Cryptos are stored in the blockchain network, not in online or offline and the wallets are just the interactive tool for blockchain network and it comes in different features. But wallets which gives you private key are the safest one.

For better understanding about wallets please read the sticky threads on beginners section.

@Aqib you understand the difference already, meaning you know about private keys and recovery seeds, why creating this post? Paper wallet are the safest on my own point of view because it's total offline wallet and also hardware wallet are very good too.

Any wallet that gives you your private keys or Mnemonic seed are the safest, some popular wallets like free wallet, coinbase and others don't give users their private keys as big as they are, these are example of online wallets to me, I use trust wallet and copay wallet

As said 1000 times before, the safest is the cold storage if one knows how to properly set it up and properly use it. On the same line are the correctly and safely generated paper wallets.
Then there are the hardware wallets. Then the properly installed proper wallets. Then the non-custodial web wallets (since you still own your private key). Then the custodial web wallets (which are just accounts on websites).

But as said, OP should start with reading more (including threads like https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1631151.0 ) before attempting to give incorrectly written "advises".

Every crypto currency has its own wallet ready to download they are running from different chain so you need to also have different wallet for every crypto currency you own.

Exchange is not secured to stored your crypto so better suggestions for multiple crypto currency wallet is use ledger .

Crypto coins are safely stored in blockchain networks. Storing in an exchange is dangerous because it is prone to be hacked. Maybe it is good only  to store coins on an exchange that is popular in the market and you must enrolled your account on 2FA just to make your account secure.

You need to be careful when to set up paper wallet, if you don't set up properly... you can lost all of your coins.

Storing in an exchange is dangerous because it is prone to be hacked. Maybe it is good only  to store coins on an exchange that is popular in the market and you must enrolled your account on 2FA just to make your account secure.
You're contradict your own statement. 2FA, email verification, strong password, special question etc doesn't make your coins safe if you put in exchanges after got hacked. This only make your account secure on exchanges, not for hackers. Store your coins on an exchanges is bad idea, not your keys... not your coins.

Every crypto currency has its own wallet ready to download they are running from different chain so you need to also have different wallet for every crypto currency you own.
That's not really accurate, you can use multi-cryptocurrency wallet (e.g. Exodus) so you can have multiple cryptocurrency in single wallet only

The safest is hardware wallet (e.g. trezor [2], ledger [3])

just write down your privkey to a paper and never make it connected to online otherwise it still prone against hacking but the existing desktop wallet are already safe enough that the hacking case only occur 1 between millions of users maybe. If you never did anything phishy to your computer or to your privatekey the existing wallet like desktop is pretty much enough security wise

Me as well! I'm aware that blockchain wallet can be a target for hackers. However, I believe in their security system. Some people choose to store their capital in a different method, though, I prefer to use blockchain wallet. Furthermore, it will not be a big deal if you don't store your capital in a place for too long!

At least state your needs. Do you need a mobile wallet? Can you afford a HW? Or you just need to store your coins and then hold it for years?

There's no one solution for everyone. Somebody might not have a computer but can afford a smartphone, or they have a second smartphone that has not been used for years but still run properly. The latter might not need to buy any HW and can just use the second phone as a semi cold-wallet if necessary.

These devices store your coins in a very safe space, and they support a wide verity of cryptocurrencies
I think the best one for beginners is : Ledger

Paper wallets are the most secured, if you plan to lock your coins away for a very long time please consider using paper wallet and keep your recovery seed safe, that's all, using online wallets like mobile wallets constantly is more risky and more exposure than paper wallet

YOu can also use another wallet like imtoken, exodus and many more.

I recommend using a hardware wallet, if it is for long term storage. But if it's only for the short term, online wallets are great too and I recommend Trustwallet.

At least it's good you have some bit of knowledge on some basic wallets and how they function.  That's a basic place to start.  But if you are a newbie investor, you need to know more about some safest wallets to use.  App wallets are safe to some extent.  For big investors, they make use of hard wallets.

The safety depends largely on how you use the wallet. Any form of wallet that has no control to your private keys are safer from third party risks. Paper wallet maybe safe from third parties but keeping the paper safe and keeping privacy during printing and claiming your coins back would have a degree of risks. Similar are the risks with hardware wallets. Online wallets can be safer for a person who uses the coins often as they have multiple verification system but your funds would be at the mercy of third party.

I think the safest cryptowallet are those offline wallets. You can have peace on it when you know that your funds are away from getting hack orbeing phished out because it is offline.

In online wallets I consider Myethereum wallet as good as well as metamask which another feature of myethereum wallet wherein it is secured. However, the best thing to do to secure wallet is to provide a two way factor in accessing wallets or funds. This is an added feature where one could manage to notify when someone had made an access to your wallet and wanted to transfer funds.

Most of the wallets online can be considered as safe wallet because they have some sort of security features that noone can obtain unless you give to someone, wallets have what you called, paraphrase, seeds or private keys that make them invulnerable to any kind of intrusion.

As long as you're the one holding the private key then it is one of the safest, OP.
Avoid online wallets as much as possible unless you're using it to cash out to fiat money so that you can use to pay to the merchants not accepting Bitcoin.

Well that's right, as long as you are holding private key it's a good first line security, though it's still unsafe

as there's still possibilities that hackers can breach it and emptied your balance.

