Title: Bitcoin Directory
Post by: BeManga on September 14, 2020, 07:21:18 PM
What do you think about Bitcoin Directory (https://cryptodirectories.com/crypto-directory/bitcoin)?
im spending almost a month developing this project
when I start this im positive that it can help new users discover websites related to bitcoin.
because when I start in bitcoin it takes a lot of time before I find out something new about bitcoin
so recently I start to think what can I do to help a newbie
the conclusion is to build a website where I can categories every website related to bitcoin
so a newbie can discover the website they will need in the future if they plan their journey in bitcoin
but today I ask myself again if this really can help a newbie
that why I want to ask your opinion and suggestion.
Do you find it helpful or not? why?

I think there is clear, lots of choices of wallets and coins. Now just choose what you like or what you find attractive for investment.
If you don't understand what you are choosing, please make a more specific tread.

I am not a newbie but there are a lot of things that I don't know of. I visited your website and I think it will be quite helpful for me and the others who are overzealous about learning new things in the crypto world.

Yes, we definitely find this kind of bitcoin or crypto related projects very useful. If I'm not mistaken, @mk4 has a similar projects, coinsources.io (https://coinsources.io). Is this bitcoin specific though? just double check about r/Bitcoin vs r/BTC there's a lot of drama amongst those subreddits claiming who's the real BTC.

I find your website to be helpful. Don't feel down if you think that this isn't working, you only need some exposure for your website to be discovered by other newbies.
Why not create your own ANN thread for this website?

I had a quick look at it. I think it's a cool resource for newbies and those looking for information about bitcoin but you might have to make a few corrections and keep your directory as updated as possible.

For example under bitcoin forums, you should remove bitcoin.com since it is a BCH leaning forum. Once a newbie signs up on their website. They will sometimes send mails to an email used for registering into their forum and claim that BCH is the real Bitcoin thereby confusing Newbies into buying their shitcoin

There are probably more revisions to be made but it might require time looking through

Good job OP! I really appreciate it, especially I am also a website developer. This kind of project is one on my bucketlist, to make add it on my portfolio, a project that is about Bitcoin or cryptocurrency.
By the way, I saw there we can add links but we need to create an account in the website. In here, after we can add link, it will automatically published in the website? Or there will be some review will happen or vote before it can be listed?

Amazing directory.

Although you should rearrange the directory look.

I mean everyone should get to know the forums first which is knowledge hub for every new comer. Rest of the things are pretty ok. Advertising platforms shall go to at the end since they are not of use for the common person but only to the person who is looking at the bitcoin or crypto with commercial point of view.

You have thought this website in good possible ways. It will get recognition if you publish it on the social medias and what not.

Yes, this is a good project of yours, and good job creating this kind of bitcoin directory. But you need to update some as newbies might fall for the BTC vs BCH here and might confuse them in the beginning. Otherwise, it's a perfect fit for everyone, actually even intermediate or those who have tons of experience on bitcoin might get some help on your directory listing as well, all in one roof.

You've made the great work. It'd be nice to add the list of reputable desktop wallets on this web.

Its encouraging and it have to help many people not newbies alone because the website is a discovery site which everyone  that want to research about bitcoin can access in order to get vital information concerning bitcoin alone.

But problem is that try to design the website because the designing of the site is not well encouraging, a cute website attracts users to access a site.

I applaud you for having good ideology for beginners also the entire bitcointalk community. I really appreciate your effort once again.

when user add link i review the link manually

The idea is good but it has been done before:

- Bitcoin.Directory (http://bitcoin.directory/)
- Bitpay's directory (https://bitpay.com/directory/)

So if you want for people to use your website, I would suggest focusing two things: UI/UX and most importantly, providing as much details and info as possible (with filters). Here is what you can include:

- The payment processor used by the service (If any). This matters because BitPay and CoinPayments have some countries blocked.
- If the service is LN friendly or not.
- Details about the affiliate program of the site.
- For custudoial services: Is KYC required?
- For wallets: mention if they're custodial or non-custodial.
- Enable disqus comments so people can leave their comments as well.

As for Reddit, then the real BTC is /r/Bitcoin while the other one is for BCH.

I think it's impressive work you've done here. There are many categories and some entries in each of them. I don't see the need in Advertising, and I think gambling and sports betting could be united under one (same for online and hardware wallets).  Apart from that, I think you should add more items to certain categories (like gambling). Moreover, I think a separate category on Bitcoin safety would be useful with entries on popular scams, importance of storing the passphrase safely and things like that. And I wanted to ask how entries get their stars. I clicked on Coindesk which had 106 stars as a news website, and the number did not change to 107 even after I cleared cash. At the same time, the animation after the click suggests that it's been taken into account.

Your website is great, it's neat. It's very informative and user friendly, It's very responsive. For the arrangement of  the category seems to be not sorted very well, but it's fine, it's not a very big issue. The show all button is nice, I don't know if colors will be needed, but for me it's too much noise in the eye to see. But it's fine. I also noticed that the Hardware button is half seen. Little fixes on the UI, overall, you are doing great, I'm exploring your website right now.

i restrict it with 1 vote per ip its working fine with me but im not sure if it work the same with other user
i will try to look more on it

i add the prohibited country in the link they can see it when they click the red thing in the left side of the Star(Vote)
i will also try to add description specially for wallet to provide more information for user
for individual link comment it will be possible if i will make individual page per link
as of now User can only comment in category list if user click the category name
they will go to a page similar to this where they can leave comment https://cryptodirectories.com/payment-gateway (https://cryptodirectories.com/payment-gateway)

While I get the gist of your idea, I think that every website might be a bit too much to do. Instead, I'd recommend going through most and choose a feature you want to categorise them by i.e. wallets, content etc. In my opinion this will help keeping you on a much clearer path and not get overwhelmed by mounts and mounts of information.

Also, why are you doing this, is this something you're going to be monetising? If so some money generation strategies might also help you in picking the type of content you might want to show on your website, and need to consider the competition.

if you check the bitcoin directory (https://cryptodirectories.com/crypto-directory/bitcoin) it is really categorize base on the featured of the website like wallet, news, tools, forum etc.
it only have short description right now when mouser hover in the link
but i plan to add more information and build a 1 page bitcoin directory.
