What's happening today is very exciting. Seems like it's the beginning of a new cycle. It's now just about 4% away from its all-time high.

Really seems like a new bull run for bitcoin this time after it's value declined to ~$16,000 recently. Exciting to see if bitcoin will reach it's new ATH or maybe even just reach it's current ATH tomorrow, December 1 (which will come few hours from now), pretty good to start the last month of the year 2020 if that will happen tomorrow.

~ guess bitcoin will hit 35,000$ by 2021

Not yet safe to say, let's see first what does this month have for bitcoin. My guess is, bitcoin will reach $24,000 before this year ends though.
I'm excited to witness what will happen next! ;D

Maybe it will be a little insane to reach that price, but I am very happy that today a new history is made, a new ATH is created. Hopefully this price will continue to rise as predicted by many people. I think BTC support is at $ 19,200 if it is strong they will try to break the $ 20,000 mark again. But if the first support breaks the price will return to $ 18,000. IMO

I hope so. The bitcoin market in late 2020 and early 2021 will be very exciting, as the bull market is coming. 2021 is the year for the crypto community to rejoice.

Tomorrow is the first day of the December which is the last month of the year and I think it will grow the value of the bitcoin. It's very near to the ATH and we are exciting again to reach it.

Hitting the ATH means its worth to wait for the people who have a lot of patients because they are going to earn more money which is their reward. But for those people who sell their bitcoin already get nothing and their realize of what they lose so lesson learn better to wait to know the result.

It was close just before friday when it was rallying up against the $20,000 wall but it began to drop steadily since to reach back down to $16,000 very quickly therefore after.
But this time it's rise is due to retailers offering their products for cybermonday so it is different with more people looking towards bitcoin to make their purchases thus having more of the cryptocurrency in current use more frequent than last week.

The ATH was just over $21,000 so it would need that extra push to get there if it was done today.

Exciting times for all who are involved in cryptocurrency in one way or another indeed! ;D

Bitcoin Monthly close is too close. Just a few hours away to close this month. If Bitcoin keeps bullishness we may break the new ATH and create another new ATH. We can also break the 20000$ level. I am too excited. I am also excited to see the dump also. Because many investors will try to book profit.

Yes but it has bounced back a bit. There is a resistance between $19,5-20k as there are many sell orders in that range. Above 20k there aren't nearly as many so I think once we pass that mark we will get easily to 25k or so.

Yes, interesting events are taking place on the cryptocurrency market!

On November 30, 2020, the bitcoin price updated its all-time highs.  According to the CoinGesco service, the price of the first cryptocurrency reached the price of $ 19,686 (super!).  On December 16, 2017 (former ATH), bitcoin price was $ 19,665.  Thus, today, November 30, 2020, is a historic day in the history of Bitcoin.

Congratulations to all members of the forum!

It is very interesting how events will develop in December 2020 ... Intrigue ...

The way bitcoin add up $2000 in 24hr still amazes me, It has repeated this over in the year, A coin that struggle to retain $1000 for over 2 years. It gives me an Idea of what will happen in coming months, whenever I see $10k in a day then we should be close to the new ATH. There is a small pull back at the moment which I think wont last a while before we see a standing $20k from all exchanges

Wow... Happy days are back finally people were desperately waiting for this moment and this will happen for sure hopefully it will break ATH by tomorrow, there were lot of speculation on BTC price couple of days ago as the price may go down but it turned out to be absolute gem and came back stronger, I am pretty confident that it will reach atleast 24k in my opinion let's wait and see.

You can guess but no one can tell what exactly will happen , I will take profit once we reach 25k$ and then will wait for another good entry to enter in Bitcoin I am not saying it's difficult to get in 35k$ but it's better to always take your profit Everytime you hit your target and then accumulate again when there is price correction.

That's a better way to earn more Bitcoin in trading .

Long live the king of the cryptocurrencies! :D

It's very exciting to live during times of revolutions, especially at a global level. I'm curious to see how the market will behave once we enter the price discovery made. The last ATH should transform in a strong support zone IMO and the institutions will drive the price significantly higher, and then followed by the crowd.

