Satoshi Nakamoto has done a great job in bitcoin invention, his idea is what many of us are celebrating and enjoying today and we are grateful to have such a great idea, we have all believed that by the decentralized nature of bitcoin, it should be unstoppable by any government,even by Japan where Satoshi was claimed to be a citizen. Now that his idea has been propelled far and wide, do you think he has the capacity to stop it again?

No, he doesn't have the power to stop it. If anything, if he ever comes back, he might temporarily be able to strongly influence the market. Considering the immaturity of the markets, that's possible but wouldn't last too long though. Otherwise, it is pretty unstoppable. Why would you listen to a guy who disappeared for a decade and sell everything or suddenly stop using BTC because he says so? We already understand the system and we like it as it is.

The first question will be, why destroy a technology you built that is also functioning within the design specification. I do not see the reason for stopping bitcoin, it is unfortunate that even Saatoshi cannot stop it except he deletes the entire source code from the internet but i do not think he should.

Satoshi himself has no capability to stop it, and he himself should know it with how he built the blockchain system to work after all. This is basic of the basics though, and when has he ever stopped it to use the word "again" though? His influence could plenty be useful though in moving the market and influencing what movements could be possible in the market, but I doubt it would even happen at this point. Plus, if he decides to make himself show up and participate in the background coding or something of Bitcoin again, you'd expect a LOT of people to trace him, and no system is perfect and so you'd expect his real identity to be found out sooner or later. I really doubt he'd risk that after 10 years of not showing himself.

And let's be real, why would he even stop it? It's a medium that isn't on anyone's side, only the owner could decide what to use it for, good or bad, Satoshi just made the bridge at that point and anything that happens after shouldn't really be blamed on him or anything.

If he still owns the private keys of the coins he mined, he can create a huge selling pressure.

When people see that satoshi's coins are moving to the exchanges, this will create panic. Satoshi has around 1 million coins and anybody in the right mind will be afraid because the number is so huge, he can manipulate the market in any direction he wants.

On the top of that, satoshi is seen as the ultimate holder. If any coins move from his addresses, then it pretty much means the game is over. Run for your lives.

God bless Satoshi's design to prevent people from exploiting it, aside the typical bitcoin/cryptocurrency related scams, it works like a charm, I can agree with the fact that Satoshi will not stop it. Why would you destroy your brainchild when it is clearly flourishing and helping people liberate from mainstream financial bollocks.

Did he stop it once before? It's hard to imagine that Bitcoin has some kind of a switch off button and that Satoshi would someday want to press it. I mean after all the difference it's made so far, there's no reason to stop it anytime soon.

There's nothing that suggests that Satoshi is Japanese, "Satoshi" is just a pseudonym, he could be from any country.

No, Satoshi can't stop Bitcoin, no one can, the worst thing he can do is publicly prove that he is Satoshi, denounce Bitcoin, then dump all his coins. This would be a very bad scenario for Bitcoin, the confidence of many users will be shaken, and the price will plummet to extremely low levels. But people who understand Bitcoin deeply would continue believing in Bitcoin, and with time it will recover.

This is the worst case scenario, it's extremely unlikely to happen.

He can't stop it whether Satoshi likes it or not. Well, unless he has enough funds to literally 51% attack Bitcoin for long periods of time; or, dump all his bitcoin holdings in one go, effectively chashing bitcoin's price. But yet, these stuff could only potentially damage Bitcoin in the short term, not necessarily stop it.

Stop bitcoin? his code is open source so how can he stop it? Again, he has a Japanese sounding name, but it doesn't mean that he is Japanese, maybe it's just his pseudonym (fictitious name). And I doubt that he will destroy his invention. It has lived for more than ten years now, so it doesn't make sense for him to 'stop' it.

No one can personally stop bitcoin because it is operated with Proof-of-work algorithm. The only exception when bitcoin network stops working is no one on the planet mine bitcoin for a while ^[1]. Do you imagine when no one mine bitcoin on the planet, when there is appocalypse? I hope there will be no appocalypse because if it comes who will care about bitcoin. My life and my small family at that time will be the first priorities of mine.

