It actually can be tough sometimes to determine whether an airdrop is fake or not. I usually look through there website, LinkedIn, and whitepaper(if available) to determine whether the project is legit. I don't participate in KYC unless I 100% believe in the project.

When they give you an airdrop, most of the time its just an email-ID and an ethereum address. There is no harm in filling those stupid forms as  long as they don't ask you to KYC. Always beware if they come up with any sort of "Buy 2 and get your 1 airdrop token" schemes.

Treat your time as valuable and don't be afraid to ask the hard questions. Ask yourself, what value they really are adding and if they have any talk with clients about their real product. Most airdrops want to confuse newbies by positing a authentic looking website and having an anonymous, strict admin on telegram who will keep saying, "No FUD please" when you ask questions. Stay clear from those. Any serious team will always have thoughtful, intelligent admins willing to answer questions rather than deflecting.

Lastly, most of these are useless projects even if the devs are well-meaning. So anytime you can, just convert part of those tokens and keep stacking your Sats. That way you will hedge the potential profit and loss. DO NOT hold onto these coins in the hope that they will grow incredibly. This almost never happens in reality.

Giving KYC or not is not the only thing to know wheter an airdrop is a fake one or legit. But for you to spot which airdrop is legit, here are the things that you may want to read to help you spot the real airdrop;

And if I may just add, most of those telegram airdrops were not legit. Especially when they asked you to deposit some coins for you to be able to join or in exchange of their reward tokens. Do not fall for that trick, the main purpose of the fake airdrops is to scam participants.

Anytime I go into my telegram account, I see countless number of airdrop with countless offers but the challenge is trying to know which of this airdrop that is genuine.

95% of airdrops that happened in telegram didn't legit airdrop. The legit airdrop can be determined from the what project that has already made it. You can try to know the reputation of the team and project.

As long as the token or coin have already traded on the exchange site and that could be considered as legit airdrop.
Any airdrop have different rules to participated in.

Give your identity is not always making the airdrop become legit airdrop.

There are so many fake airdrop these days.

Usually fake airdrop will ask ethereum for each participant to distributed their airdrop coin, I think is not worth for joining an airdrop project where we should sent them fee for payment coin. Better looking for an airdrop project fill form and waiting their coin distribution like happen two years later where we can get much money from this airdrop kind. I am still remember with many success airdrop project without have sent fee first and just fill our ethereum address.

There is no way to be completely 100% sure if the airdrop is legit.
However, you can look up who is in the project management/dev team and google what else they've done.
If one project claims to be partnered with anyone or to be in charge of some other project - you should google this as well.
Lastly, its all about experience and you should believe in your own choice, draw conclusions afterwards

I too can't distinguish which are the legit ones, as long that they don't ask for your private key then your safe, I can't really determine which are the legit ones, because today, even the legit ones has funny names as a project. If you want a legit project I commend one with good reputation devs. Their project made ethereum network congested way back 2018, and we're looking forward for this one to explode again. So if you want to join in. Feel free to search KittieFight.

after 2017, during the big Hype of ICO, nowadays we are just seeing a lot of scam airdrop, or free distribution that allow people to gain just some dime. I think that there are some signals to be checked each time before you invest your time... unless it's just a time wasting...
I definitely agree with @themohit, "There is no way to be completely 100% sure if the airdrop is legit.", and you should check their project, team, more info that you can grab, but not spend too much time on this activity.

Here some of the "signals" that I am looking before subscribe in airdrop:
- most of the times airdrop that claims "a big value" are just a scam. Likewise "receive 1000$ in our token"
- if you see a big group in telegram (more then 1000 users) and the project has been launched just few time before
- group that are un-moderated , or group were admin refuse to answer to questions, or admin that are aggressive against the members
- they are collecting private info like "name" or "email address" or "phone numbers" during airdrop
- they don't have a WP (Whitepaper) or any road map
- project that claim to be "a revolution" for a certain industry field (and are going to provide all liquidity in free tokens!)

If the airdrop asked for payment or any funds needed before claiming the tokens then its a scam. Airdrop means free token for supporting them or any form of promotional. So if you pay to received a coin or token then thats not airdrop and more like an investment since you paid for it.

From this you can easily checked if that is legit or not. Most scams asked for eth and will tell you to send money on them. Sometime we are wrong but giving you only a suggestion on some scam airdrop works.

Well, checking all their social medias for the information will be there best way to see and confirm the legitimacy of information either with the airdrop or with Bounties. Myself have sometimes been in the darkness when it come to airdrops or any other offers but checking their social medias or blogs with the appropriate information have granted me more rest assured of their airdrops or bounty.

