Title: Coinmarketcap or Coingecko?
Post by: preikaler on April 16, 2020, 08:55:02 PM
For example, I heard lot that P2PB2B is one of the bullshit exchanges because it has fake volume, but why on coinmarketcap (http://Https://coinmarketcap.com/rankings/exchanges/) can in the top 3?
Whereas on Coingecko (https://www.coingecko.com/en/exchanges?page=2) P2PB2B is ranked 114, Does coingecko know if it's bullshit exchange? so it's not in the top 3 like in coin marketcap

So which one do you trust more?

I do not believe both.
in fact, the CMC site is a trusted site and displays coin data accurately. and not much different from the CoinGecko site also displays coins, prices, and exchanges correctly. but over time everything turns to bullshit.

I don't really know the reason behind it, maybe there are no rules about it. but basically this is MONEY.
anyone who dares to pay is high, so he wins.

Coinmarketcap is the leading site for crypto details but with regards to exchange details, I can say that you are right the shit exchange that are faking their volume were able to rank higher so it will be good if they can fix it. There is a big chance that there will be a better update to come especially that coinmarketcap has been sold already to Binance and I would like to see whether the incoming update will be fair enough to all the users.

I am not a coingecko user so I cannot comment more about them, right now I can say that I will favor coinmarketcap as I've been using it for several years already in gathering some useful information about the crypto currencies.

For me, I like the ease of navigation on the CMC site more than that of coingecko. But that is where it all stops. I don't trust any of the sites more than I trust what I find on the blockfolio app. These sites are never completely accurate and real life more than the individual exchanges that house these tokens and coins. We're just laying hands on the sites just to have a rough idea of what the real prices are on the exchanges.

Do you know the proofs that P2PB2B really has fake volume? I suggest to not believe rumor till you get the proofs.

They must have different assessments. If you want to know the reasons in detail, you are better to contact their team members. I think what you are doing now will get nothing since we are here just guessing.

I visit Coingecko more than CMC, I can say I have more satisfying feature on the site than the other. Early in the year Coingecko proposes a better system that sort exchanges base on low visits and high volume trade; wash trading and fake volume. Coingeck has more exchanges featured on the site, it also provide more factor of comparison of exchanges than the other.

I prefer coingecko.

One of the reasons for it is how easy it is to switch between currencies in which the charts and all coin values are shown.
I live in the EU so I deal a lot with EUR prices and need to follow these, but I also want to switch to USD views with one click.

The sites are really similar so there's not that many differences between them to make us not use one or the other.

I make use of these two sites, but i do not depend on them totally, because I have little trust in them.
They can actually provide very useful information, most especially the info that will help me in searching further for more answers to whatever I need.
Although at first, when I got into the crypto space, CMC was always my favourite, after some discoveries, coupled with recent happenings which people have been complaining of, the trust I had in them start diminishing and as for Coingecko, they are just like brother and sister.

Both are for the same purpose which is to help bring together crypto exchanges and projects but yet they aren't doing the job well. Everyone knows that exchange (P2PB2B) is not a good one but yet on coinmarketcap it is ranked top 3 which shows that they are not only faking volume but coinmarketcap is helping them to succeed when they shouldn't. Coingecko sometimes is good, it helps upcoming projects a lot and in the case of this particular exchange shows that coinmarketcap is wrong, however it needs more improvements to stand up to coinmarketcap.
The one I trust more; actually I have the same level of trust for them.

Assessment is I do prefer coinmarketcap and regarding P2PB2B exchange I can't comment if they really are that fraud but just avoid it if you think they are besides there are hundreds of exchanges out there to rely on. Was the rumor true that CMC been acquired by Binance? What will be the effect really if they are the one to run it, will it be different from before?

It looks like that there was no even a small change after the acquisition that already happened to the CMC by binance, i personally prefer to use coingecko rather than coinmarketcap consider the data that already showed by coingecko is much more accurate compared to the CMC. Honestly, a metric calculation that already used by CMC is a big crap formula

Because the two are different, they must have different systems and ways to determine the ranking. Then, what do you expect? you better ask directly if you want a really detailed review through the contact provided.

and wait, you use this link in the thread, it is not an official page, http://https//coinmarketcap.com/rankings/exchanges/
this one should be, https://coinmarketcap.com/rankings/exchanges/

..I heard lot that P2PB2B is one of the bullshit exchanges because it has fake volume..
I also have heard the same, many new tokens listed there are heading to shitcoins, with great volume at the beginning, pump and dump price. But then, it is going end to be shitcoin. But well, probably not all coins there.

but why on coinmarketcap can in the top 3
Basically, CoinMarketCap is the most leading and the biggest tracker for cryptocurrencies and exchanges that are mostly visited. So far, we often use this site to know the progress and as the reference by traders and investors. However, fake volume has become the general issues so far. It is one of the weakness of CMC that still list the shit exchanges to the top.

However now, CMC has been acquired by Binance. Hopefully, they will be more professional, better in listing, and also decreasing the fake volumes and exchanges or coins.

So far, even though CMC still has weakness, I more often use CMC than CoinGecko.

We all started with Coinmarketcap well most of us here, but I like Coingecko because they index the majority of the coins in the market I always find new coins listed in Coingecko more than Coinmarketcap, but I always use these two for price comparison, although I know that they have different parameters when ranking coins in the market.

Coingecko has additional features and I personally prefer to open the Coingecko for checking the daily volume of any altcoin. CMC has lost the reputation after the fake volume scandal on crypto exchanges and they agreed about this. Indexing of Coingecko is better compared to alternatives, the marketcap of fake volume for some coins is bigger on abnormal exchanges.

well for now coingecko has a consistent platform which means it has begun to show a good reputation increase while coinmarketcap is still like some time ago there was no development at all even some time ago gave a trol about toilet paper which in my opinion is not very interesting.

instead of only fake volume on some coins but coinmarket has also recorded fake volume on a market, that's also what I don't like coinmarketcap, while Coingecko I think the details about coins are more complete and there are also many coins, I often use Coingecko to check data project

I take coin listing site just for the reference of price, to see where the coin are listed to and to get the links to the official website, thread and channels. Exchanges volume means nothing as most of them are indulged in fake trading. They team up with fake tokens and let them generate transactions that would make the volume of both the token and exchange to rise.

Lesser of two evil? I would say that coingecko listing is good as compare to coinmarketcap. But if they are pulling the same API data from exchanges, so why there are big variance? I guess coingecko has it's own algorithm to rank exchanges that's why P2PB2B is way below, as compare to coinmarketcap.

But we all know that coinmarketcap has been absorb by Binance already, so it will be interesting how this whole exchange ranking will be specially when Binance takes over.

That means a lot for the newcomers. if you are expert enough in the crypto and this will not be a big problem since you can identify the exchange site that listed crap coin easily. You should take a look at so many ico teams were also getting scammed caused by some of them are new developers that tried their chance in the crypto.

I don't really care much about the coins getting displayed but I use both of them. Though they both aren't accurate, they still have their own uniqueness. For example, I use coinmarketcap and coingecko to browse to top 100 coins and they are pretty much almost the same although I use coingecko when I want to browse and new and calculate it's value depending on my currency. That's one feature that coingecko have that coinmarketcap doesn't.

Coingecko is far better than coinmarketcap. Coingecko has a lot of filters option to get some good information while coinmarketcap do not have them. By the way, CMC has been partnered with Binance and now we can expect some goof works from CMC too. P2pb2b is a shit exchange and they do not deserve to be no 3.
Just to inform you, there are a lot of threads on this comparison. Search before you create a new.

