Litecoin has been under the radar these days as all of the attention is on "De-Fi" apps and stablecoins. Both Bitcoin and Ethereum have enjoyed steady gains since the advent of COVID-19. But Litecoin has been often "overlooked" by many investors and traders alike. The development team has proposed a nifty privacy feature called "Mimblewimble" for the Litecoin blockchain, yet it's price is relatively the same or lower than it was before. It's quite surprising to see this since Litecoin is a scarce cryptocurrency like Bitcoin with only 84 million coins that will ever be mined. Maybe if Mimblewimble is released next year, Litecoin will perform better on the market?

Do you think 2021 will be the year of Litecoin? Will it have it a higher price by the next halving? Or will everything remain the same? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. :)

All crypto could have the possibility to gain or lose in 2021. Litecoin for an example will do. In my opinion Litecoin was not overlook because it is the projdct itself how it could get more investors. If the investors could see great in litecoin then why not? For now, I do not see any improvement for litecoin and there are only users like you OP wanting to get a hype of this coin. Well, ether has made some upgrade and see now the hype to ether to which investors are putting up their money to eth. Litecoin should exert market strategy to gain. This is how business works.

As far as I know, there's just not enough development going on in Litecoin. The developer said that development is still continued (https://invezz.com/news/2020/06/12/ltc-development-still-on-going/) but Litecoin has always been silent. I can only see Litecoin having higher price when Bitcoin pumps as almost all reputable altcoins do.

Litecoin is not a dangerous coin but has always been a cheap chest of Bitcoin, not a real necessary coin but it was very early launched and gained few attention.

indeed Litecoin has been forgotten lately and so far investors or traders have focused on Bitcoin and Ethereum. we know that Litecoin is a good coin and during this pandemic Litecoin was not an appropriate investment. I don't know why this coin doesn't get much attention from traders maybe because it's too risky. we don't know what will happen in years 2021 and it is not necessarily a good year for Litecoin because as many competitors like XRP or Chainlink.

it depends on the "Mimblewimble" feature itself. if these features are able to attract people to use LTC, while the number is limited, then a high increase is certain. it's just that, we know that the development of popular coins is also quite attractive to investors for now. well, the comparison is still 50:50. but LTC has a chance.

The LTC that I see is the oldest Altcoin among other Altcoins, from the past until now it hasn't looked good because the developer only focuses on one point and doesn't think about the next step, but it all depends on how the LTC developer provides new steps, like the one You said above, they will use the Mimblewimble feature, if so I'm sure LTC will be better in 2021, but if the developer is silent like that, it will be bad for LTC because many new Altcoins offer great features for all their investors.

I believe Mimblewimble feature may leave positive impact on Litecoin and I hope that Litecoin developers will have more development plans which they will present in near future because it's necessary for them to bring something effective, competitions are getting though and the developers of ltc wouldn't see their coin on oblivion way.

Chris Haroun says in his MBA courses, when the CEO of the company leave, then the ship begins to sink. Since Charley Lee sold all of his Litecoins, price of Litecoin lost around 80-90% of its value and I wouldn't be so sure that Litecoin will recover from this loss.

This event will add to the popularity of litecoin, but I don't think it will be anything big, LTC has always grown with the market and did not stand out.

I have a huge trust and faith to litecoin knowing how good, resilient and stable this coin for many years now and still manage to be part of the top ranked token/coin in the market. I think and looking forward that 2021 is a good year for all the cryptos and most especially litecoin token.

I don't think litecoin would have any future. They have slowly slipped out of the spotlight and are being forgotten by everyone. They once were quite popular as an alternative coin to transfer bitcoin between exchanges but there are much better options and stable coins now. They are not anymore the favorite pair for grid trading as they are just decreasing in comparison to bitcoin. With it's lead developer out from the project, it's development is nearly stagnant and miners too seem to be looking for alternatives.

as top coinmarketcap litecoin have lowest growth in this year although this year litecoin have main event halving . many people predicted after halving litecoin price will growth alot . investors look like find new opportunity from new coins they expected high return by join in IEO or ICO, i see many project rise extremely while traded in market.

Why specifically litecoin, I read many analyst making predictions about 2021 to be the year of next bull run, perhaps not only litecoin will experience an increase in price 2021 other coins will also be affected positively, although am not such a fan of ltc, I don't really see its potentials.