Search the project and read everything about it, mostly those airdrop are just asking for your ETH address and it can be safe as long as you protect your private keys but some of those Airdrop are asking for your KYC which I think is not that worth it to give.

Every time I see airdrop on telegram I don't participate right away and not all of them are good to join, if there's a telegram group for that specific project then its better to ask the and the community. Its not easy to know if the airdrop is legit or not because scammers are also doing well so be patient on reviewing the project and don't expect too much.

Official airdrops are usually announced on social media accounts of a token or coin such as Twitter or others. In my opinion, most are just bots now. if you are looking for a paid and legit airdrop, you need to see the admin is active or not in answering questions from members who join it.

Airdrops are free tokens given to those who will participate.
As long as you will not give any ETH to them to get the tokens, it doesn't matter whether it is a fake one or a legit one.

If it is legit and it will have a price in the future then good but most of the airdropped tokens ended up being a dead coin or a scam coin (for those who are asking for some ETH to get the tokens).
TBH, it is difficult to identify which is a legit airdrop or not. Anyway, it only consumes only a few minutes of your time to participate so it doesn't matter if it is a scam or not. Just join in any airdrop you want to join.

Their rewards are good to be true like giving you that much coins for you to get tempted and invest it to get more coins thinking that you might earn on it in the future. But all of it are just false promise and never it will be good. This is why I never join airdrop because it is not really earning and more of it are scam projects. So, If I were you forget about airdrop and instead focus on learning about good defi projects or about investing bitcoin that will help your money grow and on the contrary you can also lose your money if you do not know how to manage your investment.

Now is not 2017, so they have already come up with other ways to distribute their tokens, for example, farming.
A striking example is the SUN token, I wrote about it here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5274430
I am sure that 99.99% of airdrops are scams or fraud. Block these messages and report spam.
In the best case, the amount will be so small that the transfer fee will be higher than the selling price.

We can validate the airdrops of this token on their legitimate social media account. Like before, when I see some airdrops shared one of my friends on social media. My first move is to check if there's an announcement on their social media account. I found out that there is an announcement regarding fake airdrops spreading on social media. And sometimes, we can validate it first by just seeing the amount of airdrop per person. If the value is too good to be true, then it's fake.

although with airdrop we can get tokens or coins for free, but to assess projects that do aidrop (legit / scam) is not much different from doing an "investigations" like we want to invest in the project (if the Time is money, then the Time we use to work on the airdrop is our investment "indirectly")

It's not a question if some airdrop is fake or not. There are also malicious Telegram bots so people need to be careful when they are using them. For example, often those airdrop TG bots require users to open some web site in order to participate. You never know what is on that web site until you open it. Some web sites can install malicious software on your computer and then you have bigger problem than knowing if some airdrop is real or fake.

Whenever I see huge participants in an airdrop program sometimes it looks genuine to me but I understand that's not actually true and on this basis we mustn't determine that an airdrop is real because we have already seen many fake airdrops in the past in which there were too many participants anyways It's really difficult to find out which airdrop is genuine or fake it's all totally depends on our deep understanding.

The genuine airdrop will always be running by reputable party and in this case reputable party means the party who has already known by a lot of people. If you were seeing the airdrop that was asking your identity and you should not join on it.
It has a very big probability to be the scam airdrop only. The airdrop from the unknown coin must not be trusted too.
Remember avoid to deal with

Airdrop hunting is almost dead now, I know a lot of people are still applying for airdrops but it isn't worth it anymore as these aren't profitable anymore because of the increase in number of users that are in it for quick profit. I guess it will be better to rank up a twitter or Facebook account and use that account for these purposes as it will be more profitable than applying for 100s of worthless coins that will be filling your wallet and not having any future at all. Right now most of the airdrops are complete scam and they on't even be listed on any exchange in the future.

It is complicated to find out the scam projects. Their website development information, aim and conception of their projects etc. One have to research those before joining.

Most of the fake airdrops used airdrops bot, and if they ask anything that you need to send any amount of ETH, or Bitcoin for you to be able to receive the coin don't listen to them or don't send any coins if you don't want to regret in the end. This is most often happened in the fake giveaways or airdrops.

Unltil you've joined all of them, you wouldn't know which one is fake or not. You need to gather some experience from those airdrops as long as you avoid those airdrops that involved depositing money from your wallet to win some giveaway. Just join all of them and when you finished you will see some will pay and will not. It's the same for the bounties and you will not be disappointed as long as you only doing it for the sake of gathering experience. later on you will know the important of trying to joined them all so that when a new Airdrop has launched you will have some idea whether it's fake or legit.

