Title: Take my BTC from my Digital postage stamp challenge
Post by: krogoth on February 14, 2021, 09:04:27 PM
Well....been asked about that loaded online stamps password http://www.crypto-stamps.com/private3.html (http://www.crypto-stamps.com/private3.html)..which I think according to https://www.betterbuys.com/estimating-password-cracking-times/ will take about forever to figure it out.

So that being said, I made another one loaded with about $5 worth of BTC or 0.00010246BTC.

The BIP38 password is the answer to the following riddle....Goodluck!  ;)

Red as fire, yet fire I am not
Green as grass, yet grass I am not
Water I have, yet a lake I am not.

     What am I?

Was asked how to sweep the btc from the stamp.

Use your bitcoin wallet to scan the right qr code...thats the private key. It will ask you for a password..if its correct then it will sweep the bitcoin and you can send anywhere to another wallet address or sweep into the wallet you are using.

aaaand... swept!  ;D

tx is still unconfirmed, hence there is still time for someone to figure it out, and "steal" my precious sats...  ;)

I am getting worried here... my precious sats are in danger... prolly should I do RBF ? (after all those tx fees, not a lot of sats will left)

Its been online since 2017 and never been cracked.

No hints as the password was created by me punching keyboard symbols randomly to create a ridiculously 100 plus pass word that will take millennia to crack.

Thats why i did this one today with a riddle.

Maybe I'll try to emulate your exact random keystrokes?  I might be here for a minute or two.

Lol, I'm coming for your $4 in change.

Just kidding by the way, I'm not sweeping it.  I just wanted to see if I figured out the password.

Just 6 random characters would already make it expensive to crack, see I'm BIP38 curious, please help me out! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1014202.0).

I just wanted to see if I figured out the password.
I'm curious: what is it? I tried "I am not", but it's not that one.

"100 plus"?

Assuming these are only small caps alphabetic digits, a 100 digits passphrase would take at least 3.142931e+141 (26^100) trials to bruteforce it.
You have pretty much the same chance (or better?) by going after Satoshi's BTC stash at that point. :P

Well....here is another nice challenge that I think will be a bit harder and fun.....

You need to figure out the names of 20 forum members from this word puzzle. All taken from the collectables section today.

Once this is done you will need to place in alphabetical order the names and take the first letter of each name in order and this will give you the password for the private key

But thats not it, you need to wait until the 21st February to broadcast this timelock code. So in other words even though you have figured out the password for the private key, there is no bitcoin in the stamp. The coins will be available AFTER you broadcast the raw Hex code on that day, then the stamp will be loaded, then you can sweep.

Keep in mind its for Sun Feb 21 2021 00:00:14 EST. Blockchain takes a median time, in other words even if you transmit at exactly that time, an error might come up, as the median time lags behind real time, even up to an hour or two depending on how long the blocks take to be added to blockchain.

Code:
020000000103bfdaa1eb2ddfe0f3413737fafb043f0607229643ba5934fcc1ce7455e23f31000000006a473044022007da6d883ee0952139a8b97c7c89503f4c13e6f69e213eec838a23e35f8808e102207082958fb7f01920e1fc89b2b08fb946f9a43da5f2604e334e28318f6c837b0201210372a52f8ef2e3663507477f7f0cf1994c8cb46252ca22bed4425a70cab09deca3feffffff01bd270000000000001976a914675bd20c10471947aa3ae1ef323d01fa41e7e2a588acdee83160

     So to recap,

      a) Solve the word puzzle by finding the names of 20 forum members

      b) Place names in alphabetical order

      c) Take the first letter of each name and altogether they will be the password required to unlock the private key

      d) Broadcast the raw hex code here https://blockstream.info/tx/push on the 21st February 2021.

      e) Once that is done, the stamp will then be loaded with Bitcoin.

      f) Sweep the private QR code stamp with the correct password consisting of the first letters of each members name from the word puzzle in alphabetical order.

So even though you figure out the password now, you will still have to wait until Sunday, so many people can have figured it out, but still you have to beat your other competitors to broadcasting the raw TX and then sweeping.  Goodluck!!!

Fun!

Quick question, the word search is horizontal, vertical and diagonal? Or no diagonal?

Perhaps I can provide the answer to the riddle... with another riddle!

A green egg? With a watery red "yolk"? sounds refreshing... ;)  Also, it's all in lowercase.

I have a headache already... found approx 16 names, luckily I hang out in that section even if I don't post much there so most of the known names I know and are "easy" to find, well i needed to check the recent post from this section too, but those 4 are hard ones... If the headache is gone tomorrow I'll continue. It's really exciting, thanks krogo, I see you are still in a good mood. I love all your work man.

If I manage to claim those coins I will donate them to the SpamBuster club :)

Thanks for the puzzle Kroth.  This one is much harder, I must admit.  I'm up to nineteen usernames, and I found some that should be, lol.  I've had enough for tonight, I hope to find the last one tomorrow night.

Congrats on cracking the code, plen.  I guess it's going to come down who has the fastest connection and sets the highest fees, lol.  Good luck every one.

That's great news, and thanks for the tip plen, so now I have to find actually 5 not 4 names. It's gonna be fun to figure out which one is not included. Now I saw that the time of the locked transaction is actually Sun Feb 21 2021 00:00:14 EST, that means 05.00.14 UTC, I guess I won't be the first in that challenge but I'll try my best.

Oh I don't want to lead you on a wild goose chase. The member in question that I had to remove hadn't posted since 2015. I spotted a common word, did a member search and thought I had verified that they were active. Only after trying many things with me thinking I had the 20 usernames did I figure I got one wrong. So I revisited the list and spotted the error and had to thus go find the real 20th user.

