This bull market feels different than the one on 2017 or may be its because I was not into crypto on 2016 and this is just the start of the bull market, sometimes I think its the case the main reason is because Bitcoin and the rest of the market has not even got to all time highs and a question that always come up is "Will Altcoins reach all time highs?".

Different from 2017 there were not that many altcoins and its my impression from the market that some of the OG altcoins that have been dropping since then are not really performing and part of the crypto enthusiast see them as they wont reach all time highs, IN MY OPINION not all altcoins will reach all time highs but some of them will, in crypto its hard to tell what coins will go to new all time highs because different from other markets its purely based on the tech and not on profits generated from the "token" but that's starting to change with DeFi because now those platforms can be evaluated based on the amount of assets they hold, other types of tokens or coins are still hard to evaluate.

**I do not hold all the tokens I'm going to list**

Here a list of coins that I'm invested back from 2017, not that I'm holding since then but are from those times, this coins may go up to new all time highs.

- Binance Coin
- OMG
- DigiByte
- Horizen
- Waves
- Cardano

Q: Why is this list so short?

A: Most coins would have to do over 10x in a single year and it will depend on how much NEW MONEY will enter the market because then it runs out, the amount of money in the market or participants will be too thin.

I came up with this short list from going through nomics.com top 250 coins, most of the coins from 2017 probably have to do over 15x to get to all time high levels, not that its impossible after all the amount of volatility seen on the crypto market has no comparison so we never know how high a coin can go but the reason why I'm writing about this is mainly because I know there are some people out in the market holding since 2017 some coins that may actually not make it to all time highs and a golden rule of investing or trading is cut your looses quick. Some aspects of crypto that I think are weak or dead are staking coins and masternode coins, this are sections of crypto that has become very weak overall and have be surpass by others like DeFi.

What I have been doing lately is focus on new coins, when I say new coins I'm not talking about obscure tokens or pre sales, I'm talking about coins from the last two years that have potential and better if they already have a working product, I may take a risk here and there but my strategy is different that what I did on 2017 main reason is because now I know how risky is to invest on pre sales or coins nobody knows, yes you will find that GEM that you get in first and make a ton of money IF everything goes well so I'm trying to take away or reduce the "IF" and going with projects that have been innovating since 2017 but also keep performing in price and this is hard because even the small list of coins I post above most of them went down over 80% since the previous bull market but they are not too far from that all time high target and don't have to do above 10x to get there, I still believe there is still plenty of time for this projects to get there.

This list is way larger and its not all, there are many new projects that are very exiting and will keep thriving, same as the bull market is just starting I believe the DeFi season we had a few months ago is just the start, different than the ICO area DeFi has products as I mention before something that financial entities can now will be able to evaluate same as traditional companies get evaluations, DeFi is an experiment that is just starting and a new wave of this projects will come up.

Keep in mind that this is just my opinion and I could be totally wrong about some of this coins, after all there are thousands of coins out there that will pump like crazy on next altcoin season and this is just my perception of the market based on news and price actions of some of this coins. I know the expectations of most people is that altcoins will do all time highs same as Bitcoin will but first the market need new blood new participants then more money can flow into altcoins once Bitcoin takes a break and the rest of the market start to move as fast or even faster than Bitcoin just be very selective in the projects you put your money in.

There is a change of your coins from 2017 and to this date. I guess we have the same taste in investing way back then but it didn't change up to this moment.
The wave from the defi is also important for investors to check out which will be their next choice of altcoins. But I'm confident that in all of them, Ethereum will be getting back its glory.

The next pump for altcoin will be even bigger than 2017's pump. Bitcoin was getting a very big pump caused by it has a very strong fundamental started from bitcoin being used by a lot of big name as investment. This is definitely affecting the bitcoin.
Altcoin could have a very big pump in the future. I believe if it will be more than what it was before. The golden time for altcoin will come. The defi trend is not so strong as it was before.
It's better to buy the promising coins that have fully working product.

That is the magic word here, coins that have fully working product. Look for projects that have actual use case and as much as possible with high number of users. Because the life of a particular project depends on how they are attracting users to utilize their platfom. Without their customers, the platform will not generate income. So look for coins or tokens that are heavily used by their respective customers. It is better if their use case is dedicated to be used in every day living of a regular crypto user, this will make a good adoption in the crypto industry.

