Title: Warning: fake Microsoft channel on YouTube (with 568k subscribers)
Post by: hugeblack on March 28, 2020, 03:33:22 PM
What happened::  I was browsing YouTube and was surprised by this scam channel, with with 568k subscribers and about 43,000 people watching that live stream.
They advertises a 500 BTC, unbelievable, they are scammers, do not be fooled by the numbers of subscribers, most likely it is a hacked channel.

Upon typing it has 18K watching on the live video, just report the video (spam/misleading > scam/fraud) and even the channel (about > report user > spam and scam).

I reported it, and when I clicked 'report' after filling everything out, the modal just froze.  I don't think it's submitting.

I think is a hacked youtube account.

If you search the link youtube on google, we have the result on some youtube analytic performance with the name "Canal JAG". Doing a few research, i found the twitter @CanalJAG the channel focus into a gamer's content.

You guys can try search at google with keyword "Canal JAG Youtube", and the result at the top will be fake "Microsoft US".

This is very bad, I thought that the followers of this channel were fake or some bots were used to confirm the credibility.
The strange thing is that their Twitter page does not contain many followers? Isn't it strange that you have more than 500,000 followers on YouTube and have less than 1,000 on Twitter? with zero activity  ???

The sad thing is that this channel is still showing, it's been more than 24 hours since I reported it.

Pretty mindblowing youtube is just letting these obvious scams stick around for so long.  I guess the scammers figured out a way around the secret algorithm and it just takes forever for an actual human to go over a report.

The same thing, did this upon replying my first reply here, but still, youtube doesn't do anything about this channel, and it's still in 29k are watching. I just thought if these are all fake and bot only views since there are some blackhat services do such this.

More channels broadcasting the scam. I wonder how youtube are not swift when curbing such scam channels that abuse their platform and yet they are so quick to delete political based or pornography related channels

They made 100k in just 24 hours, I think they're linked to the same scam spam on twitter where they impersonate a celebrity to trick people into sending bitcoins, they also buy/hack twitter accounts with a verified tag then they just change the name & pay to promote the scam, and I'm worried THAT people are still falling for type scams.

Damn, scammers are using Bill Gates images on that channel. Reported the channel as well, I don't know what it will take too long for Google to take this fake Microsoft channel, they should have a dedicated person or groups to review them ASAP.

Could be the channel not really care about their social media since he spoke using a local language not everyone really understands about the language.

-snip-
Its a new method hacked, youtube/google cannot immediately to do banned. They need to handle case by case, can be someone's youtube account got hacked and the hacker using them for a scam. If youtube immediately banned the account went the original owner still trying to take back the account the most disadvantaged is the owner of the original YouTube account.

Even google can't really take back the old email from the hacker, one of youtube Indonesia who got hacked on their channel youtube describe & explain about the hacked. The lucky things they have personal contact someone who works at Google, they said google just can backup the youtube to the new email they can't take back the old email need 3 days working to process this.
