Title: How much money is enough money?
Post by: Rruchi man on February 14, 2021, 09:21:55 AM
The chase for money especially in this dispensation is never ending. People are willing to go all out and do anything (legal and illegal) for money these days. The real question that i am forced to ask is, how much money is enough money?

At what point will one say that he or she has had enough money?

Well, for me, if you have to do illegal things, then no money is enough money. You can live happily working or investing in legit projects, so there is no need to go shady.

On the other hand, for a typical life, I guess that 1 Million is enough money, at least for me. Having your house paid, maybe another one in order to rent it, and plenty of money to spend for your entire life; well, this is if you don't have expensive hobbies, at least, but it is not my case, I am happy with little.

At what point will one say that he or she has had enough money?

It depends a lot by each and every person, since with more money at hand people always tend to spend more. And the country they are living in.
I've read somewhere many years ago that a study concluded a number around 3M USD, iirc.
Then some may count it by the yearly income they'd expect multiplied by the life expectancy. This depends also by the size of household, but I think there again the number is at least 1.5-2M USD.

Lately many tell that the number could be much simpler: 1 BTC. But they may be just dreamers and we get into speculation.

There are many factors to consider here. One of them is life expectancy as it has been mentioned, also current expenses/lifestyle.

Personally, as far as I'm concerned, I would divide the question into two:

1) How much is enough money to ensure financial stability on the day I die.
2) How much is enough money to live a dream life.

For 2) I would need much more money than for 1).

I'll probably achieve 1) by myself, with my current saving/investing plan.

I'll probably won't achieve 2) unless I'm really lucky or something, so I guess I'll never have enough.

This being said, I'll rest easy enough getting 1), knowing that I'm better off than most people.

If you have a certain mental illness, which a lot of alpha males do, you will never have enough.  Greed will drive you for more.  Example:  One of the first things OG bragged to me was "I'm set for life."  but he continues to scam.

If you have an extra 90 minutes, it's explained very well (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVuVlk2E_e4).   Greed drives 70% of all crime.

thats the game.
there is never 'enough'

governments say their social security benefits for the poor are 'enough' for them to live/survive on.
but anyone getting a minimum wage which is usually double governments minimum 'enough' social benefit know the social benefit is not enough purely because minimum wage(2x) is still not enough

there's the ex president that got paid $200k a year. and that was not enough. he had to syphon funds from the RNC donations.
..
the game is simple. once you attain a certain level of income and thus a level of lifestyle. the world is so vast that there is always more things/experiences that you want to achieve. thus always needing more money to attain the next level.
EG you initially plan on a hobby of hiking a mountain... then you spot people base jumping off the peak and suddenly you want to try that too.
..

alot of people try to break the game, by thinking that if they can calculate how much is left of their mortgage and then calculate how many years they may live for. and put a salary amount to those years left. and total it all up. then they can say XX is enough
but dare they ever get to a position of attaining that amount. suddenly their new lifestyle of not needing to work for it. allows them more free time to want to try new things.. which cost more money.

its like working minimum wage $300/w ($7.50x40h) thinking.. if you can get paid $300/w just to stay home you then have more free time for hobbies or more vacations.
but a vacation ends up costing $1500 a week all inclusive. and suddenly you feel the need for a 5x of your initial plan just to have a vacation lifestyle

in my view (from last decade before bitcoin when i did work) i thought a $50k a year income for the next 40 years would be 'enough' ($2m)
but now im hoarding a nice hoard of bitcoin. $2m doesnt seem enough

This question might not ever be answered in its entirety and it really depends on a person. For instance, we have seen some people get some unexpected money from the recent Gamestop controversy on the stock market and I have seen testimonies of people that cashed out just to pay their medical bills (or for their loved ones), pay their student loans, or pay their mortgage and that is it. From their perspective, them being able to afford those things and only those things made them somewhat rich, because, in the end, it's not the accumulation of capital but the option to take care of all or any immediate crisis without going further into debt that makes you a wealth person. Accumulating wealth means nothing when we play with made-up money written on a computer screen (and that goes with any currency in the world that operates in this manner, and besides gold, I believe all else do), it's just a game of chicken in the and to see who blinks first and cashes out at the right time. What matters is how that enriched and made our lives better.

I will leave you with some quotes from Marx that can shine some lite on this

- Marx himself makes it clear that he does not start from a basic concept – value – but from an elementary material phenomenon – the commodity – which is at the basis of capitalism, as the only economic organization based upon generalized commodity production.

- Money itself is a commodity, an external object, capable of becoming the private property of any individual. Thus social power becomes the private power of private persons.

No much money is enough that is why rich people are still getting richer which means their greed towards money never came to an end.

An ideal person or a person who knows how to handle money well set a goal to stop.

A person who does not get contended will lose it there is no such thing for people who wants money to get rich and want money is enough. We run the world with money people need money the rich work even more because they want to be stable and earn more but if this rich person is nice she or he will know how to share.

For the legal way, they know how to handle but it's not enough why? because they know money is unstable plus like I said if they are nice they will know how to share but they would still work for money to earn more.

For the illegal way, those are the greedy persons who don't know what is enough and have now a goal to do good which is simply illegal.

An ideal person or a person who knows how to handle money well set a goal to stop.

yes the ideal logic is 2x your salary.
1x means you can stop working and still get your income
1x for the new things you want to do with the new free time you have

but sometimes logic can surprise you.
once getting this logical 'contented' amount of 2x. your aspirations then raise up a level and your new higher level requires new standards and thus new income level.

EG
when your 20 you think if you can just get $300/w (~$7.50x40) then you just dont need to find a minimum wage job to survive,
bu then having that no-work lifestyle. and being 20. you want to hang out at bars and impress women. so you start spending more than you would if you were working and just going home each night.
so now you want $600/week(your 20yo ideal contented 2x lifestyle)

then at 21 you settle down with a woman and decide to get serious. marriage/kids. and suddenly more income is needed.
($10k wedding booked in 6 months needs over $400 a week saved up)
heck a $2400 a month wont pay all the bills and afford you a 3bedroom family home
after all your 20yo life only cost you $50 in food. but now your paying out $200 in food for you, wife and 2 kids. your electric and water has increased 4x too due to your family. so suddenly $1200 a week feels the same as $300 when you were single.
so yea maybe you think if you had $3600 a month, you can have $1200 a month extra spare cash. but that will only get you a $200k mortgage over 15 years. not exactly gonna get you a nice place you want to have your kids raised up in.

so when you were 20 thinking $300/w would be enough. a couple years later suddenly $900/w($3600/m) aint enough

$300/w might be ok if your content on being single all your life
but i guarantee you this. calculating a content life at 20 wont be a content life at 30

You might not really learn how much money is enough for you until you learn how to keep a low profile in the public but still have the money kept in secret. You wouldn't want to attract much even your online activity and spending habits offline so having just enough in your pocket to buy the things you need will make you look content.
But once you have a family to impress and feed, you may never really feel the day you can think of $100M be enough.

