Title: [GUIDE] Getting rid of most of the EMF exposure from your home!
Post by: 20kevin20 on June 23, 2020, 06:14:20 PM
I'll give you one simple challenge that takes 2 days and requires no efforts:

- Night 1: Sleep with your phone powered on and connected to WiFi. Keep it next to you while you sleep. Remember how you feel after you wake up. Did you wake up a few times during the night? How long did you sleep to feel rested?
- Night 2: Sleep with your phone powered off, at least 2 meters (6.5ft) away from you. If possible, take out the battery as well or, if you want to go even further with the challenge, take a little bit of tinfoil and wrap the phone in it. Optional: turn off the Wi-Fi router as well.

How did you feel after the first sleep vs the second?

INTRODUCTION

Radiations are everywhere around us. They cannot be completely avoided unless you turn your house/room into a Faraday cage, but have you ever bothered lowering down the amount of radiation in your house? Or, at least.. in your bedroom?

I have, and it's safe to say it's an interesting journey to go for. Learning new stuff is fun, and if what you learn is even helpful.. why not?! Let's begin by enumerating some of the typical electronic stuff a modern room/house might have nowadays:

- Computer/laptop
--- Keyboard & mouse
--- Wi-Fi/Bluetooth adapter
- Wi-Fi router
--- Wi-Fi repeater
- Smartphone(s)
--- Wireless headsets
--- Smartwatches/Smartbands
- TV
--- Wireless soundbars
- Microwave
- Gaming consoles

Some houses are even placed close to cell antennas. A lot of people ignore the radiation coming from their devices because we're usually told a WiFi or Bluetooth device doesn't throw radiation at you enough to be considered hazardous.

Wireless is fun and convenient. You don't have to wire around your entire house and drill holes in walls or have an annoying headset cable dangling around while you do some sport.

But have you ever wondered what happens if you combine the radiation coming from a smartphone, a computer & bluetooth peripherals, a Wi-Fi router & repeaters, a smartwatch, a TV with wireless speakers, a gaming console and a wireless headset all powered on and in use at the same time? What if you have kids and the amount of devices multiplies?

This is the scary part. I personally love wireless stuff, but if I can avoid potentially hazardous amounts of radiation, I will prefer to do so.

Let's take the list above, each row .. one by one:

1.0 COMPUTER/LAPTOP

Most laptop and computer radiation exposure comes from either Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or other wireless services (such as NFC). Therefore, the best ways you can limit the radiation exposure is:
  • If you want to connect to the internet, do so using Ethernet cables. Don't have enough cables? You can always get an Ethernet Switch, which is cheap and very useful.
  • To better avoid the exposure, you can do a manual teardown of your laptop or computer and remove Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or other wireless modules.
  • When you need to connect to your phone or a headset, do so using the old wired method: use a cable!
  • Avoid putting laptops on your lap. Especially if they're connected to Wi-Fi.
  • Try to stay as far away from the display as possible while you can still comfortably read the contents of it. This also helps with the eye strain issues from prolonged use of computers.

1.1 KEYBOARD & MOUSE

Keyboards and mouses are obviously needed for computers and laptops, as long as it's not a touchscreen tablet. Anyways, if you want to avoid EMF exposure, there are two options:
  • Try avoiding wireless ones. Wireless is also a potential privacy/security compromise, so it's even better if you're both trying to limit your exposure to radiations and improving your privacy and security.
  • If you want to go to the extremes (wired keyboards and mouses emit very low, insignificant amounts of EMF), there are lower emitting peripherals you can buy. For example, mechanical keyboards or those that do not contain any other "extra" features such as backlights.

1.2 WI-FI/BLUETOOTH ADAPTER

There are some very understandable reasons you might often use a wireless adapter for your device. For example, you have removed Wi-Fi or Bluetooth modules and need to connect to a Starbucks local Wi-Fi.

But if you can use Ethernet (and USB for Bluetooth replacement) cables instead of these adapters, you will lower your exposure to the EMF emitted by wireless antennas.