Sleeper staking projects will have a much higher increased compared to every other altcoins. Big players entering the market want to gain passive income in the crypto form. Currency that gains no interest over time will give much smaller return over the next decade. For example, coins like RADS, ADA and ETH (after POS starts) will skyrocket more over the next decade than other POW coins or other tokens.

Big change in the market in comparison to the year 2017. By then the number of cryptocurrencies found was quite around 2500. Now this has been reaching close to 8000. The market widening can be known through this increase, and there is better understanding about the growth and risks.

People never get into any form of hype. During 2017 the growth of ICO's played a big role in the market pumping of altcoins. This time it was defi, but we haven't got any effective output till now. Ethereum 2.0 is expected for the pumping of altcoins, hope something big happens with altcoins as well.

What output do you expect? I think Defi already brings a big output. It is about another spirit of people to support the crypto world. Regarding ETH 2.0, let's wait for the impacts. It shouldn't bring impacts suddenly. It needs time to show people the difference between ETH 2.0 and the previous version. However, ETH 2.0 can rise people's interest in crypto anymore, especially in ETH.

I am not certain that the entire altcoin market will rise as there are many dead coins but the top coins will have a huge stride and with the way the market is moving anyone who invested a year back will be reaping a substantial profit. I was expecting a correction a while back but to my surprise the market keeps on rising without showing any signs of weakness.

I'm partly in support of your view, but cryptocurrency industry is quite unpredictable that I cannot fully back your projection. However, I I'm also eyeing some of those altcoins you mentioned. Already, I'm a big fan of Aave, Kybernetwork, and Cardano. I believe they will perform beyond expectation in 2021.

We can only wait and see. There are already altcoins which have been soaring really high for the past weeks. But still the strongest right now is Bitcoin so it is normal that altcoins' rally will not be as strong as Bitcoin. But who knows what happens to them when Bitcoin creates an all time high? Perhaps a lot of Bitcoin owners will sell some for altcoins. When Bitcoin corrects the altcoins will receive the money diverted.

People are wants to see the value of the altcoins just like in 2017 because right now the value of the bitcoin is near to the ATH so crypto user are expecting will rise the altcoins a lot but it's not happen . Maybe  next year the value of the altcoins will increase very high befause every things need time to improve again . Don't rely to the bitcoin of the movementfor the price of the altcoins they have differences also.

Based on what I read on many opinions and predictions from different public personalities and somewhat called them as crypto experts the next bull run coming has a big difference compared to what happened last 2017, this time Wall street traders and institutional players are entering bitcoin now this is really a huge money coming into crypto and everyday we can see a huge market cap in cryptocurrency within the next year I hope we can expect more volume added everyday the last bull run we saw will be like a very tiny chart compared to what is coming we have to be ready adoption from every corners of the world are slowly happening stay updated.

Staying affirmative on some of coins bought early and looking forward for some good run to happen in altcoins. Currently the altcoins season has not yet started it seems due to which some coins inspite of renowned coins are falling and also buying at dips is good thing since once it starts to rise it will be rising very quickly.

All coins in your list are very strong, stable and all have the chance to cost even more. When I look back in 2017, there was great potential if the right trend could be identified in time. But, the opportunities still exist because the market has changed a lot since 2017 and is still going to change

Bitcoin have receiving a great pump & probably all time high. Next pumped in altcoin in 2021 is not possible as i think. Because of fake ICO/ICO/ido etc. This are the biggest culprit that doesn’t letting or giving opportunity to price up the main altcoin.

I think that ethereum, binance will increase. For digibyte, waves, cardano, maybe that coin can have the opportunity to grow again after it reached the highest price in 2017.
I am not sure about the new coin or token, but I think some of the new coins can increase too, although we don't know when it will grow and what coin can increase.
The token such as Uni, Sushi, Kyber, and Polkadot also have the opportunity to increase in the next altcoins season, but we need to be patient to wait for that time.
But I think this altcoin season will not be the same as what we saw in 2017 because bitcoin will break more than $20k, and that can lead the altcoin to rise so high.