There is no benefit to having more money than you will spend. I think that having enough money to fund a better lifestyle than what you currently have for the rest of your life is enough. Of course, that will be a different amount for each person.

"Enough" for what?  Enough for yourself?  Enough for yourself and your spouse?  Enough to educate, feed, and otherwise take care of your children (or grandchildren, and on down etc?)?  Enough so that they'll never be homeless?  Enough so that they can get two graduate degrees each?  Enough so that they can live in a nice house vs Bill Gates' house?  (Enough so that they can fly private jets like Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Al Gore, John Kerry, all the while lecturing everyone else about global warming?)

Enough to take care of and help fund things you believe in?
e.g. Bezos, Elon with Blue Origin and SpaceX.
Hal Finney with Alcor.org (and the necessary technologies to help it work)?  Enough for Hal to take care of his family now that he is gone, fund them at Alcor, revive them and then ensure they won't be in poverty when/if it works?
People funding charities they support - Carnegie with libraries for example.  Gates with vaccines.

So it really depends on your goals how much is enough.

I will say, if you have to do something illegal, it isn't worth it.  Just ask Bernie Madoff and his ilk.

My view:
- private jets?  who needs them, just conspicuous consumption.
- A 300 foot yacht? Ditto.
- A 300000 square foot house?  Ditto.
- 10 cars?  Ditto.

A nice, well built home with a nice, safe car, that is sufficient for me.  Being able to pay for kid's (and their kid's) educations, helping them that is good too.  Helping to start a charity to help the sick, and fund some of it, that is nice too.  Being able to help the elderly, that is nice too.  Helping people via things like "March of Dimes", ditto.

It is certainly better to have individuals make these choices for themselves than to have some bureaucrat who hasn't ever earned a living make it for everyone.

If we will be relating this to something, for example, a car, the price of it is enough. Exceeding that price is too much.

Since we are talking about how much a person could have or could earn to live, I don't think we should actually say that there's an amount which is enough. As long as they are alive, they will keep on earning so for me. They may have too much to buy a house or a car but as long as they are living, they will still earn money.

People have this timeframe to keep earning even though they have too much money. That timeframe they have is the same amount as their lifetime.

If someone is having a Toyota then they will be earning more because they want to buy a mid range Luxury car and one who have that mid range car will be keep earning to buy a Rolls Royce or Lambo and one who have Lambo will be keep earning to buy a private jet and this keep going forever... :D

In these days every person is chasing to money, everyone want to earn money with any method(legal or illegal).
The limit for money is to have enough money to survive luxury and happy life.
If someone has cycle then he will earn for bike, if he got bike then he will earn for normal car if he got normal car then he will earn for expensive car and this keep going forever...

If you are talking about dollars - 1 million dollars, then that is really a big amount of money here in the Philippines. One million dollars is almost 49 million Philippine Pesos so I can imagine if someone is that rich then he will be able to buy the things he can have like a house and a car and a small business. But that is not enough if you are planning to buy several houses and estates and parcels of land and a beachfront to make a resort business out of it. You need at least maybe 3 million dollars so that's almost 148 million Philippine pesos so for me that is my dream.

Once we are alive we need more money, more cash flow, that's how our needs and wants increases, our problems increase too. For me the only time I can say I have enough money is when all my circle of friends are doing great,my family, relations, my parents are all financially free, then I can I have enough money.

More you have more expensive your toys do become LOL. How much does it cost to travel to orbital station as a tourist?  ;)  And for those who think 1 mill is enough - it's not enough to buy and maintain a couple of decent houses in various nice parts of the world, a decent car and a sailboat, leave alone a small plane. And if you like to travel (in relative comfort, of course) and actually see the world instead of watching Geography Channel then 1 mill will be over in less than 10 years, too.

I read the question and the answers.

The tangent question to this is how much is time and health worth?

I am 64 My wife is 65. We get along.  If you offered me 30 years more time to be with her and for us to be really healthy for those 30 years I would pay quite a bit for that.

Since no one seems to be selling those 2 items time and health my need for big money drops a lot.

I know what we have.
I know what our fairly  certain income streams are.

So if I have 7 million usd tax free dropped in my lap with zero questions asked and no strings attached I would say I do not need any more than that amount.

I would want 2 homes not 1. 450k
I would want 1 car and 1 truck not just 1 car. 50k tesla truck
I would want a vacation spot in Canada or way Upstate New York a basic cabin with some land.  200k
I would want a nice sized ground mounted solar array giving me 1 megawatt of power at one of the homes. 2.5 million. This translates to about 160kwatt for free 24/7/365 I could run a lot of miners with that.

that is 3.2 million. I would hand over 3.5 million to the wife. leaving me 300k to play miner with.

How much is enough money? For a person living in the United States under this COVID crisis that is an interesting question. Why because of the inflation of the FED stamps printed by the FED which means 1 million dollars might be in the form of a dollar bill rather than a lengthy bank transfer (or crypto-stable transfer  :)) soon enough (or it will come in the form of a CBDC). In a way I sort of hope the USD stays the standard of global trade but we in the states are spoiled and it will soon all the printing and poor monetary policies will come back to bite the US. If were to stablize as I see it now. I would sell half my crypto for 4 Million dollars (keeping the other 4 million in crypto to accrue interest or gains in the markets) if the Zombie in Chief (or Mrs. Fake) doesn't take most of it in taxes. I'd hodl the rest in crypto just in case the USD goes the way of Venezuela, Zimbabwe or the Weimar Republic of Germany (circa-post WWI).

We all spend essential portions of our lives pursuing money. Financial satisfaction is more of an emotional issue, and our attitudes and beliefs determines our sense of satisfaction and contentment. Man by nature is insatiable and "more money, more problems". That lies the unending quest for wealth. For example, a person can be grateful for a monthly income of $10,000 while another person will feel disenchanted and disappointed deprived this same level of income.

LOL, I have to say that there is no amount of money is enough for human. The rules is the more have the more you want. Just think about bill gates and Elon musk, Both are the top richest man in the world. That means atleast they should have enough money, right? But they are still doing works, business, to increase their capital. If the world richest man can not feel he has enough money despite owning thousand of billions dollars. Then How people like you, me can feel that we have enough money?

* Btw to give an idea about the money which help to lead life with happiness then we have to know the country where you are live. This really important before giving an constructive answer IMO.

Everyone needs money. they need money to take care of their lives and dreams. They need money to take care of their loved ones. Money will never be enough for everyone.
Even a monk, still needs money.
We see that the richest people in the world or the poorest people in the world are working day by day to make more money.
Somewhere in the world, there are still dozens of people making money and at a point, they don't need more because they do not need to use such a large salary. I have met many elders who are satisfied with their lives in their homeland. They don't need much money, they just need a peaceful life with their family.
Money is never enough, it matters how we think about them.