Quote
Desktop wallets are kinda safe if you're not that much of web explorer, but keep in mind that even the webcams of desktops get hacked so I suggest you'll use it when it's the only thing or option you have.

Desktop wallet with private keys is far more safer as you can build more security for your assets, you can add
additional feature to prevent hackers to penetrate to your balance.

You can use any wallet from other members' recommendations, but that will depend on how you can save your asset safely. But I recommend you to buy ledger or trezor, and you must save it in the place that only you will know. If you have the best wallet, but you don't know how to treat the wallet, then there is a chance your wallet be stolen by other people, especially with people or someone that visit your home coincidentally.

The safest cryptocurrency wallet is hard wallet, no doubt. But hard wallet is not free, you need to buy it.
We can use some less secure wallet than hard wallet such as mobile wallet, for example electrum, or pc wallet but you need big space for blockchain database.

I think if you want to use a hardware wallet, you should choose a wallet like Trezor or Ledger Nano S because this is the safest choice for investors when participating in this market. In addition, you can also use some wallets that are being used by a lot of people such as Trust Wallet, Guarda, Coinbase Wallet because these are the 3 most commonly used wallets in this market. Of course, there will be security risks, but losing money will be very unlikely.

The problem on holding your private key was you can actually be hacked once your computer was infected by virus or you paste your private to a fake/rigged wallet app which is the common scenario why people become a victim of hackers.

I believe the safest wallet depends on people preferences or perspective.
>Offline wallet for user with advance knowledge about computer security.
>Hardware wallet for user who have a good security in the house against theft
>Online wallet for user that using crypto for hobby only such as payment for low amount.

I recommend laminated paper wallet for people who wants to save there life time savings. No one will gonna interest on it even theft for as long as you will change it’s appearance that it will looks like a paper only. I remember 1 item of @Ognasty called bitpic which is a portrait with sealed private key on it. That is a cool idea because will gonna suspect that you are hiding huge amount of money there and there’s no way theft will be interested on stealing picture frame.

If you only want to store Crypto, then you should choose an offline wallet like Ledger or Trezor, but if you want to do daily trading with your Crypto, So choose a large exchange like Binance, because they are very responsible if something happens to your assets there.

If you think an offline wallet will give you more security then I don't think that's fully true. Unwanted events can happen anytime. Your paper can be lost. So it's actually up to you. If you are careful enough then your wallet will be safe. But hardware can provide the best security and it has very little chance to be hacked. So whatever wallet you choose you need to be more careful first.
Indeed, hardware wallets provide us a better security than other wallets, because we ourselves control the private key, not the Exchanger or application provider. I also using Trezor for a long time and I am very comfortable with it. But I also keep a little my assets on the Exchange, as my day trading.

Security must always prepare itself. It can be done in different ways. But I think any exchange and any private wallet is open.In that case you have to give yourself security.Such as 2FA and Personal Protection Password and Secret Key, these should be very secure. In the case of Etherium, security can be ensured by using meta masks.

It all depends on what type of wallet you need.

1. Hardware Wallet is the safest you can go with Trezor wallet or Ledger wallet.
2. Mobile wallets: Enjin wallet and Trust wallet are one the safest IMO.
3. Web wallet: Right now I am using MATH wallet as my web wallet simply because it's really easy to use and has loads of chain integrated.
4. Desktop Wallet

Very nice points here, both hardware wallets and software wallets have their own pros and cons, there is risk attached to both. For long term hold of coins, hardware wallet will be better since they are more secure. Online wallets on the other hand needs typing or copy/paste of private keys, and people get hacked if there is a Spyware installed to steal funds. This is the more reason why anyone using online wallets should never use third party keyboards, since some are developed by scammers and they get access to anything copied to clipboard.

I've seen users get into details on fact that funds are not held in wallet, but in blockchain, so I won't go into that.
Imo the safest wallet is paper wallet, because its physically has no access to online.
If we're talking about hot wallets - the most important things are being able to know your private keys, seed phrase, preferably use ios over android as its probably more secured

I agree that buying a ledger or a trezor would be the best way to keep your coins safe, we are talking about the cutting edge technology that would be the highest end of security, if you think that could be hacked that means everything else could be hacked as well. However I have been using blockchain.com for years now (blockchain.info if you remember it) and I could tell you that they are as legit as it gets as well, I haven't had any troubles with them for the past 8 years and I do not think I will start now.

Not saying they are the safest but they are safe enough that unless you have huge amount of money there to worth the hack, people will not really try to hack you since it is too hard and if you want to achieve something so hard as hacking it, you would want a lot of money, not couple thousand dollars.

1. Hardware wallets
2. Mobile wallets
3. Desktop wallets
4. Paper wallets

All these wallets have one thing in common and that's Private keys and Recovery seed, it means you have to keep your keys safe one way or the other, if someone get access to your hardware wallet keys the coins are gone.

You're right! Every method of storing has risks. Therefore, there is no safest way to store our money. There is several methods, though, I think it's suitable for each different person with different intentions. I prefer using blockchain wallet. I'm aware that it can be hacked, though, I think the same as you. Hackers will not target in something that too small. Furthermore, I don't have the habit to store my money in one place for too long!

I don't know how your funds are still safe if you use coinbase only. Its rather more safe to use at least a pair of non custodial online wallet and a cold storage/properly set up paper wallet.
But Coinbase is neither of these, so imo your way of holding crypto is not an option for me.
I'd rather recommend crypto newcomers to buy cold storage right away or if you want to test out crypto with small amount of money it would be more convenient to use safe online one.
My personal choices are coinomi, trust, exodus or fancier but greener ones ownr, electrum.
But at the end of the day its not a recommendation, you do own research and that is the only way to do it right.

