many people thinks that etherium will take the place of bitcoin soon or later. what do you think guys will bitcoin the remain the biggest crypto in 2021?

Who are these people? I can assume that only ethereum fanboys would say that. It's true that it has outperformed bitcoin in price increase since the beginning of the year but "the flipening" won't happen. Mind you that ETH has a lot of competitors too like Link, ADA, and many more "ethereum killers".

Ethereum is a centralized currency that is used for creating new scamming tokens that have no value. Unlimited supply and ETH 2.0 show clearly that it is not fully decentralized. Maybe not like banks, but it is. Not to mention how fluctuating it is. A year ago it was at $170. Right now, it's $1300, WTH.

currently, Bitcoin controls 65% of the cryptocurrency capitalization, Ethereum is 11% and the remaining 24% is a combination of other Altcoins until the end of January 2021 (CMIIW).  the words "nothing is impossible in the future" will keep on ringing in our heads but Ethereum to take the position of Bitcoin as the largest cryptocurrency in the world to me sounds "impossible".  Ethereum price is still dependent on Bitcoin price so it will continue to do so forever..

Ethereum is one among the potential cryptocurrency, and for that it doesn't have the ability to overcome bitcoin. The way Bitcoin has been created varies alot from the ethereum network. In terms of volume even now bitcoin comes at the seventh position among the top list of currencies under circulation. With time this will change with respect to the growth, and ethereum hasn't reached a position within top list till date.

We always hear about that conspiracy in the media and a lot has been talked about.  But it seems that that comparison or hope is impractical and misleading.  the time ETH was born and left many big traces, but as long as bitcoin still shows why it is so valuable, every bull and bear market of this market, bitcoin maintains a bigger capitalization.  50% against ETH.  Bitcoin is the big brother of the crypto era and will always be unbeatable.

Apologies for the language, but the people who think Ethereum will take Bitcoin's place are total idiots.

Bitcoin is already the biggest cryptocurrency right from the onset and it didn't achieved that overnight, it was gotten because of its trustworthy system as well as the potentials it offers; talking about trust, there is no coin that is as trusted as Bitcoin and this has helped it to grow over the years amongst others features. Ethereum on the other hand, is also a good coin, or rather put, the best altcoin in the crypto space with a good decentralized system better than other altcoins. However, irrespective of how good Ethereum is, and what the team are already working on as regards the ETH 2.0 we should know that, Ethereum and its team has never being in any competition with Bitcoin because everyone knows how good Bitcoin is and what has happened to other coins that thought they would be better. Therefore in my own opinion, be it 2021 or in the future, Ethereum will most likely retain its 2nd rank on coinmarketcap as far as the team do not backslide while Bitcoin will continue being the most biggest and most valuable in the crypto space.

Ethereum is an important project among a very few others but it wont top Bitcoin.

This has been talked about for years but it wont happen.

We are moving into a changing phase if Crypto, its COVID-19 related, Financial stimulus,
quantatitive easing, money printing. This is diverting investors away from FIAT based

I think bitcoin will remain the biggest cryptocurrency at the end of 2021. Even though the other cryptocurrencies like Etherium and Litecoin will see a rise in value in 2021.

So if you are looking to invest in cryptocurrencies, I would suggest you invest in Etherium as it's still easier or cheaper to buy in comparison to bitcoin and it will give a good return on value later as its price will increase.

Again, centralized shitcoins with a mutable blockchain and unlimited supply and no utility except a platform for scammers to create tokens is not even in top 100 altcoins let alone be able to "take the place of bitcoin". The only reason you see this shitcoin be listed as second position is because these lists use a fake metric called market capitalization to sort cryptocurrencies.

I can see a good potential of altcoin etheruem but not to the point that it could overcome bitcoin, we have seen a great movement and improvement for bitcoin and it is really impossible that an altcoin can replace it. It is good also to hodl but does no expect more than.

Harsh truth but this is what needs to be said, just because the price of something aside from the original increased does not mean that it will surpass bitcoin. Most shitcoins are tied to bitcoin in some way so I do not think that it will be able to get that big like bitcoin. Maybe if they created a limited supply like bitcoin, they might be able to reach the heights that bitcoin has reached in its 12 years in the cyberspace.

Impossible. Ethereum is dependent on the price of Bitcoin. Whenever the price goes down ethereum will bleed and will follow when Bitcoin's price will go up. Bitcoin has the most adoption compared to ethereum so how come it will take place Bitcoin?

Bitcoin will remain the biggest cryptocurrency no matter what happens. Those who think ETH has even a speck of a chance need to realize that this is a game of "money" now. Bitcoiners have been repeating this for a long time that a new sound money is the foundation for a new type of economy. That money is Bitcoin. It cannot be anything else because nothing else is decentralized and secure enough to convince the wealthy people of the world to bet their net worth on.