I can only dream so such big money that I do not have the means right now to deal with such big amounts. But for me it might be enough if I can ensure that my children and their children will be able to live comfortably but with conditions. Conditions that has something to do with them being able to learn crypto and learn trading and learn whatever businesses we might have along the way. For them to be able to continue the family business. And for them to be able to become good managers of the finances and of themselves. If you have a big family, a big house and a car is not enough. For me if you have several renting places and a farming business and a resort business, I think that would be sufficient for one to be able to survive many many years.

Human greed is very simple to understand, just like there are uncountable stars in the Galaxy, and then uncountable galaxies in the observable universe, and the outside of the observeable universe is infinitely the same as the inside, human greed is infinite and ever expanding and will end with a person's life only, it knows not any boundary to stop. If one has two oceans of diamond, he will dream of a third one. ;)

The question on how much money is enough is rhetorical. We all know that humans' wants are insatiable which is the reason why we would never be satisfied even though we owns everything in the world. The more we earn or we are able to acquire will continue to increase because humans wants is numerous and unlimited.

We all have this desire to earn more and more even though we have  surplus, the desire never ends. Greed is another factor that could make one to have unlimited desires even  though their is still nothing to acquire. This is the reason human being would never be satisfied with their current conditions. Always wanting never tired. Even the richest man in the world is still ready to earn more not considering his surpluses.

This is how human nature is, nothing is ever satisfying which makes every persons to have the urge for more even though there is still enough that is left in reservation. The rich keeps on investing to have more wealth while the poor or average people also engaged in things that will bring money for them. In as much as money answereth all things, the urge to make money keeps on increasing with so many reasons and factors that is influencing the way we think.

Some of you stated that no money is enough money, that we always need more; some talked about multiple houses, yatches... and everyone that has mentioned the 1 million has said it is NOT enough.

Well, that is the TRAP: the more money, the more expensive toys you want, but this is what they are, just TOYS.

It is quite simple maths: if I work for the next 30 years this is what I could expect to earn in all my life, 1 million. It is $33.333 annually, much more than the annual salary for an average Joe in my country (Spain). So if you asked me again, I would repeat the same answer: 1 million is enough money for me, and I don't see why it shouldn't be for anyone else. I guess that most people here don't just look for financial freedom, and this is the straight way to the slavery of desire and greediness.

Due to inflation there is no finite number for me. What could have been enough money three years ago might not be enough now.
Though something like 0.001% of the worlds money could make me feel I have enough (recalculated every year).

So if you asked me again, I would repeat the same answer: 1 million is enough money for me, and I don't see why it shouldn't be for anyone else. I guess that most people here don't just look for financial freedom, and this is the straight way to the slavery of desire and greediness.
If 1 million is enough for you then why people who have more than 1 million in their bank accounts are still working? Doing business or anything?

We can't draw a line and say this amount of money is enough to live the remaining life as you wish since inflation causes the purchasing power to become less and less while the development increase the expectations increase every year.

Money can never be enough for human being because human wants and needs are insatiable, and the desire to satisfy them makes people crave for more of it.

You can speak for yourself but not others.

Many people do not have insatiable needs and wants.

For me at 64 I rather have the time than the money.

I know how I spend.

I know 10 million would be far more than I want or need since my time left is very likely to be under 35 years.

In fact 3 or 4 million tax free does the trick. But as I said I rather be poorer with less money and 35 years old.

If 1 million is enough for you then why people who have more than 1 million in their bank accounts are still working? Doing business or anything?

You should ask them, not me :D I suppose that they don't work at McDonalds or a car wash.

If I was paid upfront the money I'd earn in my entire life, take it for granted that I would only keep working or doing business if I really liked it.

About inflation, well, let's start discounting the interests of the credit/mortgage I wouldn't have to pay on my degree/house, apart from the fact I would invest a part of the remaining money (in Bitcoin, for example, which is deflationary).

It seems that some of you get a bit angry at me because 1 million is enough for me and not for you. Instead of trying to change my mind, why don't you reflect on the idea that money is a fiction invented by humans that is praised like a god but that has only the power one gives to it? I would literally live the same life I would without the million, but with a lot more spare time and without the potential obligation to do something that I don't like. If I wanted some lambo/bora-bora dream life it wouldn't be enough, of course, but to me that I don't aspire to such nonsense, it is.

Edit: 1M tax free, I concede :P

But what is your view if we are talking about the mass rich community? Did they stop earnings after they made 1 Million or even 1 Billion? Nope, is the reality!

We are not angry but wanted to express what is happening in this world. Each and everyone has their own preference and dream about their future life style but most people wants the comfort for that they need more money, they wants to stay in 7 star hotel for that they need money and probably they dreamed of Rolls Royce. ;D

I assume that you are at your young age so you are calculating about house rent/Schooling fee and etc but what if you get married and had 2 kids your expectations will change for sure.

The chase for money especially in this dispensation is never ending. People are willing to go all out and do anything (legal and illegal) for money these days. The real question that i am forced to ask is, how much money is enough money?

At what point will one say that he or she has had enough money?
no one will say I have too much money even the richest people in the world though...

Money is the most attractive human need, someone who really loves money will always look for it no matter what way he/she takes. I really need money but don't really love it because I love my family more than money.

No one will claim that they have “enough” money, and do not need it.  Mac Lenin's philosophy has said that human needs are limitless.  The richer you are, the more money you have, the higher your level of spending according to your needs will be.  Make a salary of 10 million they will use it appropriately, spend it properly, make a salary of 100 million, you will spend it to meet relationships, create fanfare to earn more partners..  etc.  So nothing is enough, greed is bottomless, it is always envy in the mind.

I think the word contentment will be the key. There is no such thing is enough if you are not contented with what you have. Even if you are rich now there are still someone richer than you. Lets learn to appreciate even small things because for some thats already big blessings.

It actually depends on the person itself, if he's satisfied or not already on what he has. For me my satisfaction doesn't base on the amount of money that I have but depends on my needs and happiness, as long as I eat, have shelter and clothes and I do things that I like for me that's enough as long as I can sustain those with certain amount that's  enough for me.

How much money is enough. The answer is that no one is enough. The Thirst for money can not slake even a man is given a valley full of jewels & diamonds. He will desire one more valley. If the whole blessing of the divine is laid in the lap of humans even then his thirst for wealth will not come to an end. The vessel of the world is too small for human desires. As wealth increases, the thirst for wealth increases with a speed. There is no enough no end. But contentment is a great wealth. A content person can be satisfied himself and thank God in All conditions.

For me is a simple answer, just 1 or 2 million Euros is enough for me to have a good life and leave to my kids something behind so they too can have a good life.