Will the price of bitcoin keep going up as people get excited about the fact that bitcoin finally surpassed its ATH or this is going to be the beginning of the end for this trend and people will begin to sell their coins thinking a  crash is coming and this will create a massive decrease in the price similar to what we saw in 2017.

I was there watching it get to 19900 on bitmex and I haven't slept yet as I believe we are going to hit a new one any time soon. The market is bullish and every of the indicators are showing a price trend to 21K+. People are not selling in hope of getting a better price and I too increased my holding just in case there is the ultimate run.

Another December month and we were very close to see another new ATH by bitcoin. It was so close of it’s previous price. But now dumped to again 19200$ . But if the cycle continues we can see a new ath by bitcoin soon hopefully. My prediction is around 27-28000$ price by December month if the bull run continues.

Yes, we have been waiting for these events for three whole years, and they happen again in December.  However, this time we still have a whole month of December ahead.  How high the price of bitcoin can rise before the end of this year.  Also tomorrow, the launch of the zero phase of Ethereum 2.0 improvements is scheduled and if it is successful, then this can also push the price growth in the market.  Well, we look forward to tomorrow.

bitcoin is going to ATH, and I was very surprised to see bitcoin price hit $ 19900, will bitcoin hit a price of $ 25000 and set a new all-time record, we'll just watch and hope it happens, but I would rather trade scalping than Holding because I think the profit is more  rather than holding back .. and it looks like other altcoins are also experiencing a pretty good rise.

This was expected as even last week Bitcoin came so close to it's ATH but missed out by few hundred dollars but today it made it and soon Bitcoin will be in $20,000 club which was predicted whenever there used to be a pump fo few hundred dollars in the value of Bitcoin. This is going to be a start of new era and hopefully there wouldn't be any further corrections this week as we already had one last week and there needs to be a resistance at $19,000 in order to make strong prediction about further growth.

The price of Bitcoin now at this moment is  19,300$, this is very close to ATH, this matter was expected and not surprising because many are expecting it and waiting for it and now the moment has come, it is also expected that Bitcoin will continue to rise towards new highs and far exceed the old peak.
Some predictions go far in optimism and they expect the price of Bitcoin to reach  50,000$. For me, I don't see that at the moment, but I am not surprised that Bitcoin will reach this number in the future.

The market price is just unpredictable.
We have seen somewhat of a price correction recently which gave doubt to many investors whether to keep holding or to sell already. Some did panic with the situation and some remained calm. Then in a sudden the price is again in the $19k mark which brought back the idea and chance for a new ATH to be achieved for this year. So yea, the market right now gives us excitement and there is a huge tendency for things to occur in line with what was expected for this year's history.

There's indeed a possibility for some investors to do so because of fear from what happened before. But I guess there's no need yet to do so especially if there's still a momentum in its market value which could yield to higher market value and profit. Once things stabilises, that would be the time where actions has to be made in my opinion because we have never seen a market value higher than ATH, which gives us no idea or assurance to how high will its market price could be. Ofcourse if you can afford holding no matter what happen next, that would be better.

Bitcoins pullback was great now I am just hoping that it will break the $20k-$20.5k mark this week in order for it to rise even more. The whole market is unpredictable last week we dropped to $16.9k can't wait for the new ATH record of bitcoin.

Surely many holders will sell out their bitcoins when the new ATH is hit, I'm one of them. That's what we've been waiting for 3 years.
A crash/dip will be predictable if bitcoin will reach a new ATH but surely it will not take long for bitcoin to pump a little more than its previous ATH.

Bitcoin will soon reach ATH this year. Now the Bitcoin price is almost close to the ATH price, like before the weekend the

Let us al already claim that it actually landed another ATH this year. Congratulations to those people whp persevered and hodled from last 2017's price dump and believed that the coin will come out on top! We can eveb expect it to raise higher since we still have the up until December for this year, so that means a lot of money for a lot of people! Though the downsides of all of this is of course, the huge transaction fees we have to pay to cash out.