^[1] Remember it is for a while because bitcoin difficulty is adjusted after each 2016 blocks so if there will be a single miner, I imagine that the difficulty will be superb slowly adjusted but after a too long period, it will return to very early days of bitcoin network. Is it possible?

IMO, satoshi can not stop it technically. because blockchain is immutable and decentralized.
but, with his power as a founder of the biggest cryptocurrency, there is a chance that he can shill people to stop using bitcoin. or maybe to move to a new kind of cryptocurrency.

Yes, he can because this is his creation and anytime they can declare the technology to stop its operation but if I were Satoshi why to stop this when is earning too much in bitcoin? The system was really not worth it if you will going to imagine but because people wanted a kind of digital currency like this in a form of galmbling with profits that could be earn. If not with profits I doubt that only few people will going to invest in bitcoin because only few for now accept cryptocurrency as choice for payment.

I don't think Satoshi moving his/her coins would mean game over at all. It would have a temporary effect and almost certainly create panic forcing many weak and even some strong hands to sell off and cause a dump, but this would not be a permanent damage and I would expect the market to recover after a while. There would also be absolutely no motivation to do this.

I do not think so but his knowledge may influence or affect the price of bitcoins in the market if he wants to. As the creator of bitcoin, I am pretty sure he has some coins kept and stored (among the 21 million in supply) and he may control the price if he has majority of bitcoins.


That is true. The blockchain technology is so precise that every transaction cannot be altered and its decentralized nature makes it nearly impossible to try changing the blocks. Even if he was the one who created such genius technology, once its fully operational I do not think on how he can alter each block without trying to cause some problems or errors in the system.

It wasn't claimed that satoshi lives in Japan. Obviously, with that pseudonym, it is easy to identify that it's a Japanese name.

But it was never claimed and verified that it's his actual identity.

He hasn't stop Bitcoin before and can't stop it again. The project has grown beyond one entity as such Satoshi Nakamoto can't stop the spread of Bitcoin or it existence. Though, the only means anyone even Satoshi Nakamoto can stop Bitcoin is only if he can have 51% attack as many have said on this platform. According to many, this can be done with huge funds and at the moment seem impossible. He can only distort the market if he eventually push  his holdings into the market, but can't stop it.

Stop it how exactly? He could manipulate the markets by suppressing the price or causing a flash crash that could take years to recover from, but that's really all he could do. He build it so that no one man can control it. Decentralized.

I don't think he can stop it, there's no push button that will likely to make that a reality. He may have the ability to drive the market because of his holdings but that doesn't mean it will be the focal factor of its stoppage.

Stop or not the underlying technology behind has already been known and understood now, we have to thank him/her/them for that invention.

I wouldn't worry too much about the real Satoshi appearing, because I doubt very much that he would ever do anything bad to what he created - and the assumptions that he mined as much as 1 million BTC are just assumptions, it's never fully proven. What can pose a real danger is that someone else comes into possession of these private keys, and introduces himself as Satoshi and begins to spread some destructive ideas.

If someone ever signs an address that is thought to belong to Satoshi, it doesn't mean it's really him - it's something that should definitely be considered if it ever happens.No one can stop Bitcoin, but the various Faketoshi we have today and those yet to come will surely work to try to create some new real Bitcoins.

We don't know if Satoshi is still alive too right now so he can do it but I doubt that this will happen.

Although if Satoshi is holding the keys for the 1 million Bitcoins then Satoshi can sell it at once or little by little to make the price plummet anytime. Anyway, I don't think that this can happen since it is already decentralized. I don't think that anybody can stop it right now, even Satoshi the creator.

I don't think if he created bitcoin for only days or weeks, my guess it is years before he/they completed the code of bitcoin. So, what is the purpose of destroying this?

Satoshi Nakamoto has nothing to do with bitcoin even if he reveals his self. The demand and supply were on the hand of bitcoin believers as an holder, that's the price works on.