However let me tell a story from a boss I worked before,he had 5 businesses and was making 2-3 million Euros in a single business during a year and yet he could not sleep,he took pills to sleep but after a certain time they were not effective anymore. He didn't know what to do,his humor was changing real fast which is a sign of a lunatic person. What I want to say with this is that money is also a sort of illness like the one described in this example and personally I don't want this kind of money(illness) for me and my family.

A simple calculation conveys us that when a person accumulates around 400-500 times of their monthly expenses, they have enough to last for another 30 yrs. This means that if you have monthly expenses of Rs 1 lacs per month, then 4-5 crores is a reasonable corpus for you.

Getting all of the money in the globe and still not satisfied.
Having less and more relaxed and happy about it.
All that matters is base on one's personal lifestyle.
Humans can never be satisfied at the end if it all, that is to say enough money is not enough for the unsatisfied.

And this type of situation isn't going to be possible, ever! Even the richest of the richest men on earth still finds making money appealing. Warren Buffet is still in the business of making money till date despite all his riches. It goes to show that nobody can say they've got all the cash they need as to not to worry about making more money. However, in all of this I think the ultimate thing is to have that level of satisfaction with the little money one has.

my answer will never be enough, why? because human nature has lust and is never satisfied with what is produced by humans themselves, for example we have a motorbike, and see other people have cars, we ourselves want to have them, and when we have money then we will go to buy a car, so no matter how much people have money, the answer will never be enough. but all that will stop when we are dead, money will not be sought again and we have had enough.

I find this question quite difficult to answer right away. As I am thinking about amounts, no particular numbers come to my mind. I just thought that in this world we live in, that every action that we do requires financial resources, and not to mention that we all have different situations. The necessities, primarily, cannot be sustained without money. And therefore I must say that satisfaction and gratitude towards what you have is what makes it enough.

To have enough money is impossible, for me!

I am saying it's impossible because we are human beings and we have many basic things to pay for them every day so that we can live. We have to buy food every single day, water, utility bills and etc.

Even the rich people like Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and etc have a lot of money but they still working every day! Why? They keep working because they have to pay a lot of people who are working for them, they have organizations to support people with different problems (anger, illness, disability), sometimes they help government organizations so that they can feed millions of people globally.

So we always need money, even if it's enough for us but sometimes we'll have to keep finding it so that we can help those who are in need.

The main thing is not to know how much you need to earn and save in your bank lockers but main point of concern is at what level you will be having satisfaction that all that you want can easily be fulfilled but yes we need to measure them in monetary terms. The person needs to have specifications that what he need to do in order to remain happy and healthy in life but there is problem with human nature and mind.

As you said how much money is enough? The answer to this is we don't know the amount.Because when we earn our needs and greed also grow with the same level and this thing continue to rise until we are bored and having all the commodities. But are we deciding our limits if we speak personally? Like jeff bezos is richest man on planet and could leave all the work and still be able to spend millions of dollars daily for hundred of years but have they retired? There is one very beautiful quote by Mahatma Gandhi on the same:

Quote
There is enough for everyone's need but nothing for anyone's greed"

The lower class who have no jobs or day daily workers would need how much money? What all they want is to have enough to fulfill their daily needs and some extra expenses like food, clothing as they are not having any lure for luxurious commodities. They need that much only and will be happy.

The middle class expectations and need come up with their level and standard of living. They are driving vehicle and need petrol for it,food items, good clothes, going for shopping and all other extra expenses that could be cut off.But still they want to live in that aura and going for loans and Emi.

The upper rich and elite class has enough of enough that we can't imagine but they are spending them on luxurious cars and houses even if they can stay in small house.Sometimes they spend much more than the cost just to make themselves proud of money and esteem. They are enjoying their life their way.

But all the point is who is and how is gonna decide the limits? The world is moving with the same way and we are also part of it nothing else.

I guess that someone educated enough to not increase his target after achieving the 1M goal would be happy with this amount of money and that it would be, therefore, enough.

It is all about needs vs. boredom. If you don't have the money to cover your basic needs, you focus on covering these, while if you have more, you focus on ending boredom usually by trying to make more money in the hope that it will work.

Those who are not happy with anything won't be happy with everything, neither.

Man's want is insatiable :)
Money isn't okay for anyone because the day your  stipend or income increases, your problem does.
You will keep looking for more money because you'll keep having more problem, wants, demands etc, money doesn't satisfy anyone.
The reason why people ain't pushing too hard to get more money is that when you're young, you'll think making a billion dollars is just so easy but when you are up  ;D and begin to get entitled to many responsibilities daily, you'll understand that life gives to you what it has for you and not what you want from it
It is from human greed for money that even pushes them to killing",stealing from others",kidnapping etc

There is no exact limit to the money that could ever be enough. Your either earning and spending or dead!
Money have no infinity level of spending and we need to know the way we spend because is everyone knows that before money can be Earn you will involve many things both beyond extra things, I can support you through your statement i know that money is good to spend Because our life is not own by us and death can appear in our way any time. But human being need expansion of money investment in case of death because nobody is above death.

They are always in search of more & more money. A lot of money can definitely buy you a better lifestyle but what I do believe is that serenity and a sound mind is more important than money.
Family, relationship, frinds & good health is your real wealth and are more important than money.

For me the only time I can say I have enough money is when all my circle of friends are doing great,my family, relations, my parents are all financially free, then I can I have enough money.

That is true money work with our stay on planets Earth, some people could not make it when they are young and some dignities today make it when they old, some opportunities come when all hope are lost, some you are right indecencies that we leave to see tomorrow we have of surviving, financial freedom is just matters of time.

Human needs never end. Because if a person is given a mountain of gold. Then that person will want to make another mountain of gold. Man is an animal whose needs will never end. For example, Elon Musk is one of the richest people in the world. He wants more so that no one can remove him from one day. With the amount of money he has, a country can be run for several years. But its more demand. She wants to make more money. So I think human needs never end.

This is entirely a question of perspective.

This question largely relies on information like, "What country do you live in?", "What are your living standards?", "What do you view as comfortable?"

Any change to these questions may change what you think will be "enough" money. What someone in Nigeria thinks is enough money, will almost certainly not be the same as someone from Dubai.

How much money is enough? John D Rockefeller, at one point the richest man in the world and the first ever American billionaire, was asked that question once. His answer? JUST A LITTLE BIT MORE.

The answer would really vary from person to person, some just want enough to cover their expenses, some want as much as they can so they can keep on spending all they want and a few just want more money just for the sake of it.

Personally I want to aim for "F U money" as one of the "money-sellers" would call it but even that is subjective. Surely, you can't say F U to everyone.

Human's need is unlimited. There is no amount of money that one would acquired that would be enough. This is because your needs would always measure with your income. The more money you get the more needs you have.

