Title: Can I 'delete' useless tokens from my wallet?
Post by: lahiruu on April 22, 2020, 11:49:32 AM
Is it possible to remove tokens from dead projects/tokens that are totally useless and worth $0 from my wallet? Do I just send them to a random address? I don't want to burden anyone else with those shitcoins  :D

Sure, you can send them to whatever address you want, but why? You'll use gas for no good reason... I have about 10 dead tokens, i really don't care. I just ignore them.

I think the better solution is to use a new (safer) address for your ETH and leave worthless ERC20 tokens in the old address. That way, you only move your coin once.

Or you can set your wallet to not displaying your worthless tokens; in other words, your tokens are still there but not displayed.

Makes sense, thanks! I just wanted to clean it up a little in the Etherscan drop down, so I don't need to search so much for tokens I care about

You will have to spend ETH to pay the commission. but if these coins disturb you then, of course, you can do it. I don’t understand why people want to do this. you can simply hide these coins in MEW and not see them.

Yes! you can by sending them to unknown addresses but as you can see, this method requires you to pay some transaction fees. this is the only method that works. But keeping them in your wallet would be a good idea cause what if their developers will continue the project 5-10 years by now? that would make the price of their dead token pump and what if their price became like the other top altcoins in the market? and you have a huge amount of it. that would make you a millionaire in no time. If you are annoyed by looking at the huge list of shit coins in your wallet, better to make a new one and preserved that old wallet maybe you can just open it once every 6 months to check.

No mate. That's not possible rather what you will have to do is create another wallet address, send tokens you wish not to see in your main wallet to the new address by so doing, you get to see only tokens you want in your main wallet. There's no option to delete or remove tokens on the blockchain aside transferring it to another wallet address.

In my wallet, there are few dead tokens but i can't delete anyway. Probably you can't delete tokens from wallet. You can only send dead tokens to other wallet but it needs gas fee which is boring for you and your time waste. You can keep them forever in your wallet.

I believe he is talking about Meta Maska or MEW or some other wallet interface.

I found a tutorial here about how to hide the tokens you don't want to see anymore.
https://github.com/MetaMask/metamask-extension/pull/4482

There is no need to spend gas sending them.

Thank you! This is great, but I should have clarified in the OP. I was looking to remove them from my wallet address when I view it on Etherscan. In hindsight, of course this isn't possible and it looks like the way to get rid of them will be to send them to a dead/unused wallet. Although the transaction fees might only add up to a few $, I think I'll avoid and save my ETH.

Thanks everyone!

If you are talking about ERC20 tokens, yes, you can delete tokens that you do not want in your wallet. But I do not understand why you want to do such a thing, although it is a terrible project, it will not make much sense to delete it. Maybe one day those tokens you delete will inflate like balloons and then you will feel regret, who knows. I do not recommend you to delete it but if you really want to do this deletion, you can delete it by sending your tokens to the address I have specified below. I would like to remind you to check the balance of the burn wallet address I gave before performing the deletion and that you will lose your possible earning opportunity in the future. Maybe the balances in this address will give you up for deletion.

Dead Token Address: https://etherscan.io/address/0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dead

Technically speaking, no, we cannot delete 'dead' coins in our wallet like it is a social media account that we no longer use unless it is ERC20 tokens, maybe? Kidding aside, as what have been said on thr earlier posts of other users you can send your coins into unknown addresses but their would be a gas money which would be some kind of a hassle. I suggest keeping them as a remembrance. You are not the only one being in such situation. I also have many dead coins, and I doubt others don't especially those who are here for years already. Most of the dead coins I have, are from bounty projects way back 2017 before the huge decline occurred. I have no choice but to keep them with quite of a hope that those coins will have a value someday, if there would be a miracle which would lift the market in general. Selling those coins would be a waste of time at this moment. You would rathet get a 'loss' than earning profit from doing so.

You can not remove those useless tokens but you can try to sell those tokens in forkdelta if there is a bidder, or you can make a new wallet if you really annoyed those useless tokens.

I guess you already have to know the answer and that's the only way to get rid of those annoying dust tokens that came from airdrops or whatsoever giveaways.
You can now lock the thread to avoid repetitive answers.

You won't be burdening someone with this method, if you send it on an active address you'll just make the user curious on why he/she have randomly received cryptocurrencies in his address of course there is a chance where your wallet address will be posted online seeking to find answers why this address have sent them free crypto, if you don't care if someone knows your address then go for it. But if you don't want that to happen the best thing to do is to create a new wallet where you will send your shitcoins in.

You can send them to oblivion send them to your enemy's address, but who knows two years from now, that shitcoin will have value, I have seen that happen on some few shitcoins get a spare address and put all your shitcoins there, but of course that would means spending gas for those shitcoins, but you can spare some for gas if you don't want to see this annoying coins.

If you don't wanna to burden anyone and just create a new address and send your coins there or try to send it to the default address, a lot of platforms have already used the default address to burn their tokens.
It's better to send them all to the default address.

Definitely, you're the owner of your wallet now, you can do whatever you like with the dead tokens.  But according to the second respondent, you may need not waste your precious gas on those useless or decorative tokens, if you're using imtoken for example, you can just disable them instead of wasting gas on them.

Of course you can send shitcoin to the address 0x00000000 without having to burden you, but it all must be done with sufficient gas costs.
And why don't you keep it for a long time because shitcoin can also be of value if one day, but it's up to you what you want to do.

Why are you wasting Gas doing those transactions. It is best to leave it in your wallet because it will not affect you at all, maybe one day those tokens will be valid.

You can move these tokens to other addresses, but I believe you will have to spend money to make transactions. If you don't want to burden others, just create a new address and send the entire shitcoin there.

Yeah you can do that but of course you have to cover the fees if ever there is, so its better not to move it and no more fees. There are coins/tokens like this and its true that we feel annoyed every time we saw that useless token, but we can’t do about it and let’s just admit that we just waste out time for that token and stay it on a wallet but if you don’t mind the fees then do it.

Just let them I have over 100 shitcoins in my main wallet and if I have some time I checked these shitcoins if they are listed in exchanges and some of these coins are listed and I dump it to get rip of it, don't lose hope on these shitcoins they might have value in the future even small values.

Trust me, you are just going to spend some dollars for nothing.
Before I had that same problem with my ethereum address which made me feel uncomfortable because I want to see instantly those with value.
I got like 50 different tokens which was earned from airdrops before.

Better not waste your ethereum for gas. Just let it be. Soon, you will just know what to ignore and what is not.  ;)

I think it's possible, but why do you have to pay ETH to be able to move these invalid tokens? I think that is not a smart act. Just leave the tokens there, I believe it will never hurt your wallet

You can only delete the token from the list on your wallet not from your eth address, if you really want to get rid of your tokens you need to send them out to unknown address

It's better to just leave them . It's wasting of double effort. You will use your eth as gas to send out worthless tokens. I always leave them in my own wallet.

I would suggest doing otherwise, you never know which one will ever go up and will worth something one day. I had a coin that stayed dormant for 3 years, three whole years and it didn't worth anything, it wasn't listed anywhere and it was basically all around totally worthless for three years, not even 1 satoshi because it wasn't even listed.

One day someone else took over the project and did some stuff and networked and so forth and that coin suddenly started to worth 40 satoshi, that was one of the greatest comebacks of any coin I have ever seen after such a fall and I sold them over a thousand dollars and even made a profit. Don't get me wrong that rarely ever happens but considering it doesn't cost you anything to keep them there, it makes no sense to get rid of them. Worst case if you want it for just the looks of it, get another wallet and put all the worthless ones there and keep your original one clean.

Some people love order more then anything and is worth to them way more then a bit of gas. Probably better would be to send all good tokens to fresh wallet and leave useless behind on wallet he still have aces to for just in case.

I have been really thinking about disposing shitty tokens off my wallet for so long, but there is nothing like delete in myether wallet, I would prefer to waste gas and send them to any random wallet than sending them to a wallet I still hold the private key in the name of separation, do you know why? I have a bounty that I got over 200k of its token but its not worth $1 I can't keep such shit in another random wallet.

So for you, it is more of psychological detachment from the bounty token and you want to forget that you wasted effort. Why not just hide it as suggested by bitmover here? You can't see that token anymore and not spending any gas fees.

For me I did not delete it Im just let them in my wallet for a time to comeback again but if not Ill change another wallet if I have to. Sometime in our wallet are full of shitcoins coming from airdrop we participated and no value even do we hold it for so long. So if we want to get more altcoins and not being useless we need to carefully to choose so that we cannot let them throw away because of no prices or not listed in exchange.

Sending the useless tokens to 0x000 ETH litter bin is my preference instead of looking at the same coins. The prices on the small exchange don't mean anything for me because the volume is not big for reaching the high prices. If we are in the bear market, waiting for the bulls to overtake the market will change many minds.

