Title: Help with funds not showing up in wallet
Post by: Theogony on June 25, 2020, 06:19:22 PM
Hey sorry if this has been answered several times already. But I made a Standard wallet a month ago and transfer BCH to my electrum wallet, which has a legacy address(starting with 1). The transaction was completed using a Cash address(starting with q) and according to blockchair it went through. But I still do not see the funds in my electrum wallet which only shows my legacy address. This has been my first time using any crypto so I am confused as to what went wrong. Thanks

You should be using Electron Cash (https://electroncash.org/) and not Electrum which works exclusively with the Bitcoin blockchain. Electron Cash is a fork of Electrum, so you will be able to recreate your wallet using the same seed.

Bitcoin Cash [BCH] is not Bitcoin [BTC], I think this is where the confusion comes from and it's quite common for first time users.

export your private keys from your  Bitcoin wallet (Electrum) and import them into a Bitcoin Cash wallet (Electron Cash which is a fork of Electrum for Bitcoin Cash.)

please note that The account who distributes the Electron Cash ( sign Electron Cash binaries) remain anonymous. it is dangerous to use this wallet unless you have reviewed its codes.
Install that wallet on a separate device and use Bestchange.com to find best exchange rate from BCH to BTC, then you can keep your currencies safely in Electrum wallet.

Roger Ver, the scam artist strikes again.

@Theogony, don't ever visit bitcoin.com again.  It's a scammer's website where they try to convince unsuspecting neophytes that Bitcoin Cash is the "real bitcoin."  There's only one bitcoin, don't be fooled.  Like other's have already mentioned, you can use the Electrum fork, Electron Cash to access your funds.  Good luck.