Depends on how you rate them. For me, I never care for the rating but I am using both when checking some coins or tokens of my interest. But for the sake of comparison, I would go for coinmarketcap becauae I like the features and the UI of its design. I have the mobile app and it seems perfect for tracker of your coins and tokens. When regards to volume, I dont mind cause I am using different referencs for that one more accurate and only using during I am doing trading.

coinmarketcap has less features than coingecko. Coingecko also measures the volume with different angles to provide the best output to its users. They try to be as accurate as possible with checking the liquidity of a certain market.

Coinmarketcap is the most popular and most famous cryptocurrency price tracker but they don't weed off  fake volume reporters like Vindax, P2p2p and their likes. This is misleading as it has led some inexperience developers on wrong choice when choosing where to conduct IEO ad get listed.

I will recommend you to use both as they both have pros and cons which you will be able to recognise when you start using them. Firstly I do not have a clue about this exchange as I do not use new exchange. I always prefer reputated and trusted exchange. In terms of coins related details, coinmarketcap is leading the crypto market. But when it comes to exchange, coinmarketcap have a lot to upgrade whereas coingecko have better exchange speculations. They have the features like sorting out fake volume and low visit websites. Recently coinpaprika have doing great job. You can check it out as a alternate. I always use all three sites simultaneously to check coin details or exchange details. You will have better idea if check on every possible site at once.

But until any of these people are more transparent, until they tell us exactly which data is estimated and which is given to them, and until the public is allowed to mark and rate ratings and themselves can prove the numbers are right or wrong,,, I would never trust any number, Coingecko or CMC or anyone else.

I have never used P2PB2B and I can not verify what so many people say about its fake volume. But I  follow the reviews because for some reason what they say is true. About CoinmarketCap, I also follow it as a reference in the prices of the coins.  While CoinGecko is the direct competition of CoinmarketCap Both sites are doing their best.

I definitely wish we could have agreed Blockchain standards for ranking these projects and not just rank things as anyone wishes. So I wouldn't judge the P2PB2B yet until we have agreed standards or rules to judge them with.
Besides, there are some projects at the top I don't believe deserve to be there. They are not really decentralized or safe in my opinion.
Projects that deserve to be at the top should probably be anti-fragile/well-decentralized/very safe, useful, easy-to-use, etc

Why is it so important for you what place the coin occupies. In my opinion, the main thing is for a coin to carry out any fonctions, to carry value. Then she will be the top on all lists. When I personally buy coins, I never look at her place. Because you can buy a place, as you yourself see. Everything is sold and bought. But if the project is really worthy, then it will still gain recognition.

Choosing between depends from how you understand the functionalities of each services, though most of the time there's seems to be manipulated
results from CMC but if you already knows how to sort things out and brings out the things or informations that you've needed there's no problem
working on it and use it to base your next decision making.

Yes, you are right, they are not bothering about the people because many exchanges are using the bots in order to generate the volumes. Legally generated volumes are going down their ranking in CMC, that's why people should be very careful with both these CMC and Coingecko, a company which can eliminate bots will be preferred by the community members.

I'm using coinmarketcap just for the sake of reference and to check certain coins price. Well most of this data driven site (Meaning where the data is carry over from other's database/website) can be use as references but not fully depending on it
Look at multiple perspectives

We wouldn't really know if one site's data are purely transparent or rigged unless you can deeply explore into the exchange and monitor all of the data

However since not everyone is that tech savvy, its fine to use multiple sites as references to cross comparison or etc
Although i only uses CMC as i don't really see the volume because from most of the trading history in most exchanges, you can actually see that its manipulated

I uses Coinmarketcap mainly to see what's the recent hot coins
Trading volume can be fake, but price can be real if the volume did bulk up
Therefore, trading is not that easy because people need to identify if trading volume/trading pattern is false or true

P2PB2B is a bullshit and fake volume exchange. It deceived the coinmarketcap API and that's why it was in the top 3 coinmarketcap. I regularly use coinmarketcap because it has more features and I can see more projects. But I don't believe in the volume that coinmarketcap is listing

Yes, and everyone has different things to use both, some use only to monitor the price of coins and some use both to see the volume of exchange along with the prices of tokens that are in Coinmarketcap and Coingecko.

Maybe this is one of the very reason why Binance overtook CMC because of their continuous supporting websites that obviously manipulating trades and faking volume this is rampant in many BS exchanges I dont believe that CMC is not aware of this they are just ignoring to filter this kind of problems better to shift to Coingecko.

What they do is that some  exchanges filter out fake volume which is very obvious on some of these exchanges. I was told most of these exchanges do wash trade. I think what CMC has done is to stat providing liquidity depth which I think is a good thing to do because most of these Asian exchanges are scams

I use both simultaneously, but I never tried to use both of them as a refference for me to trade or to invest. When I am trading I will use the trading chart to paint my strategy and I use some media for fundamental analyst such as cointelegraph and CCN coin. Also I use them for my investment strategy, find the website of the coin first before I spend money for investing.

Same here and I see most posters here have the same thought. CMC but only for reference cause, CMC's exchange volume is dogshit unless coming from reputation exchange like Binance.
In the case of using Coinmarketcap and Coingecko sites, it is true that almost the average person uses it to see the prices of tokens and coins, the rest only looks at the comparison of the volume exchanges of the two sites, and I think that's a very reasonable thing, because both sites provide services that same.

Just like you, I only use them to track prices and see if the exchanges are listing the altcoins I'm interested in. I never use coinmarketcap or coingecko to track volumes because it is inaccurate, and I also know which exchanges are good and which ones are bullshit.

We got used to using CMC already, so even if there's a new one, still we will be using CMC as we don't actually look for a more detailed information, we just look at the CMC to see the current price and we go to the other site or this forum to check the reason on the price movement.

Yes, but in looking at the price of coins in coinmarketcap we also have to consider which exchange is the most volume of coins we see, because people who are experienced and already know a good exchange will certainly trust the volume that is there even though the exchange is not is in the top rank in coinmarketcap.

Many users simply trust those numbers that they see on the coinmarketcap and do not go to other sites. This is a problem. many exchanges manipulate the course and provide not real volumes and we see all this lie on the coinmarketcap. Everyone who uses this site must need to learn how to verify the information.

coinmarketcap least this time can still provide an update on any new cryptocurrency and can be used as a trading volume of information even though his movement may be subject to manipulation, but I believe only a few percent because the important thing is how we as traders can address it properly.

I'm using coinmarketcap just for the sake of reference and to check certain coins price. If those coins are listed on shit exchanges then it's not the coinmarketcap fault because said site is just collecting the data on one place, I don't know why people seems to hate CMC as it's just for reference.
That's I'm also what I'm looking at I maintain Coinmarketcap and just added Coingecko, coinmarketcap do not added new coins in the market with volumes like Idena my favorite coin right now but Coingecko added new coins even if the coins are new and do not have large volume.

Yes, in terms of the site, coinmarketcap is very feasible to be used by everyone, because all the things that are needed by users are there, although there are some exchanges that are not suitable to be used also listed there (coinmarketcap) and are often ranked at the top due to the volume false.

CMC was also independent since it was started, after it has become a very popular marketcap site and the creator of CMC has already started to get money from there by selling some promotion into the CMC's site. This was badly affecting the independentcy that already owned by CMC itself as a neutral site.

Well, to be honest i usually check coinmarketcap whenever i need to check any tokens, prices or other things but i think these platforms do not really have much control over individual exchanges because they will display whatever volume data is transferred to these platforms via APis that are just a linking tool.

Agree with you, obviously coinmarketcap will help people get more information about altcoins. But sometimes coinmarketcap has also been tricked by the exchange's trading bots, which have faked the volume and caused the coinmarketcap to misrepresent these bullshit exchanges.