2.0 WI-FI ROUTER

In most households, Wi-Fi routers are kept powered on literally 24/7. It's possible that you wake up at 4 o' clock needing to check new TikToks in the middle of the night. But having a Wi-Fi router powered on constantly means EMFs being emitted constantly.

Therefore, there are a few ways you can solve this issue:
  • Buy a Wi-Fi Router Guard (https://www.amazon.com/Router-Guard-Large-WiFi/dp/B07MXD75TR). This blocks a significant part of the EMFs coming from your router without blocking the Wi-Fi signals. That means you can lower down your exposure while also having the possibility to connect to the router!
  • Replace the router with wired connections and only activate mobile data connections for your phone when you need them.

2.1 WI-FI REPEATER

Using Wi-Fi repeaters is similar to having a router (or more) in your home. To replace these, the best thing you can do is:
  • Purchase one that can be placed inside a Wi-Fi Router Guard or buy instead a router that could act as a Wi-Fi extender
  • Replace repeaters/extenders with wired connections.

3.0 SMARTPHONE(S)

Years ago, when someone told me how good of a sleep you get with a phone powered off, I laughed. Months ago however, I used to receive a ton of messages at night that annoyed me so I thought turning off my phone would be the best way to stop this while I sleep.

I used to sleep 9-12 hours a night and always woke up very tired, sometimes with headaches too. However, after 6 hours, I had like the best sleep in years with my phone off.

I initially did not notice this, but after a few nights with my phone off I returned to my old habit: sleeping with the phone next to me, turned on. That's when I found out that it's the phone that made me so tired after half a day of sleep. Therefore, this is how you can stop the exposure to EMFs coming from phones:

  • When you don't want any EMF to be emitted by the phone at all, if possible, just remove the case and take the battery out. This might reset the date & time however.
  • Very cheap method of blocking all EMFs: wrap your phone in a few layers of tinfoil. Try calling it from another number to check whether you wrapped it correctly (make sure you leave no holes when you wrap the phone).
  • Buy a Faraday Phone Pouch/Bag (https://www.amazon.com/Blocking-ONEVER-Protection-Anti-Tracking-Anti-Spying/dp/B07BQM75MH/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=phone+faraday+bag&qid=1592934082&sr=8-2). It doesn't look bad at all and has two pockets: the front one if you'd like to protect your phone from damage while also receiving calls & texts and the fabric pocket, which blocks any signal the phone receives/emits. This includes Wi-Fi, texts, calls, Bluetooth etc.

3.1 WIRELESS HEADSETS

This one is simple: wireless is great and all, but if you want to limit EMF exposure, use wired headsets like most of us used to years ago. Wires may be annoying, but remember one thing: they're called wireless headsets for a reason, so any EMF is emitted/received very close to your skull!

3.2 SMARTWATCHES/SMARTBANDS

To be honest, besides receiving BitcoinTalk notification messages, I have always considered these quite useless. A combination of a smartwatch/smartband and a wireless headset may help as you could text and call from your wrist, but it defeats the purpose of this thread.

Moreover, having a smartwatch at your wrist all the time means having a microphone (possibly even a camera) constantly there for any hacker to make use of. Because it doesn't sit in your pocket like your phone does, it gets even worse - the sounds are clear at almost any time of the day!

Well, these watches and bands do emit radiation as well - they're connected to your phone constantly through NFC or Bluetooth, right? Replacing them with the good ol' Casio (or Rolex, if you afford one!) is the best thing you can do.

4.0 TV

TVs. Lately, Smart TVs became the norm. Little do people know that these are privacy concerns. It's been found that these Smart TVs could let some third parties know what you like to watch on YouTube, what kind of stuff you have on USB disks you insert and so on!

Moreover, most Smart TVs are Wi-Fi capable. Some of them are even Bluetooth capable as well! Both of these equal radiations. Well, how can you fix this?