You can send them to any burning ERC20 address & foget about them.
I personally don't get so much bothered about those shit coins / airdrop i get, i won't even spend some penny as GAZ to send them to a burning address.
Just leave them man, they won't hurt your wallet lol.

I would suggest that you should not make a hasty decision like that. Just recently, people were talking about projects that were thought of to be a scam or shit and yet became what people started talking about all of a sudden, because they proved they could succeed, even amidst difficulties.
Let it be there and even if you feel like transferring it or not seeing it you just go for another or fresh wallet. You never can tell, in a few moment's, you might see it listed and trading at a good price, with good volume.

I used to have this kind of problem in the past where i joined airdrops and bounties. Too many useless tokens that i can't able to see the ones that are legit. I don't want to transfer them to other wallets because it would entail cost for me to transfer those tokens. What i do is i used Trust ethereum wallet and used the "hide" option there, problem solve. Only those tokens which are useful are seen.

Sending to any one is not good as its need gas which is no good better option just ignore them and use wallet without any problem as many others doing and creating new wallet is also good but still best option ignore them and use your other coins without any issue on this wallet.

Where does it say $0? On the wallet? Have you tried to look for pairs? In the mew wallet, even coins with $0 value have value elsewhere. Not all the exchanges are there.
You should never delete a wallet file or burn tokens. Just keep them. It costs you nothing to keep them but could cost a lot if you lose them. The chances they will be worth anything are slim but still there.

You cannot delete them from your wallet, if you don't want them to be there then you can send them to the wallet randomly or you can create a new wallet address
Sending to any one is not good as its need gas which is no good better option just ignore them and use wallet without any problem as many others doing and creating new wallet is also good but still best option ignore them and use your other coins without any issue on this wallet.
I think that way too, if throwing coins to someone else will definitely require a lot of money, maybe most people have lots of worthless coins in their wallets but if indeed they have a lot of money the steps could have been done, but my advice is better to make new wallet

There are some options of hiding this tokens in some wallets like Imtoken, trust which I am familiar with. On imtoken, simply just use the off button, while on trust, you just need to use the add button and search the token and switch off the token. Why sending them out by burning gas? It may be worth some pizza some day.

NO, you need to send to any address or to a burn address, ithink that the most know Burn address for ethereum is 0x00000000, take a look and search about it, you will find easy the right address.

yes, you can send all your dead tokens to a random address but it costs money and I think the shipping costs are far more valuable than the dead tokens you have in your wallet, my advice is better you don't need to bother about it, you can ignore it or just pretend you don't have that token.

No actually. But you can send them into burning adress such as 0x9000000000" something like that. Where did you store your tokens? If you have an app imtoken you can make on option not showing on your display address. But still the tokens are just there but you wont be able to see it.  Much better if you are going to create a new wallet to dispose this wallet of you full of shitcoins. But why bothered with these shitcoins? Its okay if you have that its a pretty display on your wallet  ;D

But dont do sending it away, you never know if some of these tokens can be worth it later on just like bitcoin.

I have tons of worthless tokens/coins on my wallet, you can send them to an unknown or random wallet but this will cost you to pay gas for transaction fees. So, I just let them be since it doesn't affect my wallet anyway. If your wallet is left with just shitcoins just create a new wallet or just movr your altcoin with value.

Yes, you can remove those dead tokens out in your wallet, or you can just hide it in your wallet, in my case I'm using imtoken wallet 2.0 with hiding option so I can hide those dead, spam and shitcoins tokens out of my sight because if you send it to random addresses you will spend for the gas fees so it is not practical base in my opinion.

Dont just throw them away Mate because there is a chance that one day those useless token will have value again.
there are some chances that dead project will be active again once the Market reached the High demand and the adoption happens for real.
in this case developed and teams will come back and make their old dead project alive again.and besides it is just a decoration in your wallet lol.

If you are still hoping that your dead coin will have value someday, just remove that mindset from thought cos it's never gonna happen. The best thing to do is to hide them from your wallet "not to see them again''. Those shitcoin is very annoying

You can't remove token from wallet, I think you just need transfer your tokens that still have value to new wallet, and leave the dead project token or worthless token from your wallet

The better thing to do if you don't want to stored any shit tokens that has no value. is only transferring it to other address, you can create one or send to unknown address in that case you will not see it every time you checked your address balances.

Sometimes those worthless tokens send to your address will make it own value. I remember someone sended my address a tokens after a year not checking and using my wallet ,I checked it and there are free coins are tradeable which have almost  20$ so I sold its free money after all so why affraid having it.

The best way to make your ETH address look clean from the trash tokens is by sending all your ETH to a new address. This better than waste gas for every trash token tho does have a problem if you also have a token that worth keeping.

You can send it to the burning address
0x00000000000000000000000000000000dead
But I think it's better to just make a new wallet, because if you send a token it will require a fee, especially if there are many types of tokens.
Creating a new wallet is a shortcut to save fees

if you don't like it, make a new Myetherwallet, and send coins that you don't like there. Well, I do that to get rid of coins that I don't use. for some coins that still have transactions in forkdelta, I still keep it in the hope that the price will rise.

No mate. That's not possible rather what you will have to do is create another wallet address, send tokens you wish not to see in your main wallet to the new address by so doing, you get to see only tokens you want in your main wallet. There's no option to delete or remove tokens on the blockchain aside transferring it to another wallet address.
Its disheartening that we cant delete some tokens from our ERC20 wallet especially but I think it should be enabled in the future. Even those token sent to the new wallets might one day be swapped for another token , which is high probability if one deals with high number of token. So it is unavoidable problem, It needs solution, I wish it can also be burnt. I have several of them, some as airdrop that I didnt request, which are less than a dollar, useless and insignificant.

You can not remove those useless tokens but you can try to sell those tokens in forkdelta if there is a bidder, or you can make a new wallet if you really annoyed those useless tokens.
if he really doesn't like the token from the airdrop he followed, I think let him do it, but remember,
we don't know in the future what the token will be like!

I understand that feeling because I am also in the same shoe with you, but come to think of it, why wasting gas fees for a useless token? In my own case I just ignored them and pretended as if they are not existing. So I will advice you to do the same, they are useless and therefore not worth the gas fee of sending them out to another wallet. Lastly, there is no way of deleting any token from a wallet other than to send it to another wallet.

I think it is best to create a new address and use it. That will save you too much time, and you don't need to waste gas to move them to other wallets

With the amount of dead projects in my wallet, it actually makes more sense to move the live ones to a separate wallet!

However, in light of what others have said here, I might just leave it. It was just something I found a little annoying as it looked cluttered

For me I did not delete it Im just let them in my wallet for a time to comeback again but if not Ill change another wallet if I have to. Sometime in our wallet are full of shitcoins coming from airdrop we participated and no value even do we hold it for so long. So if we want to get more altcoins and not being useless we need to carefully to choose so that we cannot let them throw away because of no prices or not listed in exchange.

would you mind tell if how long you usually wait for your coins to have a value  because here ive been waiting forever but still my coins only grow a tiny percent and im now starting to get pissed off or loose hope  . why would you also change another wallet  ? you can just leave them there tho and its not bothering at all . or if you have extra eth , you can just send them somewhere  then voila you wallet is clean again   . there is now way to perfectly pick a project that wont turn into waste so you have to accept that some coins you will be getting can have a zero value too
I did not expect how long that I hold some of my altcoins receive from airdrop cause I know that would not totally increase the price but some of them I put in Blockfolio so I can easily seen if they grow or not. And actually Ill change wallet because of these too many airdrop altcoins I receive since the time of crypto drop the price so much. But I did not leave it anyway I just put in another files for a time if one of them raise the price in no time.

hahaha why did you bother to delete the dead token in your wallet, The reason for sending tokens to wallet addresses requires Gas. If you have a lot of eth, you can do that or send  Tokens to burning addresses. But if you don't have eth, it's better if you leave your token off in your wallet as your collection of assets

For $ 0 tokens, you should get rid of them by creating a better new wallet instead of sending it to others. Because each transaction will cost you a fee from time to time, you may have to spend $ 1 to send only $ 0 tokens. It's not a good solution, or you can consider it as a souvenir when participating in some projects. or if you're lucky, one of those tokens will revive and grow x100 times like the Energi tokend once did. ;D

This is true during those years tokens are very valuable even a non ICO airdrop have value and easily can be exchange into btc or eth but now, they are all just a bunch of display in our wallets.

For OP, just leave it there nothing you can do to dispose of them unless you really that persuasive and can spend so much for gas. Better thing to do is create new wallet which is much easier than sending those token to eternity.

Your last statement make sense. I mean I understand how the OP was so annoyed with a lot of shitcoins boarding your wallet. But, most of the wallet does have an option to hide specific coins specially the shitcoins.
@OP don't send it anywhere else you'll pay for gas with every transactions. Just leave it as is, ignore them if you dont have the options to hide it. Some shitcoin might be useful in the future.