To tell you the truth, it can be hard sometimes to tell the good ones from the fake airdrops. I look for a well written whitepaper, if they don't have this you shouldn't bother by signing up or doing tasks for them. Often they only wants you maillist, or your twitter, or your facebook details.

Fake airdrops are everywhere right now. Trying to ride the hype of the development of crypto. My way to spot fake airdrops is by checking the website of the project saying they have airdrop. Fake ones are not usually refined and information are either copied from other projects. Check also the team running it. Fake ones normally just put profile of people not even involved in the crypto industry.

Anytime I go into my telegram account, I see countless number of airdrop with countless offers but the challenge is trying to know which of this airdrop that is genuine.

Most of the times, I find myself in different telegram groups and when I check around I will realize they are hosting one airdrop or the other; to me such airdrop isn't to be trusted. Also, nowadays I see many airdrops flying around and when checked, I will realize that their twitter page was just created recently, not even upto a month; to me, such airdrop isn't to be trusted. In addition, I do see some airdrops which the admin of the group will create a form, limit the number of participants so as to make it look serious while creating unnecessary hype, people will rush the airdrop, then presale will start and people will still invest only for the admin to lock the group and exit scam.

Going through telegram, a lot is happening, people are joining many fake airdrops, people are getting scammed and so on. Now when looked at all these airdrops and projects, one thing was clear, they lacked whitepaper, no website nor visible team, what they have is just a telegram group.

So from my little explanation, fake airdrops from a project will lack the neccessary information to show if the project is legit or not.

Airdrop can be lucrative, but it portrays a huge role in the world of scammers. It has become their method for the past few years and up until now. Therefore, you need to be careful and evaluative. By identifying the credibility of an airdrop, you can review the details of the project on the official website. You can also gather further information on their social media platforms that will support their announcement that they are implementing an airdrop.

Often times the white paper is also plagiarised and the project seems obviously fake which is definitely a red flag and hence that airdrop is to be avoided, other than that I research about the team members on LinkedIn and other platforms where if they are active then it is a positive sign and thus I take part in those airdrops. Out of the airdrops that I have selected only a few give me good profit and others are just like doing work for a few pennies.

You need to look beyond your greed.

Any airdrop that requires you to join channels which are muted, are SCAM.
Any airdrop that offers $1000 of coins just for liking or joining, are SCAM.
Any project that had it's website created within the last few days, but is conviniently hosting a public sale in a day or two, are a SCAM

In many ways scammers create fake airdrop. Newcomers to the crypto market may not understand these strategies at first, as a result of which they fall into the trap of scammers.

  • When an airdrop asks you for money for some kind of fee or something else then it is a scam.
  • Those who want a private wallet key in the form to join airdrop is a scam, because later they will get access to your wallet.
  • If you have to give personal data to do kyc to get airdrop, then it is also a scam.
  • If kyc is mandatory to get airdrop, it is a scam, because scammers create these traps to steal your personal data. Your personal data can be misused by scammers in the future, so be careful.

Because no real airdrop wants this information to join airdrop, fees, personal data and the private key of the wallet.

Here is my little advice: don't rely on airdrops. "Bountydetective" manager is losing a good projects reputation but still he has some legit airdrop in his bounty telegram group. To do this, you need to carry out ANALYSIS.
Go to the project website, check what is written there for plagiarism, check the team for real existence, check the team for fakes, check the partners for their existence and for the existence of the project's links with partners.
Do the same for white paper and other project documentation. Search and you will find.

Well some airdrops are real while others are scams .The best way to know whether an airdrop is real or fake is to make a research about the project like visiting their social media channels, website and telegram and in that way if you are lucky you will be able to choose the right one. Most genuine airdrop don't ask you send funds or buy their tokens so just be careful and take note.

Basically if that airdrop come from known Crypto just check their official telegram account and website, If it's real there will be always information on that if not then i was scam. For some new project it's little bit hard, You need to research like looking their team, whitepaper, roadmap, etc. Same when you want to join bounty or investing, Good luck and be careful!

And when you join one of them and starts to ask you Ethereum for them to send you and shoulder the network fee, it's already an answer to know if that airdrop is fake or scam.

Actually, if we do research properly, such as looking at websites, whitepapers, project teams and social media. So we can conclude
that the airdrops are fake or real. But most people follow airdrops based on the hype that is happening, So it's only natural that in

Very many such airdrops, maybe even hundreds or thousands. I am not very interested in following it because it is mostly a scam. I prefer to follow the airdrop held by an exchange or also held by a trusted BM like bountydetective
Fake airdrops are still rampant nowadays as they continue to scam people particularly for those who are still newbies in the market. There are really airdrops that are almost tempting based on their tricks and if we let them lure us, we will fall into victims. Once airdrops ask for our money first so they can send their tokens, it's totally a fake one. Airdrops should be sending their free tokens without asking for payments from us. Do not be fooled with these fake airdrops by being careful and vigilant at all times.