No, now the bitcoin project is bigger than the pet project of Satoshi which he created. Now the only possible thing he can do is either sell his bitcoins for making the market fall and that too can't hurt the market in the long run as the market would again bounce up and cover all the losses. So, I guess it will be good for him to do whatever he is doing right now, just wait and watch the bitcoin grow and when ready to reap the profits by selling his bitcoins, this will be fruitful for him as well as for the community too.

Do you really understand the term "decentralized"?Bitcoin is decentralized,which means that no single person(even Satoshi Nakamoto himself) can change the blockchain without the support of the majority of Bitcoin miners and users.Consensus is need,in order to fork the BTC blockchain.

Satoshi's name is barely just an alias. But no one knows what nationality he has, he could be a slang european or american. I wonder why Japanese name is the one he chose for his nickname.

The bitcoin technology has been deploy. Even Satoshi came back there is no way to stop and even eradicate it. The 21million bitcoin will remain and will circulate even 50years from now.

But with the bitcoin he has, he can manipulate the market to direction he wants. But that would be impossible to happen since his absence.

What do you mean by stopping it again? I don't remember or see anything in history that satoshi nakamoto stop it before. What I know is, his real identity and whereabout is unknown. It also means that bitcoin continue to move forward and no one stop it before, not even satoshi himself.

Satoshi never did try to stop his invention, in fact once he released the first version, he and other early bitcoin developers try to improved it and make it resistance to attack and weed off bugs, like this one, Strange block 74638 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=822.0).

If he chooses to sell some of his early bitcoin, it might cause a panic, but there are still around ~3 BTC to be mine so I guess it will recover.

There are two scenarios:
- some country having more than enough miners located in it jurisdiction decides to storm the farms and trash it, (this could only be in happening in China), if indeed 60% of the hash rate is taken out and it happens exactly after an adjustment then you're looking at 42  days of 2 blocks per hour network capacity, with a maximum of 200k tx getting confirmed a day. And what is worse, is that after that they could put the hash rate back in action, the next period will happen in 5 days rather than 14, and then play again.
- somebody with extreme large pockets starts taking over enough mining farms buying them and then shuts them down or ..directs them to mine a shitcoin I should not name.

As returning to the early days, that would be impossible.
For example, the hashrate in May 2013 was at around ~100TH/s, nowadays a single S19Pro can do that, no, it would be straight impossible to see again anything below 2014 levels. We have miners here n the forum with more than 1-2 PH of hash that would probably mine for while even if the network is hit by an attack

Although the network would survive its confirmation capacity will be greatly affected and so will the trust in the coin, in my opinion, far worse than a dump with all of Satoshi's coins.

For Satoshi...what if the CIA comes in the open and signed a message and discloses all information on how they've created it all?  ;D

Definitely not.  I think so because Bitcoin had climbed to what it is right now without the guidance or governance of Satoshi.  If ever there is a change of wind and Satoshi does appear telling us that we must stop Bitcoin, I think it will only have an effect for a very short time.  Possibly a crash in price but eventually Bitcoin will recover.

Bitcoin survived and flourish without satoshi so I believe that Satoshi can't stop Bitcoin to thrive.

You're saying this as if Satoshi has already been involved in stopping it. That's just WRONG!!!
For what we know Satoshi might just be an alias either for an individual or a group and even if this referred to a group then as a group of individuals they won't be able to stop BTC.

The highest effect this may lead to might be strong market positioning but not much other than that because the network has grown so much that the influence and power doesn't lie with anybody but the consortium made up of every major BTC holder.

Bitcoin enabled the mining business that made many large farm owners wealthy

Bitcoin allowed Antiminer business

Bitcoin enabled Exchanges trading that allowed many exchange owners to become rich

Bitcoin allowed ICOS and many altcoins that made its creators rich to exist

at that point satoshi is no longer relevant and there is no way to stop this system that is totally out of his control, the maximum that satoshi can achieve would be to temporarily affect the price

If we consider that Satoshi holds majority of overall percentage of Bitcoin, he can shift the market.
But as stated that Bitcoin, cryptocurrency in general in widespread now, it won't just stop.
Satoshi may have eminent influence over Bitcoin but not on extent of stopping its existence.