There are some speculations from big companies such Citibank claiming that the Bitcoin may reach $318,000. Well it's great since people are positive about the price of Bitcon let's just wait for what will happened I hope they're true about this.

At least the whole of 2020 was full of new forecasts regarding the prospects for the cryptocurrency market. Fully agreed with you we could see this happening in term of dollar cost average not in satoshi. This time smart involve in it and they are only investing in BTC so we have pretty low chance to see that kind of pump again but in term of USD this would be much bigger than the last altseason.

I also look at utility as well. Is there a reason why people would buy that token? I mean if it is just "it is such a great coin that people will want to buy it" that means I am going to stay away from it. However, if there is a reason like "buy our token and use it to build this or play that or create these" type of situation where people have a "reason" to buy that token, I will be interested in it.

I am not saying that is the only reason, there needs to be some request to it as well, look at all the collectibles world for example, it is filled with projects that basically creates some reason to buy it, but there is no request to it so it becomes worthless once again. Cryptokitties once suppose to worth something, now they worth less than what the fee costs to sell them.

I can sense the year for altcoin season is year 2021 so the best move these days when price is low is to accumulate some altcoin to hold in our portfolio. Yes this year is bitcoin which we can observe the price is on the rise. And also never invest if there is no working product on the said project and always do some research prior investing.

Yes, it looks like there is really no more altcoin season happening. The altcoin market has somewhat matured so to speak. There are altcoins which are rising. The likes of XRP, ADA, EOS, DOGE, etc are having some nice double digit growth while the rest are in red. This means altcoins are not moving as one anymore. Each of them are independently rising and falling probably based on their individual demand and development.

If you are convince with particular project that you will going to support then that's
right the best time is to buy while the price still down, accumulating more coins from

One way or another, it is Bitcoin that is a real indicator and benchmark for the entire cryptocurrency market. Bitcoin is moving up and altcoins are following. It looks like some of them are already trying for that, many of them are just x3 away from ATH and that is not really that incredibly in altcoin world. I have seen plenty of altcoins make x3 just this year, with one more year under their belt they could certainly break their all time high.

I can't guarantee anything because they had a great year this year and that means they could have a very bad year next year, who knows?

But at least it looks possible more than ever and that is why I believe it is quite important that we stay hopeful about all time high for altcoins. I don't think this is a good time for the top altcoins. Bitcoin's price increase is due to its halving and it is the only asset that can reduce inflation if more people buy and hold it like gold.
For that reason, the world's major financial institutions like Grayscale and MicroStrategy already have a long-term hold strategy with tens of thousands of Bitcoins. But be aware that the cash flow is only flowing strongly into Bitcoin, altcoins are only slightly up and even altcoins bleed. This is not a positive sign that the value of the top altcoins will fly high in the coming months :)

I disagree, so far the evidence does not support the theory that the pump that were going to see for altcoins is going to be even bigger than the one that we saw in 2017, and for that you just need to take a look at bitcoin, the price of bitcoin is very close to its ATH and where it is ethereum? The price of ethereum is roughly only a third of what it was back then and since ethereum is the most influential altcoin we can actually say that the interest in altcoins is roughly 1/3 of what it was in 2017 and that is not a good sign for altcoins.

i believe a very big pump on altcoins will come, but not all altcoins my friend, because a lot of altcoins will die too if bitcoin price break its ATH
and only good alts will survive and growing in the future and shitcoins will die

this year is the year for bitcoin but next year is the year for all good cryptocurrency,

coinporch, this year market momentum is not very big pump as you claimed because the pandemic issue still affect the market surge and it will be next year before we can see outstanding surge in price.

The public face shouldnt be used to determine the right coins for investment because there is alot of coins that have public face in their team but they are not doing well in the market while theres project with no public face and they are accomplishing  goodies beautifully. However, public faces is just a hype used by shitcoin these days McAfee habits in promoting coins is an example.

We cannot know that for sure, this year has been great for bitcoin and I think we are all happy about what it is happening, even if currently there is an important decrease on the price, but next year things could be completely different, for example what if the stock market keep growing and institutional investors see in the short term they have better chances to make money there? They are going to delay entering this market and with a reduced demand it will be impossible to maintain the current price of bitcoin.