It actually can be tough sometimes to determine whether an airdrop is fake or not. I usually look through there website, LinkedIn, and whitepaper(if available) to determine whether the project is legit. I don't participate in KYC unless I 100% believe in the project.
But even this is not enough, it's more tougher than bounty campaign when I was active in airdrops and giveaway I usually check the telegram channel and see how they interact with people asking about their project, so many bounty airdrops are anonymous because they are not asking for money and this is their big defense.

Always verify if the airdrop is real by following the project's social media sites or checking their website. You can also ask directly their team in platform where they're often online like on TG to make sure.

Anyways you can join in any airdrop as many as you want but its better to use a new email specifically for airdrop and dont comply to their kyc because your details might get compromise so stay away to this kind of airdrop.

We cannot really tell whether an airdrop is fake or legit but my idea and I know some of the hunters also think that the lesser value of the airdrop is highly a legit airdrop while if an airdrop is offering a high value then it is most likely a fake airdrop.

Most of the time, determine genuine airdrop is really hard to find. However in my own experience, I constantly check their website, and whitepaper if any. But as long as they don't ask your private key, there is nothing more seriously.

There is a simple solution,if the airdrop don't ask for your KYC then just join them and besides you have to lose nothing on this airdrop.

The problem only starts when they are asking for KYC but in the end paying nothing.

prevent from being Noob and once promising too much rewards then more or less?it is a scam.

Airdrop is totally free, if you see a project when you must pay to claim this is not airdrop.
I detect airdrop by checking their website, social fanspage, whitepaper and team behind the project.

It will be a hard time knowing whether an airdrop is legitimate or not. Usually, their papers are too good to believe and in wrong grammar. You can prevent yourself from joining in fake airdrops by being observant.

I think it depends on what are you ready to waste your time on: going through the project's info or filling in the airdrop form (liking, tweeting, subscribing, copying links. whatever). If you spend your time on research and find out the project is a scam you'll lose your time anyway. And then you have to start all over again. So fill in that form and let it go.

I prefer the last point which is not asking for funds or buying the tokens, from there we know that the project is giving free airdrops. If you find an airdrop form, you just fill it according to the question, but don't fill out the form with privacy data.
A lot of airdrops do ask for the documents like proof of identity for confirming that you are a real person as now a days most people are claiming the airdrops by making a lot of alt accounts and bots. I guess if I think that the airdrop is actually a good project and not another crap project then I will definitely give my documents to them for the verification purposes along with a watermark in the picture that is for what purpose this document was used so as to be safe from identity theft and misuse of that image if it falls into wrong hands.

When you say Airdrops in Telegram, I already knew that it is already a scam because they are mostly bots, and only showing you fake earnings on your account. Sometimes they also asked you KYC or proof of identity, that is why it is sometimes suspicious to participate in airdrops nowadays. Airdrops nowadays are not that profitable or will help you to become rich, so it is not worth to participate with.

If you're added to an airdrop group on telegram without your consent, it's always a scam most times. That's an easy sign. Genuine airdrops run on referrals and not coercing people into groups. Secondly, if an airdrop demands you pay a certain amount of money to get a code to claim your supposed earning (no matter how small the amount is), please run. It's obviously a scam. Lastly, be weary of any airdrop that asks for a KYC. Once the demand extends an email and ERC wallet address, don't do it.

You must join a group that specifically talks about airdrops, because if you are looking for an airdrop yourself, the possibility of being caught in an airdrop scam is very large,
and if you have joined the telegram airdrop group, there you will find a way to find legit airdrop,
and usually you will find out the airdrop scam or not from the discussion there.

It's not easy to tell if the coin is fake or not, or some kind of airdrop bot. and usually a fake airdrop bot will be detected a scam after many users report that the project is fake. For example UNIBOT at that time, after the party ended, UNI botV2 airdrop appeared and people flocked to Join in it but after a few days the airdrop was detected as SCAM and the scammer had pocketed 4 ETH from fake bot.

A lot of these airdrops are hardly worth the effort in my opinion. The ones that are fake pay of course nothing, but even many that are not fake pay very little or close to nothing. I've seen very few lately that pay alot, and therefor I can't really see why people bother to join to maybe get a dollar or so.
well, if you already know that there are losses experienced by many participants because the price is too cheap and sometimes they don't give results from what the airdrop participants have done, so in my opinion you have to be more selective in determining the airdrop and  dont wasting your time to work that has no results.