But as a Christian the Bible talks about Righteousness with contentment. If you can feed, cloth, have shelter and pay your bills them you have enough money. The unnecessary crave for riches is why we have wars, unhealthy competition and exploitation. Hence, we must learn to be content with what we have per time.

Thing is why do very rich people even care that much about money anymore?  Example, Michael Saylor talks about buying more btc for microstrategy.  He is already super rich.  What is the purpose of getting even more when he could probably just relax and not have a single care in the world?

Thus people with like 50 million dollar networth etc...whats even the point anymore for them?  They going to have enough money to last them and their generations forever.

Making much money is the priority but money no matter how you get your money with it needs is strategic plan over it, because you can make so much money without having the ability to control and management over the money it will become useless from the way i notice the relative abundance of money, another thing you suppose to know is that you can not know when you make huge money

It really depends on what kind of lifestyle a person has. And how satisfied he is with what he has. Everyone has their own dreams in life, and everyone wants a good and comfortable life, especially if they have a child and a wife.

In today’s era in fact as we approach the future people are becoming more greedy for money and power, so as a result the poor are suffering even more, which is why others are forced to engage in illegal activities.

But even the world is in great turmoil today due to pandemics and widespread poverty caused by ongoing war and chaos and greediness for power and money. There are still people who are happy and contented with simple living and with the things they have built as a result of hard work and approach to work. Because they know how to value their hard-earned money and they are confident in their knowledge and ability.

The easiest way to answer how much is enough to stop working is to multiply your total annual expenses by 25. That's how much money you need to stop working. For example, if you spend $25,214 per person in the household unit, you'll need $630,350 per person, according to the BLS study above.

In advance: You have enough money if you no longer have to go to work to finance your personal standard of living.

To name an amount of money would be the wrong approach. Who tells me that 1 million euros/dollars have the same value as tomorrow. That is not the case we all know: inflation. What if it is a hyperinflation? Then a loaf of bread might cost 1 million.

Therefore, we must first ask ourselves a few questions that a good store of value must fulfill.

What can not have inflation?
What can I take with me everywhere?
What can't anyone take away from me?
What can't be wiped out?

Answer: Bitcoin

Bitcoin is limited to about 21 million and cannot have inflation. By memorizing a few words, I can take it anywhere. Thus, no one can take it away from me if the value is dependent on knowledge alone. It can't be wiped out because anyone can set up a node or mine it.

So I would say I would need a certain amount of Bitcoin to be set. How high that is, I don't know off the top of my head.

The answer to this question is a perspective one, $1b can be enough money for someone, while for another it's just a half way success to what he/she could actually agree to be enough for them.

As far as responsibilities keeps knocking on the door no amount of money actually enough money.

If one has money that it can be used take care of his family and do new project at any time  that is enough, as far as he does not beg for me to fund for his self, I think this can be enough live with.

By defining enough money, it all goes down to individual, as what might be enough money for person A might be a small money to person B, in my opinion and as for me, enough money starts from a million dollars up to five million dollars I'm OK with that, basically most of it will go to charity and helping the less privilege ones. If it's only me and my family probably less

You can always direct this question to those who are already in money to tell us how much money can be a enough. The millionaires and the billionaires already have the money and they are always eargered to make more money so that there money will keep on growing as people keeps on working for them. No money is enough except for those who are okey with there present conditions which is rear.
A good question though - but when you have a comfortable life style and you are happy with it and the account is topped up every month - for me it is enough money.
Since I am a Lower middle class. So I think I need a lot of money to be able to call myself rich.

I will answer your question with a question of mine. What is better than money? More money! Even Dangote and those other big names in the society who are business tycoons and have enough money to last the fourth generation, still look for the money. You feel they don't have enough money? They do but as humans needs are numerous and insatiable, there is this drive to continue looking for it.
If you ask me, I don't think any individual has a limit to his need for money. Because someone can be content with a certain amount of money, but that doesn't mean he will not push for more if he has the opportunity.

In order for any amount to be sufficient, first of all, it is necessary that you do not increase your cost of living as you increase your earnings. This is really a big poison for a lot of people, especially people who really care about brands and luxury. And that's not a matter of judgment, it's just a matter of logic. Everyone knows what it's like to live well for themselves.

But, I think that a sufficient amount is a value that allows you not to rent every second of the day and that does not make having 30 days of vacation a year or 2 hours - instead of 1 hour - of lunch a day your greatest happiness.

I recently decided to give up more money for more freedom, and having time makes the value of money less important.

Although happiness is a subjective feeling, studies of satisfaction/happiness show patterns across populations, and one pattern is that people in richer countries tend to rate their lives as more satisfying. In fact, research shows that money makes us happier on a personal level, too. The more money you have, the more happy you are. The thing with money is not that it makes us happy, but that it empowers us to feel free. So, even though money is rarely an emotional driver, it does provide us with some material things that are beneficial to our lives and it makes our lives easier. And it helps us to live more satisfying lives.

How much money does it take to feel happy? Or, is there an upper limit on the correlation between money and happiness? Here is what I think: Basically, additional income always brings more satisfaction, the rich, however,  need a larger bump to get the same level of happiness than the average person. For example, if you earn $25,000 or $35,000 a year, an extra $10,000 per year will mean a great deal, but almost nothing to someone already earning $ 250,000 or more. So, there is no need for everyone to aim for great wealth, but it is undeniable that life is easier with money, and our best bet is to find the optimal measure that suits us individually.

No amount of money is enough  because all the billionaires I have come across are not satisfied with the amount of money they have. They try to figure out always how they can generate steady flow of income into their account,  no amount of money is too much to have, the taste for money does not have any end point.

"Human wants are insatiable", no matter how much money one currently have, there will still be the desire to have more.
Therefore, no amount of money is enough money.

If the richest people in the world have yet to retire from their work after making so much money that they can never be poor again then, it goes to show that with more money comes more desires.

My wants and needs can be satisfied as I am not delusional.

Life for humans is a time game.

Ie 125 years = max cap.

100 years = rare.

a good 90 year is achievable. Look at William Shatner or Mel Brooks  these are good 90+ year old people.

I am 65 okay health.
My wife is 66 okay health.

Maybe we are worth 2 mill. House and pensions included we may be worth 3 mill.

Trust me given the choice of 5 extra years time or 5 mill.

I want the time. Not the 5 mill.

Given Healthy to 95 vs 20 mill.

I will take the healthy till 95.

So for me time is the currency I want.

since I am not delusional I know it caps out at 125 max.

I did see an interview of a very old couple deep into their 90's you could see they were still into each other.

That has far more value than my house or our pensions. But realistically. I still want our wealth.

I live in NJ and would be considered middle class. maybe top 15% of a usa couple in terms of wealth.

Do I want to have 25 mill sure but not my first choice of what I want.

