Title: When their topic is moved to Off-topic
Post by: LeGaulois on July 16, 2020, 09:51:04 PM
It's always funny to see that once their topic is moved from Beginners & Help to the off-topic board (most of the time the topics moderated are moved there), nobody is interested anymore to participate in the discussion they take part in. All participants leave suddenly including @OP.

This is my gues. :D

-Because the off-topic board belongs to the not counted post count to those members who wear signature paid.

-They are lack of interest due to the topic is off-topic.

-The off-topic board is full of spam they dont, no one will visit there.

Just my assumption and my opinion! my two cents.

Off-topic is no-man land and some people stay out from there as if they don't want to step on some mine and explode.
That can be changed if (or when) someone creates signature campaign that want people to post ONLY in Off-topic land  ;D
It would be fun to see many zombie undead topics.

Off-topic meaning
Quote
Off topic is a section for any other topics that do not fit into any other sub, however, it is not a subforum for account farmers to lazily spam their way through the ranks and doing so will no longer be tolerated. If you are caught spamming unsubstantial posts just to farm or rank up your account your account(s) will be immediately permabanned without warning.

a post  moved to off topic will have been by the moderator measured cautiously as not connected to the board it was. But since the OP did not intentionally make an off topic post or did the replies. The post lives out a fizzled life.

Boards for example
+ Serious discussion: I digest thought -good thoughts- from posts on serious discussion, a post here can have small replies, -signature is put under a rock-
+Alt discussion: busy board, don't know the accurate amount of post and reply but this boards see a junk of it, -bounty/signature has a green pass- quality of post, -red to me-

Interest percentage
The post--- 25%
The post on - signature accepted board--- 70%
Signature not acceptable--- 5%

In any event of choice/reason make post or reply eloquent

No doubt that's the real reason.

I've got the Off-Topic section on ignore, so if one of my threads was moved there I'd probably assume it was deleted or something.  When I search for threads I've started, it only shows the ones in the sections I don't have on ignore if I'm not mistaken--and I've done that several times in the past.  But in any case, I haven't noticed this phenomenon that OP's referring to but I'll take him at his word that it's a real thing.

And yeah, Off-Topic is a cesspool of garbage (at least it was the last time I visited it), so I probably wouldn't want to try to keep a discussion alive there.

Maybe the change in the emotion is due to merits being less distributed on Off-topic.

LoL  :D :D I couldn't stop laughing when I saw your post  ;D ;D It is so accurate!
nobody is interested anymore to participate in the discussion they take part in. All participants leave suddenly including @OP.
Rarely do I see anyone interested in topics in the Off-topic section, it could be a reason. I have been on a few topics, then it was moved to Off-topic, I turned on notifications on that topic, it seems that when it was moved, the notifications were gone (I am not sure but in my memory, I didn't receive any notifications from there). It could be a reason.
Also, for an objective reason, the posts there won't be included in signature campaigns, so users don't want to waste their time, even though there are some really fun topics. Like this one, you can move it on Off-topice section for testing  :D

I don't visit Off topic section mainly because it is not counted as paid posts (I'm pretty sure the others got the same reason), I'm not gonna lie about that ;D.  Doing it will just compromise my daily post quota so I totally refuse.

But aside from that, I don't want to go there also because of the "WTH Questions" like this one (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4760137.0[/url). I'd rather post on Serious Discussion than spending 10 to 15 min. of my time engaging with not so interesting topics there.

May be they don't like to click one more link, also possible that most bouties don't count posts in off topic board.

It should be taken into account that some people (especially beginners) and those who do not understand how to use the forum do not understand at all that it is possible to move a thread and that they can easily see all their posts/threads by click on Profile tab. Instead of continuing the discussion in the board where the thread was moved, they open a new thread to ask what happened to the old one.

Of course most aren’t interested in getting there because it’s not a paid board, but let’s be honest, this is a forum about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general - and if we’re here for that, then it just doesn’t make too much sense to waste time on pretty trivial things. Far from anyone can say that their start on this forum didn't start right there, so I can say that a good part of my posts were in Off-topic and Micro Earnings.

Few signature spammers care about merit. Most of the people who are looking to 'farm up merit' are non-established members that think that ranking up is a much easier process than what it actually is. Thus, they think about merit much more than they think about their 'current earnings' in their 'signature campaign job'. What they do care about is post counts, especially in areas where they will count, though.

The only reason for this is that most of the signature campaigns do not pay for posts in off-topic and therefore when a topic is moved to ""off-topic" section,  people stop responding on it. This also indicates a fact that people are active in discussions only because they are being paid for that. Once the topic is moved in a non-paid section, the discussion stops.

I also don't see a reason why the Signature campaigns do not pay in the off-topic posts. I think the off-topic posts are much more constructive and meaning full then the other boards like bitcoin discussion or altcoins discussions. My campaigns allows posting in all section of the forum and this should be followed by all the campaigns. Sometime an interesting and meaning discussion is stopped only because the topic is moved to off topic.

Low volume, which also contributes to a feedback loop. The lack of incentivisation to post in the Off-topic sections because of signature campaigns further fueled its lack of activity, thereby creating more incentive to stop paying for posts in the section.

I think the off-topic posts are much more constructive and meaning full then the other boards like bitcoin discussion or altcoins discussions.
This may be true, but you're comparing a piece of shit with another piece of shit. At the end of the day, none of those boards offer anything of particular value.

You just made a clear and simple illustration of may people's actions when they have some situations like this 😂✌️. It's in a case of:  (what can I say) or  (I probably don't know what to say again) lol.

I see, mostly yes, that's true.  The discussion is like over and it is likley seen that the thread moved to off topic means the end of the thread itself. :D
Well, actually, if the topic made on the thread is interesting, it should be still a chance to make certain discussions and comment to the thread. But of course, it will be done if someone is visiting the off-topic section.

And I am sure that the most reason why they are not interested again to give replies or quotes again on the thread is because off-topic section is mostly not counted to the signature requirements. Many members here prefer to only give comments on the sections that are counted for their signature requirements. But of curse, it is not all members. There are also many members that also make different choices by making thread, commenting on threads although they ar enot counted for the reason that the thread is good enough for discussion and also information.