You can't remove token from wallet, I think you just need transfer your tokens that still have value to new wallet, and leave the dead project token or worthless token from your wallet

There is no point in creating a new wallet every time you get a token with a zero price. If you participate in bounties and airdrops, you will have many more such tokens. Just learn not to notice them, especially since it is possible to make them invisible.

Arrgh, I hate these scam tokens piling up at my address. And you know what, as opposed to what most people are telling, you can't transfer all those tokens to other address. Some tokens have transfer locks in their contracts and if u try to transfer them your transaction will fail. This is what I dislike the most. My address and I can't even choose to kick out tokens I don't like. As for gas fees, ya sure you need to spend it, but if you can send these tokens to other address and keep ur main address neat and clean, then it's sure worth the few cents of fees spent.

You can send them to any waste wallet or just sample ignore/hide  8)
Very simple thinking, if someone sends a garbage token to another wallet, it will cost gas / shipping costs, and ignoring or hiding the token in the wallet is the way lazy people who do not want to see or find out how to burn the trash token.

I do not recommend you to delete it

Yup, you can delete any worthless tokens from your wallet. I have done that with Trust Wallet (that’s the only wallet I have been using since I experienced that). There was an airdrop I participated in, the name is Cubechain (QUB) and after I was inactive and they sent the tokens to my Trust wallet address. I just don’t know what happened , but by the time I logged back to Trust wallet, I saw 500 QUB's that are worth zero dollars lol.

I removed the token by clicking the Plus (+) sign at the top right corner of the app. Once you open the page you will see every active coins and tokens in your wallet and you can deactivate whatever you want.

You cannot delete any token at all from your wallet, either useful or useless, either trust or imtoken wallet, you cannot delete any token.

If you want to stop seeing those coins, you can just simply remove it from the list of your top coins in the wallet. The token will still show on etherscan.io irregardless of (temporary) removal from wallet

Just click the + sign on the wallet, and - such tokens

But if you need token later in the future, click the + sign as well, and add the token back by clicking the + sign.

You can create a new wallet. Send there (with lowest available gas) tokens that you think worth or would worth something and post your private key in some public place. I'm sure there will be people who will wish grab these useless tokens. Or create a giveaway of your wallet with useless tokens :)

Yes, and that is only specific to wallet users via their smart phones, whereas when they open through ethplorer and etherscan, everything will also appear again, and sending junk tokens to other wallets will only waste your own gas / fee.

You have a choice if you want to get rid of them. Send to other addresses (but you have to pay for gas), choose not to display them so it wont visible but still there existing or create another wallet to start over.

I have few worthless tokens but I just leave it there, well its a memory of my past joined/invested projects so seeing them is not that bad. Who knows it might regain its value in the future.

Why do you have to send it to the address, just let that stay in your wallet, who knows when the bull run comes that coin will pump, then you will enjoy a good profit, you know regret will always come in the end, but we know this market is very unpredictable, if in the past, dead coins pump, I think it could possibly happen this coming bull run.

Make a new address to make the useless token and forget the private key also you do not want to send random addresses. I've also done that for just a few tokens, now I better leave it in the wallet as a collection haha :D, because it will dispose of ETH as well as gas.

I think that if there are tokens that are useless, there is no need to throw them away and if you make a new wallet just to store tokens that have an estimated value it will only make you confused one day and of course you will lose shipping costs because you use ethereum for costs. shipping, it's better to leave it alone and hope that the token wallet has a valid estimated value.

If you have plenty of those shit tokens like me in your wallet let them be in there, if you send it randomly the you have to spend eth for gas. It is better than to make another wallet address if you don't like seeing them instead of spending some gas for no reasons at all.

No mate. That's not possible rather what you will have to do is create another wallet address, send tokens you wish not to see in your main wallet to the new address by so doing, you get to see only tokens you want in your main wallet. There's no option to delete or remove tokens on the blockchain aside transferring it to another wallet address.
Good point at least he still have the tokens though it was carried in another wallet and this will save OP if ever the tokens he wishes to delete appears to have value in future because i believe that this happens before.
Just create a new wallet and transfer everything useful to there
same advice from what i quoted above you.

why nee to create new address when he can just send to random addresses that he can find in some spreadsheets in altcoin bounty section.

You can't do that, and I think you, like me before, also wanted to delete very low-value coins from your wallet and didn't want to see them.

But there are projects that seem to be dead one day, the development team has been revived and maybe those coins have brought you great profits. If you really don't want to see it, you should create a new wallet. Do not waste ETH fee to transfer it to another wallet

I don't think it's possible, with some apps you can hide the tokens but it won't be deleted from the wallet. What I do is send valuable tokens to a different and leave the worthless ones in another wallet

It's the clearly there are many unless token have still our wallet but we can't never upset. Because you need to focus next good coins and just thinking avoid death coin. Even we know 80% of death coins come from scam project and airdrop.

Dead altcoins are airdropped for promotion and marketing purposes, these altcoins are not reliable. Burning these tokens is necessary for me because the dust coins cost a time to check every time when I open my ETH address. For burning sending tokens to this address is ok: 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000

As a person with a slight OCD, I think I can understand why someone needs to do that. For me, those useless token looks distracted and I just want them to go away, tidy up which token I need to keep track and whatnot. Kinda hard to explain but like every day you take a look at your address and see that same shit token again and you need to do something to clean up.

Just create a new wallet and transfer everything useful to there

Unfortunately, this is the only method available for those who use ERC-20 platforms right now. And I regard this as one of the drawbacks of this platform. I used to be very active in airdrops and bounty campaigns, and as a result I receive a lot of spam tokens (i.e promotional tokens) in my ERC-20 address. I can't get rid of them, as there is no option to delete them. If I move the good tokens to another wallet, then I need to pay the transaction fee.

But you can use lowest available gas/gwei to transfer tokens to etherdelta or forkdelta. Transaction with 21000 gas and 3 gwei cost a bit more than 1 cent. If you really have a lot, I suppose you are able to spend 1 dollar to get rid of them :) Think about it, few dollars and your wallet is clean from trash

You can face only 1 problem, some tokens could be locked...

You cannot remove those tokens from your wallet, you can simply move it to a new address. But surely you will waste gas to do so. Why not create a new address, it will be much simpler and faster

You can send it to another ethereum wallet, or to this wallet - 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dead it is a token burn wallet, but you will have to pay fees for each transfer and when you send ERC20 token, the transaction fee is much higher.  :'(

You cannot delete it from your wallet,  all you can do is to transfer from your wallet to another wallet or you just abandon the wallet and make use of new wallet,  but I will prefer you abandoned it and use new one because of stress in transferring and gas money,  sometimes eth network will be congested and gas fee is high

You can do anything with tokens already owned in the wallet including kicking out shitcoin, shitcoin lists are very annoying but throwing them away requires transaction fees, another option is to hide shitcoin using metamask.

Since they are dead tokens, they will not affect anything on your wallet, but you will be charged with paying the transfer fees. The other thing is that there are currencies that we cannot transfer or sell it in wallet because the owners of the project have locked it so that we cannot sell them.

yes, maybe you can send it to the address randomly, or if you want you can send it to my address. I understand your feelings because I'm also feeling it where all the tokens in the wallet are almost all useless or not valuable. but I'm sure there is still hope, because the tokens that I collected from 2018 did initially seem hopeless, but after this time I checked again there were developments in exchange. although it's very slow, but I think that's positive rather than nothing.

I'm curious to know how did you earn this useless token. If you earned all token by social hunting than you can't be over sure that all token is useless. Only most of the airdrop token will be useless. There is no exists process that you can burn your all useless token. Good suggestion from some advisors that change your wallet after long time like Ethereum blockchain wallet.

Better create a new wallet. If you have a lot of dubious coins, then you probably took part in a lot of dubious projects, who knows whether you made a mistake somewhere or not.
In addition, your wallet may be in the registry of spammers who send advertising spam coins. My advice is to create a new one.

when making a new wallet again I don't think it would be a good solution, because surely sending tokens to a new wallet will require shipping costs and certainly it will make you confused because you have lots of wallets and will make you confused when you want to use it.

Sure, you can send them to whatever address you want, but why? You'll use gas for no good reason... I have about 10 dead tokens, i really don't care. I just ignore them.

Very wise reply, why send the dead tokens out when you will still waste gas fee. What i normally do is hide them if the wallet permits or just ignore as mentioned. What harm does it do to your wallet? So what's the essence worrying about dead tokens in your wallet. Also a token i tagged dead in my wallet surprised me, the project rebranded and i swapped the tokens and made close to 100$ from it.

Well.. it can be very irritating. But why spend valuable gas on these worthless tokens? It is a self-defeating purpose. And if you do this, then these tokens will be causing a loss for you. The best thing to do would be to ignore these tokens. How many times do you login to your wallet? Once in a week? Or once in a month? I would understand your frustration, in case you need to login every hour.

