain-text and don't sanitize database inputs: It broke such that I could not reset or use my password)

Have you tried getting a Google Voice Number? If you can get a U.S. number, we can call that.

Also if you have a smartphone, have you tried Skype on it? I have found it works well on my Android phone.

Remember we call you, and you don't have to get the phone call on the same system you are watching on. But it does have to be either Skype or a U.S. number.

But I understand completely if you don't have a smartphone.

Another idea is to watch in a group and share technology. One of your friends may have Skype or a U.S. Google voice number.

We want to reach everyone, unfortunately we are just as constrained by available technology.