If you hold popular coins, there are already many platforms that can be used to hold coins. However if you only hold Ethereum tokens, I think MEW is the best. If you hold Bitcoin, Blockchain.com is the right choice, if you use the Bitcoin Core wallet of course you need to sync all the time. If you hold Tron tokens, then TronLink is a place you can use to hold Tron tokens. It will be safer and the cost is also very low. I think if you have any tokens or coins for you to hold, then keep them in an official wallet. It's safer and more profitable. Another hope that using the official platform is that you will get a share if the Airdrop is launched at any time. ;D

With a higher possibilities that your investment can be hack once you left it stored from exchange wallets, it's better to have a good hardware wallet especially if you have huge amounts of assets.
Investing with good and reputable hardware wallet to ensure your securities, you have your private keys and you can place or use
it with a much safer devices.

There are several types of wallets, we have the Web wallet, paper wallet, android and other phone wallets. In my opinion, the safest wallet is the paper wallet. This wallet  is stored offline and requires a great deal of effort to unlock. That explains why people barely use the paper wallet.

In my experience, hardware wallets like Ledger, Trezor, keepkey etc. are the most secure. because I use Trezor as the main wallet to store my crypto assets. For some other wallets that are installed on the device and it is even more economical and even free to install Electrum. Electrum has good security to make your personal wallet and of course free. However, it should be noted, the device you are using must be safe and protected from malware, ransomware or other malicious viruses.

From my understanding of wallets, you can get your wallet to safety, if you're in charge of your private key and mnemonic phrase. Every wallet that gives you this option can be said to be safe. But the safety is limited to your ability to keep your private keys safe. There are several wallet that gives us access to our private keys, the Web wallet, mobile wallet, paper wallet and every other wallet can be compromised when the wrong person gets access to the right information.

The safest cryptocurrency wallet, for now, is only the hardware wallet that is Ledger and Trezor. Now, these wallets are also coming with their upgraded version. From Ledger one new variant is now out that is Ledger Nano X which can install up to 100 crypto wallets at a time. You also use it on the go by your mobile connecting via Bluetooth. IF you can not afford to purchase these wallets which are required almost $200 then you can use MEW mobile wallet for the storing of the ERC20 coin.

Any wallet that you keep the private key that means is safe. For bitcoin I suggest electrum, for ethereum and token is MEW, for multicurrensy is trustwallet. This is free and I think enough for newbie. But if you have more money hardware wallet is so recommended

Hi bro, i think better if you also send the link about the wallet, not just a message. Not all people expert here
Electrum https://electrum.org/
MEW https://www.myetherwallet.com/
Trustwallet https://trustwallet.com

Yes, many people think open official website but they open phishing sites. I think bookmark is a simple solution for this

Blockchain.info already changed their name into blcockahin.com and it is not really a wallet which gives complete control over the stored funds even if they give private keys. And it is one of the wallet with full of errors even I had experienced in the past so better move to trust wallet for multiple crypto storage which is far better than blockchain but less safer than a hardware wallet.

The wallet to use in storing your coin depends on the type of coin, that is, if it is Ethereum based tokens, Tron or other blockchain based tokens. Also, there are other coins with their own blockchain, so before you choose a wallet to store your coins first know from the team the right one to use. However, there are multi-currency wallets nowadays which has made the holding of different coins possible wherein they support both Ethereum based tokens and other tokens. An example of this wallet is Trust wallet, and it is safe and user-friendly.

I think generally these 2 cold wallets are considered the safest in this market and each wallet has its own strengths. I prefer to use Ledger Nano S because this wallet supports a lot of big coins and regularly new security updates make this wallet more popular than Trezor. Anyway, if you have used it, you do not need to worry about losing money because the security of cold wallets is highly reliable.

All online wallets in my opinion are safe, I have also used an online wallet for a long time and have never experienced any problems, a secure wallet all depends on you in managing it and maintaining a password or private key.

There's always a way for you to still keep your investment safe, maintaining secure password  and keeping
your private key away from the eyes of the hackers.
You can add google authenticator  and any available like email securities, it's jut up to you if you continue to
use online wallets, just be well aware.
There are known available wallet that you can choose, make it a habit to  check and research so you understand
all the features and how to secure things more appropriately.

The safest wallet is the wallet that has been released by the official team.
Usually i downloads the wallet from their github. You can download the released version, or you can download the sources and compile it yourself. Using 3rd party wallet is not the safest one i guess.

The safest wallet are the non custodial wallets or the oen you hold the private keys. With respect to which kind of blockchain you are using. I suggest that use only wallet thet the blockchain recommend. For example ethereum network. They prefer such wallet of myetherwallet, jaxx, parity. This will be the best suitable. Multiple wallet are also good but be aware that some of them are not good and dangerous cause it could compromise your wallet.

That's a good thing you know that storing cryptos in exchange is risky, not only to hacking but also to sudden collapse of the exchange.

If you are looking for the best wallet that are safe and secure, I recommend that you should use a hardware wallet. It is most likely one of the best wallets to store your cryptos with lesser risk than using other wallets.