I visit coingecko for coins that are not listed on coinmarketcap and they provide lesser info that what coinmarketcap provides. Both of them are improving and coingecko is trying hard to be more advanced than cmc but with the binance acquisition, we can expect further improvement in cmc.

To me both are the same, and therefore I don't trust any of them because both are always found wanting in one angle or the other. Where one reports the correct thing about exchanges the other reports fake ratings, thus, does it mean the other reporting the correct thing is better? The answer is No. I mostly use them to get the exchange a project is listed on and nothing more, that is to say whatever information they display is always questionable and therefore they need to improve.

Either Coinmarketcap or coingecko ; you need to remember that both are guides to price of tokens and their volume on exchange platforms.

Coinmarketcap or coingecko should not be your final stop: always check the listed exchange platform for further verifications as regard the volume, the price and the buy orders.

About p2pb2b exchanges; i personally do not disregard any exchange platform because as shit as any exchange may be; if you see a token trading well you have no choice than to use it.

Just remember not to leave your assets on exchange platform

Agree both are excellent in crypto data aggregating however we will base on dates from these both has started we can easily conclude that coinmarketcap is more popular because it started earlier than the Coingecko although the time gap is not that long but I'm pretty sure that it mattered. Binance already acquired the coinmarketcap, maybe because of the popularity and they not even include coingecko in the bid. I'm voting for coinmarketcap, I'm not against coingecko but if you ask every one in here what they are using from these most them will say it's coinmarketcap with no hesitation.

Coingecko has their own way of ranking than coinmarketcap does. Coinmarketcap ranks based on what's happening. For instance a token is pumped by 1000% and volume increases, its automatically ranked in coinmarketcap but Coingecko will take other measure to determine if this is really the value of the coin or its just a pump. Their algorithm differs so to say.

Frankly speaking, I prefer using Coinaprika or Coingecko instead of Coinmarketcap. Coinmarketcap might have achieved a big name in this industry but they are not offering the best of services to this industry. They just list tokens without doing any research. Moreover, on Coingecko, one can calculate the value of a token he is holding.

Yes, you are right. You can't trust the figures on both if you are seriously looking for a coin. But you can use them both for reference. And if you want to look in depth for the background of a specific coin, you can just go to their website and related links. So at least you know what's the deal for that coin. Both sites are only giving you the market overview of the coin, but you can't tell if those are real numbers. Now, that CMC is owned by BNB, I don't know what kind of change they will implement on this site.

I've used coinmarketcap more and the experience is a bit bad. This is because confusion is created due to fake volume data at coinmarketcap. Many bad exchanges are on their top list. As a result, Newbie faces a variety of problems with getting bad information. I also visited Coingecko. Their system seemed good to me. They have total traffic data and real volume data.

I prefer using Coingecko, coinmarketcap on the other hand is known for not giving accurate data and are known for being in support with exchange with fake volumes. They are only good at the UI.
Coingecko has a price calculator than could be used to calculate USD versus the coin amount. Coinmarketcap never reasoned to add this feature as little as it is and that's one of the most reason I stick with Coingecko most times.

The pros of Coingecko are more than the cons of Coinmarketcap, hope the Binance team will rethink about the future features of CMC. The $400mln is paid for buying the CMC by Binance, this is a sign of the high interest. Binance is a ticking bomb...

It's better to save our opinion when it comes to coinmarketcap as of the moment since they were recently acquired by Binance, I know a lot of people will have negative views towards this including me since Binance is literally monopolizing the crypto industry not just particular markets in it. But what does it mean for Coinmarketcap? It only means that a billion dollar company is now backing them and with the really big amount in order to acquire them which is around 400 million dollars I think it only means that Binance has really big plans for CMC. So we really need to scrape of some things like the date manipulation, discrepancies, and other scandals that has plagued CMC. Just think of it as CMC being a new crypto tracking website which has a potential to have more accurate pricing for cryptocurrency and up to date list for all coins in the industry.

For now, I prefer coingecko over coinmarketcap, indeed coinmarketcap basically has a fairly comprehensive list than coingecko but I often get if the data or information provided by coinmarketcap is not too accurate and different from what we see in the actual market, including some scams market  that listed in their list, so in my opinion making coinmarketcap as a recommendation is not a good step at this time.
But after binance acquires coinmarketcap hopefully coinmarketcap will be more accurate and neutral in providing any information / data available.

I guess both uses different kind of criteria to rank the exchanges, that is why you can see that each exchange is at different rank on different site.
The best thing to do is not to trust any sites blindly. Do your own analysis on the exchange before using them. Just have an excellent rank does not mean that they are the best. Use the forum if needed. Check for peoples review over here. Look for reviews from users with good reputation on the site. There are lot of users that will shill for an shit exchange.

Both are good, but Coinmarketcap seems to be more trusted by investors because the site is easy to use and has an interface suitable for everyone.

In addition, last week, the number one exchange Binance in this market bought Coinmarketcap so it is certain that the number of traffic will increase in the near future. Both are good, but Coinmarketcap seems to be more trusted by investors because the site is easy to use and has an interface suitable for everyone.

In addition, last week, the number one exchange Binance in this market bought Coinmarketcap so it is certain that the number of traffic will increase in the near future. Of course, you have the right to choose according to your preferences but Coinmarketcap often provides more accurate information.
People more familiar with CMC and this is the main reason why CMC gained the biggest traffic compared with another sites. After binance has announced that and there is no update regarding the crap exchange sites or coins that must be removed from CMC.

In my opinion, Coingecko is bether than Coinmarketcap. Coingecko has more features and tools that is very useful and also display data more accurately.

I can attest to that. Because there's this time when coinmarketcap price for bitcoin isn't really moving and I guess the others too.
It took for about 10-20 mins and I keep on refreshing but it never changed. But there's no news about that incident and that's why I'm starting to like coingecko but hoping that the same situation won't happen to them.

Coinmarketcap was previously independent and operating without paying no respect to any exchange but since the acquisition by Binance I don't think I can rely on them for accurate information anymore although before the acquisition their stats report became questionable. If I'm forced to choose between the two, I'll prefer getting my stats report from coingecko most especially as they're still independent.

Coinmarketcap is more popular and has more traffic among the cryptocurrency community with very friendly interface and quite easy to understand so I guess that's why they're the preferred choice by most cryptocurrency enthusiasts.

I am not a coingecko user so I cannot comment more about them, right now I can say that I will favor coinmarketcap as I've been using it for several years already in gathering some useful information about the crypto currencies.
pretty much it, yeah
I haven't use coingecko much, but I don't see the reason I should be honestly
this whole time I was using cmc and it was totally fine 99% of the time

Coingecko beats CMC all the way up and there is no need to open the second tab for CMC if the Coingecko tab is open. There is no major difference between both but actually I like more the design of Coingecko.

Yeah, Coingecko's design and features are both of higher quality than Coinmarketcap it’s my honest opinion. A lot of features you will get on the Coingecko, they still trying hard for more implement, But i don’t think it’s overtake coinmarketcap because still most of people’s using CMC. So CMC generating huge number of traffics.

I am cryptorelated person. I use both coinmarketcap and coingecko. But I do not trust 100% of them. When I need about price and where exchanges a coin then I switch first coinmarketcap, secondly I switch coingecko. Also when a coin listed on coinmarketcap, investors more trust it.

Although it is the pioneer and the most popular service of this sector, Coinmarketcap, unfortunately, I am careful not to use this service. I am afraid to use this service for reasons such as constantly manipulating prices, misrepresentation of many exchange services' transaction volumes, and any data it provides is not reliable. Coingecko is a more reliable source for me. Yes, perhaps this service may not share accurate data, but I have not seen that it has manipulated the market so far, or that they have been using a ridiculous procedure to provide information about some cryptocurrencies.