Satoshi is estimated to own about 1 million bitcoins, with the current supply, that's just above 5% of overall percentage, if we consider lost bitcoins, that value of Satoshi's stash would go higher.
If you meant it is the largest personal stash of anyone, then that is almost certainly right.

As far as I know, technically no one has the right to stop any open-source decentralized cryptocurrency after deployed. Because if someone runs nodes & continues mining then it will exist. For example, if everyone stops store blockchain and stop mining, then you can start yours, so Bitcoin will live on the blockchain. But if satoshi wants then he could make trouble emotionally. If he can sign a message from his owned address and start selling or manipulating then we will encounter huge problems. Or if he stands against bitcoin then the community will break down and we can say the game of bitcoin would almost over. But I don't think it will happen. Who will destroy his own worlds which have created by himself? But remember, the value of bitcoin is different story.

It isn't really about rights. It is more about if it is possible or not. It's sort of like asking if someone can end the internet. We far too invested in crypto to have it go anywhere, anytime soon.

This is a very interesting question. I think Bitcoin is designed to become unstoppable because if somebody can stop it, nobody will risk their money on the bitcoin world.

I am forever thankful to Mr. Satoshi Nakamoto for giving us a chance to be a part of crypto world and also for inventing this one of a kind creation which is BITCOIN. yes, of course something is impossible if someone wants to lose money by investing in bitcoin if there will be a stop bitcoin. Of course all of them invest because they desire that they get a profit that does not want to be small but also large.

There is no way that anyone could sell a million coin all at once  :D. The only possibility is to sell those over the counter and it will not enter the general exchanges and it will not make a major difference in the market. Suppose if you have 1000 BTC and you put a sell order in the market in any exchange you cannot sell the coins until there are enough buyers, you really cannot plummet the market unless you are selling way below the market price.

Satoshi wants his privacy and there is no way he is going to verify his identity in every exchange to sell off his coins. Satoshi left the project by 2010.

To stop something especially about a digital currency like Bitcoin is not easy.

To stop Bitcoin you must first know the background related to Bitcoin, such as: companies, administrators, and many others, 'not easy for that' even though you know Satoshi Nakamoto, by nature, but never know where he and his company or employees control Bitcoin, Satoshi, only names, like ghosts, do not exist in real life.

In running Bitcoin or managing Bitcoin is not a commercial company or anything like that, the heart of Bitcoin, transactions, circulation, are run by a group in the mining process, with this kind of method Bitcoin can run and continue to transact until all time is guaranteed just by confirming it.

I don't think he will do that, that would be something insane if he try to destroy what he was started. Bitcoin is a new technology based on the trust and it has successfully being trusted by most people in this world. Also with an open source system where the people can develop it freely don't know if he is able to stop it.

Bitcoin is decentralized like he wanted it to be. So he has no control over bitcoin and he cannot stop it even if he wants to. But his decisions will have some impact to some extent (and many people think for this reason he kept his identity a secret so that people don't think he is the leader of bitcoin).
He won't be able to destroy it, but if he still have access to his funds, any movement will cause huge short term impact on the price!

Imagine Satoshi coming back, proving he's the one by signing messages, moving coins around, then engage in politics. Say he's an illuminati or a part of the NWO and his aim is to put the world into a state of chaos, then dump some of his coins and crash the price. We'd witness panic like no other, I'm telling you.

I support the question 'why again' because Satoshi or anyone else never stopped Bitcoin in the first place. Moreover, the Japanese pseudonym does not mean citizenship, and citizenship or place of residence of Satoshi remains unknown. Not to the main question of stopping Bitcoin. I am not 100% sure, but to the best of my knowledge decentralization successfully prevents anyone from destroying the blockchain. Satoshi could cause financial damage to many by selling those coins, but even this would be a temporary thing. This person is also most likely to find a vulnerability that would allow to somehow double spend (there were similar bugs already) or do something like that, but given that there's an active dev team, there is a good chance this would be discovered. So no, I don't think he can stop Bitcoin, make it disappear.