It’s not just only about making use of the best wallets, what many people never talk about is what they are meant to do, the procedures they are meant to follow in order to be safe when making use of these cryptocurrency wallets. I have seen people say that paper wallets are the best wallets and I have also seen those that say hardware is the best, but that doesn’t mean that these wallets don’t have their cons, no there are ways that they are also bad.

If you are making use of these wallets and you’re not careful , you can lose your money at any time, so you have to be very careful when making use of these wallets. I have been making use of Blockchain wallet which is a mobile wallet for years now, since 2015 and I have never had issues with it. It works perfectly, but I see people who complain and say they were hacked and all that, and they blame Blockchain. I have also seen people complaining able it Trezor.

It's better to choose an alternative wallet from the big companies.

Until now I am very comfortable using trustwallet, there you can store many types of coins. Whether it is safe or not depends on how we treat it, because in crypto there is only one way to break into crypto wallets, namely with a private key, while we keep the private key safe and no one knows it, our assets will be safe regardless of the wallet.

Yes, trustwallet is efficient, simple and of course is safe where we can store many kinds of coins, I also agree this is great cryptocurrency wallets.

For altcoins, hardware wallets are the best because you can store multiple cryptos in a same device and can keep the wallet offline unless you are going to make a transaction.Ledger and Trezor are the best ever hardware wallets which itself have different models so pick the best one depends on which cryptos are going to be stored in it.

Hardwares wallet are safe, but they are not free and they worth the price, paper wallet is the safest so far and the best in my opinion, but you've got to careful because it has it's own downside also, you can misplace your private key and that is gonna be a big blow if such happens, hardware wallet and paper wallet are still more preferable than mobile wallet in my opinion
Hardware wallet and paper wallet are indeed safe and secured, that is why if you have a huge amount of funds keeping it in these kind of wallets is the safest place to store them, but mobile wallets are more convenient and ease to use because everyday we used our phones. The only problem with using mobile wallets is that they are prone in hacking, that is why if we have our own mobile wallet we should avoid storing it a huge amount of funds.

Risk is present in every where all the time yet people take risk because no risk, no gain. If you only keep your coin to wallet, you have less possibility to earn. So, to earn more you need to choose a exchange platform and should engage in trade. Yet if you want to keep your coin only to a wallet, I suggest you to choose 'Myetherwallet'.

But if it's a wallet provided by a third party, or an app / site provider then I think it's useless if we keep the private key, Because they must know our private key. Better not to use an online wallet if you want to store your Crypto. Use an offline wallet like Trezor or Ledger.

So, electrum should do the job for bitcoin wallet and for Ethereum we can use the official one or maybe the MEW wallet can do the job. MEW is a better choice according to me as you don't have to download the blockchain for using the wallet whereas in the official wallet you have to download the entire blockchain at the time of first use, in later uses you just have to synchronize the blockchain to transact. But, online wallets should be the choice for those who can't have a backup of their software wallet as if you loose your wallet file then everything is over and you can't recover the address in which your funds were present.

Why should ethereum, cryptocurrency covers a lot of coins. The wallet needed is a wallet that can manage multiple coins and not the ethereum platform alone.
Not the most secure Myetherwallet wallet, there are many other wallets that are more recommended. For example, hardware wallets that have a better level of security and mobile wallets. and what determines wallet security is how you can store your private key wallet properly without being hacked by other people.

If you are talking about the safest cryptocurrency wallet then it is non-other than the hardware wallet Trezor and Ledger. Earlier the Trezor was the number one wallet in terms of security and storage capacity. But, now the coming of the Ledger Nano X the upgraded version of the Nano S is very good and also works wirelessly via Bluetooth. You can connect it on-the-go by a mobile device. Again talking about the security it is very good and the storage capacity will allow you for the storing of up to 100 crypto. The price is quite high at approx. $210. But, if you are reluctant to spend this much of money you can use MEW android or IOS wallet which also provide you the features like the hardware wallet.

In addition, Blokchain.info makes it possible to use bitcoin for storing, and access to the wallet is due to confirmation via email, phone number, two-factor authentication, and other options, which significantly increases the security of my cryptocurrency funds.

No cryptocurrency wallet is safe but depends on individual uncharge of the wallet. We heard thousands of complaints from different cryptocurrency holders raging from the trezor, Nano among the hardware wallets that their cryptocurrency has been stollen without their consent or without them disclosing their private keys or passphrase to anyone. Don't be fool by thinking having these wallets is a guarantee to your safety, you have to protect your assets either with hardware wallets or other wallets. Till date, am still using web wallets and my assets are safe.

I don't think there is a really 100% safe cryptocurrency wallet because the security of the wallet will depends on the users too.
The beginner user or newcomer of crypto may getting hacked even if they use the safest wallet, only because the user's error such as : getting phished, scammed by social engineering, wrong pasting address, etc, etc.
and the opposite, the advanced user that understand how to secure their wallet will having more secure wallet, even if they only use simple wallet such myetherwallet.

hardware wallets such as the Ledger Nano X (https://www.ledger.com/) are among the safest wallets. in addition, there are also several other safest wallets such as the MEW web wallet (MyethereumWallet) and mobile wallet (Trustwallet). You can choose several of the wallet options above yourself.

The easiest one to be is myetherwallet but there is also a lot of phishing happening in there . So it's risky if you don't use a hardware wallet.that's my opinion.

