Title: Don't give up on the Noob you encounter on the forum, help them BUIDL.
Post by: CryptopreneurBrainboss on June 17, 2020, 06:31:18 AM
Forgive me for my topic title but it seems I couldn't find a better title, so decide to go with the very first idea that comes to mind then remembered this experience (qouted below) like it happened yesterday.

Your Activity dropped from 336 to 170, which means you've done some serious housekeeping. And you've dropped the bold font! I'm glad to see some people are willing to change their spam, so keep going like this :)

For the Christian on the forum, the famous qoute by Jesus "Go and sin no more" anything he encountered a sinner was exactly how I viewed this encountered by @LoyceV. Without this encounter probably I would had still been one of the less productive users of the forum. But since that day, I noticed my progression on the forum, from having just 10 airdropped smerits to earning my first 100 smerits, ranking up to full member and now I'm having over 1000 smerits plus just achieve the Legendary rank status.

Just had to celebrate myself because it isn't easy and I couldn't have done it without the support of all those that found my work worthy of encouragement. Guess it's no longer a news that what ever you set your mind to achieving, you can do it whether it's on the forum or in the real world. This thread should serve as an encouragement to the noobs on the forum, not to give up on themselves and be willing to accept correction and improve and also to the higher ranked/experience members not to give up on helping the new member so we can keep on having a progressive forum.

Thanks
I'm Legendary 🙏

Just want to pause and bring the awareness of those that'll be viewing this thread to the initiative by @Royse777 called Project Covid-19 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5243099), and this initiative is open to suggestions, support etc that'll help make it become a success in regards to exposure, funding through sponsorship or donations etc.

I have carried out some tasks myself;
Project Covid-19: Supply to 50 (Now 70) families in different community in Nigeria, Images of beneficiaries (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5252309.0).

Project Covid-19: Supply to 20 families in my community, Images of beneficiaries (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5248842)

Congrats on becoming a legendary. I am also doing the same as you. I was registered in the forum 2017. But that time I was doing some shit posts because didn't had full knowledge. I left the forum on 2018 because of some personal and professional life issues. Last month I came back here and I saw my old posts. You know what I found that maximum of my post that time were shit post. So, I decided to repair my profile by deleting the posts. And I'm trying to delete some posts ans my posts increase. Thanks for the motivation.

Also, take love for what you're doing for the COVID-19 project. It's really impressive and I appreciate it. Hope this COVID-19 situation go away soon. Good luck on the project.

Congratulations @BrainBoss, that only proves that anyone who have a rough past/activity could change in an instant as long you work out on it. Have also same experienced and changed it for the better let me share this good quote and my favorite:

"You will never change your life until you change something you do daily." - Mike Murdoch

Dont pushed to hard mate and you deserved a break too, we all appreciate your cotnributions here in forum and in your own country as supporting those who are in need.

This thread should serve as an encouragement to the noobs on the forum, not to give up on themselves and be willing to accept correction and improve and also to the higher ranked/experience members not to give up on helping the new member so we can keep on having a progressive forum.
Since this post served as encouragement. I think it much appropriate to Beginners and Help section so most newbies can see it and learn something from this achievement post.

Another quality member ranking up to the top. Congrats! Most of the time the newbies that are coming here have no idea what this place is, they just think it's a regular forum and you can do whatever you want to make money. But if they spend some time here then they can realize how amazing this place is (well some of them not all). Besides the money making machine that this is, you find so many other things like how the things were in the very beginning, how different project developed. This place is full of history and still has the satoshi's spirit. I didn't get all those things before I was a Member, found so many amazing people ( and IAs too).
So no, I haven't given up on the newbies. Prefer to give then advice to change for good before we take more serious actions, except for the bots, spammers and the scammers.

Congrats on reaching legendary rank, you've had the needed merits for a while now, and now have the required activity.
This forum is an amazing community if one would stick around long enough to find out. It's a repository of knowledge on crypto currency as well as other niche areas and the discussions I engage on here has improved me in real life, I'm still a newbie in many aspects, but I have learnt a lot during my time on the forum.

Just as other members shouldn't give up on noobs, new members should also not give up on the forum. Some join in, aiming for quick rewards with minimal effort but on realizing that such no longer exists they quit.
How you got introduced to the forum doesn't really matter, a lot of users had a wrong idea of the forum when registering but they stick around and are now reputable members.
With a desire to learn and effort anyone can grow on the forum.

Sometimes I think, why many members, especially 'beginners' who always want to do and fall into "slump". maybe, everyone has a bend reason, a life that makes many people forget what is very important on the Bitcointalk forum, many make mistakes that can make them give up.

Which is very important for 'beginners' and most importantly 'knowledge' knowing all the rules that are running now, it can avoid problems, without problems, it can help the 'beginner' want to stay consistent, be motivated to achieve goals and will come out here with victory.

how I viewed this encountered by @LoyceV.
And there I thought I was even being a tad unfriendly :P I'm glad you took it the right way and turned into a contributing forum member, but that really is a rare thing.