Sending it to other wallet is not the best option, you need to spend a gas fee just to remove it and it is something that you shouldn't do. You don't need to spend on something that you didn't get a profit. Just leave it on your wallet or maybe create a new one just to avoid seeing those useless tokens inside your wallet.

I see no reason to get rid of "dead" tokens in my wallet. Let them remind me of a certain work done earlier. Moreover, there are many types of tokens that wake up a long time after we assigned them to the category of “dead”.
It seems to me that it will be easier to create a new wallet than to mess with removing unnecessary tokens. This problem can occur if there are a lot of tokens in the wallet and you want to clean up the mess. Then they can be sent somewhere, or made invisible.

It's hard for any normal user to delete erc20 token. If the creator of the token leave a function like self destruction then only it's possible. But still it's hard cause it's need a lots of knowledge and I think it's costly too. I think better you s nd those to a dead address that would be better. Though you have to pay fees. Why are you gonna wast your time and money for any shitcoin. Leave you where it is. Thatbis the best step in my opinion.

useless token can be regarded as Dead Coins which is refer to cryptocurrencies that have been abandoned, used as scam, their website is down, has no nodes, has wallet issues, doesn't have social updates, has low volume or developers have walked away from the project.
useless token can also be regarded as token that investor has refuse to demand for  which is value less since the value is been determine by force of demand and supply.
its like a waste so one can dispose it off

Why not just wait for them and ignore it for a while. Cause some bounty project in the past have suddenly become alive and go back to being active. If you are annoyed with the wallet you are using, many suggest already to create a new one. This is not a major issue for me and if you are bothered and wanted to dispose it then feel free to spend money for the gas sending it to random wallet or just burned it on thin air. But why is that matter to you anyway? Tokens deliberately gone value most of the time and thats normal. Maybe you just not used to it or cant take the idea that your wallet is full of shitcoins.

Of course, you can send your worthless tokens to another wallet,

But this will only lead you to spend gas fees just to dispose of them. Why don't you just keep it to your wallet or maybe create another wallet? You don't have to spend anything with these options, because there is no other option like deleting or removing it unless you pay for the gas.

You can create another ETH wallet and send your unless tokens to that address. But in this process you will have to spend the gas. I would personally do not mind if i had any number of tokens in my wallet. You never know you might be holding  token which is useless today but might be expensive in the furtue. lol yeah mate same here  . my wallet looks like lively and not boring because they fill them  . i like to see my wallet this way except seeing the overall price of them    . still i need to look at thier price or on the total price of my whole coins so that i know if some of them have pump and then i could sell them for good profits   but until now they still the same   . over 3 years have passed and thier value is still the same  but im not yet to loose hope . waiting and hodling is fee anyways

I use to have this ideal before but then i decided to just leave them in the wallet. Who knows maybe tomorrow the might be worth something tangible. I just let them stay dead in the wallet hoping that one day they may rise from the dead lol.

Why would you want to delete them from your wallet. It may not be worth anything at the moment, but in the future it can be listed in exchanges and you can sell them and get a small amount.

good thinking, instead of throwing the token in the trash it is better to keep it, I also have a token in my wallet MEW, yeah from Airdrop and Bounty, it makes me disappointed, but if I think about the garbage token, then my time is useless

Don't bother throwing the coins away because sometimes useless coins can become useful in future, I earned some tokens from airdrop in 2018 and I just left the coins in my wallet because the value is 2$, this year the coins turn 60$, I sold already, imagine how many years I waited, do not underestimate useless coins and tokens

Sure, you can send them to whatever address you want, but why? You'll use gas for no good reason... I have about 10 dead tokens, i really don't care. I just ignore them.

Yes, this is correct. Why should i lost my ETH to send tokens to another wallets? Actually i think there is no system that we can disable them from wallet unless transfer. So don't do this and don't lose your transfer fee just avoid them. I have also lots of tokens that has no value in $.

Sending tokens to other addresses are not a good solution, because when you send the token to another address, You will be charged a commission when you make a transaction. Tokens that have entered your wallet cannot be deleted, but if you use an Im-token wallet, you can hide tokens that have no sale value. It means, your token still exists, but your wallet looks neat because the token you want to discard is no longer displayed.

yes, even though it looks very annoying if the value of the coins we have has no price at all, at least some of the coins that have entered our storage wallet can be used as collections, rather than none at all the coins that go into the wallet that we have because most are always get projects that end in fraud due to lack of conscientiousness to choose clear projects. maybe in the next few years the dirt coins we have can become very valuable in the future

I believe OP never thinks that before he asks. I understand how disappointed he is and wanting to clean up his wallet but that was not a good idea for that sometimes a shit/dead coin become hypes and certainly, you can't imagine the price.

You are right, there is no need to clean our wallet and throw shit coins in the garbage because we have to pay it either and that is to be considered as a loss at our end. But if we can afford to do it, then that's OP's decision but of course, we don't need to happen as we are having crypto for money, not to add expenses.

Maybe you can be right about that, but it is really hard to think about coins which are useless can be useful in the future. It is indefinite, but if you want to send your useless coins to any wallet address, it seems like great idea, but for sending coins you must pay some fee, l mean transactions. That is why it is not great idea as expected. Maybe you have to get used to it.

There is no delete button on each platform unless you will sent it on different exchange or you must change your address so you will not be having a hard time to delete it, but for me don't delete it, it was a proof of your hardwork maybe it has no value but it would be your motivation to find legit project.

In fact, I'd love to see my wallet with a number of dead coins, I consider it a crypto collection not a burden to my case. Yes, they don't have value but something it commemorates me and able to see the changes happened in the crypto world. These coins do not deserve to throw away because they don't value at this time but instead, keeping it because who knows, it can be valuable in the future.

It's true, creating a new wallet is better because it is only free and there is no need for him to spend even a little amount of gas just to remove tokens in his wallet. It is much easier than sending it to a random wallet, it will take your time and hassle compared to creating a new one.

I agree with you that he should keep his tokens in his wallet. If he have troubles with many of them he can

On rare occasions, some tokens that have a very low price can rebound later. But I guess that the OP is not talking about them. He is rather talking about shitcoins, that have become completely worthless. He may be also talking about the promotional tokens (i.e token spam). In such cases, there is zero chances of any rebound in the prices. When the project is abandoned, who will be willing to purchase the tokens?

Yes, that is the last and very simple solution, I think, because it would be ridiculous if someone threw away a gas fee for junk tokens or shitcoin, then it would be better to use a new wallet and leave the old wallet at the data storage.

I don't think you can delete unwanted tokens in your wallet unless you send it to other address.
Let it sit in your wallet, it is not that you will lose your coin if you have it. Who knows that the token will have great value in the future.
You will need some gas fee to transfer the token, so it is better to leave it.

You cannot delete any tokens to your wallet the only thing just you need is to hide those coins because to the wallet they know the capability of their coins even there is no use for now because there are a lot of coins starting at zero trades and not too much popular bitcoin is the same with the tokens does not recognize but the time goes by it becomes more profitable and gained a lot of popularity so it is not good if they are trying to delete those coins on the wallet but the users can only hide it.

it's not impossible, as long as we still have eth for a fee, you can make the token in a wallet that you don't use. however, I have a suggestion. you should collect tokens that do not have these prices into one wallet. we don't know because maybe in the future, there will be several tokens that have a price, or you can sell them at forkdelta.

You just spoke my mind. We need to learn lessons on what is happening in the crypto space.
Oh! The coin is a shitcoin?
Does the coin have no value?
Are we sure of what the future holds for such coin?
If the user is tired of seeing the coin every day, perhaps when he opens his wallet since there are millions of wallets that can be created on Ethereum platform, he can just leave that wallet somewhere, but with the private key saved in a safe place and then create a new wallet to be used.
It is as simple as that.

You can't delete the tokens but you can send to another wallet or a dedicated wallet you created for the sole purpose of keeping useless tokens, in this way getting rid of them. But thinking about it, why wasting the gas fee on a useless token? Why not just ignore and pretend it's never in your wallet since it is not worth it.

Why should you waste money on useless tokens? Just create a new address and use it. Moving tokens will cost some small money, but if you move multiple times it will certainly be a significant amount of money.

that right, better to use gas fee to usefull transaction not for gargabe token. if we have more token , more money we will use to tranfer it into another wallet. maybe use new address could be good decision ,moreover its very easy to create.
Moreover, if you want to transfer those useless tokens to another wallet address, you must create one more wallet address. So, why don't we use the new wallet address we created instead of passing the useless token into it.  :D

maybe OP is using Single wallet eversince and now he takes it hard
to check all the currency in His wallet and many has
no value but i think whats better now is just create other wallet
and send all the valuable currency on that and
leave all the worthless in this way he can separate the valuable
from the no value at all and also it is not wise
using one wallet in multiple tokens instead create each of them.