Good thinking, I think it can't be stopped because the society is big enough now, it looks like satoshi won't come to the surface to stop what he has created so far, bitcoin will always remain

I also believe that when there was a panic over the release of 51% of the total bitcoin supply, I think it only resulted in a sudden drop in prices.  The chart will show us some very steep descents.  this could be a nightmare for holders, and a beautiful dream for newcomers.  Holders only have the option to hold back and emotion to wait for the price to recover upwards again ... it may take a little longer, but the aftermath is, the development of bitcoin will be even better because the inventor can become the sun for the whole bitcoin family.

I have read most of Satoshi messages and posts on forums and I don't think he ever claimed to be a Japanese citizen. Even if he did why would Japan have the power to stop it? The code is open source and everyone can contribute or research.

There is no hidden code that a single entity can activate and stop Bitcoin. This is IOTA bullshit. It doesn't matter if someone in the community is considered powerful or someone has billions of dollars. It is consensus between all the parts that constitute the Bitcoin community that decide the fate of Bitcoin.

Satoshi created Bitcoin to rid us of masters who have authority over us. This includes Satoshi himself. It was an invention to allow us to be Sovereign, and it works. His success is that he has no power... but we do.

I think its a really ridiculous question about Satoshi's capacity. If Satoshi is still alive then I believe he can still do anything for bitcoin because he was the inventor. But are you sure that someone will tearing down his crown of success just to look crazy ?

Bitcoin has gained a significant amount of recognition. Although it still has a very long way to go in terms of adoption, it has undoubtedly come a long way too and as such, I believe it is now out of the power of Satoshi to stop bitcoin. Although he created it, remember it was created as a decentralized currency, one not meant to be controlled not even by the government

 They want their coin to be on the spot of btc and they want their coin to be the next btc but I don't think Satoshi himself will destroy what he created because he is proud of it . We can feel the same if we built something and we will only develop it to perfection  , not to destroy it .

it is not up to him at the moment, it is decentralized and nobody could destroy it, expect in the case that nobody use it and then miners will give up, until then there is no possibility for one man to destroy it

Even without access to genesis coins Satoshi would be able to incite a dump. His comeback would scare some whales for sure. I think that with Satoshi Back we'd be at 3000 if not lower.

In my personal opinion, once satoshi created Bitcoin and its blockchain technology, it is quite possible for satoshi to stop the function of it.  Just like creating your own technology or software, there are huge possibilities of splitting the codes of the software apart. I see the possibilities of satoshi stopping Bitcoin if satoshi decides to bring an end to the entire ecosystem of Bitcoin. Satoshi created Bitcoin and can definitely bring or stop Bitcoin.

No Satoshi has no capacity or power over Bitcoin now and that is the reason why People are supporting this currency because of its independency
and this is one thing that we must be thankful about.

Actually this same idea why we are seeing too much support on this currency over other cryptos because of security and assurance.
Though we Don't know in future if there are other great mind that can break the blockchain but i doubt there will be one now or in near future.

What makes bitcoin different and unique is that it's a open source code development perfected by the community and not some centralized dominant CEO like other digital currency before bitcoin has and also some other crypto in the space like ETH. Satoshi has no say in what goes on in the bitcoin advancement. He doesn't have the power to shut it down, infact no one does.

The only influence Satoshi has right now is the power to cause fud or fomo from his reappearance into the space and maybe air his views on what's currently ongoing in the community but I doubt that'll even happen. Satoshi knows his present won't be best for bitcoin that's why he disappeared and it's a good thing.

Satoshi can still lower the price of bitcoin in no time (if he want and he come back) because he has some bitcoin in his wallet. If all the bitcoin Satoshi owned were sold on the market, the market would instantly turn into a bear market and that would be much worse than the whale could do.