I think these two platforms have been very helpful, but for Coinmarketcap indeed not all tokens or coins can be listed easily there,
unlike Coingecko that I see there are many tokens that are not in Coinmarketcap have listed in Coingecko. I know P2pb2b is a bad exchange, but if P2pb2b in the top 3 exchanges according to coinmarketcap seems to be due to their large trading volume

I personally prefer coinmarketcap but I don't think either of them are bad to use, each platform has its own pros and cons. These though will vary depending on what type of info you're looking to get like the info required by a newbie will be drastically different from that required by a day-to-day trader. In any case, for some more comprehensive comparison between the two see this article: https://forklog.media/coinmarketcap-vs-coingecko-choosing-tools-to-analyze-crypto-markets/

Coinmarket is basing things according to the data that they are gathering so if they've seen that volume they will add that in their list, but since Binance owner already part of this site building back the reputations might be expected to this site. Both are helping traders and investors the sites have the data and it's up to traders or investors on how to take advantage and how to use everything to be profitable to them.

In as much as both CMC and Coingecko has their cons, I do think the pros of coinmarketcap are better off comparatively. You can check liquidity of exchanges and coins/tokens on CMC and also CMC has more strict criteria to list exchanges & coins, unlike coingecko which is extremely easy to list. Fake volumes has been a problem for both CMC and coingecko, and much effort should be put by their developers to easily checkmate exchanges with fake volumes.

What you heard about P2PB2B is true, the exchange is not encouraging in anyway both in trading, IEO and so on, therefore for coinmarketcap to report that P2PB2B is a good exchange or even to be ranked top 3 is a clear indication that coinmarketcap is not truthful. On the other hand, although coingecko reported the accurate thing it didn't make them more truthful than coinmarketcap, all have their shortcomings. So coming down to the main question, I don't trust any of them and this issue of reporting fake volume on exchanges is getting out of hand.

An interesting feature of CMC is the historical snapshot with rankings of the top assets in the past.
CoinGecko has its Compare section to compare coins.
CoinGecko also has certain information that isn’t represented on CMC, namely the development and social media activity stats, news, and links to educational materials.
Unlike CMC, CoinGecko doesn’t have a separate section for liquidity ranking. The metric is shown for each platform individually:
Both services have their pros and cons.

CoinMarketCap has a minimalistic interface but a narrower set of functions. CoinGecko offers more metrics and sections but lacks a subsection with crypto-lending interest rates and something similar to CMC’s Historical Snapshot page.

Still, both services are worth considering and may be used simultaneously for maximum use to investors.

Another one came for the Crypto Analysis Platform (https://tokenncoin.com) It overcome the Both Coingecko and CMC cons, It has the features of Coin compare, Latest crypto news and all.

Tokenncoin is a one-stop market research platform that ranks and analyzes all the blockchain-based coins and tokens in the crypto market.

Tokenncoin is a platform that ranks and analyzes all the blockchain-based coins and tokens in the crypto market. We cover all the necessary information about the thousands of digital currencies that exist and are new in the market. Tokenncoin caters to all the research demands of investors, traders, and crypto holders.

they only help to register coins, and they also have a condition. Well, that might not be useful for you, but I think it's very useful for many people. however, many people look for information about exchangers there. although the data is not accurate, but we can have our own research on this.
if it's not useful for him, I'm confused where he will see information about tokens, or coins that he will sell, or buy. Well, even for websites that manage coin and exchangers, these two sites are the best places, although there is still a lot of manipulation.

Some of us does not understand how these sites will judge if the coin is scam or not, not because the coin has a lot of complain or they have a bad reputation, they will not allow it to be listed in CMC, it's a big market, and they investors just need to ensure they choose the right coin based on their research as this is already out of the criteria of the CMC, your coin is listed in an exchange, they will list it, that's it.

Well I will be frank to find out the pros and cons of certain exchange or token is definitely our job but a listing site like CMC could not just list some fake or manipulated exchange without any further observation because if they do it's clearly their fault for spreading false information if the coin listed there have some kind of "fake or manipulated" data.

I so much trust the information given by both platforms, however, I began to notice some disparity, fake volume on CMC.  For example, recently I was trying to check for the price of GoalTime N (GTX) token, on CMC it was $0.4, but when I checked it on coingecko, it was $0.00095. It was that of the latter that corresponds to the price on the exchange.  Why these disparities??.

True, the acquisition of Binance makes trust in coin marketcap even greater. Coinmarketcap is the first reference for crypto enthusiasts to monitor market conditions, we see whether the binance team can provide a solution to the crisis of confidence on a similar website.

Please visit the latest CZ tweets, you can write your aspirations for innovation at CMC, https://twitter.com/cz_binance/status/1252942392329515009

I like both, coingecko and coinmarketcap. Both have their respective advantages. I like coingecko because there is a calculator to calculate the price range directly there.

Coingecko doesn't have the stupid rules for listing the new altcoins and the volume requirement is a big NO for the new projects. There is an alternative called Coingecko and project teams will prefer to get listed on the Coingecko without paying CMC.

CMC has been sued several times,AFAIK. The scammers use their advertising pages for promoting their scam projects and the wash traded altcoins is the good source for attracting the thirsty traders.

have fake volumes.

To be honest I don't trust both of these sites, either coinmarketcap or coingecko sometimes display inaccurate data. Therefore, I trust
the results of the analysis and research that I do myself. And make coinmarketcap or coingecko as a comparison only. Regarding P2PB2B
according to the results of my own analysis and research, coingecko results are more accurate. Because it's true that P2PB2B exchanges
have fake volumes.
I think the data there is easy to manipulate. but to avoid that, you can check the site directly. however, both websites are very useful to help us find information about coins that are related to the market. well, almost every day I look for information about a coin in coinmarketcap.

are you related to that site ? or just want to share it because your using it for a long time already  . well still thanks for sharing , i checked it and the site was neat  . by there i can see that coins seem to have a correct ranking so i can say that this is a good alternative to cmc and coingecko    .  i do both use coingecko and cmc before while i never experience major issues with them but i see many people complains about cmc   .  well you people should stop using it if thats bothering you besides there are many alternatives out there if we do a search

I don't know which one of the two can be trusted I mean given the fact that these two are both giving out crypto details but both of them have their own flaws I which I think we give more emphasis on. CMC is leading ahead of Coingecko but it does not necessarily mean that CMC is more trustworthy and other way around. It still on us to decide on our own which or what to do, they are just a reference.

I was also introduce to cmc when I was new in crypto but actually until now I am still using cmc although i am pretty much aware of CoinGecko.
Now, that CMC is own by Binance, maybe we can expect some improvement, they are already the number 1 without improving the information that people need, I mean the site is very basic, very limited important compared to CoinGecko  but it's majority are still using it.

i guess depending on your needs.

Over the years coinmarketcap is doing better survice than any other platform. We rely on coinmarketcap updates but recently we see many fake volueme, fake ranks that is really not acceptable. Coingecko is also good platform for crypto update daily.

In my opinion, coinmarketcap was once popular and many people made it a reference for investing in exchanges. But lately, coinmarketcap doesn't really care anymore they only rely on profits for exchanges that want to be displayed on coinmarketcap. therefore it is difficult to distinguish between right and wrong.

Now days also you can see those coin in Coinmarketcap which are not even launch in any exchange. They just list a coin with some fees i guess. Which is not a professional. I think it's not a good idea to research a coin with their provided details. Just do your research with couple of trusted exchange you'll be good.