Back in 2018-2019 I've seen topics here working people from MEW webpage copycats. As this wallet is basically and online wallet, risk of opening  a fake page or having a malware on a device is relatively high. I would not count this as a safest wallet. People can easily confuse https://www.myetherwallet.com/ with something like http://www.myetherwalletet.com/ (WARNING!).

Would not trust a mobile wallet either. It is safe as long as mobile is in your hand. Every time you leave your phone somewhere you are at risk.

As long as you get to keep the private key it is safe. I prefer offlne wallets like ledger, trezor, or paper wallets. As long as your private key and seed is safe, you don't have to worry about your funds and it's security. I never leave my funds online especially if it is huge.

Yes, and in order not to get a phishing link on myetherwallet, then you have to use a bookmark on the original myetherwallet link or you save it in your notes so you don't get the wrong link when visiting myetherwallet.

The cryptocurrency wallet can't be said to be the safest when the user gives out a private information to a corrupt third party, most users don't give out their private information intensional, in several cases its done with the aid of bots and spy applications which are downloaded into the users device and this could give access to the hacker to take advantage of the users device.

You can also use MEW add one and it will prevent the phishing link to steal your wallet. I have been using MEW addon and the only problem that appears if when i was opening the link related to the telegram group and it's always blocking it as a suspicious link. MEW is actually safe but it's only for ethereum and token that build in ethereum platforms.

Thats true the best way to avoid phising MEW we need to bookmark the original MEW site.
Actually it has been long time that I know that have another fake MEW if we have mistake and use that phising link or a fake MEW maybe one of the coins we save in our wallet are totally gone. And not only MEW have like that there are some Cryptocurrency wallet also as the same of MEW problem.

Hardware wallet or password encrypted file with your seed or private key. And when we think about clients, then Bitcoin full node is the safest one. For Ethereum you don´t need to download full blockchain history, just use Metamask or Myetherwallet.

Safest wallet depends on the usage of your skill. A wallet that provides you private key, memoric pharase, backup and 2fa system is secure buy you have to use it safely. If have to keep all documents in a safer place where no one can stole your documents. For bitcoin, i recommend you blockchain wallet and for ERC20 tokens, you can use Metamask or Myetherwallet or both by connecting each other.

its useless to use the safest wallet in the world when a user dont know how to use it properly.

a kind of wallet that are mentioned above are the ones that are more harder to use compare to standard online wallets ( ex. a wallet that dont give you your keys )  .  so many newbies on the past lost thier keys and phrases , they lost so many coins along with that .

first of all, we need to know how many types of crypto wallet:
1). mobile wallet
2). desktop wallet
3). paper wallet
4). hot wallet
5). cold wallet

mobile wallet they are wallet where you can store your crypto assets into your mobile. they are very convenient and easy to use.
example: trust wallet, iamtoken.
desktop wallet they are the same as a mobile wallet in functionality but they are work with more features in desktop.
paper wallet paper wallet are the piece of pdf where all your wallet address and the private key is printed. which is used for the crypto transaction. they are offline wallet but you need to access there website example myetherwallet to make a transaction.
hot wallet is the wallet that is always connected to  the internet, they are easy to use but risk of hacking is always there because they are always online to sync.
cold wallet they are the wallet which is completely offline where you can store your assets securely. example ledger wallet, trezor eallet.
one cons of there wallets are they are little expensive and supports few cypto assets like btc eth ltc trx xrp and other popular cryptos. but they are most secure wallets as compare to other types of wallet

If a wallet on an exchange can be hacked then what makes your personal wallet unhackable?
Each personal or desktop wallet has their securities better than the exchange wallets. Actually, exchanges doesn't tend to be your own personal wallet as their function is to exchange your coins. You don't let your coins there for a long time and you only transfer and use them whenever you have to exchange. Why personal or desktop wallets are better is because you own your coin and you have total control for your private keys unlike in exchanges, they will not provide you with it.

There’s so many wallet to choose these days so when you mentioned trust wallet this is one of the wallet I've use for long time now. The best is not to focus in just one wallet when you have a coins to be safe. So apart from that ledger is also one to choose as the safest wallet and let us always save the private keys for the better.

I don't like metamask, remembering that in 2017 many metamask accounts were hacked to make erc20 base altcoin sending transactions
the best way and the best wallet is an official wallet like blockchains.com myetherwallet or using a power ledger for offline storage

I store almost all of my assets using MEW because I like its functionality, but I'm worried about the fact that someone can still pick up the private key to my wallet. One day I wanted to open my wallet and mis-typed all the characters from my private key, but in the end I was able to open another Ethereum wallet, which turned out to be empty. But nevertheless I was able to open another wallet with my private key where a few characters were changed. This alarmed me. After all, someone will be able to pick up, purely by chance, the private key to my wallet in the same way. I am concerned about this issue.

Every wallet there you know your keys/seed phrase is safe enough. Exodus, ownr wallet, etc. Thousands of them out there
Despite I use ownr too, non-custodial mobile wallets are less secure than cold wallets and can't be used for long-term storage big amounts in crypto.

Such a probability is one in a million, I think that you will no longer succeed in such a trick if you try to repeat it thousands of times. Maybe it was just a wallet glitch that showed you zero balances for a non-existent wallet.

Probability is less than 1 million. With enough effort, any MEW wallet can be hacked. User is protected against the hacker only with single privatekey or a single option of security. There are too many ways to steal a privatekey from a person. MEW needs at least two levels of protection (privatkey + something else, 2FA probably).