  • Buy a non-smart TV and a Blu-Ray Player with apps you like that doesn't have wireless functions. That means you could turn your TV into a smart one only when you choose to that only connects to the internet when that Ethernet cable is plugged in!

4.1 WIRELESS SOUNDBARS

I don't think there's much to say here. Wireless? EMFs. Just replace those with super cool wired speakers!

5.0 MICROWAVE

There may be some cases where microwaves are irreplaceable. Well, whenever you get the opportunity to, cook or warm up your food using older methods such as ovens and stoves! Microwaves do not only emit a scary amount of EMFs but could also be killing some of the nutrients from your food.

6.0 GAMING CONSOLES

Gaming consoles such as PS4 and Xbox One do emit EMFs too. As far as you probably know, the controllers are wireless on both of them. How can we fix that? (note: the following two tutorials will void your console's warranty)

  • Xbox One: Remove the Wi-Fi module which also includes the wireless components for connecting your controllers to the console. This can be easily done by following the iFixit (https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Xbox+One+Wi-Fi+Board+Replacement/36779) tutorial for replacing the Wi-Fi Board. Takes around 15-20 minutes.
Note: after removing the Wi-Fi Board, you will have to connect your controllers using a microUSB cable and internet connections will still be available through Ethernet.
  • PlayStation 4 (NOTE: I have not tried this with PS4!! Do this at your own risk!): Just like with the Xbox One, you could remove the Wi-Fi Antenna using iFixit's (https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/PlayStation+4+Wi-Fi+Antenna+Replacement/43304) tutorial.

BONUS: 7.0 ALEXA

A little monster that some people place inside every single room of their house. Again, they may be convenient for a lot of stuff, but the fact that they're permanently listening to what happens around really does scare me. Whether it does or does not communicate what it hears to Jeff's servers, I don't care. But besides being a privacy concern, it also does emit EMFs as it uses Wi-Fi.

Replacements? Echo? No! Just throw 'em monsters in the trash! :D

If you liked this thread, please let me know and I'll think of some other similar threads to write. If I missed something or there's anything I said wrong, don't hesitate to write a reply below. I am not a doctor or an expert in this kind of stuff, but I have learned all of this on my own along the way so I thought it'd be nice to share it with you all. :)

Stop breeding panic from scratch. Absolutely any electronics emit, no matter wired or wireless, but this emission absolutely doesn't concern us.

Such devices have been used for more than half a century, during which time they and their influence have been closely studied so that if these devices had any negative effect on the body, it would simply not have hit the shelves of stores. I have a degree in nanoelectronics, so I know what I'm talking about.

In addition, we live in a time when companies are judged for every sneeze (remember the Dieselgate), and for such a massive negative impact on the health of billions of people, they would have long been erased.

You can try using a shungite plate for phone (https://shungite-c60.com/product-category/shungite-plate-cell-phone/) - it's pretty helpful against EMF and harmful frequencies; you can also try some other products from shungite, this mineral is considered one of the basic protection means against EMF.

Interesting post. I actually focused more on the part about Smart Phones ... that's what I normally have around me regularly, mostly for the internet.

Well, I'm occasionally concerned about the emf issue, so I had it as a habit to always turn off most of the wireless features, and also the internet (whenever I'm done using it). I also do it to preserve the phone battery charges. Ofcourse, It's possible that the phone still emitting the waves/ray even after doing this things , so I resort to faith and healthy living with good dose of  happiness and love. .
I noticed that it's mostly the bad foods that make me feel tired/sick during sleep and after waking up from sleep. Whenever I consume enough of healthy or good foods/things at the right way I normally feel better after sleep.

Will hopeful try your suggested experiment on sleeping with/without protected smartphone

Interesting topic but buried for very long time. Actually I have my smartphone near me whenever I go to sleep because when I get a call ita very easy to pick it up. Yes, the sleeping hours has been changed a lot from the past to now but we are taking it as evolution of modern day lifestyle even though its not really great for our health.

Why hasn't anyone suggested wearing a tin foil hat yet? That's what I do.
