Title: [WTS] 25 BTC N Series Bitcoin Block From BTCC
Post by: windjc on February 13, 2021, 12:48:13 AM
This block is from the BTCC N Series Bitcoin Block. Pretty rare collectible.

Block #418,537 with 25.63344702 BTC on it.

I am debating putting to auction or if there are no real interested buyers, I will probably peal it.

It's a beauty, I'd just prefer the actual bitcoin atm.

I also owned the only BTCC Double Block which I just sold directly to a private buyer. MinerJones can confirm.

if you peel it, would you be interested in selling the block itself post-peel? if so, for what price?

Lol, I was thinking the same thing.  I can't afford the block unpeeled, but maybe at Titanium scrap rates...  I think I could scrape together that kind of scratch.

Beautiful piece of history, none the less.  Best of luck to you windjc.  No matter which way this goes, you're the winner.

I think even the peeled titanium block will be a little around $5k or so (I think this is even not right, they might be fetching $6.5k? or $7.5k?)... AFAIK BTCC pieces have good peeled value similar to Cas coins as they had virgin btc in them! For instance, a peeled 25 btc BTCC block fetched roughly around $6.8k in the last known auction : [ENDED] BTCC titanium blocks (redeemed) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5282913.msg55407369#msg55407369) and if we ever buy any peeled 25 btc block I think the buyer will sell them at the same rates as these pieces are very rare.

but maybe at Titanium scrap rates...  I think I could scrape together that kind of scratch.
I think it's impossible for someone to sell a piece at Titanium scrap rates. Will someone sell a peeled 1k btc cas coin at spot gold rate? If we ever get that, I think we would be one among the most luckiest person in the collectible community for sure..  ::)

@OP GLWS.. some shark with some spare $1m would be watching and finishing this beautiful deal  8)

There were 93 made(2016). +1 double block(50BTC) +16 artist proofs(2015). Total of 110.

Elias' Encyclopedia was in the final stages around the end of 2015, beginning of 2016, so they would not have made it in there.

Would be interesting to know how many of the 93 are still unpeeled.

I would normally be interested, but there is no way you can trust that to the post, and you cant fly in or out of Australia at the moment, so I'm out, which sucks. Rona has cost me a few nice pieces over the last 12 months, but even 1 BTC items are stressful as fuck these days, my heart couldn't take 25BTC.

If I was you I would be tempted to wait a little while, a lot more buyers open up when travel returns to normal, I assume most people would not risk post on something like this. Which country is it located in if you dont mind me asking?

Even the Aus Open tennis players were having hissy fits on social media about the quarantine they had to go through, and they are rich and famous. Shlub like me would get stuck in a room with no Netflix, internet or xbox

Thanks for all the mintage information guys.  Windjc I did have a couple of lengthy calls yesterday with some investors and they just have smaller investments in mind with collectables. Of my group of friends I was the crypto enthusiast back pre $650 BTC or so. Now at $1.22 M for 25 BTC asset with less liquidity than an exchange wallet I understand the enthusiasm is less than a few years back.  I am a little more of a collector and drool over these cool collectables but like a lot here I'm not 25 btc wealthy and can only admire you guys that were able to hold so long.  This is a museum piece !  Smithsonian piece !  I think its worthy of a call to see interest there :)

OTOH! Fancy seeing you here  ;D

I had not considered the travel restrictions. I imagine you are correct. Although the buyer of the Double Block had MJ ship to Singapore.

Well that's an interesting idea for sure. But with museums, they don't purchase most items. You donate for a tax write off. So if I donated it to the Smithsonian I could take an appraised value of it and write that amount off against earnings for a year. Then the extra bonus is getting the personal acknowledgement for the donation.

It would be interesting to see at what point in the future they would be interested in a piece like this. Certainly once BTC is at $1 million value and this piece is worth north of $25 million. And of course, Bitcoin would need to be accepted more mainstream and as a reserve currency. I suspect in 10-20 years that would be an option. Maybe sooner.

Jesus. Someone has much bigger balls than me. As far as I know it's uninsurable, so you might as well be mailing cash.

True, someone with north of 200 BTC might find that appealing for all the reasons you stated. Great recognition for BTCC as a company and their insight in recognition of a block as a collectable as well. I remember going to the Smithsonian when I was a very naïve 18 year old and being in aww of all the gems in a room with The Hope Diamond. I asked the guard by the case " Are These Real?" I remember him smiling and going "Those are real" lol, memory of a lifetime to me...  I believe they would have some interest now BTC gets a lot of MSM exposure now.  Best of luck with this ! no matter what you decide its a winner