No problem saying it has more accurate Data but how you can conclude it? Got information from a valid source?
In my view, it is hard to say which one has more accurate data because they will claim having better data.
And about the rate or reputation, sometimes it can be subjective among the reviewers.

Bad thing is that binance cz purchased coinmarketcap, and it will be more only for promoting binance exchange.
I think coinmarketcap will try their best to keep its reputation. We don't worry about the neutrality and subjectivity in general. Though for Binance, it is undoubted to get a special service.  ;D

Shit coins can get listed for free if they have a good volume. Exchange can be blame for displaying fake volumes, tracking websites can be also blame for not putting measures to prevent the display of fake volume of a exchange.

Coingecko is really better, they have a tool to verify the volume of exchange and works very well, they check all the data to avoid fake volume and information, this is the reason that Coingecko is the best.

I agree and I have it installed on my phone to check the price from time to time I trust Coingecko more than Coinmarketcap now, they are up t date and some of the coins are listed there even if they are new coins in the market like Idena, they even had a coin or token listed even though there is no market yet like https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/the-geoma-dao#markets

The COingecko app is really great too, I found the link so people can check why I think that coingecko have more accurate info about cryptocurrency and markets: https://blog.coingecko.com/trust-score-2/

We must admit that CMC has long been the basis for many people to determine the movement of tokens, but I agree with your opinion that Gecko is better. structuring and ease in giving a full report about the movement of tokens feels better. Price calculation shows there are differences where CMC is higher than Gecko.
Moreover, CMC has a lot of bad news because it often provides reports that benefit several tokens.

Coinmarketcap is one of the biggest industry scam enablers, they allowed so many scams to advertise on their platform while in some cases they knew it but chose to ignore. I personally called them out a few times before and they always chose to ignore.

Binance bought them recently which makes things even worse now as Coinmarketcap will be controlled and managed by Binance and please dont believe the bullshit claims of complete seperation between the companies as its not possible and wont happen.

But i prefer cmc more not only because i am using it from start but ut is definitely bigger and more reputed platform with largest userbase.
Well, bigger doesn't mean they are reliable it's just most of people are more used to this platform rather than the other meanwhile their data is probably linked to the same source. In my opinon both are the same anyway it doesn't matter which one to use but don't expect them to not do something with the data.

Actually I don't want Coinmarketcap to delist the coins. They are not an exchange, and therefore they don't have the moral right to remove a coin from their listing. If the coin or token is no longer traded in any of the exchanges, then they can flag it saying that it is either dormant or dead. But removing the entry is wrong. If we want some unbiased information about these coins, where we'll go?

This is a site that summarizes the prices of various cryptocurrencies and exchanges that appeared the earliest and have a huge number of daily visitors to the site. And which cryptocurrencies listed on CMC will increase the credibility of its customers. I seldom use the Coingecko website so I can't evaluate which one is better. that is why dominant people use coinmarketcap compared to Coingecko. it's just that, I also sometimes use it because I think the volume is quite real. it can be seen when vindax and p2pb2b manipulate their volumes. in coin marketcap, they are in the top position, whereas in coingecko, the volume is not as much as in coinmarketcap.

Their algorithm differs so to say.

could it be possible that CMC is not doing the right thing and Coingecko is doing the right. to me CMC is worth trusted to the other.

CMC seems more reputable and respectable than Coingecko. There are occasionally glitches on CoinMarketCap but ultimately, it provides much more detailed information and tokenomics for tokens/coins than other competitors out there. It is one of the reasons why most projects prefer a CMC listing than other price monitoring and tracking platforms. As often evident, a CMC listing is usually accompanied by a price action of the listed asset. This can't be said of other platform listings for same assets. With the acquisition of CMC by Binance, it is most certainly going to solidify its grip on the number one position.

And it was already proven and tested too to the majority of the community in bitcoin or crypto industry. So, it is a good guidelines of the token are legit or not in crypto.

I use both coinmarketcap and coingecko. But I always prefer to use coinmarketcap. There are many loopholes in both. The problem is not exactly their. Exchanges and coins use to pump teir volume mainly the small and medium exchanges. And site like coinmarketcap give you the information through api. They don't have fault. Their is a lots of coins and exchanges nso it's hard to take care of all. But I would suggest you when you do your research check both. And even more. Don't trust single resources. That's it.

I will go for coinmarketcap for sure,  it's got more good navigation and interface to use,  although both has some coins and exchanges with fake volume,  I believe that with CZ Binance acquiring coinmarketcap there will be a great improvement,  gone are those days when listing on coinmarketcap will create a pump for the specific coin that wanna listed on it, if you are looking for coins are not too popular,  perhaps new coins with low volume,  coingecko is where to go
Coingecko doesn't have the stupid rules for listing the new altcoins and the volume requirement is a big NO for the new projects.

You're correct, coingecko is so much easier requirement for listing, but in the different side coinmarketcap asked a lot of things those are difficulties for a new project. CMC making money by advertisement crap projects cmc users know that. If CZ collaborated in CMC, coming days will change many things first of all transparency.

I think a lot of people have seen the price on Coinmarketcap more because they have enough data to cover tokens / coins even though there is a lot of fake data there but still CMC is a priority of several big projects compared to Coingecko.

Especially now that CMC has been acquired by Binance and the possibility of fake data in the future will be corrected.

in fact all of our habits are looking for the best information and often use it. because both are pretty good presentations. I used CMC from the beginning to find information and analyze before doing something. but with the development I see CoinGecko is quite good too and I end up using it, because I see there are differences in the way of presentation that is not in CMC and CoinGecko is closer than the price value and accuracy of the presentation of the value of each token. this is my perception that maybe people will differ in their judgment and are only natural.

Which i will bring and idea for the owners of this website (CoinGecko) to recheck and put things right. The both get bullshit in overtime and you end up getting wrong information about a coin or an Exchanger.

I am a Coingecko and Coinmarketcap user for a long time, this is common. which I believe is the trading volume in both. whichever is strong I will definitely sell my coins. I am more inclined to coin marketcap because of the crypto information that I can come from there.

I use both to get information about the new tokens or coins to list. For precise information such as rankings and others, I think Coingecko is guaranteed. However, since I am used to opening coin market caps, I use CMC more often to only see the daily increase in each coin.
At least it's as accurate as Coingecko.

Both Coinmarketcap or Coingecko are good for source information about which one coin have value and where the market listing, just usually I use coinmarketcap to know where is my coin assets listed and how much price,  I can see different price between one exchange market with other exchange.

P2pb2b maybe has fake volume ? i think we cannot assume it is 100% accurate.
In coinmarketcap, there are adjusted volume and reported volume, you should try it and see if p2pb2b exchange still on the top or not.

Both of them are useful maybe its just that two of them are having trouble on acquiring data from differenr exchange and mixed up with their records. I personally used cmc but we cant deny that its data volume is worse. If your a trader I suggest dont rely on these tracker cause your trades would be mess up. But if you rely on arbitrage trading these are helpful and can let you learn which to use this method better. Coingecko on the otherhand is not that greate with these cause their listed exchange are not reputable sometime on other tokens.

I saw coincapmarket from long time to analyze any coin details.but know coingecko has come and traders has double choice to know about their trading coin. Some new coin has been added to coingecko to see and trade them but exchange are really low quality. Trader can get some data on both marketcap that what I can do. On other hand coincapmarket has long listing with better chart and social media analysis.
In end I prefer everybody to go anywhere who satisfied your invention about any project.

That has always been the case. A website like that need to make money for living and at one point they become greedy and want to get the profit as much as they can, the increasing views also requires larger resource to handle thus the reason why they want to play dirty like that. It's the same as those exchange that demands money for a coin to be listed, there's always some way to make additional money in this kind of business regardless whether it's dirty or not.