I often encounter fake airdrops on the bot's telegram channel. and in my opinion, fake airdrop criteria such as offering high rewards and requiring participants to perform a KYC system or even asking participants to send ETH fees that are not worth the pay.

This is the mostly use platform that want to make fake airdrop.they are just want boost the group telling them they are given free tokens or coins  then selling the group they get many members to join. This is common happening right now I don't why still many people to continue joining of that kind of airdrop even they know that no one earning by participating in it. You will join in many groups but you will receive nothing in exchange for it

It actually can be tough sometimes to determine whether an airdrop is fake or not. I usually look through there website, LinkedIn, and whitepaper(if available) to determine whether the project is legit. I don't participate in KYC unless I 100% believe in the project.

Sometimes it is easier to perform the necessary actions to participate in an airdrop than to check its legality. This is the strategy followed by most bounty hunters who take part in all airdrops that they meet. Some, just like you, are stopped only by passing KYC, but this is also not an obstacle for most.

If you don't have time to investigate the web or the ANN Bounty/Airdrop developed in this Forum, you can visit here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0, every day, maybe you will find some Airdrops that you promote are scam or not.

The link I provided above can help you find out which Airdrop is a scam of at least 60%, and so on 40% more depending on you to consider and find out about the Airdrop that you are following a scam or not.

In general, half of the Airdrop journey is going, you will know a scam or not, based on what they show on ANN airdrop.

Most important thing is experience. There is some way by which we can find it. Like we have to observe their website very carefully. All the mandatory points like Team, Partnerships, News Articles, Whitepaper (where available), should be checked. Research about their team carefully. Check their Roadmap and compare their Twitter tweets with their roadmap. You will understand if they are working properly according to their plan or not. One of the best character of a genuine project is they work according to their roadmap and updated the community via twitter. So twitter is one of the best platform to track an project's progress.
Instead of all this many projects scam. Because they also know how we check any project. So they put fake team, fake products, fake updates about their project and also try to create wrong hype like "Binance listing" etc. And for this kind of projects our experience and knowledge comes into play to protect us. Proper knowledge about cryptocurrency network and products and helps you to understand and correlate the updates with the happenings.
And I strongly believe that never do kyc in any project that is not 100% confirmed genuine.

It's easy to detect fake and genuine airdrops, you only need to check the website, update information on Twitter and activity on the telegram group,
I'll explain a simple analysis:
1. Website, Every legitimate project has an elegant UX/UI appearance and is not duplicate
2. Information updates on twitter, make sure the team updates some information recently
3. Telegram group activity, every legitimate project has a main conversation about the project and the admin always gives the latest feedback
4. If already listed on the exchange, make sure the trading volume is real.

This is the Golden Rule in Airdrop. Don't ever pay or send ethereum or anything in Airdrop that is definitely a big scam, airdrop rewards is for free, Another things is when the telegram group is newly created without any other contents and is filled with new members some other are bots that usually spams in the group.

This is a non-crypto but I remember someone busting fake tech scammers where their LinkedIn profile seems legitimate because there are a lot of people vouching for them in the feedbacks. Take it as another advise for everyone that LinkedIn feedbacks can be faked or even paid if that thing still happens these days.
LinkedIn might seem like a professional website for professional people but after I watched that video of scammers being busted and calling by their real names, I was moved.

When one claims something so major that they are going to make super rich by joining them, you should know that it is not real.

I am saying the same thing for uniswap as well but people are not believing me right now, there are people who think each of that worths 400 dollars and they are going to have tens of thousands of dollars just because they joined, and some even managed to cash out as well somehow which I congratulate them for but the reality is when it is not locked and when it is exchanged to cash you are going to see that it worths nothing, nobody in the world would give you tens of thousands of dollars for free, why would they do that? What is it in it for them? This is why fake airdrops are fake obviously if you look at the amount they claim to give.

There are many signs if it is a Good airdrop or Fake airdrop. Those who experience receiving airdrops today knows that most of the tokens they got have no value at all, If the token they received has a value, They just received a very small part of it. One of the obvious signs that an airdrop is fake is when the airdrop is requiring the participants to send eth for fees, Airdrop is some kind of promotion of the project, and letting participants spend for "gas" somehow make participants doubt about the project.