Yes you can do such thing of sending those zero value coins into any random address but you will be just making an effort and you will have to spend money to provide gas on sending it. It will be just a waste of time, effort and money. If the wallet you have just only contains those useless tokens, better be do some actions by just creating a new wallet so that you have a clean wallet and you can start from the beginning having to useless tokens in your wallet. By that way, you will be spending any amount just to get rid of your useless tokens. Wise move and decision to do such move because sending it into another address will just cost you to spend money on providing a gas for it. But if the wallet you have contains both valuable and useless tokens, better just ignore those useless tokens for they will cause you no harm at all. Better move forward not thinking of those because it is just normal to face such experience here in this industry.

Yes! Sure, send it to the burn address of all erc 20 tokens and you would have no need retrieving them because funds sent to the erc 20 burning address can't sent funds back. So if you are very sure then you can proceed to using the burning address of erc 20 tokens. just sent the particular token to that address and it's lost forever.

that right, better to use gas fee to usefull transaction not for gargabe token. if we have more token , more money we will use to tranfer it into another wallet. maybe use new address could be good decision ,moreover its very easy to create.
maybe he doesn't want to replace his wallet with a new wallet, I also still use the old wallet and lots of useless coins in it, but I just let it go, sometimes I move coins that have value to a safer wallet

Convert all the tokens to BTC or another cryptocurrency so that no useless tokens remain in your wallet. No way to delete them. Only withdraw or convert.

I don't think that you understood the question. In an ERC-20 wallet, there is no option to convert your tokens. For that, you need to move the tokens to an exchange account and trade with them. But moving out these tokens will incur a certain fee. And that is the reason why the OP is getting frustrated. He doesn't want to spend his hard earned money on getting rid of these worthless tokens.

There is no remove button to delete tokens from your wallet. You're probably referring to MyEtherWallet. You can only remove these tokens by sending its to another address, as if you were making a valuable transaction. However, it is good to keep them, maybe in the future these tokens will be worth something, even if now these tokens are shitcoin.

Don't waste eth for gas fee if you think your coins are worthless. You'll just spend money on that if you do. Just use new wallet if those tokens bothers you. With that, you will not spend eth and at the same time you won't see those tokens/coins if you find them annoying.

The best option is to ignore them. Your suggestion (i.e creating a new wallet) is also going to cost a lot of gas, as the token holder needs to move all of his useful tokens to the new address. And not a very good suggestion right now, given the high gas prices. But if it gives peace of mind, then I won't say anything against. Just move all your tokens to a new wallet and end the headache once and for all.

You should not care about the gas and you can send these tokens with a very very small amount of gas and you will not expect your token to arrive in the default address in a short time. I guess people would like to see the token will be removed and there were only reliable assets on their wallet.

In order to remove all those tokens from your wallet, I believe it will take you a lot of money and time to make those transactions. So I recommend you continue to keep them in your wallet, and if you're still uncomfortable with them. You can create a new address and use it

Cannot be deleted, it will always be in your wallet. Yes, of course, you can send it to another wallet, but it will hurt you because you need a transaction fee for it, isn't it better to use it for other, more useful transactions?

Well, what is your goal to want shitcoin to disappear from your wallet? if you want your wallet clean then just make a new wallet, simple right?

Just leave them as they cause no harm than wasting your gas fee on a dead token. Not all projects are here for real, most of them are scams, dump on investors without developing any actual product

I also always let tokens that have no price, but sometimes there are also tokens that have not been in the market but the team is still active, so don't ever throw away your tokens, who knows that tokens will later have a value in the future if the project team is still active

Yes! you can by sending them to unknown addresses but as you can see, this method requires you to pay some transaction fees. this is the only method that works.
LOL, it's funny that you believe the "dead" token teams would continue their projects sometime in the future. It's good to be positive but sometime we need to look at the truth. No offend but cryptocurrency market has a lot of scam and that's what we need to accept. The more profits, the more risk you have to face! I'm a perfectionist so it's so annoyed to look at a huge list of shit coins but what else can we do? LOL :>

As far as I know you can use some custom wallet and add the contract code of only the coins which you wanna view . This way other coins won't be visible in your wallet.

If they are tokens and not coins you can delete their contact address so they won't display in your wallet interface, only add tokens you want on the interface, wallets like coinomi and trust wallet get the job done easily

I don't think that you would be able to delete them in your wallet permanently unless you send to into another wallet address and waste gas to cover up for trasanctions fees. If you don't them to see you can always have another wallet but don't just forget the old one cause you never know, one of those useless tokens might have an epic comeback and give you profitable rewards who have never gotten from any other tokens you have.

You can't really get rid of useless tokens from your wallet completely, as in 100% but you can do one of these two options

1. Send the worthless tokens to unknown eth address that you have no control over

2. Remove the contract address manually so that the tokens won't show again on your wallet unless you track your address with etherscan

Yes, it is all the result of our work. Just leave it in the wallet, maybe one day it will be valuable. Or the OP can create a new address and use it, no need to waste time and money moving those tokens to another wallet.

Do not do that, holding doesn´t cost you anything and you didn´t know which coin will come to a life and make you rich.  ;) While sending them cost you your Ethers, so at the end you will be in a loss.

Title: Re: Can I 'delete' useless tokens from my wallet?

That's not possible, instead, what you'll have to do is create another wallet address, send the token you want not to see in your main wallet to the new address by doing, you just see the tokens you want in your main wallet. I think the better solution is to use a safer new address for your ETH and leave the invalid ERC20 tokens in the old address. That way, you only move your money once.

Most worthless tokens will never become valuable in the future. I have more than 300 types of tokens like that in my wallet, but no project has really revived in the past 3 years and made me profitable. And put it in your wallet as a souvenir

We can not simply delete tokens from our wallet. Some wallets provides the feature of hiding desired coins. Sending unwanted coins to unknown address will incur gas fees which is unnecessary cost-effective.

It's a right choice, discarding coins will use up gas fees and maybe you will repeatedly make transactions just to throw away useless coins, the solution is to hide filtered coins will display decent coins.

its better to live it there and just don't bother to pay attention to it.

If the OP doesn't want to see all those worthless tokens, aside from hiding it as suggested by everyone. He can just create a new wallet eth address, very easy in MEW. Just don't forget where you put your private keys and password. At least if you want to start fresh, you have a brand new eth wallet address.

There was a burning address and he doesn't need to send it into the another wallet. The problem has already fixed and it looks like he has already sent his coin to the burning address. We should not disrupt the address that owned by others.

No one can delete any token from his wallet, had it been its possible many tokens would have been deleted from several wallets, I guess having those tokens in our wallets is to remind us to always make a good decision, my funny thought though. Also, you can send the token to another wallet or you can hide the token in the wallet, but I think this depends on the type of wallet you currently using. Lastly, even sending to another wallet will also require gas fee, hence if you are willing to spare a little gas fee, you can try sending to another wallet.

Who wishes to get rid of worthless tokens can do in two ways: 1. Send them to the contract address (or find some address) and spent some ETH for fees and you will have a clean wallet. 2. Create a new wallet and you will have a clean wallet.
There's no other way, I suggest option 2! Keep new wallet clean and private, send there only what you plan to hold, and old wallet can be used for everything like you are using it now!

Although worthless tokens ,just a decoration in your wallet. But if you really don't want to see this tokens everytime you open your wallet,it's very simple, create a new wallet and forget that old one.

Why use a phone number, is a phone number something that should be used only to store tokens? and also, it's only natural that he wants to delete the token because even most of the tokens in the token wallet are shit tokens because they aren't even listed on any exchange. Making a new wallet is indeed the best and fastest solution.

@bussybuddy I don't think that some tokens will rise in price and get listed! Many of those tokens don't have teams anymore, they abandoned projects, and you can't expect anything from them. And some people don't like watching them, and I understand that. When you have a lot of useless tokens in your wallet it's trouble to find what you need.
I already have two wallets, one is my private and clean wallet, and the first wallet I still use for all kinds of giveaways, sometimes airdrops, bounties, and all new things.

In my wallet, there are also coins like in your wallet, but to make something about these coins seems to me something wasting-time. l don't want to spend a few time to send or delete them from my wallet. It is just your opinion. If you want to do it, just do it.

Very funny, seem you got loads of shit tokens, you can't actually delete them, but you can turn of the ticker  through the setting option, once it's turned off, it won't show in your wallet, but it's still there unless you want to completely send it out to a particular address.

it will waste money on the cost of disposing of tokens on certain wallets. leave it there, it won't bother us either. even though it's garbage, I don't think we need to throw it away let alone we have to spend more money to throw it away.

Some tokens have switches in their contracts and if you try to transfer them, your transaction will fail. This is my least favorite. My address and I can't even choose to remove the tokens that I don't like.

Yes, you can send it to a new wallet but it is totally waste of time and gas, so ignore it may be one coin in dead coin give you some good return in future.

