Title: The 'Game Of" How many BTC does it take to make $1,000,000 USD!
Post by: Searing on November 19, 2020, 10:24:45 PM
This thread is to take a poll of what/where you think the price of Bitcoin will go to price-wise. Crash? Pump? Beat the All-Time High?

So OK....I'll start this game. Post if you wish on whichever dubious direction Bitcoin takes in price after my thread  here has started...but the

premise is:

Currently, it takes xxxxxx amount of Bitcoin to be worth $1,000,000.00 USD (ONE MILLION DOLLARS!)

Someone should be able to just scroll through the thread in the above format and see how the price goes round and round day by day!

So let us see..where the 'bouncing' price goes! UP! Down! Sideways! All! (It could do all it is BTC by the by and very mysterious IMHO)

Post the current 'piece of time/date' below in the above format...and we will see how roundabout BTC goes price rise over the next days/weeks/months.

Thanks!

What about time zones, because I can see that your local time is not forum default?

Posters would have to agree to use a certain zone or write their zone in the post.

I am interested in this game in a few years, when the price of bitcoin will be much higher.

Yeah...I figure this thread will ebb and flow for posts depending on how silly or sad the BTC price gets...

but it has not even been 2 years from the low of BTC price of $3,285.57 BTC on December 16th, 2018

with the current price of

www.coinmarketcap.com (http://www.coinmarketcap.com)

Today's Date: 11/20/2020

I really, really, need to send it to those places that have 'Baby Shoes' Bronzed and do such with a plaque. :)

Well, not sure how long this is gonna last, usually (at least 3-4 times since I've been on since 2013.

note current FUD being tossed about to 'soften' FOMO.

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/12/04/top-currency-regulator-says-to-expect-clarity-in-coming-weeks-on-bitcoin.html (https://www.cnbc.com/2020/12/04/top-currency-regulator-says-to-expect-clarity-in-coming-weeks-on-bitcoin.html)

Whenever an All-Time-High the 'vested interests' in the 'status quo' ie: wealthy/bankers/Corporations put 'pressure' on

the government to regulate this 'evil' BTC/Crypto! In either an attempt to

limit BTC/Crypto's adoption or drop the price to they can more easily get into the action. Those that do not see the virtual

currency as a store of value, or how I like to think

of it as 'virtual land' limited to 21 million BTC, which reflects the price in the network as ie Bitcoin...

due to you can't print any more than 21 million of which 18.5 million

have already been made. Thus the FOMO of Grayscale buying 70% to 100% of all the equivalent mined BTC per day. Then double down and add PayPal doing the same, at

also around the equivalent of 70-100% mined coin per day. Of course, with NO one really dumping, the FOMO buzzer went off and the regulators were prodded out

to speak on such regulations to BTC/Crypto coming in 4-6 weeks or about 5 days before the Biden Administration is sworn in.

Thus, in my view, these 'regulations' even in good faith will likely be 'rushed' and need to be tweaked to work over the winter so if, in the past, we might be looking

at 13K BTC through winter before the ATH has broken again in say spring 2021. Such stuff can slow BTC/Crypto Adoption down..but can't really kill i

I was hoping for 20K BTC ..but I think we won't see that till Spring 2021 after 'digesting' whatever USA regulations coming down the pike. :(

Sorry end of rant...

So pretty much 'flat' since the last post on this thread of 12/2/2020.

Mt.Gox is going to 'supposedly' release $2.6 Billion USD worth of Bitcoin in the Mt.Gox Settlement from 2014 Crypto Exchange fail. :(

That is around 140,000 Bitcoin. Due to this being a settlement I believe under USA Tax Law there is now Cap Gains for it hitting your wallet.

I myself figure, if you were that early and adopter to be on Mt.Gox in 2014 you likely will HODL so no effect on Bitcoin price, but we will see! :)

According to coinmarketcap.com the total bitcoin trading volume over the past 24 hours was around $24 billion (BTC1.25 million). Granted most of is the fake volume that CMC reports and a lot of it is from altcoin trading but at least $10 billion of it is from actual bitcoin exchanges and is fiat volume.
I'd say a one time 140k bitcoin is a drop in this bucket and the only thing it could cause is a weak hand panic sell and nothing more. And that is not something we can predict. So far the market doesn't care.