Stop trying to figure out how to spot a fake airdrop. Just ignore all of them. Since around 99.9% of those air drops are fake, it is not worth wasting your time collecting those shit coins and keeping track of each and every of those coins. You would be better off doing something more productive. And you need to be really lucky to get a good airdrop. Remember, airdrops are given for free and everyone receives them. So, there is always a high chance it won't be of any value other than few dollars. And like I said, you need to be extremely lucky to earn something significant from an airdrop. And its more like you have better odds placing bets on dices and winning something.

See what the task you have to done, if there is some task who ask you a personal identity it is not worth at all. Although the airdrop is legit and pay all participant at the end but it is not worth if you pay with your personal identity, avoid this airdrop.

The airdrop event only has a few task and it doesn't need a long time to complete all the task. So, I don't think you need to know the airdrop is scam or not, just be cateful with the airdrop who ask you personal identity then you have to leave it.

First of all i think that most so called airdrops nowadays are no real airdops anymore because for most of them you have to follow twitter or do something else.
Real airdrops are for free. You just enter your adress and get free tokens.
Yesterday is saw warnings in telegram about a fake airdrop that deletes you telegram account if you click on the telegram link.
So i would always double check if an airdrop is for real or not. In telegram and on the internet.

Currently most of the Airdrop is a scam, sometimes we are lucky to get tokens that can be sold but the value is low, not worth the current cost of ETH gas.
We can also get Airdrops that are worth hundreds of USD or more, it's just that it's very rare. (1 in 1000).

To assess a valuable Airdrop, of course we have to look at their website, and see their detailed project information then make their own decisions about the airdrop, if you are having trouble maybe this site can help you assess an Airdrop.

I think it is obvious for an airdrop to be a fake. It is very suspicious for an airdrop if the airdrop rewards is so very big and unrealistic. Perhaps, big rewards may attract people but it could also be the reason that the people wiuld be suspicious and could just fall into a fake airdrop. Also it is very suspicious if the task is so many, and the social media accounts are also fake auch that it is only made to have more followers, and then in the long run they wouldn't give rewards.

Before joining any airdrop to be free from fake airdrops, do a thorough search of its website, LinkedIn and other social media and white papers; Hopefully you will understand a lot about fake airdrops. You can also join a telegram airdrop group, where different airdrops are discussed; From there you can find valid airdrops and find airdrop scams.

My first indicator of a fake airdrop is KYC. I have some friends saying that if an airdrop demands KYC most likely it is fake and just hunting for peoples information to sell into the dark web. You will know if an airdrop is real if it is from a legitimate company so you must search deeply on the companies background first.

as long as we are not harmed then I think it's legal
you are not harmed but you likely joined an illegal airdrop . even if you say that you dont care , you are helping these scammers to reach to the other people and what if those people are weak and they are going to invest . they can get scammed but you wont still care with them anyway and they are also responsible for it because its thier action . you still waste your time joining scam airdrop even by not researching or by doing easy task because they arent still going to pay you but if you will only research , your effort are not going to get wasted and you can also earn good profit .

I'm not sure if there are still legit airdrops after 2017 bull market, nowadays 90% of all the airdrops are scam,if you are looking for a way to identify a fake and a real airdrop then just know they are not much difference BTW them, but one of the ways I identify a fake airdrop is when participants are been asked to donate a certain amount of crypto (maybe in eth) in exchange for their airdrop token, stay away from such airdrops, normally airdrop is a free money sometimes they just require you to just follow them on Twitter or like their Facebook page, they shouldn't be asking for some crypto in exchange for their token, so stay away from such airdrops.

I can conclude that fake airdrop projects have criteria such as easy requirements, offering token prizes of hundreds of dollars or even thousands of dollars, requiring participants to do KYC, sending ETH gas fees to claim airdrop tokens, and many other criteria. and you need to avoid if you find this kind of airdrop.
airdrop as you said there are indeed many scams. even disadvantage participants. from several telegram groups, we can also see it. there is also via email that out of nowhere they get our email and send continuously new airdrops that do not generate money.

If you are talking about UNI tokens airdrop, it is only announced after the timeline period ended so no one really knows that it was coming but now scammers take advantage of uniswap and trying to imitate the same with same name or replica of it.

Anytime I go into my telegram account, I see countless number of airdrop with countless offers but the challenge is trying to know which of this airdrop that is genuine.

If users can't sell their tokens or if this isn't listed on coinmarketcap then is better to stay away from that airdrop because those are coins without value. Maybe in the future, those coins get a value, but that's a bet, maybe the coin never gets listed.