As we have seen during the last few days, the resistance level at $20,000 looks very strong. I won't be surprised if we witness another bout of major correction (where the prices decline by 20% or more), before we are able to breach the 20K level. My guess is that a lot of people have set their selling target at $19.5K-$20.0K and this prevents the exchange rates from rising fast.

The resistance at $20k is holding the price strongly however with all the positive fundamental news surrounding bitcoin in the last couple of the days will be the catalyst that will break that resistance hopefully today, the price had been touching that zone presently of course a breakout is very imminent meanwhile events leading to this present upsurge in the price of bitcoin is obvious different from that of ATH in 2017 thus from all indications the price of bitcoin come 2021 will definitely more than the lat ATH.

I've just seen it hit $19841 on coindesk before dropping a little.

There's isn't a fixed price on when bitcoin has broken its previous all time high which is why the $20,000 milestone is mostly used as that'll be the significant price we all can agree to. If you noticed on some exchanges already, bitcoin has broken its previous highs but not much hype is going round about that since the $20,000 price mark hasn't been broken. With time, bitcoin been below $20,000 will become a time of the past, we're just in the first day of december and bitcoin is already few hundreds dollars away from Breaking the $20,000 milestone.

We won't pass that mark in our first attempts (that's a fact) as there are very strong resistance in that level, this is the second time bitcoin is trading above $19,000 in anticipation for breaking $20,000. There could be another correction before it finals happens and it'll be in the later weeks of december not the very first as many are assuming.

The breakout may eventually occur, but it is going to take some time. I would even say that there is a good chance that the 20K level won't be breached this month. One thing that surprises me is that we are yet to witness any large scale profit booking. When the prices increase from 10K to 20K in a span of 3-4 weeks, it is only natural to expect a lot of profit booking. But it seems like the investors are holding on, expecting higher profits.

Bitcoin is reaching a new ATH before the new year or during the new year. Tho I was losing hope when it reduced to 16k but, as far as it came back up, a new ATH is nothing big to achieve.

In CoinMarketCap its lower that 100$ as it only spike up to $19,749 though not that Bad because this is the second attempt Of bitcoin to break the Old ATH yet seems like Failing again because were back to $19,400 Level again.

maybe in the next try we will make it though because we are in the start of December and if this a History repeating then December is the Last resort or else 2021 will be the time.

Not just the profit takers but those who bought at under 17K even if its plays around that price they are still in profit, if bitcoin breaks out next year will see another alt season where most sleeping token will get a value.

I don't think so. The "sleeping" tokens are not having any value right now because they are completely useless. The promoters are no longer interested in the development and those who invested in these tokens are stuck with them. Back in 2017, the ICO craze was at its peak and it helped some of the shitcoins to get in to the bull mode. But that is not going to repeat in 2021.

I agree. While bitcoin will gain strength, other currencies can only wait until it begins to weaken and investors begin to pour their assets from bitcoin to Alt. I think we should expect the Altos to grow closer to spring, not earlier. In any case, selling for a penny what you have now is definitely not worth it. Cryptocurrencies are an area where the rise can happen sharply and very strongly.

Unless the development team will make a move, the coin won't make any progress. There is no such thing that will pump without any reason. Bitcoin increase in price because of mass adaptation and continuous development. We are seeing a great progress for bitcoin since there is a great support from people and different institutions.

Bitcoin's ATH is good milestone for the community, but still expect the correction after a big pump in price.

Bitcoin Monthly close is too close. Just a few hours away to close this month. If Bitcoin keeps bullishness we may break the new ATH and create another new ATH. We can also break the 20000$ level. I am too excited. I am also excited to see the dump also. Because many investors will try to book profit.
Quite honestly that is what worries me the most, what will happen now that we have finally reached the goal that took us three years to reach? Will the price of bitcoin keep going up as people get excited about the fact that bitcoin finally surpassed its ATH or this is going to be the beginning of the end for this trend and people will begin to sell their coins thinking a  crash is coming and this will create a massive decrease in the price similar to what we saw in 2017.
I know some Bitcoin Holders, who were holding Bitcoin since 2017 bull run. He entered market when Bitcoin was too pricey. Then bitcoin dumped. After the bull run again. They sold their Bitcoin at last.

