Nice catch on this one--I don't know where some of you find these scam adverts. And not only wouldn't FB do a presale, they wouldn't be doing any such thing from a website like LibraGlobalCoin.io. That's a pretty obvious giveaway that this is complete BS.Speaking of Libra, I haven't heard anything about the project in a few months at least. Is Facebook still going ahead with it or what? That's not meant to spark an off-topic discussion; I'm just curious, because there was so much hype around it that fizzled out very quickly. Title: Re: [Scam]: Fake Libra coin Post by: Yaunfitda on August 29, 2020, 04:32:12 AM It is also interesting to see that the fake website is coming from Malaysia? Weird.
And yes, this is a good catch, haven't seen Libra being used by scammers since the project has died down. As usual, reported this to: https://safebrowsing.google.com/safebrowsing/report_phish/?hl=en @The Pharmacist - I guess they need to shift focus, we all know that US and specially EU has put a big pressure on Facebook and we could conclude that it was a failure. Title: Re: [Scam]: Fake Libra coin Post by: Upgrade00 on August 29, 2020, 04:38:56 AM Good catch @OP.
Speaking of Libra, I haven't heard anything about the project in a few months at least. Is Facebook still going ahead with it or what? That's not meant to spark an off-topic discussion; I'm just curious, because there was so much hype around it that fizzled out very quickly. I also haven't heard much about it for a while now, it's possible very much has not been happening on the promotion end as they have been facing regulation issues (https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.ft.com/content/ef650f9a-f052-11e9-ad1e-4367d8281195) since 2019. Libra recently appointed a former General Counsel of the U.S department of Homeland security as their chief legal officer - link (https://libra.org/en-US/updates/chief-legal-officer-announcement/). This could indicate that they are still facing huge legal issues and need a prominent figure in their defense, this is the most recent of a number of prominent appointments. It's possible the project is still being well developed, but most of the hype has certainly cooled down. Another issue Libra might face is more Central Banks are looking to create their own CBDC, which would serve the purpose Libra was created for within those countries. |
