Title: {Warning}: Defi and Web3 based applications - attacks is on the rise
Post by: Baofeng on June 24, 2020, 11:07:27 PM
Recently, we have seen a lot of hype surrounding DEFI and Web3 based applications. And as a result we have seen a lot of new wave of phishing, from MakerDao to Uniswap and others. You can also read my post early [Scam]: Upgrade Sai to Multi-Collateral Dai (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5219002.0) Which is probably the first hint on what's going to come in the next coming months.

So I would like just to raise some warnings and awareness specially for beginners here. And why this web3 apps is very dangerous? It will ask for your privatekey directly on the interface.

And if you are familiar with the Scam Accusations (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0) boards, there are users already reporting this kind of trick.

Sample UI that you might see:

Similar themes and UI, probably change the background base on the legit websites. So again, just be cautious. Highly targets are:

MakerDao
Uniswap
Fulcrum

DeFi have become one of the hottest trends and topics in the space of recent. I knew the rise of DeFi projects will also give rise to hackers and scammers. We saw a similar rise when ICOs were hot and trendy in 2017.  The attack on popular DeFi apps is similar to the one we saw on MyEtherWallet in 2018. My advice is to apply extreme caution whenever it comes to anything that poses a thread to account security – I've never been a fan of using private keys in web apps.  As Defi becomes more popular, we'll see more attacks like this in the coming months.

Yes it's one of the hottest craze right now, other calling it the catalyst for altcoin bull run so obviously, hackers and cyber actors are going to target it because of the tons of money flowing in this Defi. So it is a must to check everything because once they get your info, (private key and wallet and email), it will be stolen in an instant.