To the best of my understanding so far, there is no way yet to delete tokens from a wallet other than sending to a different address or switching off the token, thus making it hidden in your wallet, in that way, you won't even know it is there and gradually forgets about it. However, I think switching off the token from your settings would be the best idea since sending out the token to a different address costs gas fees which a useless token doesn't deserve.

Keep it in your wallet. Most likely in the future those tokens will be listed in exchanges and you will be able to sell it. Do not waste time and money to be able to move them to another wallet

it might be an idea to move all the spam tokens or those that are now unusable on a new wallet created on purpose but I'm afraid that the transaction fees may be high, then there are those tokens like aeternity that have changed blockchain and therefore you can no longer move and will remain forever in our wallet

That's 100 percent correct. When we have a chance to earn money from this wallet, why will we ruin it? I don't care what people think about my shit coins. Actually no one cares about other wallets shit coins. The Tokens list is always getting updated by new tokens, some old tokens lost marketcap. If you are lucky, your tokens could be top.

Depends on the kind of wallet you are using. Trust wallet and imtoken for example offer you the opportunity to toggle on and off the tokens you don't want shown in your asset list when you access these wallets. Unfortunately, I don't think you can chose to delete these assets completely. You can either chose to display them or hide them. Should you want to delete them, maybe you should consider sending the said tokens back to their contract addresses or send them back to the addresses you got them from in the first place.

Blockchain and smart contracts would be worthless if it would allow someone to just delete a few tokens and keep on going... like it was sai previously, there is no way to do this, you can choose for MEW to not display these tokens, send them somewhere else ~(need to pay fees), or just createanother wallet to send your valid tokens (need to pay fees)
I just leave them alone and they do not bother me :)

Indeed why not? you can just delete useless tokens from your wallet, or maybe you can send it to any wallet. But in my mind to delete is the best variant instead of sending tokens in any wallet. Maybe if you don't see these tokens anymore, it can be also helpful to create a new wallet and then send your tokens in this wallet. Maybe it can be also a solution, it is up to you what to do.

I found a tutorial here about how to hide the tokens you don't want to see anymore.
https://github.com/MetaMask/metamask-extension/pull/4482
So, what we do is to hide the tokens, mate? Not remove them, right? Sure we don't have gas with that way. But this is a good way, at least all the dead tokens aren't visible anymore. I also prefer to hide them than sending them to a random address that requires some gas. Anyway, thanks for sharing the info, will try!!  ;)

Well it depends on you if you deleted or not, Because for me I keep them because they have time it will going to swap to another tokens and have a chance to trade them into a high price. But if we think there was no future the tokens we have so just leave them it waste of time to hold them for so long.

As of now I have more than 10 tokens in my wallet and one of them are forgotten or abandoned to the project that I participated.

Well, I think this will be a good idea if the Op is desperately wanting to remove those tokens. However, the tome, the effort and money (fees) that would be used on this should have been better used on something more productive.
Also, doing a thing like this, in a time such as this, when transaction fee is so much, it means that OP would have to use a big fund for that. Particularly if the tokens he wants to discard are so much.

There is no point in removing unnecessary tokens from your wallet, because new unnecessary coins may soon appear there. In addition, transferring such coins to a random address will bring you an additional loss in the form of a paid transfer fee. I haven't paid attention to such coins for a long time, but there is always a chance that the price of the coin may one day rise.

The best way is to create a new address and use it. It only takes 30 seconds to create a new address and everything will be easy. Why do we have to waste time moving those tokens to a new address?

I just encountered that in other sections, you answer questions, help people and then after a day or two you check your post for responses and they're gone, because the thread got deleted. I do hope yours will continue to move on for this has been asked many times and my two cents worth here is I treat these useless coins like souvenirs of a time. I use these shitcoins as memories for certain events in my life during the time I got those. So don't delete them. It's a waste of resources if you use your resource to send these to other addresses. Keep them and use them as memories.

I think there's no deleting of tokens or coins in our wallet. The only way is to make another wallet and send to that address only the tokens that are valuable and leave the ones that has no value, but the thing is you have to use eth gas for the transaction. I also have several tokens with no value even about 3 years, and i just left it behind my wallet.

Is it that difficult to keep these tokens in your wallet? Apart from making the wallet a bit clumsy, they don't cause any other harm. You always have the option of moving to another wallet. But with ETH gas fees at extremely high levels right now, this is not something that I would be recommending. The ERC-20 algorithm doesn't give you the freedom to delete tokens. You need to live with that.

Personally, I am more willing to leave the token in my wallet instead of having to sacrifice Gas fees for burning tokens, because everyone already knows about Gas fees which are not stable at this time, so they have to pay a little more expensive for each transaction.

As said in the previous post, that is a very good decision, considering we all never know, what will happen to a project for the next 5 or 10 years.
A lot of people seem to be making their junk tokens into this wallet, and now let's take a look at the balance of the wallet

Dead Token Address: https://etherscan.io/address/0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dead

Yes, it is possible to remove tokens from dead projects/tokens that are totally useless and worth $0 from your wallet to others wallet. But it will take a lot of transaction fees. If your wallet is not very favorite and important to you, then there is no need to do it.

Hmmm, the pains of seeing useless tokens in our wallets is something else entirely. This is because most projects which were invested in turned out to be scams and hence leading to the token being useless, and wherein the team has made away with the money generated, users or investors are left with a useless token which will always serve as a reminder, and it's painful.
However, regarding your question, sadly there is nothing anyone can do about it not even the team of the project. It is a one way thing, and that is, you can only send it out but the question is, since the token is useless does it make any sense spending gas fees or transaction fees on it? As for me it doesn't especially when taking into account the gas fees of a blockchain like Ethereum. So that left us with one option, abandon the wallet and go for another.

You can create an address and send them, but I feel that's not economical considering the fact that the gas fee is quite high and the tokens are worthless. It would be best to abandon the wallet full of worthless tokens and create a new wallet that would be censored against worthless tokens.

You can donate such tokens to the charity organizations, surely they will hold it until the day listing on the exchange. I have seen such new projects that aim to collect useless tokens. Another alternative option is to send these tokens to the mentioned ETH address: 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000

The same fee will be paid if the user gets rid of the useless tokens or send the valuable tokens from the old address to the new ETH address. The worthless tokens should stay on the old ETH wallet as a dust and should avoid playing with the mentioned type of altcoins. There is nothing wrong HODL useless tokens even if the list is going to be bigger than yesterday every day.

It actually will cost you for transferring it. And you know and I that gas fees today are not that cheap anymore. We tend to complain if the fees are high and for those people that have useless tokens on their wallets, that's what you need to do. I also think that you can also remove that by hiding its appearance on that wallet. I can't remember that contract address which you are allowed to do in MEW so that any token can be visible or be hidden.

That could help us to select during the next project. When I see my bad research to receive these useless tokens, I will realize my fault. I'm keeping my tokens at my address. We shouldn't send tokens to another wallet, now that's will cost us more than we imagine. Ethereum blockchain transaction cost is different to send the same tokens.

If you really want to delete them in the sense of that they shouldn't be on your wallet anymore you probably have to send them to another adress so they are gone. Some people in this thread posted already a burn adress.
But then you also have to pay a transaction fee for every dead coin you want so send there. But i think most wallets also have the ability to hide tokens, which means to not show tokens that you don't want to be shown.

Title: Re: Can I 'delete' useless tokens from my wallet?

Some wallets like Atomic wallet let you select the tokens you want to see and just ignore the ones you want. This way your real balance will not be affected by trash tokens. This is a really useful feature.

And i agree that those tokens don't worth the fees to send them away. Is just spend gas (fees) to take them out of your wallet, that sounds just like a waste of money. So, the best thing to do is to configure your wallet to ignore them. At least that's the free way to deal with them.

I don't think you can do that. What you can do is transfer the token to other address.
Just transfer it to burn address like 0x000... and it will be gone from your wallet.
But why do you want to get rid of it ? You need gas fee to move the token out of your wallet.

Why you want to waste some gas fee for some worthless token! If you have too many of them and don't want to see them in your wallet then just change your wallet. If you can not change your wallet then you can use a trusted wallet to hind your unwanted or shit token from your portfolio. Why you want to waste some gas fee for some worthless token! If you have too many of them and don't want to see them in your wallet then just change your wallet. If you can not change your wallet then you can use a trusted wallet to hind your unwanted or shit token from your portfolio. Trust wallet has this option to hide any token from your balance but you can not delete or remove it without sending it to a random address.

Just switch off token views simple. People will spray your wallet with useless tokens whether you want them or not. I never added any tokens to my clean wallet but it still got airdropped stuff I never asked for,,, and I will never be tempted to go to uniswap or whatever dex just to sell them. Many are tricks:)

Previously, the cost of a transaction on the Ethereum network was very low, so you could use a very popular solution to the problem, namely, send all unnecessary tokens to the wallet, which will act as a trash can. But today the process will be too expensive. Nevertheless, there is a way out even today, since not only TrustWallet, but also the official MyEtherWallet provides functionality that allows the user to disable unnecessary coin balances. I believe that today the need to get rid of unnecessary tokens in your wallet has disappeared.
In addition, one must take into account the fact that today there are still free distributions of tokens of very promising projects to wallets that have high activity.