Or take a quick look at their website, you will already get impression if the project is fake or not. Because if they do have generic content, high likely that they are just fake. But if they have solid foundation and all the documentation is there, probably they are running a legit project but you need to study more on this project.

the point is in yourself, make it a habit to do analysis before joining anything, and don't be easily tempted by big rewards.
to good to be true.
The first thing we have to do is we have to be realistic and not easily provoked by airdrop offers that promise big rewards. second, make sure you analyze before joining, whether it's an official airdrop by checking the official account of the project in question. third, a fake airdrop will ask you to send some funds under the pretext of being an activation or transaction fee, my advice if someone asks for such funds immediately leave and report the account.

And the airdrop group has entered my telegram account with not a small amount.
I do not understand incoming airdrops, while I have never joined a telegram airdrop group.
Fake airdrop or not, I don't like about airdrops, obviously wasted my time.

not very clear, but you can see from the website, the development roadmap or the estimated token being shared.
it doesn't make sense for a project to distribute $ 1 million in airdrop tokens.
or providing an amount similar to or more than 10% of the total supply.

It's easy to distinguish real airdrops from those that don't. You need to see the track record of projects that hold airdrops. If the project is already well-known and is not looking for money, then it is certain that the airdrop is a real airdrop compared to projects that have never entered an exchange.

It's no longer effective in my point of view, scammers are already doing the copycat of true project. They can imitate easily how real developers build their websites.

Most of the time, hunters are all relied with luck following or participating with any projects who offered this bounties.

Keep yourself well aware and stop providing important information such as KYC and if there's any fees  most probably it will turned to scammed out.

It's not easy to spot fake airdrops, because sometimes they look perfect but they turn out to be scams. But I will mention a few
things that show the characteristics of fake airdrops for consideration when going to joining airdrops. Among others simple Websites,
without a whitepaper, promising large numbers of airdrops, admin projects are not active and social media is too spamming. If the
airdrops you are participating in have the characteristic I have mentioned, better avoid following these airdrops. Because most likely
the airdrops are fake.

When I see that airdropped tokens or coins have a $ value, while they are not trade (example - join airdrop and get XXX tokens (5.5$ worth) or something similar to that) I immediately skip them as they are 99% fake, scam or worthless. I would say, that most of airdrops that run by telegram bots are fake and created just to make projects telegram group look bigger. I would not trust telegram channels or pages, that collects info about airdrops and share it with other. All of this is made just to build a referral database (for group or page owner) with hope that airdroped altcoin really have a value in future.

You have lost nothing if your KYC remains fre but if all those airdrops you joined ask KYC and you have given them?then i think you should be aware of losing while the scammers won over you.
they can sell your details in any 3rd party services in which data's of those airdroppers has been used.

It is hard to know which airdrop is fake but we could always keep ourselves safe by avoiding airdrops that required our personal information or have a KYC policy before they accept you on their list of participants.
We should also avoid the airdrops that requires payment in order to receive their token/coin no matter how small it is.

There are many ways but there are a few quick ways I can suggest you to avoid any fake airdrops

- A coin being given away too much by the team usually means the coin is never going to gain any value because they are giving away too much.

- Owners trying to make OTC deals at dam cheap prices, it sounds weird but a lot of times airdropped coins are being sold privately to investors so look out for that.

- No development and prior planning by the team

There are many other ways to detect a fraud airdrops but just keep an eye on their development, their team, their actions and if they are being too casual giving out coins, avoid at any cost.

But I don't send them that money. Because i was understand that this airdrop must be fake. Then some days later my thinking came true.

Success of airdrop is very less and if you can receive an airdrop from a genuine project then there is a very good chance that you can only receive a small share. But everything
is possible in crypto like what happen to UNI airdrop where the airdrop participants get 2k$ each.

There is no guarantee that you can fully avoid the fake airdrop but to be able to to at least lessen the chance to join a fake airdrop then you should check the background of the
project whether they have a good team, good partners, good response from the forum members or users, their whitepaper and etc.

Just don't participate to airdrops most of them are not worth your time also some of them doesn't really reward you they might just use the users to have more followers, like, retweet on their promoting page maybe before it's good to participate in airdrops but now i don't think it's worth your effort.

Anytime I go into my telegram account, I see countless number of airdrop with countless offers but the challenge is trying to know which of this airdrop that is genuine.

