Title: [SOLVED] NiceHash Miner - Error During Benchmark
Post by: UserU on October 02, 2020, 12:33:27 PM
I'm not sure what's the root cause. I've removed the drivers and installed the older ones as well as added the folder to the exception list for Windows Security but it keeps throwing that error.

My card's a GTX 960 2GB and I've used it to mine before, so I don't think that the VRAM is the issue.

P/S: I know the card's ancient/ non-profitable, so no need to reiterate that.

Could be your OC if you have one applied. Is that the latest version of Nicehash miner? I had this with an older version but since updating its all benchmarked as it should.

I checked, my card's running on stock, no OC or software (e.g. Afterburner) involved.

Yup, the version of NHM is 3.0.4.4

It's hard to guess the problem, could be a lot of factors
Check this thread, maybe there's good information for you: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5264009.20

I already have this problem with nicehash and it was related to Windows and Firewall, try to disable everything related to virus/firewall on your PC, I know you put the folder on exception but there's more to dig

Another causes to error:

Drivers
Old versions of nicehash
some miner with bug

I checked the thread, strangely his case is slightly different as the rest of the plugins were disabled. I believe his CPU is quite unsuitable for mining hence that.

Thankfully, I have found out what caused mine; plugin incompatibility.

Disabled the current plugins and installed CryptoDredge, and it works fine now.

Never used this app CryptoDredge, is it good?
Nicehash is easy to use, but sometimes can be a pain to find out what's the problem, because there's the app + all miners
Some time ago I had problem with phoenix miner with nicehash, I had to uninstall everything, install again and do all the exceptions

Another thing is windows 10 updates, sometimes my windows update itself and give me some errors

But if this app is working for you, keep using it

So far, no issues with it yet. It's giving around mid-10 MH/s but even if I found some better algorithm, that wouldn't matter much because of my card's property.

True that. Honestly I was hesitant on installing NH because previously I used another ETH miner but then the problems started showing up so yeah, that's how I ended up here.

You're still having issues with NH? There's BetterHash but I checked reviews and overall NH is still better, with the exception of the BTC payout.