We are so close to hitting the new all time high and we have been for the past few days.
Now we are only just $500 away from the new all time high but I still have a feeling we will not cross this mark just yet.
There are too many sell signals at some of the exchanges where whales are looking to cash out at that new big number 20k.

I agree with you. In 2017, the case was different. ICO created a craze in the market. Though DeFi craze is running. More people are investing their money in DeFi projects. But those who are responsible for a token/coin's bull run, I mean whales, are now smart enough. They will only invest in the projects which are promising enough. If we want to be smart too, we must avoid shit coins.

So it's hitting $19,900 at the moment, should we not all be cashing out if we're convinced it's going to crash somewhat before breaching the $20k mark?

Within 2 minutes of me saying that it's dropped to $19,300  ;D

From reaching $19,800 last time, it pulled back to $19,100 and now it’s $19,300+. I believe the uprising of Bitcoin right now is due to the launch of ETH 2.0 today, because ETH surged to $612 right now as of this time of posting. For me, I think this is very possible right now for Bitcoin to touchdown $20k for the first time. I can sense that within this month, it’ll touch $20k.

Some major exchanges have already reached the ATH, but it suddenly goes down again in minutes. We can hope that before the year end, BTC can reach the 20000$ mark. But still expect that there is a correction that is going to happen and at anytime, the price might dip just like what happened during the bull run last 2017. Still hopeful that the price will exceed our expectations, knowing that bitcoin have come so far and many well known people and institutions have already adapted bitcoin.

Bitcoin already made a correction and time to stable now. Few days back strategy says there will be a pump and already did it.

Bitcoin is traded at $19,450 right now. ATH is very close again at the end of the year. Hopefully we are getting to see another bullish run by Bitcoin in the last moment.

The bitcoin price is down again to the $18,800 level, and although the price is still trying to back to $19k, I think that will need some time for bitcoin to go that price. If the price can back up to $19k a few hours later, bitcoin price will have more chances to get another pump and hit the next high price. The other bull run will happen after the bitcoin price can back to $19k, and I think we will soon see $20k.

It did made the ATH and after that started to fell and almost in less than 10 minutes down by 1k . Its finding it difficult to surpass 20k levels now it seems since 2nd times almost close to it and again it went down. I think even traders at the moment might not want to trade in such high choppy market as if it happen to crash might lose all their earning probably of the year.

Binance also posted it and recorded officially that Bitcoin made an ATH, but one noticeable thing here is that, even before September which is the holiday season, we are already reaching a good market price and considerably a Bull run for the entire cryptocurrency market. What more it could show when we are in mid-December? I am not relating it directly to the ATH last 2017, but it is somehow reasonable to think of a good market price since the holiday season will encourage more cryptocurrency enthusiasts to enter the market and celebrate the updates we had such as PayPal integration, big company transferring their backup funds to Bitcoin, more market Adoption, and Bitcoin halving.

the price of ATH Bitcoin was $ 20,089 on December 17, 2017 and this year's chance for Bitcoin price to rise higher than ATH price is likely to happen, because this year I saw crypto market was very good and market cap also increased higher than last year, so this makes me believe if people start to investing in cryptocurrency again and this will have a positive impact on the price of Bitcoin, because the dominance of Bitcoin in market cap is more than 60%, so if this year the market cap continues to increase then I believe Bitcoin price will definitely increases very high and beat its ATH price.

Not yet but very close to the 2017 bitcoin ATH. Very exciting to see that bitcoin will make a new ATH record once again before or after end of this year. What is interesting in bitcoin is that it quickly recover from the price correction a few days ago. Very nice and strong digital currency.