Whereas on Coingecko (https://www.coingecko.com/en/exchanges?page=2) P2PB2B is ranked 114, Does coingecko know if it's bullshit exchange? so it's not in the top 3 like in coin marketcap

So which one do you trust more?
Will always be Coinmarketcapitalization mate because this is what i think most of

and even more better now as the CMC is just bought by Binance in which we knew how popular and legit.
i'm sure all the past bad reputation of CMC will be gone as the best exchange is now controlling this one best price site.

Neither platform seems to care too much about cryptocurrency exchanges faking their trading volume to get to the top of the rankings.

And they also don't seem to care about altcoins that have been pumped to the high heavens to appear on the market cap ranks.

They should only consider volume from the top 3 exchanges for these rankings, anything else is just noise.

I only use data from Messari Pro instead, since it doesn't have these flaws.

Honestly, they are not really all that different to me. Coinmarketcap is a lot older and has a lot better website, the UI and the likes are all perfect, the coding and the design is far better. Coingekko on the other hand shows the numbers a lot better, it is easy to show the price of a coin that is given and simple, the volume however is the hard part and coingekko works on that a lot more, they are trying very hard to stop with the fake volume thing and show the real one, they are probably not 100% there yet but they are definitely better than coinmarketcap.

It means both place has their shortcomings and their positives as well, whatever you pick, as long as you do not use it for something serious, you would still get the info you are looking for.

Some coins are not on coinmarketcap which you can find on coingecko and vice versa.

I observed that in Ethbits coin it’s dead coin, and delisted of a several exchanges now trading is still live on through forkdelta. Those coins are getting delisted on cex exchanges CMC mentioned untracked listing. It’s happened by cmc management before binance partnership i think. There're no trading history in thousands of coins instead of 2500+ coins, Binance should be filters in coming day's.

Maybe one of the reasons why Binance bought coinmarketcap is to advertise their upcomming ieo’s? It is known that binance charge a lot for running ieo and they earn a lot from trading during ieo. And now they could earn more because their services will be more demanded.

Both Coinmarketcap and Coingecko are reliable websites to get cryptocurrency-related information like price charts, trading volumes, as well as gains and losses. When choosing which one to use, the preference of viewers in terms of the website layout will be considered. The website layout for CMC looks more minimalistic and organized and yet Coingecko also provides comprehensive and detailed information. It is better to cross-check information from these websites and use both when DYOR.

Aside from these leading crypto information websites, PlayFuel's standing and market performance can also be tracked in Tokenncoin, a one-stop crypto market data platform. I think both are shit market cap website. Most of people use Coinmarketcap than Coingecko i guess. But both are fulfill with shit coin/exchange details. Now days also you can see those coin in Coinmarketcap which are not even launch in any exchange. They just list a coin with some fees i guess. Which is not a professional. I think it's not a good idea to research a coin with their provided details. Just do your research with couple of trusted exchange you'll be good.
Shit coins can get listed for free if they have a good volume. Exchange can be blame for displaying fake volumes, tracking websites can be also blame for not putting measures to prevent the display of fake volume of a exchange.

Of course poor exchanges and tracking websites both are responsible for that. Low quality exchanges create fake volumes with using bots and they send it to tracking website like CoinmarketCap or Coingecko and they don't hesitate to show fake volumes at all. That's why we must trade in trustworthy and reputed exchange for actual volume.

That's the problem with CMC and with Binance acquiring this site its a high time to correct this practice and be very strict placing the datas. It will be more helpful to the people who are seeking information using this sites, collecting proper info helps traders and investors to pick the place to trade.
Details which is really reliable and not just a paid data should be prioritized by binance after taking over.

for now, it looks like the quality for the coin marketcap is better because it's controlled by CZ. it's just that, so far, both of them are indeed useful, although many people say that it's manipulation and so on. however, listings on both sites can be used as a reference, and it is quite easy to find information about prices and markets of these sites. it's just that I use Coinmarketcap more often than Coingecko.

Most users use coin market cap since it is more convenient and more user-friendly compared to coingecko. In regards to exchange ranking, I guess they base it on market volume regardless whether it is fake or not, this list doesn't matter since most crypto users are aware which has legitimate and fake volume.

Most users use coin market cap since it is more convenient and more user-friendly compared to coingecko. In regards to exchange ranking, I guess they base it on market volume regardless whether it is fake or not, this list doesn't matter since most crypto users are aware which has legitimate and fake volume.
Agree, now everyone has a lot of experience in this market. So the fake volume exchange will not be too big a problem for them. And now Coinmarketcap is being controlled by Binance, so I believe it will be much better than Coingecko.

You cannot trust fully the information given by both CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko because these sites sometimes delay in updating their information. There have been several instances where CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko have provided incorrect volume and coin supply for some coins even after the team of those projects have sent the right information. It takes time for CMC and CG to update.

I think both of these websites are useful and we can use both of them to dig up information about coins or tokens in the market. But for now, I mostly use the coinmarketcap website because I am used to it and it doesn't mean that coingecko is worse than coinmarketcap

I prefer coinmarketcap over coingecko. Because coingecko sometimes shows strange info about token/coin price. For example it shows that it is traded on exchange, when you go to exchange section, there are 2 "grey" exchange that are on promotion on coingecko and they do not trade an altcoin I was searching for.

Also there a build in calculator where you write the amount of altcoins you have and it is converted to USD. Ok, I enter the amount of tokens I have, it shows how much I have this tokens in USD, but this altcoins is not traded anywhere. How can it be? How can you calculate a price if it is not traded anywhere???

However, there is some fake volume which is very steam.Who ignores all this?Have to work.

I haven't used coingecko too often so far, because I was very pleased with the updated information that coinmarketcap offers. Coinmarketcap presents a real-time price update of cryptocurrencies. CMC also has a very simple interface. Both Coinmarketcap and Coingecko have advantages and disadvantages, so both can be used for more complete information.

Now we can expect things to get interesting for Coinmarketcap. Now Binance will be in charge for this

I hope they will make one of the best places for crypto-currencies.

for now, it looks like the quality for the coin marketcap is better because it's controlled by CZ. it's just that, so far, both of them are indeed useful, although many people say that it's manipulation and so on. however, listings on both sites can be used as a reference, and it is quite easy to find information about prices and markets of these sites. it's just that I use Coinmarketcap more often than Coingecko.

CZ only took control of it very recently, and he has asked people on Twitter poll for some suggestions or recommendations,,, and none have yet been implemented so that will take time. Let us give credit to CMC it had a load of data and for years it was the only reliable one. Coingecko and others I hope improve but can we stop making enemies for a service none of us actually need?

I take coin listing site just for the reference of price, to see where the coin are listed to and to get the links to the official website, thread and channels. Exchanges volume means nothing as most of them are indulged in fake trading. They team up with fake tokens and let them generate transactions that would make the volume of both the token and exchange to rise.
You are right. I totally agree with you on this. I also use these sites to see where a coin is listed, to see its value, to get a website link. From here one can get an idea about the complete crypto market. But in this case I always use Coinmarketcap.

That's what makes Coinmarketcap in a bad light putting an exchange in good standing, Coingecko has indexed a lot of coins that are not on Coinmarketcap, some of the coins that are not listed in Coinmarketcap are on Coingecko, but I still trust both market graph because they show, data that can help me decide.

Coinmarketcap is good to get the information about the coins, not exchanges which we know the top exchanges in cmc are not that good.
I prefer to using coinmarketcap site to find out about crypto coins listed there, but i will using other site than coinmarketcap to find out the crypto exchanges. anyway, using only 1 site to be our guide to buying coins is not good, we should see other listing sites as well.