I dont doubt Satoshi's capacity as a bitcoin creator, and I believe he can still do some thing with bitcoin and the community and this is an unsolved mystery since then and that is his existence.

I hope he will not even think of dumping even half of his shares if he still accesses to his shares, the 1 million Bitcoin that is in that wallet is enough to cause panic and dump of the price, this is something that can the community is wishing that he will not dump his shares or he lose access to his shares and so that Bitcoin is stuck forever in that wallet.  

Don't be surprised it might not go as you think. Those coins are already tagged that of Satoshi and I'm very positive there is already been system put in place to keep track of them. We have those or group of whales who'll be willing to take all out if his wallet if he ever think of selling them but of course that's just our imagination because nobody intentional want to lose money as Satoshi knowing fully well the capacity of bitcoin disrupting the economy won't want to let go of his bags.

In a situation where your scenario turns out to become the case then as always we'll still recover from the bear market. That's not new to us as the market has constantly been doing that in the period if the last 10years. In conclusion, Bitcoin is now bigger than Satoshi Nakamoto.

Because bitcoin technology is already big and has a lot of users like now, maybe even Satoshi Nakamoto can't just stop bitcoin, because in the system alone bitcoin is not centralized. meaning that everyone can control their own bitcoin. but what is possible is to reduce the circulation of the number of bitcoins slowly.

Before questioning that you should ask yourself if why would Satoshi do that? Bitcoin is so successful right now and I don't even think that will happen so no owners will stop their business or creation if it gets a huge success the price of bitcoin is much appealing so provably this will never be stop by him at any cost. Yes, I was thinking along the same lines.  Estimates range of Satoshi mined coins to be from ~800,000 to 1.1+ MILLION.  Today there is ~18,474,000 coins in circulation with only 900 coins mined (added to circulation) each DAY.  Imagine the impact of Satoshi  dumping, say, 1,000,000 coins overnight on the market? That is roughly 5% of the entire amount of coins circulated.  Think about the impact to the gold market if someone suddenly wanted to sell 5% of all of the gold ever mined all of a sudden  ???

If he is the only one who created or invented the bitcoin then I am pretty sure that he knows also on how to stop or dismantle it. But I am not 100% confident with it as I am not a professional one in terms of blockchain.

There's just literally no way he can do it, unless he's working with the government (or is the government itself) - and then you'd have to wonder whether the costs are really worth it. They probably aren't - while first it might've been a cryptocurrency they felt were losing control over, today the gov has enough resources and tools to successfully trace probably more than 85% of the crypto wallets.

Inventing something doesn't necessarily mean you also have the perfect weapon against it or know how to "dismantle" your invention. All satoshi can really do is either influence the majority to transform Bitcoin into the opposite of Satoshi's whitepaper or somehow obtain 51% of the hashing power and use it against us. Other than that.. it is what it is. :)

No, and I don't see any reason why he would ever want to do that seeing the revolution he has caused in the financial industry. Moreover, the power supporting the bitcoin network is now decentralized and in the power of the people hence Satoshi can't stop it but he can surely threaten the market if he decides to move the genesis coins and dump them.

He can't stop it and he will never do it because he already know the output of his creation and if ever he will return in crypto not to stop bitcoin but to help it grow more in it's other features. First of all why would he want to stop Bitcoin when it’s a success? I don’t think he would wish to do that. That aside, I don’t believe that, whoever Satoshi Nakamoto is,that he would be able to stop cryptocurrency anymore. The power is decentralized, I don’t know if you have heard when it’s being said that Bitcoin doesn’t have any central control unit that anyone can use to shut it down, it is spread all around the world and one person will not be able to stop or control it.

Why do you think the government is having a difficult time in regulating cryptocurrency? That’s because there is no particular unit that they can use to control it. Imagine that Bitcoin was based on a particular unit, then they can just go there and shut it down once they discover where it is.

You make a good point because the act of trying to be top coin was among the reason why some altcoin was hit with double spend by a group of people but we all know that no altcoin can dethrone or have the potential Bitcoin had.