I need to change my glasses man, that's horrible. I think I manage to get all the names correctly after 2 more hours of staring like a crazy.
Just a tip for the others. Printing really helps but if you are stuck, print it in a bigger scale like A2 and hang it somewhere far from you so don't ruin your vision. I found one name when just randomly look at the word list hanging on the door at work. It helped me, it could help you too. If I don't get too lazy to wake up that early, I'll try to catch the prize :)

20 was easy, 30 wont be difficult either, just some more time spent in staring :) The worst think is when I close my eyes I still see the list.. and those patches of letters repeating are so heavily stuck in my head.. I LOVE IT!!!!! Thanks for the great experience I haven't been reading so many random letters for years....:)

....this post is a result of a brain damage.. sorry if you read it the whole...

Agreed, and to make it more fun, just mirror all the letters so in order to solve it you need to use a real MIRROR :-D It's gonna be epic!! I love riddles, you can't scare me with it, if i had no kids i'll be the first one to solve them.

I wrote a small script to solve this.

Problem is I only have these names

['thursday', 'luzerviking', 'raghavsood', 'mitchell', 'haloxon', 'owlcatz', 'kryme', 'evilish', 'dumbastronaut', 'eclipse', 'mityme', 'xslyy', 'hellot', 'satslife', 'retrosoviet', 'moparminingllc', 'heisenberg', 'chibitcty', 'mindtrip', 'hunter', 'motoxguy', 'agrawas', 'jcga', 'liquidoptions', 'est', 'heisty', 'selassiesoildier', 'turbodogma', 'spokanistan', 'thenovemberman', 'room', 'philipma', 'janemil', 'windjc', 'krogothmanhattan', 'hanspetertt', 'cygan', 'azkabal', 'crypto', 'ezeminer', 'digicoinuser', 'sircyptos', 'polymerbit', 'hanspeter', 'litlitbit', 'edits', 'minerjones', 'canaryinthemine', 'mrcrypthodl', 'xenodata', 'elmejorrematador', 'heisenberghunter', 'phishead', 'yogg', 'cryptocurious', 'dozerz', 'owlctaz', 'fusioncoins', 'batesresearch', 'blucepheus', 'realediston', 'yimfinity', 'eodguy', 'mrcryptohodl', 'blackjonny', 'gatorelf', 'eclipseee', 'tweetious','thebreadedbaby']

you are definitely missing some OG members from the collectibles section from the above list (regardless if they are part of the solution or not).

Having said that, I guess that you are not expecting someone to just comment here the names that you are missing (ie a solution or even give hints) at least prior to the broadcasting deadline.

Since you went the extra mile and did a script to solve this, why not just put all the forum usernames into it, and run it?  ;)

I am pretty upset this has been moved to gambling...there is no gambling herevand no money being made...if anything it is educational with a crypto stamp being ready to be swept.

I wrote to the moderator about this and why it was moved.

I am not happy at all that we are in gambling. Not sure I will continue after this one. If you are as upset as I...please reach out to moderators in collectables....i mean people host free raffles in there with no issue at all.

There were names with numbers or a name with number from forum...but the numbers are not on word puzzle...just the name without number or numbers.

Jeez - I was wondering where this thread went , crazy !!! Totally agree with all who commented - no way should this be in Games and Rounds  ??? Wonder if you’ll get a reply from the mod Krog ?
Well done to all who’ve got the names so far - 1 more for me to get !
Can’t wait for the 30 name round too - you’re always coming up with some cool/different ideas Krog  :)
Anyway a few days to go yet - no surrender :)

Well I’ve got the 20 names at last - I reckon it took me about 3 and 1/2 hrs in total with the last one taking about 1 and 1/2  :)
Doubt I’ll be awake for the the actual broadcast , but thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and look forward to the next one ? Thanks Krog
Good luck to all on Sunday  :)

I'm in agreement with this, I think it should have stayed in the collectibles section.  I'm assuming this about bringing awareness for your cryptostamps project, which are collectibles.  Do we know which mod moved the thread?  I'd be happy to petition for future thread to remain in the collectibles section.

Too many clues, dude!  ;)

Well, I actually had all the names the night of the 15th, but I didn't recognize one of them.  Finally saw that member's name today and recognized it from the puzzle, lol.

Not quite sure why everyone slept on it, however, I managed to initiate a sweep, 6 hours after the 00:00:14 EST timelock period.

I also slept on it (pun intent) since 00:00:14 EST was really early on a Sunday morning (here in Europe), hence I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that the amount was still there,  after 6 hours.... (on a lazy late Sunday morning when I wake up.... LOL)

Due to the mempool overload, the minimum fee amount that made any sense, at the time, was around 40 sats/byte (transaction took around 2 hours to get confirmed). Anything lower than 30 sats/byte (with 130k unconfirmed transaction at that moment) might take many hours/days to get confirmed.

That was actually a donation to the miners, since I got a total of around 65 cents out of it... LOL (0.00001134 BTC)

Awesome challenge @krogoth ... keep up with the good work!  :)

I have a list, in alphabetical order too. :D

I feel like I am not the one who should make the call to reveal it (or not), since this was not my challenge. Just providing the list, will not make any good to those that struggle to find all the names. They will need to see where exactly all the names were located.

0.00001134 BTC (the equivalent of 65 cents today), might worth $65 someday. However, the 65 cents (in terms of old dirty fiat) might become totally worthless one day...  ;)
