Title: [SCAM] Imining - Cloud mining promising 692% yearly profit!
Post by: Rikafip on December 24, 2020, 11:59:33 AM
What happened: Imining is yet another cloud mining scheme that promises unrealistically high return. They even claim that they are "making mining predictable" but as we all know, mining is everything but that as it profit constantly changes and what you get today with your mining rig doesn't mean it will be the same tomorrow. But Imining magic rigs equipped with "neural technology" offer constant profit no matter how much mining difficulty changes.

According to their calculation, if you invest 1000 USD, in one year you will get 7920 USD, making it 692% ROI. With these type of return we are entering ponzi territory as no one legit would offer you something like that simply because it is not feasible and profitable.

To further lure people into investing, every few seconds you will see popup in the bottom right corner about investors who successfully withdrew their earnings

Beside  unrealistically high return, there are several other red flags like claim of having 15,000+ users and paying out more than 2.2 million USD and all that in five months since their site is launched. Certificate of incorporation is yet another red flag often used in similar schemes.

Apparently, those fake deposits were just 5 deposits that changes only the dates and timestamp (i guess). I've been staring at it for 15 mins and the notif below seems to just be showing the same. To be settled with my claim, I tried to open another browser and visit it, and guess what, everything were just the same (i mean there are only 5 notifications that would be popping up, then the names would repeat). More interesting is that those 'users' where only coded in HTML, a raw list and elements that just hides and shows one after the other.

Code:

Seriously speaking though, for idiots out there who dont even know what mining is and have not come across ponzi schemes, this will seem lucrative and they will get roped in by someone who is another nutjob into putting in a couple of hundreds. Fact is that hundred might not seem like large to a single user, but the scammer monopolize on this - hundreds coming from hundred people does end up as a big number.

@Insanerman
Hate to say this, but I have seem similar methods in few other websites and it is a shady thing to do. But those are legitimate businesses too but of course here the context is different.

I get your point. But honestly, making a website element notifications doesn't need to be a list nor indicated in any list tags. A real time notifications can only be done with some document.innerHTML() OR document.createElement(), which would just replace an existing element to a real update from the server (which clearly the opposite of what imining did). Yes, there are numerous websites that leaves stock information in the front end, but most of them were fraudulent and such practices isn't tolerated by many legitimate developers.  ;D
