Title: Square CEO Jack Dorsey says Bitcoin holds the keys to security
Post by: Charles-Tim on September 26, 2020, 09:29:44 AM
Twitter and Square CEO Jack Dorsey discusses the role Twitter plays in shaping public discouse, his thoughts on the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, and much more with HRF president Thor Halvorssen at the 2020 Oslo Freedom Forum. But during the interview Jack Dorsey says Bitcoin holds the keys to security.

During the engagement, the CEO spoke positively of crypto's largest asset, Bitcoin (BTC). "The whole spirit of Bitcoin, for instance, is to provide a trusted system in a distrusted environment, which is the internet," Dorsey told host and HRF president Thor Halvorssen in an interview, published on Sept. 25. Later in the interview, Dorsey also described blockchain and decentralization as changing the landscape of online content, hosted by numerous parties instead of centralized entities. "Blockchain and Bitcoin point to a future, and point to a world, where content exists forever, where it's permanent, where it doesn't go away, where it exists forever on every single node that's connected to it," he explained. He also took the time to discuss how content saved via Blockchains becomes effectively immutable.

Not just Dorsey but a lot of influencial people in the industry talk about the potential of bitcoin. Ive been seeing those trending news and I can say that there are still more positive on bitcoin position to be one of the best investment that could grow positively on the coming years.

Security wise its the only crypto that preserved true decentralization and all are just leaning a centralized approach. With the current economic scale, maybe banks and financial institutions could see it potential when its being adopted and accepted by majority.

Jacks been pro Bitcoin for quite a while now. And yes while there are other influential people who see the potential of BTC Jack seems to top the pile right now because of his control of twitter. I think we arent to ar away from a BTC tip bot there.

And yea no other crypto really comes close, thigh perhaps an argument could be made for ethereum.

His been a supporter of bitcoin ever since, Jack Dorsey’s ‘Future Defining’ Plan To Bring Bitcoin To 1.2 Billion People (https://www.forbes.com/sites/billybambrough/2019/12/01/jack-dorseys-future-defining-plan-to-bring-bitcoin-to-12-billion-people/#e4605fc4f6f3).

So it only makes sense to hear him saying positive things like this one, so we shouldn't be surprised. If this is Warren Buffet, then it will have a lot of noise to crypto ecosystem.  :D

There is already a tip bot called @tipbot on twitter and many uses it already and its working.

Jack is always in bull for bitcoin, having him is one of the "asset" of bitcoin to make it more and more popular and spread good things aside from negative feedback from central banks or just from bank institution.

Just a typical "blockchain is the future" feel-good kinda talk. This has been going on for years, but there's very little real adoption, both by end users and by companies. Also, while it's true that Bticoin achieved a lot in terms of decentralized systems, this doesn't mean that it can easily be replicated. PoW is one of the cornerstones of Bitcoin, take it away and this blockchain technology is suddenly not so secure and decentralized.

Very good participation of Jack Dorsey in The Oslo Freedom Forum. He is a huge influencer in the crypto industry, I love hearing positive thoughts about Bitcoin and blockchain because we are gaining an audience. The disclosure about the potential and future of Bitcoin will captivate the masses. More technological advances and the internet we will be discovering very soon thanks to Bitcoin and blockchain.

I don't doubt the spoken truth but, I doubt the unspoken truth which is the fact that, a lot of people who seem to fight Bitcoin does so under the umbrella of assuming it not to be safe.
I agree it's still and continues to evolve but it's the most stable ever.
I just believe they do this because of it's decentralized nature, offering equal opportunity to all, even a common man and no one seems to have the upper hand or to be pulling the strings. But no, they don't want that as they hope to make it centralized so they can control it's activities and runnings.
Bitcoin, blockchain and decentralization has got to stay strong and perfect and in time, all shall adopt.

We need more people like him. Positive energy in the crypto community. But hopefully, he is also building businesses around crypto. Because if he truly believes its capability, he will be creating platforms that will support crypto, and that will increase adoption. We don't need more talks here, we need real action.

It's no surprise that Jack said pro-Bitcoin stuff because he's been a supporter for a while. Nevertheless, it's good that he did not change his mind and that such an influential person mentions Bitcoin and Blockchain in the good light. If he believes in decentralization, I wonder if he's going to work on a decentralized Twitter-like network. I googled it and found out that he already suggested that (https://cointelegraph.com/news/what-does-twitters-new-decentralized-initiative-mean) Twitter should get more decentralized, but that the articles states there are issues with implementation.
As for decentralized Internet, I believe the idea was nicely discussed in "Silicon Valley" TV show, but I wonder if it is possible that we will all switch to the new Internet at some point.

It is well known that Jack Dorsey is a Bitcoin supporter and his views about Bitcoin did not change.
I'm expecting Square to adopt cryptocurrency payments sooner or later, but I guess that some issues with the regulatory frame are stopping that process.
I can say that content can also "exist forever" in the current state of Internet,so we don't need blockchain technology to make content permanent. There are way better purposes for the blockchain technology than storing online content.

Jack is pro-bitcoin more than Mark Zukerberg and that explains why more cryptocurrency adverts, ICOs and all hold on his platform unrestrictedly. Surely he will stand to be counted as one of the aiding giants in this industry whenever the story of cryptocurrency is told. Going forward, news like this is what this industry needs to pull more big weights (and Jack has a lot of them on his platform) to itself and not the occasional ban stories emanating from Russia and its ilks.

I try to imagine how rich in Bitcoins Jack is. It is one of the projects he talks about most enthusiastically. Much more so than Twitter and Square. He truly believes in the potential of Bitcoin and has the power to take it to another level with his companies.

(....)
It doesn't matter anymore how much Bitcoin Jack got. He is an innovator, a well-known philanthropist, and a believer in Bitcoin.
I just researched Jack Dorsey last night and he got an extremely high background in technology and finance, especially he is the CEO of Twitter and Square which is a financial service or a payment system. This kind of guy we should listen to.