The holy Bible says, Money is the root of all evils.1 Timothy 6:10. And also when Jesus was tempted by satan the devil. Satan told Jesus to bow down then he (satan) would gave him (Jesus) all the world pleasures, and wealth. Money causes the unequal distribution of national, and international resources among individuals, companies, firms, local governments, institutions etc. Even till now the African richest and the world richest men are still looking for money. With money all things are possible. therefore, I am very much believed and convinced that there is no limit on the acquisition of money or wealth as the Middle and the upper classes arranged it. Money is not enough at all time. A former governor and a serving minister in my country spend #5 millions = $12039.709023 daily while a large number of the citizens spend $1 a day, yet that minster will not allow the ordinary poor man to become a minister one day to test the ministerial post.

There is no time, day, week, month, and year one will say he has enough money. He will only tell you that he is looking for money.

Well the point you have mentioned is very valid. the equal distribution of the wealth has made things very difficult for the people around.
But than again - no amount of money is enough money - because when we get more money - we increase our needs and wants. And that is how every amount is less amount.

Enough money for me is money needed to be able to achieve Maslow's Hierarchy of needs. It is a five-tier model of human needs, often depicted as hierarchical levels within a pyramid1. From the bottom of the hierarchy upwards, the needs are: physiological (food and clothing), safety (job security), love and belonging needs (friendship), esteem, and self-actualization2. It is true that one may not need money in some of the various levels but we would agree that money still plays an important role in all the levels.

You are probably going to get wrong answers because even if a human is blessed with everything they will still urge for more, this is human nature, the feeling of not having enough is within us, only very few people who are ready to give up on the world itself are satisfied.

In my opinion, no amount of money is sufficient since humans are naturally drawn to wealth, and when we do, we are constantly looking ahead to catch up with and pass those who are ahead of us.
When a person starts to consider the plight of poor families, that's when they'll decide that they have enough money.

It's in the human nature to keep wanting and economics has said clearly that human wants and needs are insatiable. You'd be surprised to note that billionaires who have enough to last generations still struggle for that money.

The more money one makes is motivation to make more and as such, people go the extra mile to get it. But what actually amazes me is that, you spend your time, put your health on the line to make it, and when you do, sickness makes you spend it.

Logically the money that fulfill all your needs and basic requirements should be enough for you but humans wishes are unstoppable and uncontrollable , they always want more  so no amount of money is enough for them ,they always want more and more money . This greediness in human nature is present in them since forever they can never be satisfied.

Once they get something they want more and so on.

I think the biggest trick of it all is that your perspective and goals change over the years, making your current goal most likely a dream of the past before you even reach it.

It all depends on what 'enough' means for you.  Enough for you?  Enough for your household?  Enough for your entire family or for generations to come?  The more you 'level up', the longer you will want to reach.  When there is enough for you, you will think you are just half way through having enough for your household.  Then you maybe want to help out your family as well.  Maybe some of them are in debt and you would love to help them out.  So you need to make more, otherwise by helping them out YOU will have less.  We all have different needs and dreams and they change most of the time.

Then I can only think of how many people mess up after getting rich.  Many of them end up purchasing luxury villas and Lamborghini's, after which they realize they do not have that much more money left.  Imagine you had $2 million.  Sounds like a LOT, right?  But after you pay taxes, purchase the property of your dreams, cover every single thing you could possibly want right now, how much is left?  Would you be happy knowing you only have that much money out of what you used to have?  Greed is a b*.  And it is often hard to ignore it and resist it.

If you are thinking only about yourself or your own family and do not care about anything other than yourself living the life of your dreams, then that is where you will consider it is 'enough'.  Although I still think it gets harder and harder to stop the more money you make.

Enough that you can pay off the mortgage and never be in debt again. This world relies on loans and buy now pay later when we can escape that we feel free but that is the way it should be. I would say to protect against inflation to would be classified as "enough" that depends on how old you are though I do not need to much for the rest of my life.

I would want next to no money at all and be 20 years old Rather then be worth 1 or 2 million and be 65 years old.

agreed but most youngsters will say the opposite which is sad if you think about it.
Because most of them are not mature enough to understand what responsibility and life really is.  It is easy to give an opinion about adulthood when you have never been to a 9 to 5 job, have never had a kid, to pay taxes, rent, electricity, go through inflation with the same monthly income you had before the inflation came.  And so on.  And so forth.

You only start valuing time more and more as years go to waste.  A typical youngster has about everything they need.  Friends, parents, grandparents, siblings in general, money they do not have to work hard for, a bed, a roof above their head.  When you start losing any of the above you start realizing how much that one thing meant to you back when it existed.

It is sad, but I do get why they want to be adults.  It seems easy when you are not the one living the adult life.

And I can only agree with philipma1957.  Time has no price and I think there are so many people who would give absolutely anything to add more time to their life or live their young years again.  Anything.  You can have billions and trillions.  You can visit the Space and go to Mars, but you can not add time to your life nor can you go back in time.

Take a parent for example.  A parent who has lost their beloved child.  They could win the lottery and become billionaires overnight.  They can they buy anything.  Companies, yachts, the best dog breed in the world, the best champagne and food that exists on planet Earth.  But this one hole in their heart, they can not buy.  To them, no wealth is ever going to be enough to fill up that damned hole.  It is sad and scary, but it is real.

This is why I said in my last post that goals change with time.  As a youngster you most likely have a stupid dream.  Owning a Supercar, a house in Hollywood or whatever.  But decades down the road you may end up realizing that is not enough either.  You have a Supercar but you feel alone.  Or you have everything a Rich person would have and then lose someone close and beloved.  Your entire perspective will change.  After all, each and every one of us fights to fill patches of our life, heart and soul.  If you ever get to fill them all, you are maybe going to finally think it is enough for you to retire.  But I unfortunately do not think there is anyone out there who feels like all their wounds and empty spots have been filled up, because this is life and this is how things are.

We live in an era where consumerism is the basis of everything. So the problem is not how much money to have because it takes very little to spend it,It all depends on what one wants to do.

I believe that an acceptable standard of living without hardships and too many harmful vices can be achieved with an annual salary of around 150k€ living in europe.

I believe that life shouldn't be just a "I have to work or I won't eat" it's very much an end in itself as a thing and I don't like it at all, as you said previously time is the only precious resource, so working 10h a day for little more than 1000€ means living a condemned existence of being a slave of the society that imposes something on you. Freedom is acquired when the price of something interests you relatively because your purchasing power is high, so you don't care that petrol costs 10 cents more this month, you don't spend the day thinking that perhaps it would have been better save those €100 by not taking your girlfriend or wife to a restaurant.