My MEW wallet was hacked once. I never posted or used privatkey to enter into the wallet. Password + json file all the time. Still someone get an access to it and withdraw all the worthy tokens...

Cryptocurrencies can be kept online or offline. If the cryptos are kept on the exchange platforms or other online platforms, it can be lost due to hacks.

So it is important to choose the best wallets that are safe and secure. Please help me in choosing the safest cryptocurrency wallets

Whether offline or online, they are still kept or stored in their respective blockchain wallets, that is, ERC 20 tokens are stored on Ethereum blockchain wallets, TRC 20 tokens are stored on Tron blockchain wallets, BEP2 are stored on Binance blockchain wallet and so on. This is why, when depositing a token on any exchange, you will be warned of depositing a wrong token as it will be lost.
Nevertheless, you are right about keeping cryptocurrencies on exchange platforms because they are never secure and the recent Kucoin hack is a clear proof of that. Also, about other online platforms, it is true as well because the creators of that online wallet or platform can easily manipulate everything.
So that brings us to personal wallets, and the best I can recommend is Trust wallet because of its advanced and user-friendly interface. Others are Imtoken, Enjin and Atomic wallet, they are also safe; remember to store your private keys or mnemonic words securely.

Never use an exchange wallet to hold your coins.

Desktop or mobile wallets like coinomi are much better but if you really want high security use a hardware wallet like ledger or trezor.

When people ask me this question I always tell them teh same thing. It's your money and you have to decide how much you want to spend on security. If you hold 500 USD in crypto spending 100 on a hardware wallet is an overkill.

The issue is that those hackers are always a step ahead. They keep innovating new procedures and statics to compromise online wallets. I agree that developers are also innovating safety measures, but we can't be certain of who is a step ahead. I was surprised when I learnt that over 150 million dollars was carted away in the kucoin hack. Its obvious that this funds were in their hot wallet which was online and the hackers gained access to move the funds.

Every wallets could be good enough to be safe if you make it safe yourself, those hackers are just most time smarter than the safest wallet you can always talk of, when men build men can break. Once they know the make up. The best thing is to keep your wallet private key so safe from any device that can reveal it in any form, and be careful of any scam project registration. Some hackers will come in the name of a good project you have supported in shape of asking you for your wallet details for you to receive your token.

The Answer to this question will vary from users to user.
From my personal experience many wallets are trusted, and if you are a day to day trader then oftenly try to convert the BTC to Fiat when necessary.
I have used many wallets, and are also impressed by many of them.
Generally i prefer keeping the coins in online wallets.
Some great wallets are BlockChain Wallet, CoinBase and Coins.ph(lowest fees).

Crypto is stored in the blockchain network and the wallet is just a third-party application.
We can consider wallet applications of large and reputable enterprises such as Coinbase, Trustwallet, Xapo, Trezor, Leger ...
We can trust the money we store to be safe because they have years of experience and a reputation in the field of cryptocurrency management.

There are a lots of crypto currency wallets available. And many people go with many wallets. But mostly go with online wallets . But online wallets are not the safest. Good hardware wallets are the best option available in the market. Nuts the problem in hardware wallet is it's not free. Its a bit costly. Bits it's highly sucure. But if you can't afford a hardware wallet I would always suggest you that always go for official wallets or official supported wallet. That's it.

Hardware wallets are considered to be the safest type of cryptocurrency wallet since the private key is stored offline, and thus it is almost impossible to get hacked. Another method is generating a bitcoin address from a wallet that does not have an internet connection. To do this, you can use the vanitygen algorithm.

Offline wallets are safer than online wallets indeed, but online wallets are usually more convenient than offline wallets.
For example online wallet like exchange wallet, you just need to open 1 account on the exchange, and you can store many coins there.
Different with offline wallet, you will need several wallets with to store different coins in each wallets.

Cryptocurrencies can be kept online or offline. If the cryptos are kept on the exchange platforms or other online platforms, it can be lost due to hacks.

So it is important to choose the best wallets that are safe and secure. Please help me in choosing the safest cryptocurrency wallets

I have used ether wallet ever since i started. In ever transaction ive made its always ether. I tried with other wallets but the goldilocks wallet for me would be ether, its easy to navigate and since ive started with it ive felt far more comfortable than to experiment with the others.

I use coinbase and I find it very convenient. One of the only wallet and exchanges I trust. Coinbase is the second biggest exchange in the crypto space, if you use Coinbase Pro then fee is very low. Coinbase is going to be the no 1 crypto trading platform where you put your trust.

Keeping asset offline is the best as you are the only one who have access to your wallet, I always make use of trust wallet and imtoken, both works well, fast and also easy to understand.

Coinbase is a known exchange but using it as a wallet which you'll be holding your assets, I don't think it's appropriate for that use.
I'll trust using Electrum than it for that purpose.

Or a single Ledger Nano S if one has a spare money to buy one.
I've seen some people holding their coins in certain exchange just because of earning a one-digit percentage of APY, while risking their security from it.
Even if it is popular exchange, you can't say that it is also popular for its security. Community support =/= Security.

I personally think the safest wallet is a hardware wallet, you can store large amounts of assets in a hardware wallet. there are other options such as the Trustwallet mobile wallet and the Myetherwallet online wallet. You can choose your own. depending on your taste.