Yeah, again I agree. The most likely, in my view, scenario is that the Mt.Gox Bitcoin will likely NOT be dumped out all at once.

Likely the Bitcoin will be moved over the period of a month or so, IMHO.

Also, again, IF you had Mt.Gox Bitcoin in their exchange (again, if you were gonna have any money in 2013 and 2014 it is 90% plus likely it would have been sitting

in the Mt.Gox Exchange, in that it was the most famous/first/and popular back when)  Anyway, if you were to have left what you considered BTC dust in this Mt.Gox

exchange, back in the day, I shudder to think of what BTC dust was at the date Mt.Gox locked up funds on February 7th, 2014. Wikipedia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mt._Gox (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mt._Gox)

The price of Bitcoin that day according to Coinmarketcap was www.coinmarketcap.com (http://www.coinmarketcap.com)

was $751.03...so indeed 1/2 a Bitcoin back then would be considered BTC dust indeed.

So, IMHO, in that 'no one' but early adopters had BTC in 2014, I'd guess, again, that most are HODL'ers still from way back when and wouldsimply HODL the coin.

Also, as you say, with the 'supposed' date of this being December 15th, 2020, or two days from Today...indeed..it seems no one cares.

Progress! Looks like I'm wrong, the FUD of Mt.Gox and 'supposed' USA new and dubious regulations on wallets seems to be not an issue on price at all!

Would be great to see another All-Time-High over $20,000.00 USD this year though. Crosses Fingers! :)

This was not even the "All-Time-High" today which according to www.coinmarketcap.com (http://www.coinmarketcap.com) was $21,458.91!

Fun Times. Always remember that All Time Highs (ATH) are due to FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) and then comes the say 35% correction, don't ya know! due to the FUD spread

by 'doubters'/'govt'/Traditional money/etc. So only 'spend' as much as you can afford to lose, or in my case, sell crap you will otherwise die with out of attic on eBay and convert

to BTC dust on www.coinbase.com (http://www.coinbase.com) or www.paypal.com (http://www.paypal.com) for fun and profit. Also, always keep at 'least' 5 years, if not 10 years in HODL mode. :)

So it goes!

Well, what a difference one day makes! The old yesterday on 12/16/2020 price I posted above $19,243.56 to the price as of this posting on today 12/17/2020 of $23,503.01 or

a difference in price of exactly $4,259.45  (sheesh!) ...gets the blood pumping. I may have to get a new FOMO song for such pumps my current FOMO and pump in Bitcoin
.
price song is "Secret Agent Man" (The lyrics fit quite well in HODL'ing BTC/Crypto of any kind!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGZ0ntpSx2Y (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGZ0ntpSx2Y)

So anyway, this is getting 'interesting'. Being Bitcoin and all there will be the 'someday' usual 35% correction, but I've no idea what the Bitcoin price will be until such happens...so ride

this horse till it dies I guess. :)

Zoom/Zoom/Zoom! :)

This is the perfect thread to post a comment on this. But did you know that in the last 24 hours, the amount of BTC addresses holding over $1 million dollars has doubled? Interesting isn't it? Does it mean that rich people are buying BTC over $20K and storing it on their wallets? No.

The reason why the amount of BTC addresses holding over $1 million has doubled is because all those original 50 BTC mined coins AND lost keys is finally valued over $1M. Its crazy how back then you could mine a block with a laptop and to be worth over $1M a little over a decade later. Too bad time machines don't exist.

Taking this further, according to Coinmarketcap www.coinmarketcap.com (http://www.coinmarketcap.com) the All-Time-High (ATH) was $23,586.21 USD!

So using the mechanism of this thread below:

Today's Date: 12/18/2020

From the current price from www.coinmarketcap.com.

Today's Time: See Forum Time On This Post!

Current Price: $23,586.21 USD. (again, if going by ATH idea)

Total BTC Needed:  42.40 BTC!

So that, with current All-Time-High (ATH) is the 'amount of' Bitcoin to beat, in our little game on this thread. :)

Also, looking at the above and 'doubling' the price, in my dreams, er..someday...

that would mean at $47,172.42 USD. and you'd only need 21.20 BTC to have $1,000,000 USD!