Best Site is CoinMarketCap is a website that provides cryptocurrency market cap rankings, charts, and more. Their website tracks capitalization of various cryptocurrencies by listing prices, available supply (amount of coins/tokens that is currently in circulation), trade volume over last 24 hours, or market capitalizations. The website has historical snapshots, currency converter calculator, crypto glossary, API service, events calendar, and offers a watchlist for users to personalize. The website also has a special cryptocurrency price ticker widget for other sites. The website is aggregating prices of cryptocurrencies and calculating price averages that are displayed to users.

Coingecko all has these features and so are those other sites, it just go down to how they ranked the projects and the exchanges and how fast they index the volume of the particular coins, at this point of time with so many coins and so many exchanges it's time to have at least three for comparisons so you can come out with a decision.

Coingecko "knows" that it is a fake volume but they can't really reach to everyone at all the times and not as active as CMC because their job is harder to figure out who is right and who is fake. So, basically cmc and coingecko is used for different stuff if you ask me.

If you simply want to check the prices of the big currencies, you do not have to check coingecko because it doesn't offer anything new. Let's say you want to check bitcoin price for the past 3 months, you can do that on CMC easily, its right there, you can do that on coingecko as well, so there is really no difference when you are doing something as mainstream as that. However if you want to do something like checking a smaller coin, or checking a fake volume, that is where coingecko puts its difference.

I prepare coinmarketcap it was reliable and you will see the actual price unlike coingecko actual price was not shown just the price you are going to think if it is the buying or the selling one and you need to review it on the exchange while coinmarket everything was there chart value and exchanges of a coin or a token.

I prefer to take the data from the exact exchange where I trade my tokens especially when it comes to price and 24hr volumes. Coinmarketcap and Coingecko give average information by adding and striking an average from the exchanges where a coin is listed. If we look at the usage, then both sites can be used by anyone except beginners who still have to learn a lot about the real exchange rates, but in general, people who already have a lot of experience in crypto, certainly know which is better. so they can also sort out themselves or compare themselves between the two.

Trusting a platform doesn't necessarily depend on just one information shared on that platform. Personally, I do not trust any platform. I try to verify any information I see from a platform with different other sources and make my judgement. Some coins listed on CoinMarketCap ain't what they seem, while some are reliable. It depends on individual choices which to go with.

CoinMarketCap has an extensive array of resources and one of the most trusted sources of cryptocurrency information in the industry due to its reliability, simplicity and recognition. Most crypto projects go to CoinMarketCap for listing due to its importance to their projects.

Depends on what you are looking for, coingecko has more coins listed, and as I noticed they have some tokens I can't find on coinmarketcap. Even thou binance bought coinmarketcap they will be remembered as shady info site, that's why I like coingecko more, for informative purposes only! Those sites should be used for this purpose only, to get some basic information about a specific coin or project, but even that information should be checked on other places too, because you can't fully trust any informative site!

There seems to be nothing complicated in the coinmarketcap interface. Both platforms are easily accessible, but I'm more used to coinmarketcap. The information provided by the two platforms is sufficient to provide the necessary support to the person accessing them. Coingeko has the advantage of having more coins registered, but I use coinmarketcap because the details provided are better structured.

These two are useless according to me, Because they just want money, they do not care if they have listed scam coins or real.

On coingecko, the dynamics of the events occurring with the coin are clearly visible, which allows you to quickly distinguish coin scam.
For example, weak coins will have problems with displaying exchange volumes, as well as have a low level of trading volumes.
Otherwise, both of these sites are just aggregators that are easy to fool.

The thing is, there's just too many manipulation done by some shady exchanges that could easily fool these kind of websites. To see whether a project is really scam or not we should look up into the project itself rather than relying on the data shoved to us from that website. In short, they are not really reliable for us to judge a project.

Normally I used to avoid Coingecko. But today when I visited (after a gap of many months), I found that they had made the site more user friendly. For me, it is easier to get the necessary data now. I am still using Coinmarketcap as my primary source, but I am using Coingecko along with that. And don't forget that Coingecko lists a larger number of coins/tokens when compared to CMC.

Personally, I still prefer to use CMC because I am familiar with the interface here, and there are many useful tools for me to analyze the potential of that coin accurately.

indeed Coingecko is not a famous like Coinmarketcap, but Coingecko is a rival of Coinmarketcap

That's right, sometimes I go to coingecko because coinmarketcap doesn't list those tokens. And most of them are bounty tokens, personally I think coingecko would be more suitable for bounty hunters because most of the tokens in this market are listed there.

Whereas on Coingecko (https://www.coingecko.com/en/exchanges?page=2) P2PB2B is ranked 114, Does coingecko know if it's bullshit exchange? so it's not in the top 3 like in coin marketcap
So which one do you trust more?
I hope its the most common answer - you gotta check both and sometimes find another 3rd service to judge as accurately as possible.
I don't have any feelings about any service, it is all about getting the right info

These website provide basic informations about cryptocurrencies such as price, total coin supply, circulating coin supply, website, news but I do not see any diffrence between both platform. Only coingecko listed more cryptocurrencies, so when the coin is listed on Coinmarketcap, it makes it little bit more worthy.

In fact, the CMC website is a reliable website and displays accurate coin data. and not much different from CoinGecko which also displays coins, prices and exchanges accurately. but over time everything turned into bullshit. While Coingecko I thought the coin details were more complete and also had lots of coins, I often used Coingecko to check out project data.

But coingecko where the only one place can check the low volume or dust holding . I found some of holding trade pair in coingecko . So it helped me to sell some of the coins  I thought never sellable. Thanks for coingecko. Also I aground some useful information about token in coin gecko compare to coinmarketcap.

Coinmarketcap and Coingecko give their ranking information based on certain market information they have with them. They are different companies with different online tools they are working with, so they have some market variations most times in their reports based on certain key indicators. I think the level of trust on them differs depending on what you want

BitMex is now completely gone from coinMarketCap, sitting comfy at spot, wait for it, 175.

This is despite the fact that Bitmex has the 2nd highest web traffic factor of all exchanges. Which according to coinMarketCap was supposed to be how exchanges would be ranked (https://twitter.com/CosmonautC/status/1269904849543598080)

Actually both of them are really good in cryptocurrency and they have both advantages sometimes there are deferent but both if them are good. Coinmarketcap you can check almost all the details of each coin and tokens in coinmarketcap. In coingecko we can check the price at the same time we can also calculate all your token price that makes you easy to know if how much money you earn if you want to sell your tokens.

Until the same update in coinmarketcap, I will follow CoinGecko website to use any exchange. But for tracking any new or old coin, I will follow the coinmarketcap website. I wouldn't choose any of them over the other or say I trust coinmarketcap more than coingecko and vice versa, because I believe both are doing the same thing, where we find one irregularities in coingecko platform we can find the correct one in another platform that is coinmarketcap; a good example is the case with P2PB2B. Also, where coinmarketcap requires due diligence is followed for most projects to get listed which might take time, coingecko makes it easy for upcoming projects to get the attention of most people. Thus my reason for sticking to both than trusting one over the other.

I usually use Coinmarketcap because this site has followed me from the beginning, and the statistics here are very accurate, so there is no problem for me. What I am most dissatisfied with is that the trading volume at some exchanges is inaccurate, and so far Coinmarketcap has not had a way to fix this, making some users here feel disappointed. But don't get me wrong, Coingeko is still reiliable in some ways. but if you ask me personally, i would recommend you to use Coinmarketcap because of it having a good reputation and i feel like CMC updates a tad bit faster than Coingecko price-wise.