Bitcoin is now geographically and even strategically decentralized. The biggest users are in the US and China. Both of these biggest powers cannot agree on what to do with bitcoin without the other taking advantage of it. These are the reasons that only Bitcoin has the chance to continue to create a space in portfolios of people and companies.

ETH has become mostly a platform for further innovations. Most sensible projects are looking to diversify onto other platforms. ETH will continue to serve this purpose but any talk of it overtaking/ replacing Bitcoin makes no sense whatsoever.

It didn't happen in 2017 and it for sure won't be happening any time soon.

Hard to see the future, but okay if Ether supply after 2.0 goes up (and it seems like staking will definitely increase this a lot) then by supply alone it can carry market cap closer and closer to BTC.

In terms of market cap, Ethereum is way behind compare to Bitcoin. Now in terms of technology, Ethereum has the upper hand especially when 2.0 will be released. In terms of trustworthiness, Bitcoin is still on top.

The year 2021 began with cryptocurrency surprises and may also end with another surprise. The price fluctuates around $33k, given the hesitation of investors. It will be fixed once the ATH price is renewed. If bitcoin passes 42k, then people leave their greedy personalities again and started massively buying bitcoin. Not many individuals are exposed to bitcoin, so more than that will be bought by the next wave, and perhaps bitcoin will double its price during the year.

It's pretty obvious though, the price and the dominance still belongs to BTC so how can Ethereum takes its place? There are predictions that Ethereum can reach as high as $20k base on Metcalfe's law. However, I don't think it will have enough push to overtake bitcoin this year though or in the near future for that matter. Probably one of the dreams of Ethereum fanboys, but it's not gonna happen.

Yeah I say yes bitcoin will remain the biggest Cryptocurrency even forever. Bitcoin is the biggest Cryptocurrency in  capitalization and the price of Ethereum and other Altcoin is dependent on the price of bitcoin and so shall it be.

No coins can overtake Bitcoin as the biggest coin in crypto history. Even if there are coins that have bigger prices than Bitcoin, but they cannot beat the popularity and survive well as Bitcoin. For example YFI, its price ever passed Bitcoin price, but now the price already dropped significantly and the popularity cannot grow well as Bitcoin. It is the same as Ethereum, it also never overtakes Bitcoin as the main crypto coin and has the most power to influence the market. So, Bitcoin surely will remain the biggest crypto coins at the end of this year or even in the next more years.

If we are talking this year only, bitcoin will still be the top among these thousands of cryptocurrencies. More than a decade in the making and yes, popularity will not be achieved by other alts for just short period of time. Even noncrypto users already recognize the term bitcoin. But if you try to mention ethereum or doge, they don't know what to say. A lot of people are still not familiar with eth, even it is already in the top 2 position. I don't think Ethereum can overtake Bitcoin,infact no other crypto coin can replace bitcoin as it will always remain the most trusted crypto and leader of cryptocurrency as it has proved multiple times that it can overcome any hurdles and whether it's 2021 or any near futur. Ethereum is a trustable coin which is next to bitcoin in the rankings and just like how Ethereum cannot overtake Bitcoin, the same way other alts cannot overtake Ethereum.

Ethereum's usability is heavily weighed down by it's slow transaction process and high transaction fees. Until they find a way to solve this issue, it's going to be very hard for Ethereum to beat Bitcoin in the market in terms of price. Especially now that bitcoin has reached 30k which is an awful lot of money of course. So it may not happen anytime soon, but provided that Eth does something about those factors above, they will have a fair chance at bagging the top 1 spot in the future.

I don't think it will happen, bitcoin will still remain the biggest crypto currency in this world. Be it in the side price, marketcap and popularity yeah no matter what will happen. I have ever think like that before especially when bitcoin fee transaction getting high and high.

The fee for ETH was high as well at that time but its developer make new something and upgrade their system and the result the fee is getting low right now. But, something like taht doesn't make ETH is more popular and beaten bitcoin in the larget crypto currency. Let me guess a total hyped YouTuber that put his portfolio into Ethereum, that's totally understandable for them but they'll just assuming that it is. I will not see a cryptocurrency that can surpass the market cap of Bitcoin even in a decade, bitcoin will be the store of value on most crypto assets that's why keep stacking will be good in the long run.

Nope, ETH is still very far from dethroning Bitcoin in the top spot. Not only for 2021, but it will goes on forever. These people who thinks Ethereum will take over Bitcoin is delusional. This issue has been going for quite a long time especially during the boom of smart contracts, and now the ETH 2.0. But then again, this won't be enough to dethrone Bitcoin as the mother of all cryptocurrency.