If you want some help in choosing wallet, you have to know what will you do with the wallet.
For trading, you should using exchange wallet because you can cut the cost of transfer fee between your wallet to the exchange.
For holding, you should using offline wallet or cold wallet, so your wallet will be safer for holding in long time.

I have suggestions depending on its use, as a market observer or more or less a trader, I will save cryptocurrency on the exchange platform. Because of the ease of management. from what I see because you look from a security point of view and avoid hacking it would be better to use hardware wallets such as ledger and trezor.

We have huge lists of exchange hacks history since cryptos were created but still people go with the profits over the security of their capital.Yes there are some exchanges can cover the losses if they got hacked but not every exchange is going to do the same.

The best choice of the safest wallet is indeed a hardware wallet. But because not everyone can have it, another option is free dompe. Many crypto wallets are free to use and are definitely safe. One of them that I often use is the Trust wallet, this is the wallet I use to store crypto. And so far I have had no problems using it.
I've considered buying one hardware wallet myself, but honestly I don't see how it is way better than paper wallet which is ultimately free.
I do have hot wallets to trade on daily basis, but I use several ones for different stuff.

Well in fact it is just only my suggestion depend upon my own analysis which crypto wallet was the safest one. It is offline application and i bet this would suite from your security purposes issues of your crypto token and hope it may help you for some consideration.

I prefer Blockchain website (.com). This is the coolest service for storing and managing cryptocurrency. It differs in simplicity of work and 2-level security system. The user gets access to his wallet after opening the site of the same name. Pros include apps that are compatible with Android and iOS devices, and the ability to export encrypted keys.

The use of wallet must be tailored to the need and finances that we have. If you want to have a wallet with a good level of security then the choice is a hardware wallet. I think there are a few crypto wallet that are free but with a good level of security and so far I feel okay with them. imToken is one of the many wallet I've used and found it pretty good to try.
I think the security of the assets we have in our wallets is our responsibility as owner. Many cases of hacking and loss of crypto asset stem from users' failure to secure their wallet. A lot of people will recommend a hardware wallet if they want more security, and I believe this is the best choice for anyone.

So here, in my opinion the safest wallet is a paper wallet, because physically you don't have online access. but If we talk about hot wallets - the most important thing is to be able to know your private key, seed phrase and maybe you can use a mobile wallet like Trustwallet.

Hardware wallets and paper wallets are safe and secure, therefore if you have large funds storing them in this type of wallet is a safe place, but mobile wallets are more convenient and easy to use because every day we use our phones and I recommend them like Truswallet. besides that The most important thing about a mobile wallet is its private key, seed or phrase, if you can make it secure then you make your wallet safe too.

As far as I know all the wallets that let you sweep your private key are the safest and the other thing to note is whether the wallet is stored online or offline, if stored online then the wallet can be hacked so it isn't safe at all. Hardware wallets from the reputable sources are the safest wallets out in the market. I personally like to use vanitygen along with electrum thru which I can generate my personalised addresses and then import them in my electrum wallet with the private key.

Yes, Ledger Nano S is cheaper and it's more affordable. You can also wait for the sale which they lower the prices too much and makes it even more affordable for most people who are wanting to have a hardware wallet.
That's the truth about exchanges, security and support to its customers are two different things.

I agree and hardware wallets are not easy to use for daily spending of crypto because you have to keep a hot wallet or regular wallet for that. I am using exodus right now because it has a really good interface and feels very easy to use and has an in built exchange so I can convert my coins easily without having to deposit anywhere and don't have to pay extra fees for withdrawal and deposit since they have their own in-built exchange.

You might want to try it but since I don't want to fall in trouble please do your own research and then use it because though it is working super cool but recommending a wallet can be tricky at times. I also like blockchain.com wallet but they have only a few coins there.

Hope this thread will help me  figure out which wallet I can store my Bluzelle token, every time I wake up to hear crypto wallet or exchange been hacked it discourage me alot for me I think trust wallet is cool but I still need some professional reviews
You may use Binance to store your coins and I know it is not a very clever idea to store your coins in the exchange but that is said because exchanges are often hacked and there are many exchanges which have been hacked or did an exit scam. Now why I am recommending Binance is because they are really a established exchange and never heard of anyone having any problems with them either. There is crypt.com wallet too but i have not used it yet so I do not know how safe it is and how it works although a few colleagues of mine use it and say it is pretty good.

Since you said you only want to store Bluzelle tokens then I suggest you to down their official wallet from the official website because nothing is more safer than a core wallet for keeping the coins because you always control your keys and unless your system is hacked or infected you are very safe.

Many types of wallets are available in this crypto space. But when it's come to security the and most of the time is same. It's hardware wallets. Hardware wallets are the safest option available in the market. Very few people have hardware wallets the reason behind it is the price. You have to invest some money to buy a hardware wallet. And other most of the web or application based wallets are absolutely free. I would suggest you if you have some extra money buy a hardware wallet. I is worth investing. That's it.

If you talk about safest than I will suggest you to use Ledger Nano S, From here you can buy one https://www.ledger.com . I use blockchain wallet and nowadays most of the time i like to use Trust wallet. It's very easy to use and user friendly also. still, not faced any problem with my blockchain  and trust wallet. everything is fine. but I just use those wallets for my regular use, not for store crypto. for storing bitcoin i personally use the Electrum wallet. for erc20, I like to use myetherewallet.
Seriously mate?you trust more the Electrum than Ledger nano?do you really know what you are doing or just a random thoughts to have posts?
Ledger nano is the safest for storing your coins for long term because remember that "Not your Private ,Not your Coin" so better safe than regret it.
i did not say that electrum is not safe because it is but that i a normal wallet and we need more secure and so far only Ledger can give us now IMO.