Honestly, I prefer using Coinmarketcap than Coingecko because CMC has more interesting features and the interface of the website is very easy to use, so this is generally something that Coingecko cannot have. Coinmarketcap has lost a "1h" price change column, while coingecko still has it (or I just dont know how to add it). This does not allow to see current market changes and is very inconvenient. Also coinmarketcap started to be a bit laggy. When I write something into "search" bar, sometimes nothing happens. But if I refresh the page, it works. So far I have switched to coingecko, as it is a bit quicker (imho) right now.

In my opinion, coinmarketcap is better. I do always check crypto in coinmarketcap and I think other users as well.  Meaning more crypto users I guess are preferred coinmarketcap. As per coingecko, I still believe in their integrity for some instances when I make a quick search in google coingecko results are fast and always in the first few lines of the result of search. They too can provide project tokens that are not even listed in an exchange meaning that they got a volume of information of cryptocurrency more than the coinmarketcap.

CoinGecko very comfortable for me when i check exchange volume and rank because i use long time in phone so it's like very fast. However I don't believe every volume in every project because there are more fake volume project and exchange. Let's go and make a own research from your mind then it can clear through.

I never believe anything I see. Now even CMC I believe in less,,, even though it has changed to become more transparent since Binance took over them. Coingecko I believe are doing a good job but as long as we have to trust people,,, I have to believe that they are not perfect and will be prone to cheating.

yeah, i find this inconvenient to, they have 7d change and 7d graph, but do not have change on 1h, think that one of these 7d info should be removed to add something similar to 1h change, which is relevant for a volatile market like this one
another issue is from which point they are measuring 24h change, coingecko is measuring last 24h, so it is changing even when the price is stable (if the price changed yesterday) and i am not sure what is the moving average for CMC when listing 24h change

So which one do you trust more?

what actually happened is that, if any token got listed in the market without they being updated the prices or volumes may not likely be the same Eg, if you  see a coin cmc and coingecko, they have update it for the price to be the same.

CMC is trusted mostly.

Im also feeling the CMC needs more time to be opened in my browser and it looks like so many improvements that have already made by the binance team has been making the site became even heavier than before.

Coingecko is still running very smooth but honestly if coingecko is having a very bad and complicated interface and there must be a lot of improvements for coingecko in the future.
This time I'm still using both but CMC looks a bit better at this moment.

It's been a while Coinmarketcap is getting moderate however Coingecko is lightweight and quick if anyone compare these two Cryptocurrency Metrics. However, Coinmarketcap gives the clients most ideal great assistance by giving a lot of data. This procedures Coinmarketcap execute so far to drive massive amounts of engagement and growth as well.

Yes, I agree with you that every users are doing good with coinmarketcap.com due to its information ready provided and the only thing that needed is to browse them in the site.

However, when I use google search engine to browse and and search for a certain crypto it is coingecko that always shows in top of the result or is just that I was looking for a  crypto which is not listed in coinmarketcap and that coingecko has information in regards to it. This happen when I had hold some.tokens which are not yet provided into listing until now. Good thing thay coingecko has the record that includes the market price of the token during the sales period.

What do you mean by that? During sales - ICO or IEO ? or Just history of sales? Coinmarketcap has this feature also - "Historical data".
Comparing overall information and other stuff like summary - Coinmarketcap shows more information. But once again, I dont know who creates this info, but I think the project create this info by themselves when filling "listing data".

That helps people to get idea about what's going on with a token

In terms of exchange ranking, both CMC and CG may be unable to get the perfect data for ranking due to common practices of wash trading, bot trading, fake pumps many exchanges indulge in.

Binance has since acquired Coinmarketcap close to 8 months now. It's a done deal. I think since Binance took over, CMC has improved on its data analytics used for ranking exchanges. The issue of fake volume due to bot trading and wash trading can be problematic for these platforms to deal with. Everyone wants to feature among the top global exchanges.

I agree with that, there was an improvement. Binance said CMC will operate as an independent entity although acquired by them, but other exchanges does not believe that as they are the top exchange now, and since Binance owned CMC, they can manipulate the data in favor of them.

As we can see in the list of exchanges. https://coinmarketcap.com/rankings/exchanges/

Binance is still dominating, it has a volume of $5 billion now, while the 2nd was only with less than $1 billion.

I use both but I trust Coinmarketcap more than Coingecko, i check HDAC on both, the total supply on coinmarketcap is more accurate. I think the evaluation criteria at each time are different, so the displayed position is also very different, now P2PB2B is 98 on Coinmarketcap but 44 on Coingecko.

Coingecko is also quite similar to the model of the CMC data page, but adds some unique features. Their ability to filter cryptocurrencies based on their hashing algorithm is very useful for miners. Obviously each website has its own strengths that it offers to its users, and both are two websites that provide great price information in the market.

CMC is very simple, this is ideal for most of us with basic knowledge on crypto, and they are created first and the most popular now. Maybe if they were not acquired by Binance, there maybe a chance that Coingecko will surpass CMC's popularity, but now there's a lot of improvement already.

It will depend on their stability but both are being good but sometimes whenever coinmarketcap gets into an error, it's my go to place coingecko.
I think that was a day ago there's a bug that's shown by coinmarketcap and usually they get it unexpectedly. We will never know what's with the developers and maintenance behind it but they should start being serious with that matter because it's getting noticed from time to time.

Yes, I noticed it, but I think that many are attracted by the way to make money. In the Earn Crypto section there are attractive projects, for simple questions it is possible to get project tokens, I think this is a big plus. I think that coingecko should also come up with something.

The earn feature that was added on CMC was also the same as the Coinbase earn. But at lease we have two options where we can earn easily with those tokens that they're highlighting through that feature.
Maybe in the future coingecko will have it or at least do the same thing as what they're trying to improve with their website to be par with coinmarketcap. But I think, whether they add or not, they're still good.

Im much aware of Coingeckos existence but i dont have the feels on accessing or visiting it for such reason.
We  cant deny that there were lots of changes that we have seen in CMC due to new management which is Binance but i dont see for it to be a big issue for me as long
it delivers on what im trying to seek off in regards to current market situation and price and that what matter most and also with those perks like

Personally, I prefer to use CoinGeeko because of the information that we can gain there is more.

So which one do you trust more?

I trust CoinGecko more than CoinMarkerCap. CoinGecko is becoming more popular day by day. CoinGecko is faster than CoinMarkerCap. More tokens and coins are listing in CoinGecko than CMC now. MEW wallet shows token price based on CoinGecko. So i prefer CoinGecko than CMC.

Title: Coingecko delist SAFEX because is a scam

I think both are good, but i will choose Coingecko over Coinmarketcap because of the quality of the coins they list on their website, for example Coingecko delisted SAFEX from their site last month because is a scam, i think this is good and Coingecko is doing a great job protecting Crypto users from getting scammed with those ponzi scam.

there is not a big difference between the two, but i use Coingecko now, i used to always use coinmarketcap because it was like a habit and i got used to it, i don't know if it's just my computer or internet, but it is really slow comparing to Coingecko.

CoinMarkerCap or CoinGecko, this discussion is very difficult to end. Because each person has a different opinion. I used to use CMC more. But now I prefer CoinGecko more. Because CoinGecko is faster than CMC. The exact ranking of the exchange or token is available on CoinGecko. CoinGecko is also easy to use and provides accurate to-the-moment information on any token trading.

To be fair,,, Coinmarket does the same thing if you contact them with enough proof as well. So just because someone contacted CoinGecko and got it delisted does not mean it is better than CMC,,, you will actually also get the same response if you contact them with reputable information. So in this regards, no difference.