Do you work to live or do you live to work?

the gap between rich and poor is increasing more and more also because people we see at the top of forbes lists as well as having dozens of companies that produce for them and who therefore bring in an avalanche of money very often don't even have much time to spend it, they are really a lot, that's why you often see news that they buy yachts and villas worth 500 million, it's the only way they can spend the money quickly. Or they buy artwork at random for several million. But in the end they are things as beautiful as they are useless. If I had to have a fortune to spend, I believe that in a lifetime about 100 million should be enough to be able to get rid of 99% of all the whims that may cross your mind.

it's difficult to start from 0, what do you do in a difficult situation like the European one? In Italy, especially, doing anything has become impossible, taxes and bureaucracy destroy young people who want to do something.
I am very particular and I don't like being given orders, so I find it difficult to be an employee and certainly there are many others like me who, even with a desire, have had to bend over to being employees by force of circumstances.

sorry the english the translator is not that good

Every new level has got a new devil
And more money comes more problems

There is no money that is ever enough

It is said that the day you stop working is the day you start dying  ,

The best one can do is to train his or her self to be contented with what life offers and make judicious use of it to achieve simple goals,

But so far as you've got an ambition to go further in life, no money is will ever be enough  because the real difficulty is not getting to the top but rather the real difficulty is staying on top. Thanks

Money can never be enough for any human in this life, money is like a spirit that is attached to human nature; if money has a limit whereby someone will say, "Okay, I'm satisfied today, I have enough money,"then those multibillionaire leaders of our country will never be selfish towards the poor and still be greedy of some minor things. Therefore, in my opinion, no one can be satisfied that they have enough money until they are dead.

For to spend life at least money is needed. But the question arise how much . It depends upon how are the possible resources to earn money. A truthful human being need basic needs and live a happy life . As compared a greedy person earn millions but he is not living a happy life. So in my opinion a 10 million USD is enough to spend a whole life.

Enough to be able to live without working for somebody else. Of course this varies by country. In mine for $200k you can buy a nice apartment. Don't stop investing and farm DeFi and you're good with like 300-400k. Of course DeFi farming is not passive income, you have to monitor a lot of stuff and be ready to transfer funds at all times.

The question of how much money is enough depends on the individual values, beliefs and life circumstances of each person. For some people, a small amount of money is enough to feel satisfied and happy, while for other people, no amount of money can be enough.
In addition, the concept of "enough money" can change depending on life stages and goals. For example, a person may set a goal to earn a certain amount of money to achieve a certain goal, such as buying a house or paying for children's education, and upon reaching this goal, consider that he has enough money.

How much money does a person need to live in the context of today's world?
The question itself is very good and the answer is relative.

According to Bangladeshi standards, an adult needs 2122 kilocalories of food per day.  It is possible to collect these calories if roughly 80 to 90 rupees.

Again if we go by the Burden of Basic Needs (CBN) theory, then adding an additional 30% on top of this 80-90 rupees will cost roughly 100 rupees to live.

On the other hand, if we go according to international calculations (Millennium Targets), 1.9 dollars per day means that one person needs 160 rupees per day.

Then if we divide people into 6 categories in the light of wealth ranking, namely upper class, rich, middle class, lower middle class, poor, and extreme poor, then the daily consumption rate will be very different according to the class.  A typical poor family can afford to drive a lot with the cost of a luxury car.

So what is the conclusion?  The conclusion draws on the last three categories, as they are the majority.  60000 to 8000.  It is impossible for them to live under it.  However, the costs have different relativities.  own house?  Does the child read?  Are there installments for purchasing fixed assets?  etc.

It’s a really tough question to answer because over time the $ continues to lose purchasing power. What might have been enough to retire 50 years ago would likely not be enough to retire now.

If for example you were 50 years old, I think you’d probably need $2,500,000 or something like that, plus a passive income from a pension to retire & fully enjoy life, not stressing about running out of money. If you asked me this question even 10 years ago my answer might have been $1,500,000.

This is why we buy bitcoin though ;)

no amount is enough, money is insatiable for as much as a man acquires, in same measure does his problems and responsibilities expand.
It has never been recorded that anyone relented from working because the felt they've had enough, we keep striving and trying to make more each day.

People never want to say that I have enough money now. He who has as much money as he wants never ends.

A day laborer or a rickshaw puller expects the amount of money he earns daily to be a little more than the amount of money he earns, maybe his life would be better. And an industrialist or a business-man, even if he has a large amount of money, he always thinks how to increase the amount of money.

So No matter what condition man is in, his wants will never end. If people's wants were limited or if people expressed satisfaction with little, then there would be no such thing as rich and poor in the world. The difference between the rich and the poor in today's world is because people see no end to what they want.

the answer to this type of question is subjective and varies from person to person. what may be enough money for one person, may not be enough for another, it depends on individuals goals, needs, and desires. some people may feel that they have enough money when they can comfortably meet their basic needs(good home, saved money for children's education, all that good stuffs) and have some savings for the future. others may feel that they need more money to achieve their goals or to live a certain lifestyle. It’s important to carefully consider your own financial goals and priorities when determining how much money is enough for you.

for me 500k is enough it depends on needs.

No amount of money is enough money. As long as we're alive and healthy we will continue to want more money. People may say if they have a billion then they will be satisfied but no one has a billionaire dollar just sitting in a bank without thinking of what to Invest in that can yield profit in overtime

I would  say money will be enough only if our problems are sloved but in the case that we still need money for our daily lives it is best to say it isn't enough I remember after working from Monday to Friday I will still bear in mind that I will be working also in the coming weeks so if money is to be assumed to be enough I would not have that thought of working again

The chase for money especially in this dispensation is never ending. People are willing to go all out and do anything (legal and illegal) for money these days. The real question that i am forced to ask is, how much money is enough money?

At what point will one say that he or she has had enough money?

The craving for wealth is innate in human nature, and this longing can never be fully satisfied. Even if one possesses billions of dollars, the thirst for more still remains. The real culprit is not money itself, but our desires. In third world countries many people live happily with a monthly income of less than $200, and I have personally witnessed families who survive with just $100 per month. On the other hand, there are individuals who possess millions or even billions of dollars, yet they continue to chase more money.

For basic necessities $1000 is sufficient but for a luxurious lifestyle there is no amount that can be deemed adequate. That's why to provide an accurate answer to this question is impossible, and nobody knows the desires of a human other then they themselves.

That's a great question, and the answer will vary depending on the individual. The concept of "enough money" is subjective, as it depends on a person's lifestyle, values, and goals. For some people, having enough money means being able to live comfortably, pay bills, and have some savings for emergencies. For others, it may mean having enough to afford luxury items or being able to retire early.

However, it's important to note that chasing after money endlessly can lead to a lot of stress, anxiety, and burnout. Money is just a means to an end, and it's important to find a balance between earning enough to live a comfortable life and pursuing other important things such as family, friends, hobbies, and personal growth.

Ultimately, it's up to each person to determine their own financial goals and priorities and to be content with what they have achieved while striving for more in a responsible manner

It's an issue that affects all of us.