Sheesh! I just gave myself a little BTC 'woody' just now!

I will go 'out in a limb' and say that we won't hit the above $47,172.42 USD until 2021...but as I've been dead wrong all year about BTC and such

who knows. I still think we are gonna have pushback in regulations and other actions by the 'powers that be' of wealth and centralized money and power.

So I suspect the usual, eventual, 30-35% Bitcoin Price pullback. But at what price the All-Time-High (ATH) that this happens at I'm frigging clueless.

If it happened at the above ATH price again and at a worse case, IMHO, 35% drop the price of BTC would be $11,793.10 USD which would be 'still'

respectable for a years gain on any asset in that 1/1/2020 the price of BTC was $7,241.82 USD again using Coinmarketcap above link. That would still be

38.6% increase from 1/1/2020. Why anyone would put 'extra' money in the stock market on these returns, if they are speculating, is beyond me. So

again, even with such a 'dire' drop in Bitcoin price...it would 'still' kick ass! :)

Brad

p.s. added a poll to this thread on what people think of the BTC ATH this (ugly) year of 2020 will be!

We have 'slippage' from the new  ATH! (To be expected...will we get past the new ATH again, time will tell!)

www.coinmarketcap.com

So taking this further, according to Coinmarketcap the 'new' All-Time-High (ATH) was $24,053.25 USD! From 12/20/2010.

So using the mechanism of this thread below, the current price (see time/date on this post) is:

Today's Date: 12/21/2020.

From the current price from Coinmarketcap!

Today's Time: See Forum Time On This Post!

Current Price: $23,213.79  USD. Sheesh! What a ride so far!

Total BTC Needed:  43.08  BTC!

Considering the previous ATH was on 12/18/2020 and was $23,586.21 USD!

So 'unless' you are stuck on the last ATH of $24,053.25 (yesterday for crying out loud) 12/21/2020 and such makes you sad! (wimp)

we have not really lost in USD anything scary or drastic of any means.

So it goes. I do suspect the next two weeks the price of BTC/Crypto 'will' go down till about a week past New Years 1/1/2021

just because people/institutions/etc will be distracted by the Holidays. But I'd sure like to be wrong about such!

As always, 'Chump or Champ' or 'Doom or Boom' or 'Pump or Dump'

we all on Bitcointalk will be the 'first to know' :)

I 'was' thinking that we would go down over the Christmas and New Years Holiday. Right now I'm confused on what is going to happen. It

may be that the 'demand' for Bitcoin is just too high with GrayScale still going nuts this week!

https://beincrypto.com/grayscale-adds-3-billion-in-crypto-to-its-aum-in-one-week/

With also, PayPal and others and they may be trying to fill coffers out in 2020 in mass yet.

before some kind of consolidation or pullback on this fire sale buying of Bitcoin. The 'ways' of Bitcoin are mysterious to me! :)

But anyway, looking like, knock wood, probably 'jinx'ed' it by this post..that we may be in for another run up to above say $25k before the end of

the year...yeah, sorry, likely 'jinx'ed' the pump and it will dump now....but so it goes in the land of Bitcoin/Crypto! :)

Yeah, currently it is at the following and going up rapidly again...I mean I thought for 'sure' there would be a 'lag' or at least a sideways price on Bitcoin

through Christmas and New Year...or at least till like the middle of January say of 2021! I suppose there is time yet...but hardly anything like on 12/24/2018

I sold 13 BTC for real-life-issues (got 5 back but 8 down yet) for $3,900.00 USD. HAD to do so, allowed me with Altcoin dump to retire 3 years early and

hang out with my folks more regularly at the Assisted Living and eventual Nursing Home till they passed...but still...I mean really! Dang, that was only 2

years ago and 1 day! :(

So anyway, from what I can remember you don't see a pump on Xmas you see more of a sideways or a dump...if I remember correctly...so color me

confused. I suppose I should expect such with GrayScale Trust saying...screw that...and buying Bitcoin in mass 2 days ago.

https://coingape.com/grayscale-bitcoin-trust-gbtc-adds-12000-plus-btc-in-a-single-day-the-rally-has-begun/

I mean WTF! :)

Anyway, just an aside. I'll 'wait' till we push past (knock wood) $25K before 'posting' the supposed Bitcoin that would take for the next ATH...etc, etc.

