Government have many roles to play to the citizens at least providing food items that will enable people in society to aim a living,because currently many people are suffering and government fails to take care of people's needs,what is the responsibilities of government in the society is to provide the needs of the mass and make good infrastructure for their people for a better living.
In many countries were their is a numerous disease attacking individual's government fails to respond to help their citizens why,what is the functions of government when their is lack of food in living habitat of higher and lower organisms in a societies.

governments usually have to first do their governmental duties, the problem with carrying about food, is that it is going to be abused.

therefore in capitalism, the government relies on automatic market mechanism, people produce food that is being bought by the contractors of the government,

since food industry is a very safe business, there is usually plenty of food for most people. because its a low risk industry and people tend to all want to have a lot of own children to protect themselves therefore they want to work and produce on basis of life.

in america there is today the problem that people simply don't want to work or produce food on their own and live in the cities demanding stuff from private enterpreneuers or "authorities"

usually if there is an extreme automation of food production, people usually still produce food but live in poverty and try to get industry/construction city jobs. as private farming only keeps them alive but doesn't make them wealthy of give them a lot of liquidity.

In America we are self-governing. This means that when the idiots in Formal Government won't let us grow our food, to turn our backs on them, and get out there and make food happen like it always has.

It also means to use government system processes to take down those Formal Government idiots that won't let us do our self-governing.

In Nigeria here to be frank with you government did play their roles but it wasn't enough. Masses are all angry with the whole thing our leaders are doing. We just wish and hope God's interventions this pandemic will come and go so I believe.

the entire region there is unable to incorporate their population growth into the economy and then end up with countless wars.

Nigeria is your typical third world country which has been caught in the information era without the necessary jump through the mass agriculture and industrial era. In this regard, India was quite lucky to have a govt that practiced a mixed economy. They focussed on agriculture and a little bit on industry.
Industry got left behind but sufficient investment was made for bare minimum self-reliance in industry to enable things like a nuclear programme, infrastructure building, self-sufficiency in food and electricity, transportation and a space programme. Seeing how African economies that got independent around the same time as India, I feel relief that the Indian govts of past did not fuck up as bad as them guys.

Nigeria, honestly is strange. I mean the people there were intelligent and shrewd enough to be pulling off scams back in the time of yahoo messenger. Then they seem to be fucked enough to support an organisation that literally means "western education is sinful". I once met a beautiful, intelligent girl from Nigeria. Together we spent a fine day. From what i heard from her, it was quite clear that the Nigerian men are a major problem.

you see that power is suppose to be given to credible one's not any person.
Before you seek for God intervention how long have you tried to helpe your self.
I recapitulate by saying government have vital roles to play in society.
And leaders are suppose to show good example before being voted into power.

Of course, the state must support the population. If it cannot provide money, then food packages can be provided to each family.
Citizens of any country pay taxes, and if the government cannot transfer part of the money to the fund just in case, then is the point in such a government?