I guess one of the things is we don't know if Satoshi exists or bitcoin is made by a company or maybe just a country, somehow for me it is impossible to stop the bitcoin now but what could happen is to kill the bitcoin marketprice that is surely going to killed bitcoin. The main theory here is Satoshi is holding a big percentage of bitcoin, having a big percentage of bitcoin and dumping it in the market could potentially kill bitcoin, we don't know but that's how the bitcoin scam is going to work. Also, it might affect all of the cryptocurrency in the market when the market price reaches 0.

theres no reason why he will stop his creation. if he wanted to, he should have done that a long time ago. and we have been more than a decade in crypto, and btc adoption is growing everyday. the strength of btc has been tested once again during this pandemic and yet instead of going down, it continues to increase its value.

I don't think that will happen because he has given the creative power to the community. That means it is impossible to erase the technology of bitcoin or burn it all down. Unlike other projects, bitcoin is mined with a miner and comes from 0 bitcoins. He can only destroy bitcoins by attacking 51% and now if he wants to do that he needs to have a larger number of miners than the entire number of bitcoin miners in the world. Projects held by ICOs through smart contracts on the ethereum, NEO, EOS, TRX networks ... can burn coins they own by the contract's owner.

We all know Satoshi Nakamoto is the creator of bitcoin and blockchain technology. this will be for a certain point of view very disruptive since the market couldn't understand why there is a movement like this (panic selling!).

How can Satoshi stop bitcoin, mate? Even we don't know he is a single person or ID of multiple persons. Also, Satoshi won't disappear if he wants to stop Bitcoin. After he sacrificed to disappear for years, it is a bit impossible that he will be suddenly appearing to the public and state to stop Bitcoin. Instead, we will suspect he is a fake Satoshi. Please remember that Satoshi has a dream to make Bitcoin be digital cash, it is written in Bitcoin WP. I believe he won't stop it till Bitcoin can achieve the goal. There is no proof that Satoshi Nakamoto is a real name. It is a Japanese name, there's no debate with regards to that matter.

But in all of the names, his name was just made-up so that he can hide under that name. And if I've used the term "him", I'm speculating that he's a guy and there were other speculations that it's name of a group of people that worked for bitcoin. Nobody knows.

There's one very good reason to do so: we're getting too far away from what BTC was supposed to be and we are helping it turn into a perfect tool for surveillance through the stuff we do such as supporting mostly centralized stuff and not caring about the true freedom we can earn through BTC. A lot of people just didn't care, so it evolved in a somewhat bad way.

I don't see how he can stop Bitcoin publicly/legitimately if it's not in his control. A well decentralized Bitcoin should be under the control of network participants/users. So, I think only them can come together & agree to stop it for some reasons...this would be legitimately done mainly via consensus... Or maybe by gradually handing over control to those who want Bitcoin stopped/centralized.

What is execution? this idea that you mention in your OP, which covers much more aspects than what you mention. But also basically for the purposes of your question we can summarize it in two situations:

- The Bitcoin Core Network

- Users: his idea has us all; those who have just arrived, those who handle basic and advanced concepts speaking, discussing, on the bitcoin forum, making transactions, mining, undertaking projects of any kind related to the blockchain, trader, casinos, etc.

Then, according to the theoretical part, this is remotely possible, but stopping the idea at execution of bitcoin, (if they allow me to use the concept, although I have already taken the dare to use it before), it is difficult to have zero Entropia.

Agreed, it is not like a machine that Santoshi Nakamoto turn off it when he wants. we all know that he has a huge amount of Bitcoin. with the help of these he can indirectly control Bitcoin market. if he wanted to sell all of the BTC he has, then there will be occurred a big change in BTC market. I don't think he can take this type of foolish decision. because Bitcoin market is rising day by day.  every day new investors are being added to it. With the rise of investors, the price of Bitcoin has been rising day by day.

No, Satoshi don’t have the capacity to stop bitcoin. None of us can. It’s already unstoppable by now.