Okay let me try my best.
First, any altcoin that wants or demand you share your private keys, mnemonic phrases is fake. As the nature goes, it is meant to be private, even when creating the wallet, you were warned about sharing private informations with a third-party, hence any airdrop asking for it, is fake.
Secondly, any airdrop asking for payment of any kind is fake. Airdrops are carried out to help promote a project and when done, the project team in return rewards the participants, therefore any airdrop now asking for payment means they are fake and looking for who to scam.
Thirdly, any airdrop whose social media accounts like twitter was created recently most times barely a month prior to the launching of the project is likely to be scam. There are many of them on telegram and twitter.
Fourthly, most airdrops from most projects have no idea on whatever they want to build, just create a telegram group, twitter and promotion starts, and within a few days they start talking about Pre-sale. I do not think projects like this are serious. Also, with DeFi still very much around, many of these projects are coming up with full force hence be careful.

I also want to add this tips, there are fake airdrops just made  by scammers to steal money in our wallet. They often copy the name of a coin or project already listed on the exchanges to make  fake airdrop and at the end he force us to send some little amount of eth for gas fee to send our airdrop token into our wallet. So if we will see an airdrop of a coin or token that already listed on exchanges, just search the coin/token official main  group chat and ask the admins if they have an ongoing airdrop for verification, so that we do not fall victim to this kind of scams airdop.

Title: Re: HOW CAN ONE KNOW A FAKE AIRDROP?

I can conclude that fake airdrop projects have criteria such as easy requirements, offering token prizes of hundreds of dollars or even thousands of dollars, requiring participants to do KYC, sending ETH gas fees to claim airdrop tokens, and many other criteria. and you need to avoid if you find this kind of airdrop.
Yes if any airdrop asks you to send them some fees or gas or any kind of payment to claim your coins, it is nothing but a fraud airdrop and you must avoid that immediately.

Basically you have to think that if you participate in 100 airdrops, 99 airdrops are scam. From my personal opinion in the last couple of years, i have only received 3 airdrops which is acutally worth in the market and the rest are cheaters who didn't send me tokens. So there is no machine yet to determine which airdrop will pay you or which will not pay. You have to do with your own will.
That's true but the more information you have the higher that percentage goes, you mentioned like 1 in hundred which means you have achieved 1% of the value from coins and if you can just do some more research and find more about the coin, what their idea is behind the coin and why they are offering the coins for free you can actually increase that number to at least 5-7% and yes it is impossible to detect all fraud airdrops.

This has been a known problem for some time, quite a long time actually. I would never use a wallet with a lot of funds in them for airdrops, the risk certainly isn't worth it. Scammers will try every method to try to steal your hard earned money, including fake airdrops, so be aware.
That's right, the advice you are saying is very accurate, because from the past until now there have been so many fake Airdrop programs that it would be very risky if someone uses a wallet filled with valuable assets inside.

Could you please clarity, how can scam airdrops steal your money, when you simply paste your wallet address to bot/google form/any other form of applying ? I just dont understand how can this help them to steal funds ? Like take your signature campaign application form. You've already revealed your empty ERC20 wallet. Did you use empty wallet on purpose, so that no one will know how many and what kind of tokens you have? But the whole idea of blockchain is that information is transparent and encrypted at once.

Better be more careful about it, this will waste all of our time without any benefit. you will regret just wasting your time.
then better not joining any right?
since most of those are waste of time,i still don't know whats the reason why there are still people trying to join airdrops if they are not getting any good returns?

does this mean they have no other thing to do in life just joining airdrop and bounties?or this is part of their daily routine?

Actually we don't sure what is genuine or fake in the airdrop because most of them are good in hiding their true colors so the participants did not recognized that they are scam. Only taking risk you can do if you are joing an airdrop because there is no guarantee that you are erning or you get your reward there is two possible to happen is either you are getting the right token or coin or you get nothing but I suggest you to conducting a research to prevent a high possible scam of airdrop.

its main criteria might be like bidding. if the airdrop offers gifts of up to hundreds of dollars or even thousands of dollars then you need to forget about the unreal party. On the one hand, some types of airdrop bots are mostly a scam. This is the main reason why I don't like telegram bot airdrops because of scams. especially if it requires the cost of fuel delivery, it is a red flag for you.

There are a few things that should always ring a bell to you when you see them. For example, there are coins or tokens that I know are well established but I will still see an airdrop of that same token, which is a huge sign that the airdrop is a scam. Imagine you see an airdrop of Tron which is already popular, it’s probably going to be a scam because such tokens don’t need any more of that since they are well established.

But there are still popular coins that can still do airdrop, so you should check their links and know whether they are linked to the official media pages of the coin or their official website, if not, then it’s best to stay clear from it. Other things I’d like to point out are the ones with grammatical errors, the ones that are using Google form, and the ones that are posting from new accounts.

what to look for, if there is a smartcontract for this token, than 50% that its  not a scam or at least will go to the exchange, if there is a team that opened their faces, then another 40% that this is not a scam, the rest is trifles
