Title: Fake OnX Airdrop - Phishing SCAM - Portis wallet
Post by: wishxy on January 01, 2021, 09:47:35 PM
Watch out if you get an offer to visit the website 'onxswap dot online', it's a phishing SCAM.
They've faked OnX Finance Airdrop with the aim to empty your Portis wallet.
If you go to the website and try to connect your wallet your coins will fly away!
The website has been registered just a couple of days ago. Watch out!

Thank you for the heads up. Though I'd never click on any other sites that claim free giveaway or airdrop these days. OnX Finance has not announced anything like that, they only just completed airdrop for ANKR holders on big exchanges like Binance, Okex, Bithumb, Upbit etc.

Well, that's the exact reason why I try to warn people.
Since crypto jumps in, Cyberspace went on the wild side, and now as crypto approaches massive adoption it becomes an even wilder and most dangerous place to be.
Everybody thinks about what will be the next hype, but completely missed the point of security and protection. It's unbelievable.
We urgently need coins and tokens with special layers like some kind of 'return to the owner' feature. Maybe a special kind of NFT or something.
Also, people need better education about security and protection which is at least equally important as the whole internet with Bitcoin and the Blockchain technology on the top
Some kind of decentralized crypto police and crypto scam hunters are a must.

Try to check the domain information of the website you provided:

Yes, it was a red flag, very young, just established 5 days ago and the UI is very different from the original: https://onx.finance/. So the website that the OP posted is a phishing site, do not connect your wallet.

People should be wary of this kind of site. Onx airdrop has been ongoing on some major exchanges, so chances of being used for scam activity is high especially if big exchange like Binance is involved. Airdrops outside their announcement feed must be ignore.

I think people who are into spamming airdrop would mind whether the content is from original project or not as long as they can earn from free airdrop sign up.

Well-known airdrops may have been used as bait for scammers to make phishing websites even more similar, I know that beginners if they have found a better airdrop they will not look at anything and will not verify whether this is genuine or the phishing they enter, so we must be aware of what what we do because there are more and more spaming airdrops.