The price of altcoin will increase like a stream from the hot vessel. The hot vessel will be the bitcoin for sure. Whenever the price of bitcoin had heated up, it's steam will reflected in the price of altcoin.Now their was a dump in the market.

i hope this is not a trend change or reversal, but only a corrections and after hit a strong support we will see another rally on all good cryptocurrency project

its not reserval only normal correction that common happen after price strongly  move. if we look price history in this months, its raise extremely. based on coinmarketcap data , 30 days low on around $12k and highest price on around  $19k. its represent how hot money finally come to crypto market again , its good sign for crypto future caused many finance firm finally allocate fund to invest in crypto market.

I have no idea what is healthy these days. TVL is like so hard to really see when project owners also can do it on their own (Create TVL and as much wrapped tokens as they want). And then all the boosted yields in the beginning seems fun until actual market price starts to suffer from early stakers ending.

Given the fact that from the summer of 2020 to November, Bitcoin rose from $ 9,000, practically to $ 19,200, and at the same time the altcoin only recently started to move, then I very little believe that altcoins will make a splash next year even if Bitcoin actively rushes up again.

I can believe a little, because currently the Bitcoin price is also still above $ 16k,
and the price of the Bitcoin Altcoin pair is very cheap, of course this makes whales enter in altcoins easily,

Soon after the market dropping low in 2018 people believed it to be a correction. Majority of the users missed the opportunity and finally understood the market has turned bearish. Later the growth was expected big with ethereum and other altcoins in the market. More speculation and discussions took place relative to the altcoin pumping. Nothing happened big, and the same got carried forward for the year 2019 mentioning it as the year of altcoins. That year too no big growth, so we can't get into a conclusion about the altcoins high value. It all happens suddenly, we need to be prepared holding good by the time of dips.

This year can be said to be a year of recovery so it makes sense that 2021 is predicted to reach a new ATH, it is not an exaggeration to expect that either, because high values will not happen quickly. Yes it is highly expected that altcoins will be making new all time highs with big peaks by end 2021 or start 2022. Ethereum could pump over 5k, ada over $5 and trx over $2, atleast this is what i am personally expecting.

Many people are still hoping that next year will be the year of altcoins. There are so many altcoins out there that are very promising. I have some in my wallet. And if they will go up high next year. It will be a good payday for me.

Right now the altcoin market is in a fairly positive trend and hopefully it will continue until 2021, but I don't dare say that 2021, is the year of alt coins because learning from the experience there are many people who predict that 2019 will be the golden year of crypto like This was the case in 2017, but in fact we can see how 2019 seems to be a nightmare for traders as well as investors who continue to experience losses because most of the years the market is red. Celsius network has had an excellent performance in the last few months, lots of users have come to join them too. Chainlink and Polkadot will also be a very good value coin, they both have very significant performance and devlopment. 2021 will be the year for altcoins if all the projects show a real use case

But people shouldnt really expect that much because altcoin market neither would show up some light on next year or on next next years to come.No one really knows but
for those people who do tend to make some allocation into altcoins then it isnt really a bad choice but be sure that you had chosen the best ones or to those whom you

Market can switch up because bitcoin market might really be going on the flip side and then it flows through alts or both would correlate to each other

2021 indeed many talk about altcoin season, yup if 2021 is altcoin season,
of course this can happen, Bitcoin price has also reached more than $ 16000, so bulls still dominate the market,
but remember the price might dump again, and you must observe it before buying.

Before altcoin season it will be BTC bullish first. Its indicated by some good news on twitter that someone twitted about institusional entity will enter the market, even though the buying is not BTC spot price but they buting GBTC it's still give the market movement. And of course bullish. And after btc bullish we will see another Alt season.

I think it will be difficult to predict, many believe it will overtake ATH this year and i also believe in this because the whole market is going up, even if the market has fallen for the last few days i think the uptrend is still going on. And our beliefs can come true in 2021 when altcoins will overtake ATH and create new ATH.