LTC is one of the oldest coin in the crypto market and we've seen enough how this coin has been following Btc's price trend. The Mimblewimble might be the only reason for now for LTC to make a good run in 2021, but that's not automatic, since market competition and developments from other network competitors are consistent as well.
Nevertheless, Btc will have a huge chance for a bullrun next year, might as well LTC will follow suit. So, I might say LTC will have a good price in 2021.

I do hold a few LTC but, sadly not much is happening with LTC lately. I hope that LTC will once again show us a crazy run as it did back in 2017 and 2019. LTC made lots of millionaires during those two years.

Litecoin is existed for quite long, one of the top listed altcoins in the market and we could think that there is a time for it grows. Investors still considering Litecoin for long-term investment, it actually has the gaining potentials that traders and investors must have to look into it.


Experts make this speculation as they saw the possible inclining trend due to the market surge and it was also the result of Defi projects development.

It's hard to tell if 2021 will be the years of Litecoin, I believe it will grow in time.
Ethereum has also struggled in the past two years IIRC but now it's been moving well, AFAIR, Litecoin were able to compete with Ethereum in the past in terms of price but that's how the market goes, no one stays at its ranking forever and sometimes a coin struggle but what is important is it will survive and will rise again.

Take Ethereum for example, it dropped many times between 2018 and 2019 and this year it only started at $100+ but now it's already trading at $400 and it looks like soon it will breached to $500. So it's really amazing how its moving so I believe it's also possible that Litecoin would grow at the right time as this coin also has a potential.

It is kinda sad that LTC is not making a huge increase to it's price since the past few months, unlike other cryptocurrencies like most DeFi projects it is now getting hype. But I still think there is a chance for Litecoin to increase it's price this year of 2020 and will continue to increase next year of 2021.

What potential are you talking about? a lot of promising projects have come to the market and they will destroy old coins. there are many large teams working every day for the technical development of their project. LTC hasn't shown any news for a long time. It will definitely lose

When they Changed LOGO recently i expect progress and good movement since the price moves Up that time and i am looking for continues growth.

But like every time our expectation fails us because litecoin only moves small up But falls again higher and this is frustrating for me

would not think that it will be year of Litecoin, maybe the year of next halving 2023 is better choice for a year of Litecoin, this coin is slowly sliding down from top 10 coins, and i expect that in 2021 that circle will close out and LTC will be out of top 10

Litecoin is a very top cryptocurrency and I am sure that in the future the price of Litecoin will grow and the technologies and capabilities of Litecoin are certainly constantly improving and developing, and it is possible that Litecoin will reach new heights in 2021.

investors now focus on DEFI hype which is give early investors mulitple return from initial invesment, and its supported there is no important developtment progress from litecoin developers. so these investors prefer look another opportunity from DEFI  IEO that booming now . this IEO empower increasing cryptocurrency capitalization.

LTC is a strong project, but it can not bring as much profit as new projects. now all the attention of investors is directed to DEFI projects and LTC is no longer interesting as an investment

Its really hard to tell if lightcoin will be the project of the year of 2020 or not, I guess it won't attract much of the investors money as it is too old and also not having many good ideas from the team to develop the project further, also there are very less people who talks about litecoin now as compared to the new tokens than litecoin like ethereum and even ripple is having more fan following than litecoin, so there are pretty less chances of litecoin going again to the moon, but if anyone still thinks that litecoin is still having the juice for another great pump then he should go in it and invest his money.

Litecoin is not given enough attention right now as things are more focused on DeFi. That puts Ethereum on the spotlight since many DeFi projects are built on the Ethereum blockchain.

But all this does not make Litecoin worthless or nothing but another shitcoin. Litecoin is one of the most trusted altcoins. I trust Litecoin more than the new shitcoins that look very solid due to hype which is clearly temporary.

Litecoin will remain relevant in the ripening age of cryptocurrency as it is one which could be spent without paying much on fees. This year will most probably close with LTC reaching $100.

Yup and atm we're seeing exaggerated transaction fees, which might give LTC some extra momentum, too. However, we still need to wait and see how LTC will do under the same circumstances and activity as BTC or ETH.

No, I don't think in 2021 LTC can grow, 2021 will be a year for Defi and Defi projects will dominate this market. LTC has had plenty of room for growth this year but it hasn't moved like that, the price has grown too little compared to everyone's expectations.

its right dude, litecoin team didnt release anything in this year except halving . they must do something or even  speed up their developtment to attract their investors back.