Bitcoin has the potential to hit ATH before January 2021 as current market condition are very good and supportive. I don't think ATH can be achieved in 2020 before because I believe it can happen one year after the halving. But right now the price of bitcoin has been very close to the previous ATH, and most people will want it past that before the end of 2020.

What is interesting in bitcoin is that it quickly recover from the price correction a few days ago. Very nice and strong digital currency.
Sometimes it can recover quickly and sometimes it doesn't because it all depend on market demand. But I believe every time bitcoin goes dump, the price will recover. Normal volatility with bitcoin.

I think the 2020 price has returned to a record where bitcoin can reach its highest price for the umpteenth time and I am very happy to know this because this is a price development that occurred for about 3 years after the collapse of the price of bitcoin in early 2018, hopefully the price of bitcoin can re-inflated prices and could become more expensive than it is today.

On many exchanges we've officially hit an all time high today and it's not going to stay like that or go lower before confirming a new high on every chart. That's how it works folks, the price will look for a significant confirmation every time. It will either fail to reach the target or reach it and go past it.

It's really a great feeling of accomplishment because I knew when we were down and people were bearish that it's going to happen again.

Yeah! the strongest resistance area indeed at 20k. After breaking and hitting new ATH, Bitcoin retrace almost 10%.  currently the key support is at $ 18.1K. I hope ,don't break it yet, while waiting for BTC to find an area for sideways.

That's the reason why I don't take my eye off the market, I'm also excited about bitcoin reaching the new ATH before this year ends.

I know that all of us are rooting for that event to occur because we are hoping for good things to happen this 2020.

The highest price I saw on bitstamp was $19,918 today and other exchanges may hit a higher point but haven't hit $20k yet. Somehow it just doesn't feel satisfying to hit the ath until bitcoin stabilizes at $20k at least for several hours. Too many sell orders slightly below $20k to prevent bitcoin from reaching that mark. However, it won't last long as bitcoin suppose to reach a new ath by this month.

On binance exchange bitcoin has already passed its all time high but after that bitcoin was dumped to $18.000 . Taking profit action was made by some investor I guess, but there is many possibilities to pass the all time high again and reach new all time high. If you see the montly time frame since 2017 ago the current candle has formed a bullish engulfing candle which mean there are so many investor who still hold their bitcoin. Different with the previous candle especially when bitcoin touch all time high the candle that was formed just a long wick that mean there are so many investor at that time who just sold their bitcoin when the price touch $20.000.

I checked yesterday's charts and the highest price we had yesterday was $19,902 per coin, which is slightly below the ATH attained in 2017 December. So it would be wrong to say that the ATH was reached on 1st December. The resistance level at $20,000 is proving to be too strong and it may take a few days, or even a few weeks to breach it. Let's rather concentrate on 2021.

Its very near to the $20,000 price already but quite unfortunate that it dipped down again to around $18,700 as of this moment.

Many investors and traders doesn't want Bitcoin to reach the $20,000 price right now :D. They are taking profits at that price causing the price to go down but I know that eventually that price will be pierced and we will go higher than that price. No excitement for me as I'm just waiting. Good for those spot and futures traders :D.

Yes Bitcoin made an ATH today, hope we all made profit.
BITCOIN ALL TIME HIGH
BINANCE - 19798  - BROKEN -
BITSTAMP - 19666 - BROKEN -
BITTREX - 19850
BITFINEX- 19891
COINBASE - 19891
GEMINIi - 19999

I really don't understand why people (and media as well) keep saying that BTC reached a new ATH. According to CoinMarketCap, BTC's ATH was at 20.089$ (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/) and this event happened on December 17th, 2017.

What happened recently, on December 1st, was BTC reaching a value very cloae to its ATH, but not a new ATH.

I am not sure what happened exactly on that day (even I was in the market) and why coinmarketcap gives us the 2017 all time high at $20.089. I recalled I have never seen bitcoin broke $20,000 in 2017. Double check with price charts on Trading view, it seems data from CMC is wrong on 2017 All time high or it could be a price from a leverage exchange like BitMEX or Bitfinex.