Expectations are not actually bad thing as long as the expectation should be attainable and not considered as impossible because there are some people out there who keep thinking being rich quickly where they want to see their coins to be x100 in just weeks or months. ATH for the altcoins are possible as long as the current trend will stay intact, there are now few altcoins that are making move so be careful and be a good watcher because the altcoin season are suddenly coming so for me it is now better to prepare strategies if you want to grab those rare chances.

It looks like it is not going to be impossible. If you think 2020 was a good year, you are very wrong and you will realize it very soon. This year has been one of the worst years in the financial world and crypto increased anyway without caring about whats going on in the world, normally everyone would have expected it to go down whereas it did just the opposite.

2021 will be the year when everything will get better, pandemic will probably slow down or even maybe end, and phase 2 will get closer for ETH and there will be ton more development improvements as well. So long story short we are doing pretty well right now and we will continue to do very well too. It is just going to take a bit of time and I think in 6 months or so we will see ATH from many projects.

Of course what you are saying is very true and I agree with what you are saying, that altcoins will move up quite well in 2021. but I believe that the ones who will enjoy the increase are for the top-ranking altcoins, not the new altcoins. growing, it is very difficult for new tokens to grow even though it could happen if the team works well.

Well, we’ve touch the all time high for bitcoin and there’s a chance that we go beyond that this year and I’m also confident that altcoins will do the same thing, the bull trend will come and we can’t stop that. I’m holding good altcoins and that’s why I’m hoping that the uptrend will come before the year end or early next year.

This year is bitcoin's year back and altcoins will do the same thing next year. I also hold some altcoins, most of which aren't in the top but I also believe they will bring a lot of surprise in 2021.

It's just a disgusting scenario as I seen most of my alts asset were really turning down low, and as btc pumped higher alts also tend to go down badly. You're partly right that's it's dying and I don't know when it would be risen from it's long time of being asleep. Hopefully, it would remarkably be doing good this coming 2021 and so on.

Currently, in this bull run market I see the altcoin price movement is depend on bitcoin price movement when its price dump. I mean, I often see when bitcoin price meet a correction almost altcoin price meet a correction as well but when bitcoin price drastically increase almost altcoin price just increase slowly even some of them just met a correction. If this continue, we will never see the new all time high for all altcoin price unless their price movement same with bitcoin. 

Probably one of the first times that a news event pumping the price was actually relevant, as it meant that in the weeks to come paypal would start buying bitcoin en mass for their clients who want a slice of the pie now. At least from what I understand about paypal/square/cashapp/greyscale accumulation right now, it's nearly 2x the daily mined supply.

Before talking about the market growth or bull run during 2017 and that of this current one which everyone is anticipating on, there is need to understand that, both era are different, that is, hype played a very major role then with most coins pumping hard but nowadays that won't be the case, that is, it will be based majorly on use case or working product. So talking about All Time High by 2021, I think only few altcoins will experience this and from your list coins such as Ethereum, Binance Coin and Cardano, also I think some Defi projects with good and working products will likely experience it as well, but might not be that huge. On the other hand, most altcoins with little to nothing to offer will only keep declining in price because there is every possiblity that investors will dump for a more better option or altcoin.

That's because of Bitcoin dominance it will always have an impact as long as Bitcoin dominance is that higher maybe when Bitcoin dominance is lower than 30% then the price of some of the altcoins will not be pegged in Bitcoin anymore but on dollar, but it will take years before that happen.

Anyway, Bitcoin is the leader of the cryptocurrency market in all respects and its dominance in the market is almost irresistible. Even the closest competitor, Ethereum, lags far behind. Nevertheless, Bitcoin and Ethereum are more in demand for investors than other altcoins. There is no need to have high hopes for altcoin anytime soon.

But I do have high hopes for some altcoins like Ripple Tron Eos among other altcoins that are on the top 10, just don't mind coins that are beyond 30 although these coins have good potential we should be in a safe zone when investing if you are not whales.
I don't look down on altcoins but they have to prove themselves and come out with a good and unique platform and they should have a strong community, these are the ingredients of a highly potential coin in the market.

Bitcoin is not showing good support to create a big pump to make bitcoin can surpass 20k rate.

I think this is not possible for many coins. Too many coins have entered the market in the last 3 years. If all of them do ath, dominance will drop very much. I think it's impossible.