A much better Xmas week than 2018...let me tell ya! (I still morn for my 'lost' 8 BTC I can likely 'never' recover at these prices...sigh..the horror...Ack!)

Brad

edit: by the by ...I really, really like the quote below from the link above:

quote:

JPMorgan's strategists write that the inflows into GBTC "are too big to allow any position unwinding by momentum traders to create sustained negative price dynamics." In other words, investor enthusiasm for GBTC shares is a determinant of Bitcoin's price trajectory, and other Bitcoin traders do not possess sufficient market share or Bitcoin holdings to influence a correction in the cryptocurrency’s price.

end quote.

Would be nice to see a FOMO continue past 50k don't ya think? Hurry up boys and girls the BTC rocket is heading to the moon, don't ya know...sh*t we have

not even 'delved' even a little bit into FOMO for the regular BTC investor..it is all institutional FOMO at this point....sheesh! :)

Institutional investors are just taking all the supply. What would normally be corrections in the past have just ended up being 1-3 day bear traps, like at $14k, $16k, $17k, $22k a couple times.

At this point I think it might not even ever go below $20k again - rather than expect a correction now I think we're gonna see a move up to around $30k in January. From what I'm reading from various sources there is a long line of institutional investors waiting to get in on Bitcoin through probably mostly GBTC but also stuff like the new SkyBridge fund and so on. Plus there's a couple large 9 digit buys I've read about coming up probably in the next month from companies or investment firms that have already stated their intention.

We're finally at the point where there just literally isn't enough Bitcoin to go around, and not because of a temporary FOMO main street frenzy, but just simply because the institutional class of investors is finally realizing they need to own Bitcoin and the sooner they buy the better, and they have just barely starting to come into the market. Rather than seeing a bubble start to form we're seeing a base rise because the economic/investment class that has all the money and has entirely ignored Bitcoin up until now is stepping in for the first time.

Source?

Funds don't usually talk about stuff like this until after they've bought. One River and Ruffer LLP bought in the fall. Microstrategy already spent all the cash they raised recently. Are there others I'm not thinking of?

We're finally at the point where there just literally isn't enough Bitcoin to go around, and not because of a temporary FOMO main street frenzy, but just simply because the institutional class of investors is finally realizing they need to own Bitcoin and the sooner they buy the better, and they have just barely starting to come into the market.

Yep, but don't assume that means there won't be deep corrections along the way.

Institutional investors are just taking all the supply. What would normally be corrections in the past have just ended up being 1-3 day bear traps, like at $14k, $16k, $17k, $22k a couple times.

I think I just saw "the mooch" Scaramucci or however you say his name, the owner of the new Skybridge bitcoin fund, say theirs loads of institutional investors lined up to get in.

haha yes that feeling that it can't go down! Well, I don't quite have that feeling. In fact I do think we'll have a correction in January, but I don't see any deep sustained correction happening soon. Maybe very briefly back under $20k, perhaps hitting $18k then spiking back up, and then settling in low 20s for a few weeks before moving back into price discover mode in February, that's kinda what I think we'll see. $30k in February.

my problem is all the BTC the majority of which was under $500 USD probably...so 15% cap gains and 10% state tax I'm pretty much maxed out as it all being cap gain taxed at

this point...also, timing when it will go down at least say 30% on a correction so I can buy back in real gains $$$/or BTC wise of 5%..naw....I'm not that good...so I just HODL

like it is ranchland in the 1960's next to Las Vegas...the 'relatives' and such can get this BTC/Crypto fairy dust/internet/fantasy/unicorn rainbow fart money someday and

blow it...I have traditional investments so I'm fine and next year soc sec of another 1.5k per month ...plus the 3 years early retirement do to bitcoin/crypto

so consider it a wash... I'll likely just let it ride wtf

as to the correction..oh yeah, BTC/Crypto will correct...it really likes 30-35% corrections with the occasional 75% slap down just to be spiteful...