You are right about that price from CMC (I used their price table for my analysis so I knew it).

I checked 2017 all time high:
  • Bitfinex: $19,891
  • BitMEX: $20,093 (not $20,086)

Title: Re: Bitcoin hitting ATH right now?

I checked 2017 all time high:
  • Bitfinex: $19,891
  • BitMEX: $20,093 (not $20,086)

As far as I know, CMC shows a price which is the average of more exchanges... As a consequence, if BTC was 20.093$ at BitMex on 17.12.2017, if this value was added with other values then CMC calculated an average, it could lead to the amount shown of 20.089$.

However, I certainly remember that day that I read that BTC surpassed 20.000$ (can't find the article though).

And, if CMC is not wrong (it could be, but chances are low), then on 01.12.2020 BTC got close to the ATH, without reaching a new ATH.

I think that yesterday Bitcoin hit ATH in most exchanges. It is now Bitfinex too and Coinbase. It was rejected again but not like some were expecting. Some are expecting 30% drops for Bitcoin as in the previous cycle but I think that with the halving, we will also have a halving of the dip sizes. 15% as we had could be the new standard if Bitcoin is to repeat 2017.

You are absolutely right. The justification being given is that last time the ATH level was not achieved in many of the exchanges. While in one or two exchanges it breached the $20,000 level, the prices in other exchanges remained much lower than that. Also, the peak prices could not be sustained for long. Within a few months, Bitcoin was trading at four-digit prices.

Gladly, the bitcoin price can now back to $19k again, and the sign to see the high price still open wide. But I don't know if the price can still increase to $20k or make another correction and then bounce up to $20k. It is hard to predict where bitcoin will rise because we don't have the right sign or news to prove that. There are many speculations about the new price ATH for bitcoin.

In my opinion, a very strange situation - the price of bitcoins reaches $ 19,800, but does not reach $ 20,000 and falls to $ 10,000.  Is this option possible?

No, in my opinion, such a scenario is unlikely.  This is the December 2017 scenario.  It is unlikely that in 2020 everything will be the same as in 2017.  History does not repeat itself.

I think the price of Bitcoin will rise to $ 30,000 soon.  Possibly by spring 2021.  The price growth will be rapid.  Fomo's absence from the market makes this scenario very likely.

This is the last quarter of the year and still I can still remember the last quarter of 2017. Bitcoin showed its ATH value on that time which is also showing nowadays. We have already seen something strange on the last few days. Maybe we will get another ATH value in this month and I am expecting nearly $30k if the bull run continues. Market is unpredictable in this moment and nothing can be said surely.

BTC price has been playing around $18-19K for the last few days now and we are eager to see a new ATH for so long,
Would it happen on this year or maybe it would be next year.
It is so hard to predict the price right now since it is so volatile.

I think the bitcoin price will fluctuate between $ 16,000 and $ 19,000.

This is a comfortable price for miners.  Halving happened quite recently.  This led to a halving of bitcoin mining.

This price is also very beneficial for cryptocurrency exchanges (which earn on commissions).  Traders will make a huge number of trades in the hope that the price will go up or down.  A large number of transactions will bring profit to cryptocurrency exchanges.

I've just seen it hit $19841 on coindesk before dropping a little.

This new All time high might even be change in the following days since its just a small drop that is shown. The graph is similar with the year 2017-2018 in which Bitcoin really soar that year then it also carried other Alternate Cryptocurrencies boosting their values so its really one of the best time to invest as much as possible then get it out once you get your preferred profit.

It was exciting and ended right after making a new ATH for a few dollars more.

I am glad price didn't drop a lot because there can be another attempt to price above 20k having in mind $21500 as a possible target before finding resistance.
I don't think that 20k will be just the reason to see sellers.

This means the $20k was not the ATH as  has been circulated. I had some argument with a friend when he posted the new ATH of BTC on 1st Dec 2020. This is just the beginning, no ponzi and no hype driving this just mass adoption and great mainstream support.