I don't think so. You should watch the latest news about bitcoin. Some may have the different opinion. Last day bitcoin got dumped again to the below 18k but it can recover again just in a few hourse after the dump. 20k is a very difficult target for bitcoin right now, we will have another pressure come from the mtgox. I doubt a pump will happen with bitcoin to make bitcoin will surpass 20k.

Just read the first post few times and still dont clearly understand why would altcoins reach ATH exactly in 2021, but not in 2022 or 2025? Just because Bitcoin's price went up and updated its ATH, altcoin season must start and update their ATH too? That is quite primitive logic. Still so many altcoins are so deep in price from ATH and most of them did not release anything valuable, that reaching ATH in 2021 is under a big question.

Retail investors always like to invest in altcoins at the moment there is no fomo even it is still early phase of the year. BTC is moving forward very strong with support of big players and this growth could bring positive impact on altcoins too but only promising projects will follow it who still have working product and big community behind it.

But it fall back as crypto market going through a correction. Though agree with you that altcoins will individually touch new ATH this time. All coins won't flow together. I think slowly over the years Bitcoin correlation has gotten weaker and weaker with other markets. It does its own thing. But crypto is still defined overall by Bitcoin,,, good Bitcoin adoption is good for crypto, and people still use BTC to buy alts, which is always going to help push alts up. I mean, look at the rally now and see the effect already.

Bitcoin  is enough and we don't actually need altcoins existence and the job had already been done by btc itself and I wont be surprised that sooner or later these alts would really cease to exist.
Correlation is somewhat had been always an issue for some people where they do make out their own decisions varying on the market trend which we had seen that its been numerous times
on how bitcoin didn't really able to correlate with alt prices and does really move on its own.It doesn't need anything for it to move on and same goes with alts but most of the time
it had been driven with Bitcoin market that's why people do make out presumptions basing off on market trend.

actually altcoins cannot be predicted in 2021 whether they can experience the highest point or not, but we can be optimistic because we see that at the end of 2020 it can experience a significant increase. but if the price of all coins in the crytpo market can stabilize maybe 2021 will be higher than 2020. but all that must need concrete evidence of the crypto price in 2021

Bitcoin high pump give signal that altcoin price will pump higher in 2021 than 2017. We already observe how fast eth price pump from 600$ to 1200$ only in week at the end of December.
Now we will  all altcoins price pump in 2021. Polkadot already crossed 12$ , BNB also hot 42$ even doge coin also pumped 100%

That is not the case, bitcoin pumping means alts pumping, bitcoin crashing means alts crashing. People didn't learn this for the past 1 year which makes me very sad because that means there are tons of people who lose money from crypto as well if they can't understand this simple thing. Look at 2020 for example, bitcoin price went up right?

Well eth, ltc, bnb, ada, and many others went up as well, which means when bitcoin went up, altcoins went up in 2020 right? They really did, you can literally check the price if you want to there is nothing hidden, everything went up. Look at 2018 , bitcoin went down and all alts went down too, ethereum bottomed at 80 dollars for a while, that is record low I have seen after the increase. So long story short if bitcoin dumps, that doesn't mean alts will go up, it means alts will start to go down as well because they move together.

If we saw the cycle altcoin season will come in early 2022 not 2021, and 2021 is the time for bitcoin to goes up first before altcoin season. Thats why i am accumulating altcoin now and buying legit ICO as much as i can. The most valuable project for me is XSL labs and MYID ( for new token project )

the market is already strong and we won't see the excessive panic that occurred in 2018, for the altcoin list it deserves to be followed.
only eligible altcoins deserve ATH, the rest is for pump and dump.

But definitely cardano is one of those who will take ATH this year as the rally started earlier last year of 2020.

It is undeniable that 2021 is the year of altcoins, where most of the altcoins reached their ATH in that year, but it is not impossible that in 2022 the price of altcoins is higher than the year before, considering that most altcoins already have very strong fundamentals.  because the users are increasing, even though at the beginning of 2022 the crypto market is still not recovering from the slump, but if you look at the market cycles that have occurred, it is likely that altcoins will increase again.