Congratulations on your early Legendary rank!

From me you deserved a higher rank if there is any existing rank for the forum.

Congratulations on achieving Legendary rank, I think it's well-deserved. Everyone started with nothing or lesser knowledge but with continuously changing and improving, you can accomplish things you did not expect you could achieve. And I also liked how you view what LoyceV said to you in a good way and used it to thrive more. Usually, when newbies get criticized or something, they get discouraged to give their best, but for you, you manage to reach that rank because of your effort.

I also think that most of us went from getting criticized with the way we post before but eventually improved, so it's not a reason to give up because, for me, that's also one thing you will learn here in the forum aside from technical knowledge. We will also learn to accept corrections and to change it to improve ourselves.

You are really doing something good there. You are acting like a role-model and helping your community. Keep it up! All the best to you my friend!

Baie geluk CryptopreneurBrainboss. Are those the right words to congratulate you in your local language ?  :D

Your achievements so far can be proof that all forum members who can contribute will have the opportunity to achieve higher rankings. 1000 merit as one of the requirement is not something that is easy to obtain, there are efforts and struggles that must be carried out continuously to make us as contributors and it must be a normal thing not a forced thing.

So far I am still quite optimistic and keep moving to get the rank at the end of 2020, although I know that it is very difficult to get but I have to try and of course I need everyones help and support. 125 merit so far is proof that I have the potential to produce more if I can improve the quality of each post that I make. Once again, congratulation you are entitled to get this rank quickly or a total of 1081 days since you registered an account.

Congratulations for your ranks up and your achievements!!! You have proved that everything is possible if anyone have a good intention. You have build yourself by your contribution and proved again newbies could build themselves as well if they have strong beliefs. That's why I always said, "Today's newbie is tomorrow Legendary". Anyway, I am on the way of Legendary. Hope newbies will motivate themselves when they will read this thread. Thanks for your contribution especially helping to hopeless people during Covid-19. Keep it up.

This kind of threads has to be there more often. Its more or less motivation to work enthusiastically in this forum. BitcoinTalk is grandest one and over the time if you don't log in someday then you feel like something is missing.  ;D
It's great to come here and keep learning and spreading the knowledge at the same time. You sometimes do get into fight with some members but everyone does have their own opinion.

Okay, coming to the topic, in the process you do get recognition once you settle for good cause, improvement of this forum and sharing authentic stuff around here. I have seen many users who has gotten quick smerits (literally thousands) in very short period, geniuses one!!

Keep it up man. Upgrade is always the best!

Most users will here bar a few exceptional users will look back at their post history, and feel their skin crawl from the amount that they didn't know, and the amount of "noobness" that they displayed. However, its a vital part of learning. I know the general consensus around here seems to be "This has been asked a thousand times", and although they do have a point I for one appreciate someone taking the time to learn in most cases an entirely different concept to traditional currencies. I know the argument could be to search for the answer, but this is another vital bit of learning, and generally comes after the noobish questions that we've all asked in one point of our lives.

Personally, I would like to see the forum become a little more newbie friendly not just from a community point of view, but also a forum point of view. I know there was discussions about an interactive quiz during sign up which could prove beneficial to those signing up without any idea how all of this works.

Lets also consider that searching a forum such as SMF through its own interface (ignore search engines) can be difficult, especially when this forum software is particularly outdated compared to more popular sites these days such as Reddit.

You guess that right although I'm not the original creator, seen CZ (Binance CEO) used it numerous times especially when he's trying to sell the Binance goals lol.

Thanks to all the congratulating message as it was awesome seeing this amount of well wishes from the community although, the journey just began as their are other goals I'm interested completing both on and off the forum and hopefully I will do them in the soonest time possible.

PS: You need a laptop now :-P

I really do but not in a rush as I just don't want any laptop but the one of my dreams and I'm very positive I'll get that soon. Started saving towards it.

a well-deserved accomplishment! I admire that you admit the mistake you made in the past and use it as a marker to better yourself and grow from it. it is rare to see people admit and own up from the mistake they made let alone use it as an inspiration in order to grow as an individual and help others to take inspiration from it.

Today marks my 1 year and 2 months since the day I created the account on the forum. I've received 64 merits until now and my wish for the last 5 months and half is 36 more merits in order to be able to wear my own avatar.

to be able to wear my own avatar.
I'm (again) taking theymos' post slightly out of context:
if they have decent posts, by all means, give them the 250 or 500 merit that they need to rank-up.
Enjoy your avatar!

I don't have time to merit all your individual posts, but they aren't bad, you don't look like a spammer, so you shouldn't be held back by the Merit system.
Just Merit source things, my source sMerit keeps coming back :P