There isn't any good reason I can find why it wouldn't be. We have seen some crazy pumps lately with Dogecoin and maybe we will continue to see irrational behavior like this. It's hard to predict how those types of situations will affect market cap rankings but under normal circumstances Bitcoin will continue to remain king.

I dont think there is any reason for any one to say Ethereum will be the biggest cryptocurrency at the end of 2021, Bitcoin is currently the largest cryptocurrency and am sure bitcoin will continue to lead any other coin will definitely follow bitcoin. Ethereum is the second largest cryptocurrency and I believe it will continue like that. Bitcoin is the market controller if bitcoin crash definitely Ethereum will also crash and other altcoins too.

I doubt they could just stomp on bitcoin just like that, even in a decade or a couple.
IMO, the balance may go off if Bitcoin will suddenly be in the second place. Who knows how bad the effect will be but it may become an issue of trust.

The idea has a point actually. It is true that bitcoin is somehow far from the etherum as of now but I also believe that it is possible too. Depends on how the market will move alongside with the investors, traders and some people that can affect the value in the marketplace. Yet, I think it is also has a low possibility for the Ethereum to surprass the value of bitcoin as of now. We all know that they are both cryptocurrencies which has a volatile attitude. They are both unpredictable and the value isn't stable. Who knows, we can say that it may not surprass rhe bitcoin but I gues it will always have a possibility or be open to that idea where someday, bitcoin may be replaced in the top.

I don't think the bitcoin cannot changed by any crypto currency. Even if the price will fall, I'm sure that the other currency's price will also fall. This year, bitcoin is still on the top. The reason is some companies or countries are investing their money because of pandemic which is the right choice now to make profit.

Maybe some people speculated that ethereum will replace bitcoin but for me, I think that's far from happening. Bitcoin's value is too far from ethereum's. Many people are Ethereum fanboys who believe all the marketing claims from the Ethereum team. Ethereum only becomes more and more centralized with each new day, and it still doesn't show any adoption that matters - it only creates useless hypes like ICO and DeFi that have no impact on the real world and mostly just scams.

Lots of investors view Bitcoin as digital gold - but does anyone view Ethereum as digital gold? So how can it overtake Bitcoin?

So let's assume that was to happen anytime in the future, that a project with such potential to overtake bitcoin in terms of market cap. That coin is yet to be developed as none of the current projects has it in them to overthrown bitcoin not even Ethereum or USDT. The adoption rate if bitcoin is far above any cryptocurrency in existence.

Only the government or government backed project can achieve this milestone. There was a time when the Libra project was making wave and I thought that was the best that could have overthrown bitcoin in market cap since facebook already has trillions in store. But fortunately that project die off the radar.

Any project with such potential has to be a stablecoin as no coin with volatility can outperformed bitcoin in market cap irrespective of whatever the project claim to offer.

This thing is quite having a higher tendency to happen more than  Bitcoin reaching $100k this year for other Market analyst. Bitcoin managed to have large community of its users sine it was created. Why do I believe to such claim? Try talking about cryptocurrencies to some of your friends having no idea of what it really is. Chances are high that they will mention Bitcoin as an example, or to some cases people are referring to Bitcoin representation of the cryptocurrency market in general. That I think is how popular Bitcoin is. There is even a tendency for a coin  to be killed by the hype of Honda Wave.

Bitcoin is here to stay as the biggest currency in the world, you might see coins with unlimited coins in circulation having a much greater market capital in the future but to overcome the dominance of bitcoin is impossible and i do not consider ETH as a currency :P.

Why would any crypto user say Ethereum will replace bitcoin as the biggest cryptocurrency at the end of 2021? That is simply what we call a fantasy. And they should know that fantasies are not real.
Bitcoin has been the biggest cryptocurrency since its inception and will remain so, not only at then end of this year but at the end of every year.
While I'm no disputing the fact that it is possible, by some chances, worth what bitcoin currently worth, I'm sure it cannot at any time worth more than bitcoin. This is because bitcoin will continue to rise in value and by the time Ethereum hits $32k, bitcoin would probably have hit $500k

I think the term "cryptocurrency" will become less relevant as digital tokens split into different classes.

For example, DeFi tokens such as Aave and Uniswap (which are bumping at the moment) provide benefits in different ways.

Bitcoin, the leading and reigning currency, will remain in its top position until another cryptocurrency will be able to defeat the number of sales in the market. In addition, even if there are other cryptocurrencies which are relatively 'better' in terms of convenience, if people would not purchase that coin, then its value will not/never increase.

What determines the price of bitcoin is the amount of people willing to purchase it at such price.