Why will investors invest in this Litecoin or any other top coins without any big announcement? Still we can remember that the last year Litecoin pump for Litecoin halving is now Bitcoin halving. Same as 2017 and 2019, next year Litecoin will pump as coinmarketcap pump. By rumors, I can't see any big announcements from Litecoin.

We are inside crypto where we can't have an accurate details in terms of supports and progress, who knows what are
behind the teams plans and how those supporters will come along and create a big impacts.


With how it looks the chance is always there for this coin, old coin that still community let see how things will

If they can get more investors upon launching their new feature then there is a big chance for Litecoin to prosper next year. But they still need to work for it, like they will
make their marketing side much stronger after launching the new feature so the investors will continue to grow.

Once the demand will grow then the price of Litecoin will surely to increase also, so what will happen to 2021 will be in the hands of Litecoin team on how they will create a better

If we take 2021 as a wholesome meal, I should like to look at it as generally a year for cryptocurrencies, all of them. I expect every crypto to have a good run in 2021 for it's a post halving year. History has proved this to be true of cryptos having great runs at such happenstance. On the flip side, I sincerely think that Litecoin isn't performing badly at the moment. It may not be surging like Bitcoin and ETH but surely it's keeping pace with the bull run.

I don't believe that 2021 wil be year of litcoin, I think it wil be yaer of new projects from USA and with coinbase listing such as Near, Polkadot, Dfinity, I believe all of them will be on Coinbase. Year fo litecoin was in 2017)

I don't think litecoin is catching up with its bitcoin brother or neighbor giant ethereum, litecoin's chart doesn't show us a strong sign of growth, even if very little good news comes out, maybe Litecoin was exhausted in this race, this track was too long and too many hurdles, it stopped litecoin's progress, the only thing I can feel from litecoin is its steady movement and its isolation from market fluctuations. My wish is also a litecoin growth in 2021 but at least I need a reason to trust now, instead of a silence on the chart.

It is hard to determine how they could attract the investor when uncle Charlie himself claimed that he sold all of his coins, as a lead developer even if he sold all of his coins it is not a great representation that could help the project if they really want to attract huge investment. Interesting aspect is that the price rallied a bit when the entire market moved upwards and hence it is a good sign that we might see the market move when we see the altcoin rally.

What is mostly responsible for a coin to boom is the development put in place by the team as well as relative pump but the same team, investors or partners. Although, sometimes, if adequate tools is not I place to disseminate information about a coin development, it may not be able to gain the love required to make it boom from the investors.

According to researcher, and with the structure on ground, that is attracting more investors to invest in litecoin, show that 2021 stable profit will flow to those who invented on litecoin.
Everything can never be the same, some will regret not invest on litecoin why some that invested will be very happy for their profit making.

i think LITecoin WILL Exit the top 10 altcoins in the Cmc just like ethereum classic after the hacking attack on its  network. recentlly, there was a third attack on the ethereum classic network. Litecoin has little or No activities to attract investors. i think it is still utilized due to majority of companies in the USA accept litecoin tokens for payment.

We don't trust new projects even though the price pump. To invest we need a high volume and liquidity pool from new projects. The litecoin volume is higher than 2018 the bullrun. As a top coin, Litecoin pump will be great next year. We haven't seen a pump since the last Halving pump. There could be an opportunity for Litecoin holders.

I can't really say why it seems litecoin has been relegated or marginalised, but I know the value hasn't been pumped for a long while. I guess it's because they lack high value investors or because the project development hasn't been consistent or perhaps the community are not carried along on the development made by the team. I really do hope that the coin gets some pumping to give it more recognition and get the community excited.

All are possible to happen in crypto as long as they can gather more investors but  we do not hold tomorrow or even the next year, all we have is just a prediction. So far i didn't see any changes or signs of improvement in litecoin.

There is no "year of litecoin", litecoin is not doing well and as long as that team is behind litecoin there will never be litecoins year, it will always have a low year after low year and will go down. You know why litecoin was second biggest coin and right now it is not?

Because it has been around for a long time and it never really improved itself, look at ethereum when it first was created it wasn't anything and right now it is this huge new awesome thing in blockchain ways and also in community as well yet at the same time it is still improving as well, look at what is going on with the ethereum 2.0 and proof of stake, that is another improvement.

Litecoin doesn't have those type of improvements so people get bored of it and just get away from it over period of time.

Litecoin needs to get rid of Charlie and basically all of the litecoin team, without doing that they will not be able to have any year at all. Do you guys remember in late 2019 or maybe early 2020, they literally had an idea of paying the team a small amount of money at the transaction fee's like the miners so that the team would be paid and they could work on litecoin to make it better with the money they get from there. That was literally litecoin team saying "pay us so we work" and that is not really cool in crypto world.