I always see comments from super rich people, it says the following:

I would like everyone to get a lot of money, so they can understand that a lot of money is not the answer.

I agree with this statement, I'm not rich, but money is the means, never the end.

The money runs out even if you keep it, so if you ask me the most I need is probably around 2M or maybe 1M because you will just rotate it until it grows so in short there is not enough money for me. Because the world revolves, you are not at the top every day.
Maybe I can just say that you have enough money if you are a millionaire.

So far as life is concerned, people no matter how wealthy they are never gets enough of what they need as they keep on chasing for more money despite the huge amount of money they've made in their lifetime. It marvels me how despite all the wealthy and most influencial people in the world, no body had been able to gather the whole money on earth. I'm not against anyone that has acquired so much money and wealth but my concern is that no matter how much money you've made in your lifetime, everyone will leave this planet earth someday so why not give out some money to charity and also make provisions for platforms that will bring job opportunities to the youths and the society at large rather than just answering a wealthy man when you've not made any good step towards human capacity development.

In summary, no body gets enough of money because sometimes in life, we normally say if I get a certain amount of money, we will be contented and not look for money again but as soon as we reach such a level, our demand to acquire more money increases, so human wants are unlimited.

Things are getting tough every day and people strive so hard to look for money to feed themselves. The government have failed in providing jobs for graduates,  and give people the opportunity to start something. Places where the government don't provide jobs and the economy is hard for the people,  people will always want to do illegal things just to make money to survive.

To me, having enough money comes from the different determinations of each person. But based on my perspective, there is no amount of money that is enough, because as you get richer, you will have more expectations or things you need in life. So eventually, even if you are wealthy enough to the extent that your 10th generation will still spend money lavishly, they will still not get broke. Even if they don’t work again, you will still continue to look for the money. No stop because you will be thinking that any time you stop looking for the money, you will not be recognised again or you might get broke, and others will like to be the wealthiest in the world. So to me, no money is ever enough to stop looking for it. Because as long as you are still alive, you must spend, so you need to look for the money because money is an essential factor in life.

what is your daily living expenses and can have x 1 year for living expenses that is enough.
When you don't have a job or income, you still have enough money to live on.
If you want luxury, you have to work hard, if you ask how much money is enough, it's enough for food and other routine needs.

This is a very good question, how much money is enough money?

My dear there was no amount of money that is enough money for one to stop chasing money on daily basis, money has no satisfaction one can never say that he or she has had enough of money and didn't want to hustle again, and that is why alot of things are happening in this beautiful world, bad things are happening, people do all sorts of evil just to have money and one can do evil thing today because of money and when he or she have that money he or she will not stop that evil because he or she will never want that money to go,for example the ritualist, they keep on sacrifice human beings just to make sure the money didn't go down, how I wish money is enough for one to say he or she is done, the ritualist should have been the one you have a limit of sacrifice, but due to money has no limitation that's why they keep on sacrificing..
Another example that money is never enough, take look at our politicians how many of them are ready to stop politics no one everyone wants to occupy the position, even as they are in that position they are giving opportunities to only their children and grandchildren, take a look at the rate of unemployment here in our country today, why because those who are already in that position is not ready to give chances to another person,..

So in my own point of view i don't think there's no amount of money that is enough for man and women in this world and that's why I have man no rest it's because of money....

Enough were I'm not forced to work against my will.

Between 2-5 million USD would be enough if invested for financial security in perpetuity.

Past that it's pretty meaningless.

The more money people have, the more they lack. A person who has wealth of hundreds of crores of rupees is busy for more income, and a person who owns very little wealth is busy for income. Human scarcity will never be fulfilled, for me if I say one bitcoin amount of money will be enough for me but for future scarcity will remain.

how much money is enough money?

Enough Money means what? Everyone wants money to get better. But people can't know how much money they really want for him or her. Really I don't know why they need more money when they need 5 essential things like food, clothing, shelter, health, and education. I hope all of the people agree with me but also I can say that money needs for power. If someone holds much money for that he reaches the pick of power.

These types of people aren't happy to get a poor amount of money.

People say "appetite comes with food". Which means there will never enough money to satisfy a person. Right now people would name only short term goals, and name the amount they would need and spent during a year or several. How people determine how much is enough - they take the cost of a house or apartment, add cost of a new car, add their salary during 5-10 years and say that this amount is enough. But we have so many thing to try, visit, discover, purchase. So much that we need. When people start buying, more and more ideas and options appear. So there is never enough.

This is an openly wide question that could have millions of answers depending on each one of us.
It varies from one to another, a sum of money could be enough to one and non sufficient to another depending only on someone's lifestyle and money spending habits. Let's take an example of two different categories of people; one who grew up in a wealthy environment being used to spend money blindly without worrying for it to end, for this particular person money is never enough because it should always cover his spending. The second one is a person who grew up in a poor environment, always used to be careful on his spendings not used to get all what he wants most of the times, for this person a precise amount of money could be quite sufficient for him to admit that it is ENOUGH.

It is true that a human being's nature shows that he could never get enough of money, the greedy criteria of a person always pushes him to want more, as soon as someone reaches the point he wants he starts wanting more.

No amount of money is enough. The world richest is still striving hard to make more money notwithstanding that, what he has already made will last him for lifetime.
An economist said "human wants are insatiable", the more money you make the more the need for money arises.
It is a mystery which one can not understand, God made it like that. Provided a man has not yet acquired the whole world, he can't stop struggling for money. The more money the more the need for money.
Therefore nobody had had enough money!

I would say enough money is the amount of money you consider sufficient to spent the rest of your life writing a book....

The amount is of course depending on the person answering this question......and will likley vary...

To do anything legal or illegal? I wish it doesn't have to be anything illegal, it has to be a thing that will allow others to exist. Just imagine making all the billions and only you lives in 500foot by 500foot plot of Land or in whole community....
As for how much that is enough, I don't think any amount is enough... Because you have built or bought a house, have cars or jets etc is it enough to fold your brain, mind and hands? I guess no, when fold all this things, it means dying while still breathing... With this you can see that no amount is enough.. Because when you don't die while still breathing that means more money in your treasury...

Not necessarily concerned with the quest of being the richest or among the richest in a locality, your nation or the world. That can form a gateway to illegalities.
Everythings being equal I can't see any amount of money being enough... Because you wouldn't necessarily get more for getting sake but just being alive exercising your in built capabilities...

The reason they said human want us insatiable is not far from not knowing what will be of satisfaction because that which they want today if gotten can increase there want and need, even when shelters, clothes and food is there others thing that will attract you for more money will still come up example some are even looking for means to find another planet where live exist and travel to, although this may be relative but to human nature in general no money is enough one level of money can increase another level of demand for money so it continues to infinity.