As you mentioned storing crypto on exchanges is always a bad idea, every crypto wallet is as safe as the owner want it to be, even if you are using a hardware wallet, if you expose your private key, any hacker will gladly help you to keep your crypto safe "in his wallet tho" , but if you can keep those private key safe, trust me your crypto will be safe as well, currently I'm using trust wallet which is an online wallet, it's quite safe because no one can access the wallet without my recovery seed or phrase.

money because they are well safe in the wallet. Trust wallet is
a reliable wallet where you can keep all your coins and is well safe. Since I started using trust wallet all my altcoin is safe
and I make use of them anytime I want . I think it is a good
thing for every investors to have a good wallet like trust wallet
which is well reliable and trustworthy.

There are many Altcoins wallets that can be used and it can be said that security and security are as secure as my etherwallet and trustwallet that is the wallet I use to store the altcoins that I will receive in the bounties I participate in but for me the most secure wallet really altcoins is the trezor wallet that is the most featured in altcoins wallets and is used by investors and hold altcoins with value but this wallet is not free and the price is just majestic but it can be said if it is durable and user friendly this wallet and it is difficult for hackers to access this wallet.
indeed Trezor can be a safe wallet to use for now but the wallet you use must be purchased and cannot be obtained for free, maybe for investors or whales who have a lot of money in cryptocurrency it is very suitable but if for traders who have very limited capital is not very valuable because it requires a large upfront cost even though it provides a very high security assessment.

I think cold storage is the safest way,a more economical way is to store the wallet file on several USB sticks,or buy a Ledger wallets but this way it's a little pricey, you also could just write down your private key on paper.Anyway, even though i know cold storage is better,i still store a little bit cryptos on exchange.

I think online wallets are also safe, as long as you activate all the security features such as Code Authenticator by Phone Number and Apps (Google Authenticator). I'm sure it's very difficult to hack because have to go through 2 walls  Authenticator.

but, if your money is above millions USD, I agree with you, save it in ledger wallets and other offline wallets.

Offline wallets are the best option to save your tokens. But every wallet is safe if you never click on pushing sites and put all your private keys in the safest position. Never share the pc/Laptop or smartphone with friends even family members where you have saved the private keys.

You just need to understand that if you follow the Internet and network security, you will have enough MEW and Electrum.

If you have basic security features installed, the most important thing is to carefully monitor your own actions. You should be especially careful about messages about the possibility of incredible enrichment in the near future, as well as security notifications. Very often, scammers simulate a routine check of "suspicious activity" and ask you to dictate the code. In other cases, they can lure you into a referral program, during which you attract other investors, and as a result, you lose all your money.

With proper handling and compliance with the basic rules of working with virtual assets, each user can get a sufficient level of security. The protection of crypto assets can guarantee no less, and sometimes even more, security than funds in banks, since the level of security of digital assets depends only on you.

MEW is the best option for cryptocurrencies based on ERC-20 smart contracts.

Mycelium and Electrum both are good if you want to have a hold of your privkeys or generate and experience in-it SegWit.

Trezor and Ledger are best if you have some good amount of crypto on hands and if you can afford to buy these hardware to safeguard your coins (limited ones).

Cryptosteel is good for saving your privkeys on a paper and then keeping that paper safe in chips-type steel boxes.

You made some nice points here mate, I totally agree you, because whether you use a hardware wallet (eg. ledger) or software wallet (eg. trust wallet) , it doesn't really matter which of them you make use of, how you safe guard your seeds or private keys is what really matters, cus if you expose your private keys your crypto will definitely get stolen, and kept safe in another wallet since you failed to safeguard your private keys/seeds.

Nailed it, these wallets are the ones I use for daily and long term transactions. The hot wallet and cold wallet definitions let us separate the coins into two even if possible three wallets in order to get the best security. The worldwide sales suggest buying Nano Ledger but Keepkey and Trezor wallet sales have proven the reliability of the mentioned companies. For daily use and small transactions, I use the Jaxx wallet together with an Atomic wallet.

Many people are looking for the safest wallet but actually it depends to you on how the wallet become safe also because if you are not responsible to your wallet clicking link, fill up the form who are needed email and password and also not enable a 2fa is high risk of hacking your wallet.

If you want to chose a wallet which is safer than normal options available in thr market. I would say hardware wallets are the best option for that. Most of the people don't choose hardware wallet because you have to pay some amount for those. And in other hand normal key based web or software wallets are free. But if you prioritise safety more than costing then you should surely go for hardware wallets. But if you don't have the fund to buy a hardware wallet then I will suggest you to use official announced wallets. And keep the private key on a safe place.

1. Go for popular crypto wallets, new wallet can be dangerous
2. Keep your private keys or Mnemonic seed safe and all will be fine
3. Do not share your keys online or store them on cloud services like 4shared, the data can be breached.

I have no problem using coinomi wallet and trust wallet so you should be fine using either one of the two

^ Trezor and Ledger are very safe but have big risks, that is; missing. because of its small shape so the owner has a tendency to forget if it is not placed in a place that is easy to remember.