so it is true...more than just GrayScale BTC and LTC funds are needed to float this boat up to 50K BTC.....we just have to wait and see if MORE institutional type

investments dive in and give this pump a floor of say $20k and next year a floor of say $50k etc..but other big players have to FOMO and hodler's have to hodl

and he common man also jumps in this fomo pool..or maybe 26k is the ATH for the next couple of years. But if the bubble pops at 50k and dumps 50% to 25k

I don't think I'll be crying much (knock wood)

In my own view it is possible that 'everyone' will have some real 'adulting' going on this winter of the pandemic when they see how messed up the Trump Admin

and the pandemic and the recession etc all made things a mess..I expect a 30-35% correction on frigging everything as people close in..I sure don't see a normal

70% consumer spending rate through the winter and they are printing $$$ like nuts....so that means the usual traditional investments that use bonds to

compensate say through a 5-7 year recession if we had one won't cut it...thus bitcoin..but even bitcoin will get hit by this I think...people may want to buy

BTC ..but with a job loss and pandemic, you may not have enough extra $$$ to do so ..even as a play with some as a BTC dust play...I know the feeling

so the 'big suck' may come this winter until summer and the pandemic is licked and maybe folk have some hope for change..hell BTC may do just fine

in all this drama..I'm just saying 12k BTC again would not I feel likely, but I'd hardly be shocked.

All pretty heady stuff for a guy who mined his first BTC on October 18th, 2013 at $150 USD (I checked that day).....but hey, the last 7 years have been

more than interesting indeed. So again, the bubble will pop to 30-50 and maybe 75 percent down...myself,,, I would have bet 18k to 12k ..now I'm utterly clueless

an't this 'pucker' factor just loads of fun for when the shoe drops! (not!) :)

Today's Date: 12/26/2020.

From the current price from Coinmarketcap!

Today's Time: See Forum Time On This Post!

Current Price: $27,610.20 USD.

Total BTC Needed:  36.22 BTC!

Well, to say that things are getting interesting is an 'extreme' understatement indeed! Is not this time of the year 'supposed' to be dull as dishwater? I mean 2 years and 2 days

ago I dumped 13 Bitcoin (got back 5 since then other 8 lost to me...sob! Real-Life-Issues...suck) at almost exactly $3,900.00 per Bitcoin. (Still too soon, hurts so bad, damn it!) :(

So ya got to say from $3,900 12/24/2018 to $27,610.20 12/26/2020 indeed... 'quite' the improvement! :) or 7.0795 times the $3,900 2018 price above or 707.95% increase in

two years. So if you HODL long term, with this kinda thing in mind, and only spend what you can afford to lose and always remember it is 'speculation' not investment..a person

could probably long term 5-10 years learn to deal with 35% or 50% or gasp 75% dumps and corresponding pumps...silly hobby huh?

Before the 'bit' of correction and profit sharing we had in price from 12/26/2020 till 12/27/2020.

I figured I'd do the calculations for the ATH on Coincoinmarketcap on 12/26/2020 www.coinmarketcap.com

I 'suspect' this ATH may last 'at least!' a week! (Snicker!). But in that Christmas is over, I 'suspect' more than a bit of profit

taking and the price going down till a week or so into January 2021. Then again, I've not been right on 'any' predictions these last 6 months either.

So below, is going from the info of the previous and new now ATH:

Today's Date: 12/26/2020.

From the current price from Coinmarketcap!

Today's Time: See Forum Time On This Post!

Current Price: $28,288.24 USD.

Total BTC Needed:  35.35  BTC! For 1,000,000.00 USD!

Again, using this latest 12/26/2020 ATH!

So it goes.

Brad

edit: I wonder how frigging long this ATH will last. With all the FOMO from Institutional Money...they may just have at it again on this latest dip and it will

be rinse/wash/repeat. Always remember Bitcoin is a 'treacherous' wench! We have had what, several 75% dumps in the price of BTC due to threats by

governments and regulations and exchanges going 'poof'. I just wonder how high the price will be if such happens. Whoever linked Bitcoin to massive

unregulated land speculation like in 1890's United States...sure pegged this correct! Boom! Bust! Repeat! Indeed! :)