Is it possible to remove tokens from dead projects/tokens that are totally useless and worth $0 from my wallet? Do I just send them to a random address? I don't want to burden anyone else with those shitcoins  :D
You could just simply forget that address or create a new one and transfer your valuable assets there but make sure to back-up your old because there might be hidden gems there just in case it happens to me sometimes. But its too costly to move tokens these days specially that gas is a pain in the ass unlike before its dirty cheap, now cost a fortune.

it could be but I don't think it's necessary, because the cost of sending tokens is now quite high.
Unless you really want to dump them.
and I think it doesn't matter if we have many types of tokens in our wallet. even though the token is worthless.

lol, you need eth for gas fee to be able to send the useless tokens to other address.
Better to keep those tokens in your wallet than spend ethereum to delete the tokens in my opinion.
Who knows some of those tokens will become massive adopted by people in the future.
true, who knows in the future the coins in wallets are useful and have value, I still have coins that have no price and have even been abandoned by the developer, if you want to throw them away the costs are very expensive and just waste money.

A few years back, I had an account with the Yobit exchange. They had this option to "dust" the balance. So if you don't like some of your coins or tokens, you can just "dust" these holdings, which will destroy them. It will not cost you anything. Unfortunately, the ERC-20 wallets doesn't have that option. And this is one of the aspects, where the ETH developers can work upon.

Just change your wallet man. It's not very hard to do that. Why you want to waste some ETH on useless token!. There is no way you can delete your token from your wallet you need to send it to another address. But there is some app like trust wallet that has the option to hide any unwanted token from the list so that it won't show up in your wallet but it won't delete your token either.

Why do you bother?
You just have to replace your wallet with a new one. All problems clear.
Creating a wallet is very easy, especially the ERC-20 wallet. It is very easy and no difficult term.

This is why its good to have more than one wallet, here is what I like doing, I have a separate wallet to gather junk tokens just in case, so I send the worthless tokens to the junk wallet, having more than one wallet isn't a bad idea, you can try that, do not send worthless tokens to unknown wallet address because I've seen dead coins coming back to life.

A very timely topic, especially for waves wallets. As a rule, this wallets have are hundreds of different useless types of coins that you cannot get rid of and they are create confusion when you are going to find the coin that you really need now. In general, it seems to me that the only way to radically get rid of all the garbage on wallets is to send them all to some unfamiliar address, but this is fraught with the fact that you will have to spend money on these transactions.

I have various coins that are of no value but I don't really care if I keep them, it's just that I never use the wallet again, I forget that wallet by creating a new wallet and will not use it again to receive unclear tokens.
What if you have tokens which also got some value on that wallet, you will spend transaction fee for sending those valuable token to a new wallet or just send the valueless token to new wallet?

The best way to deal with dead shitcoins is to simply ignore them
It makes absolutely no sense to say you want to send them out of your wallet, because aside from the fact that  these coins have absolutely no value, it will cost you money to send them out which is just wrong for you to do.
Ignore your shitcoins and focus on the ones that have actual value.

Create a new wallet, and send all shitcoins in that wallet, if you don't want to retrieve it, and for memory, then throw away the private key, so you can't access the wallet. If one day the price increases again, then history proves that there are coins in the wallet that cannot be taken by everyone. And this also happened to Bitcoin when the Bitcoin price was $ 0,xxx.

Agree, better ignored than we send it to another wallet. Ethereum fees are currently high and I think it is better to save ethereum than use our ethereum to transact on worthless tokens. I also have a lot of worthless tokens in my ethereum wallet and I better ignore them

Don't delete useless tokens from your wallet because they might come back to life some days, I've experienced something like that more than three times already, if the tokens are annoying you create a separate Ethereum wallet for the tokens and move them from your secondary wallet to the new wallet.

My advice is to separate the tokens instead of sending them away, dead coins or tokens do come back some times, yes it's very possible, just create a separate wallet to store junk tokens and continue living your life, sometimes the unexpected always happen and crypto space is full of the unexpected.

Why does it matter? It will do no harm. You can send it to any random wallet but you'll be needing some gas. And what's the point, you can just leave your tokens there.
It doesn't make sense. If you want a clean wallet then just go create a new one. Tokens cannot be deleted like anything in the blockchain, it is made to be that way.

I've never heard that tokens that don't have a price can be deleted, if possible it's been done before, at best just leave it or if it's been changed to a new wallet, send to random will also get a fairly large gas fee in total, just make the collection to remember that you have participated in the shitcoin project

Title: Re: Can I 'delete' useless tokens from my wallet?

I'd create a secondary wallet and name it "Trash Can", and just send all the tokens you now "hate" into it. Put the lowest fee's possible, especially if you don't plan to do any transactions for few days and let it sit there in the "Trash Can".

From time to time, check it on etherscan to see if miraculously something gained some value

There is a litter bin address of Etherscan and the useless tokens are there until someone burns it. The fee which used as a gas for ETH token transaction doesn't even worth to waste time but some charity organizations accept such tokens. Maybe it is time to move the funds to a new ETH wallet because the active ETH addresses are bombarded with dust tokens by scammers.

Lol, agree to make it a collection because at least it can still be a lesson so we can be more careful when joining a project. If you are still bothered by the presence of shitcoin in your wallet, then you can create a new wallet and move any coins or tokens you like but yes, to make a move at least you have to consider the gas fee that will be spent. For me personally, it would be better to keep them, because they are not annoying at all, compared to having to spend a lot of money on multiple transactions then I will just ignore them.

This is the recommended option if we no longer wish to save shitcoin in a "change new wallet" wallet. I don't really have a problem with shitcoin in my wallet as I can easily ignore it. Sending it to another wallet is completely unprofitable as we will incur a transaction fee. Luckily I don't have a lot of shitcoin in my wallet so I don't have to bother thinking about deleting them. Wasting time. Lol

Of course it's not a very good idea, but the OP wants it.  ;D
If the wallet the OP uses is based on MEW, of course he can create a new wallet, and leave the old wallet. The cost of creating a wallet is zero.
If indeed the wallet is from Ledger or something similar, of course it is impossible to throw it away, because of the high price. It's just that he needs to pay a fee to clean the wallet.

But for what?? You want to throw away Ethereum maybe can reach $0.5 to $1 to pay the gas fee. If you have 10 or even more coins you will throw away about $10.

I also get annoyed sometimes seeing some worthless tokens in my wallet. We cannot delete these tokens,
the best solution is to just let the token be in our wallet, because moving it will only waste withdrawal fees.
Unless the wallet you are using already supports the feature of hiding some of the tokens you choose so that
they are not visible or appear on your token list.

As you can see, those tokens are useless in your personal wallet. Do you try to ask yourself the opposite question to see if it makes sense?
With tokens, you can transfer it to any wallet on the same platform you want and this will cost you a transaction fee. I find that almost all of our personal wallets contain such tokens, but i never get annoyed or loved by those nonsense.

Yeah this is true. Any shitcoin that is listed on ANY exchange (and this includes uniswap and FD) should see some price increase once ETH starts going up like it did in 2017.

Indeed. You will be wasting gas fees when you try to transfer your funds to another wallet, so I suggest it's better to ignore all of your funds and stay in your wallet because it is very unlikely for shitcoins to have a good price. I don't advise you to delete them or send them to other addresses, you may find that they are useful in the future when the development of the coin project continues, if you send them to another address, you will only lose fees and the presence of these coins in your wallet does not cost any risk, so you should not hurry and hold them because you do not know what will happen tomorrow.

I can understand maybe how Op is having expectation of bull from those shit tokens in that wallet. And your suggestion of using the hide button is good because of the future, to avoid total regret because if deleted, it is gone when you forget the decimal, erc20 name etc, that is worst.

But talking about deleting, if the token was in exchange and got delisted or on some aspect where the token was deleted already from an exchange maybe because the shit token is worthless, the team abandon the project for long and no longer active in all social media, I think you can delete because the project has been scammed or exit.

In any case, keeping them in your wallet would be a good thought cause consider the possibility that their developers will proceed with the project 5-10 years at this point. that would make the price of their dead token pump and imagine a scenario where their price became like the other top altcoins in the market. furthermore, you have a colossal measure of it. that would make you a mogul quickly. In the event that you are irritated by taking a gander at the gigantic list of poop coins in your wallet, better to make another one and safeguarded that old wallet possibly you can simply open it once at regular intervals to check

Lol, yeah sure you can do that, but don't forget you'll need to pay for gas fees for the transaction ,so why bother wasting your gas fess on those dead tokens, you didn't specify the wallet you are using, and it's kinda of different for different wallets, but there's definitely a way to delete all those dead ERC20 tokens,I had a few on my wallet back then, I got tired of seeing them not adding anything to my portfolio :D, so I cleared them off, if you asked how to do it in trust wallet I could have helped you out.