You either work to make litecoin better for free because you want to make litecoin better to begin with, or you do not work for litecoin team, that position should be filled with people who are voluntarily doing that job and not people who do it for the money.

There is every possibility because i remember how big litecoin performed even in last bull cycle and now when there are plenty of developmets and products coming up alongwith some solid partnerships i am sure ltc is warming up to surprise most of us in few months time.

I bought some LTC for $ 56 and hope to get 100% profit in the next few months. By the next halving, I want to see the price per coin around $ 150-180. And this should happen regardless of whether the Mimblewimble function is implemented. And this should happen regardless of whether the Mimblewimble feature is implemented, because LTC is very far behind other coins.

I think it is not only about litecoin but all good coins will make it big in 2021 hopefully, obviously litecoin has the potential to make new high prices alongwith other alts. Ethereum with pos algorithm coming could go completely parabolic due to big demand from big investors looking to stake eth for passive income while eth sellers will disappear from the market in anticipation of big gains due to bull run. So yes exciting bullish scenario is being built up right now.

Despite the facts, I'm hoping 2021 turns out to be a bright year for Litecoin. If developers manage to bring "Mimblewimble" on or before 2021, things might start "kicking" again. But the team would need to ramp up their marketing/promotion techniques if they want Litecoin to become an extremely popular cryptocurrency in the mainstream world. Otherwise, it won't have a future. As far as miners are concerned, they could easily leave Litecoin if prices remain the same or go all the way down the drain. We've seen how prices remained relatively the same or lower than it was before after LTC's latest halving event. This will make miners operations less profitable, resulting in an exodus to other coins on the market. As a consequence, Litecoin will become less secure and vulnerable against 51% attacks, leading many people to lose confidence in it. Let's hope it doesn't turn out that way in the future, as Litecoin sees the light at the end of the tunnel. Just my opinion :)

The good thing was litecoin is still able to sustain on top 10 CMC even there was a bunch of defi coins have already released in the market. Litecoin should be on the 8 place of CMC consider polkadot has already entered the top coins too. People are still using litecoin as an alternative payment solution for the major coin like bitcoin or ethereum.

I'm not sure litecoin will see strong growth in 2021. Not because of the new updates but litecoin's technology overshadowed by bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Currently, ethereum is increasing in value as DEFI projects are continually being created and DEX exchanges are active. Bitcoin gets more attention for its easing policies from economic institutions such as the SEC and national governments. DEFI projects are attracting huge amounts of money and delivering better returns.

You might wake up tomorrow and the price is steady going up. The price went up in 2017 and 2018 and it was heavily trending. Even till now people are still talking about it and if you check lots crypto currency websites like Coindesk , Cointelegraph, CCN, and many of them they are always pointing out Litecoin as one of the best coins to invest. The market can fluctuate to any direction at any time, so it’s best that you just invest in it that it’s at a low price.

I see that in 2021 LTC there is no good news anymore, maybe the next movement only depends on the bitcoin price movement which will be the reference for bitcoin price movements, you can see the price movement which is always the same as bitcoin. So it is very likely that the price of litecoin will increase in 2021 because there is a bull run that occurs in bitcoin, especially with DeFi support which will also have a good effect.

Good point. Crypto is known to behave in strange and bizarre ways, so anything can happen with Litecoin in the future. I'm hoping that the new "Mimblewimble" privacy feature would boost LTC's price on the market within the short term. For the long term, developers will need to keep adding new features to the Blockchain in order to make it attractive to people in the mainstream world. Litecoin is considered to be an altcoin that's close to Bitcoin in every way. With a battle-tested blockchain network, it's often more secure than newer altcoins on the market. The max supply of 84 million coins makes LTC similar to Bitcoin in terms of scarcity. A deflationary model, should make LTC more valuable over time. Based on these facts, I think LTC is very undervalued right now.

By 2021, Litecoin's price could go all the way to the moon or remain stagnant on the crypto market. There doesn't seem to be much interest into LTC, as all of the attention is on "De-Fi" and stablecoins. We might have to wait a little longer until LTC experiences renewed interest in the mainstream world. I believe that by the end of 2021, LTC would've reached a price of $100 (USD) per coin. That is, if LTC follows Bitcoin's uptrend in price on the market. Otherwise, everything will remain most likely the same as it is right now. Just my opinion :)