He’s the one who invented it, meaning he fully knows and much aware than anyone else how bitcoin works as he built it on blockchain system kind of method, with an open source code, and decentralized nature. He will not be able to stop bitcoin. Bitcoin is decentralized and no one can stop it, even the developers. You can't say that it is unstoppable by the government since there are a lot of countries that already ban it, they could use it secretly but I don't think you should say unstoppable, they could limit the usage of it though.

Satoshi Nakamato is smarter than we thought, she disappeared suddenly after installing this system.In this way, Bitcoin ensured that no one could break this system, and even that it was not found by bad people, which allowed Bitcoin to be used completely neutrally and only by people in a decentralized manner. As of today, I think it's impossible to kill Bitcoin by dumping, say, a million BTC, and crashing its price. I even think that the dumping might have an opposite effect. At first, Bitcoin price would drop significantly, maybe to the levels below $3k, but after that we'd have a mass influx of newcomers, who were waiting for such a low price to buy, and were almost losing their hope. There are millions and millions of such people, and they would surely jump in, because it would be probably their last chance. It might take months for BTC to restore its value after such a dump, but resurrection and rising is inevitable. :)

Satoshi can't stop bitcoin at any means but he may affect the market bigtime when he returns and used his coins if he still have the private key to it, dumping bitcoins price may stop bitcoins growth for a month or two but not enough to totally stop and kill bitcoin. I can't think of anyways on how and WHY would he even stop or kill what he created now that it became such a big thing in our generation.

We don't even know who invented Bitcoin exactly. It is claimed that a person nicknamed "Satoshi" did it but there is no clear evidence about it. Who knows, maybe some group of people invented Bitcoin and didn't want to expose their identity. When it comes to the probability that Bitcoin can be stopped or not, I think it is not that easy. Bitcoin has been in the market for a very long time and it looks like it will continue to increase its popularity and to be used in more places every year.

1. I completely doubt Satoshi had around 51% of the total supply.

2. If someone would market dump 51% of the total supply(though it's obviously a stupid move even if a certain person plan on selling everything), chances are, the price drop is just going to be temporary, and the sold bitcoin would just be redistributed to a huge number of people(which is good).

3. I doubt the development of bitcoin will be "better"; simply because I'm guessing a significant number of the developers are paid in BTC.

I think he doesn't need to actually send it in an "unspendable address", as long as he is not moving that bitcoin he has, less btcs in the circulation would give positive changes to the market. And I don't think that actually stop bitcoin, that would create more opportunities when bitcoin drops, that is for sure since there are a lot of people actually waiting for it to dump so low.

Firstly I don't think that a really powerful cryptocurrency can be stopped easily. Also, there is no reason for Satoshi to stop Bitcoin if he/she has the power to stop, of course. There is a high probability that this financial system will spread even more globally than it is now. I don't think he can or will he ever do it if he can and in the first place, if the  community know or discovered  that Bitcoin can be destroy, people will stop investing and support Bitcoin, they perceived Bitcoin an ideal decentralized Cryptocurrency, there's some imperfection but never to the point that it can be destroyed it strength lies on it being open sourced and no one can fully control it.

The name(Satoshi) doesn't signify a single person but Satoshi is a general name for the group. Satoshi won't like to destroy what has been done because they have liberated the common man from government enslavement. What great with Bitcoin is it being decentralized.  Mostly all noded are set up voluntarily because of the interest on Bitcoin.  Even with Satoshi appearing and telling people to stop mining or setting up node, I believe the Bitcoin ecosystem is huge enough and performing well enough that most of this supporter can ignore what Satoshi wanted them to do.  So I think Satoshi have no power to stop Bitcoin because most of the supporter are doing it according to their own accord and not because Satoshi told them or hire them to do it.

As far as I know this is not possible but if he returned then there is a huge chance of bitcoin to pump and dump because he owns much bitcoin in his wallet but there are some countries where bitcoin is legal like japan Malta Singapore so I think it will directly effect the whole world and those people who invested in bitcoin