Even I have many shitcoins in my wallet, I don't want to delete them since I got them in my bounty campaigns. Even they are worthless, I want to keep them all. I think you cannot delete the tokens in your wallet but you can send it to other addresses. Because if you delete or remove the tokens, it may affect the circulation supply of the tokens you hold. If I were you, I will stock it in my wallet forever even they are useless.

Guys, that's not a problem. At a minimum, you can just ignore these coins, but if they really annoy you, you can have a separate wallet and transfer everything more or less worthwhile there. After all, we do not know, maybe the garbage project will one day resurrect and bring a good income ;)

Op shouldn't forget the private key. In the future, this wallet could be valuable. Like kick tokens types of airdrop OP will receive.

Yes, it's better to ignore shitcoins that are in your wallet, it won't affect anything, in some cases shitcoins suddenly have a price, so it's better to keep them than throw them away.
if it bothers you better send it to a special wallet that you provide for shitcoins, but make sure you still keep your wallet private key, this is just in case one of these coins suddenly becomes valuable.

I believe he is talking about Meta Maska or MEW or some other wallet interface. I found a tutorial here about how to hide the tokens you don't want to see anymore. https://github.com/MetaMask/metamask-extension/pull/4482
Thanks you so much. To share such content with us. I didn't even know it. Metamask or myethwallet has a lot of coin / token that will never work. There are many dead projects that have gone through scams. Tokens like this are really annoying. There is currently a lot of fee to transfer from myethwallet. So it is best to keep it hidden.

I will not advise you to delete those useless tokens you said are still in your wallet just because you don't need them again for their devalue, things will not remain like that for ever with that token just try to keep them safe for future purpose. There are many ways you can make use of them in your wallet without wasting them for nothing which will later make you regret for such decision. All you have to do, to  stop see the tokens not to display in your wallet, is to set your display wallet. I think, it will really help you to keep them away for you not to see them display in your wallet.

If the worthless tokens are annoying you then create new eth address and move them from your secondary wallet address into the new primary wallet address, problem solved, I don't think sending the worthless tokens to other unknown address that you have to recovery key or access to is a good idea because shitcoins can become something someday.

Looks like shit token and death token have my wallet. I received all token from participate in bounty program. Still now i didn't sold yet because there has no volume and price. So we can't do anything for death coin just keep positive thinking and forget all death coin. If you gonna delete then your time wasting more so better follow your work.

It was so many scams of cryptocurrency projects in 2017 and in 2018 that many people stop to trust them. After the end of ICO when developers collected a necessary sum of money they stopped development and just took the money and leave the project. That is why so many investors was disappointed.

Yes, it is true. in fact, the only way to get rid of it is to send a token that doesn't have that price to another wallet, and that requires gas or a fee to send it. however, you should not ignore coins that have no price in your wallet. I currently have quite a number of such tokens in my wallet.

Majority of the coins won't recover, some are already abandoned I guess so I don't blame you if you plan to delete them off but you can't get rid of the tokens unless you sent them away to address you have to control over, but there is a thin chance that the token can someday brings reasonable value because it has happened in the past before so the choice is yours.

I would advice against deleting coins from your wallet. Sure you could ask the admin to remove them for you, but why? They don't hurt you and might even be used again in the future. We never know if an old project might get pushed again. And maybe your coins become a lot more worth again in the future. So if you really need to get rid of them, just try to sell them or as them to be removed.

I would have love it if you can drop the names of this so called shitcoins on here, some might not be totally out of business yet, there are shitcoins in the past that became profitable out of nowhere, no one saw it coming so better keep them in your wallet or create new address if you are using mutiwallet like Coinomi or trust wallet and store the shitcoins in the new address.

Well in my opinion, you can simply reorganize your wallets and you can send them to one wallet that can serve as a repository of these old tokens from old projects that never kicked off. It is still good to collect these even though these are worthless. Maybe one day you can simply be able to sell these if someone wants to have like a collection and you can have some extra cash you can use. For now, just keep them and collect more and more as you ride this crypto ride.

Why would you want to delete them? Create a new wallet and move all more or less valuable tokens there. It will be much safer than trying to get rid of the old ones, because in this case you will have to pay a fee for the shipment of garbage.
Plus, who knows where you left your data while earning all this junk, creating a new wallet will probably have a beneficial effect on your safety.

Title: Re: Can I 'delete' useless tokens from my wallet?

You don't actually need to delete those tokens, let it stay there and you should move the tokens that are valuable and can pump someday into another wallet for you to be able to see the changes easily, also you can check and monitor if it is rising in price or not. So that the tokens that has no value stays in your old wallet, but still you need to save that wallet, maybe for future purposes.

I think it makes no sense to remove unnecessary or useless tokens from the wallet that have no value.  After a while, useless tokens will appear in your wallet again and you will only waste Gas for the transfer.

Nobody will receive tokens that are worthless on Etherdelta's exchange, even if someone receives them in large quantities, obviously the asking price will be very cheap and the person who sells the token will also lose the gas costs he has to spend.

No you can't all coins are using blockchains and that will keep all the records in publi by just using blockchain viewer like for eth network, the etherscan.io. BTW, why you want to delete your coins? Are these shitcoins that has no value and are from those scam projects? If you do not want those coins or not wanting to see those coins then create a new wallet. It is more easier not to see them visibly by creating new wallet rather than sending it to someone else wallet.

The token that is added by custom you can delete them from your wallet by own. But, the token is showing by default that will remain there forever. But, why you need to delete them. Sometimes the token will grow from 0 to many dollars if the market grows sharply. So, don't bother about the dead coin.

You can just send the token to any address but of course you will only spend the gas fees you have to throw the token out of your wallet, I think it's better to just leave the junk token to remain in the wallet because it is not something that disturbs but if you are already fed up with seeing these junk token, why not create a new wallet address, and it's easier and also without having to spend the gas we have?

That would be one of the easiest way to get rid of them since some of those shitcoins cannot be sold and looking for an exchange to sell them would take too much time. You can just ignore those Shitcoins since it would also be fine to leave those coins there so that you can keep track of Old Tokens that might have a same name with incoming new projects.

Yes, I think it is possible but you don't need to send it to a random address. You are just wasting some of your money for transaction fees. There will be nothing wrong if you will keep it for a while, it is not a burden right? Just keep it in your wallet maybe someday it may have a high value just like any other coins though these shit coins can really be annoying if it will not have any value in the future.

You can delete tokens from your wallet without getting rid of the tokens completely, just delete the smart contracts and add again when you need the tokens to appear again, or send the tokens from your wallet to another crypto wallet

Just know that shitcoins can still bring good value in future, I don't advice you to send the tokens to unknown address

What admin are you talking about that can delete token on his wallet? There is no way that a token can be deleted  on his wallet unless the creator coded the token to self destruct via smart contract. But technically there is no delete function on crypto wallet for the shit token unless he sends it to blackhole address just like what the typical crypto project do b when burning token.

This topic should be locked since the OP already received enough answer for his question.

I also want to get rid of these shitcoins. But I think about gas fees.

If you want to remove these dead tokens just send them to burning address.

Burning Addresses

Ethereum : 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dead

Tron Blackhole Address: TLsV52sRDL79HXGGm9yzwKibb6BeruhUzy

Binance Chain: bnb1ultyhpw2p2ktvr68swz56570lgj2rdsadq3ym2

To burn or remove tokens you need to pay gas fees. Now gas fee is higher on Ethereum Network. So why to pay gas fees for those shitcoins. It's better to untick tokens from you Wallet.

You can send your token to this ethereum address 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dead
usually I use this address to delete tokens but I prefer not to burn my tokens because at any time the project can be continued and has a very good price, because there are some projects that seem to be a scam but are resumed with a better team

Obviously you can send it to someone's address. But you need to pay the transaction fee for doing so. Are you willing to spend some of your money, to get rid of some worthless tokens? That suggestion itself is self-contradictory. I don't understand the issue in having a large number of tokens in the wallet. It may cause some discomfort, but I would say that I would bear this discomfort rather than wasting my hard earned coins in moving them.
Can you explain to me what's the difference in keeping useless tokens in your wallet and removing them? Are there any pros and cons? I personally have lots of tokens which are already dead but I still keep them in my wallet cuz why not ;D it's good to remember from time to time about certain tokens, how you acquired them, what your mistakes were (for e.g why did not sell them when the projects was still running etc.). Like, is there a limit how many tokens my wallet can hold? I think not.

Just let it be and you can ignore it anyway by hiding it if you are using trust wallet features included in the app. I have many shitcoins in my wallet though and i don't even bother removing it because for me it is already part of my crypto journey as a memorabilia or remembrance of my hardwork to get that tokens on airdrops or bounties. If you transfer it to random addresses is also fine but it will cost gas fees. So better don't mind and just let it be.
