Title: Is it impossible to level me up? The Merit questions of member guy Post by: Dread on February 22, 2021, 07:49:54 PM ..so, Is stay to impossible to become a full member now?
Just watch at me..i was a member over several years ago and stayed till right now. I saw a members with 300 merits - funny...how to get a full member? Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? The Merit questions of member guy Post by: jackg on February 22, 2021, 07:52:56 PM It looks like a lot of your posts are in the altcoins section. I think it's hard to get merit there as there are a lot more posters in it than on the other boards and potentially less worthwhile discussions (or worthwhile ones are camouflaged). Do you ever post on the higher bitcoin related sections or here in meta?
Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? The Merit questions of member guy Post by: LTU_btc on February 22, 2021, 08:32:39 PM I think it's difficult to get merit without posting. I see that your last posts were made 2.5 year ago. If you would be more active, I don't think it's difficult to get some merits and rank up.
And as said above, Altcoin board isn't that place where it's easy to get merit. If you would check merit stats, most of merits are given in Bitcoin related boards (what is normal thing for Bitcoin forum) and Meta. Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? The Merit questions of member guy Post by: Rikafip on February 22, 2021, 08:34:35 PM If you think that's it is impossible for a new member to get merit and rise through the ranks, just check The future of Bitcointalk: Low Ranking Top Merit earners in the past 30 days (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5185736.msg56395125#msg56395125) and you will find bunch of low rank members getting pretty decent amount of merit month after month.
You still being a Member rank even though you created account years ago has to do with you writing mostly in altcoin section and being inactive for almost tow and a half years (from August 2018 up until now). Be active and write outside of altcoin section and you will eventually rank up. Currently there are more merits available than there are good new members so if you are at least decent poster, others will reward it. Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? The Merit questions of member guy Post by: Upgrade00 on February 22, 2021, 08:42:28 PM I saw a members with 300 merits - funny...how to get a full member? The requirements for full member rank is 100 merits and 120 activity. You already have the required activity count and 12% of the merit count. You've seen members with 300+ merits, which goes to show that it is possible to rank up on the forum if you put in the required effort. This is a Bitcoin foum and anyone using it would need to be acquainted with how it works, with a bit of more effort you'll learn something new and be able to join discussions. Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? All members except merit source have a limited number of spendable Merit. so as not to merit every post, you must write something worth and helpfully to other people. I checked your post history and I found nothing that I could reward with merit. it's all up to you. Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? The Merit questions of member guy Post by: qwertyup23 on February 22, 2021, 11:51:22 PM Judging by your post history, you mainly post on topics which are filled with spams. Also, people rarely merit users under the altcoin section. If you truly want to earn merits, improve your post history by contributing something in the forum. I know it is easier said than done but lots of users who started as a newbie managed to earn thousands of merits in a matter of months.
Don't be in a rush and just take your time learning every step of the way. Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? The Merit questions of member guy Post by: tranthidung on February 23, 2021, 02:39:07 AM ..so, Is stay to impossible to become a full member now? It is possible.Quote Just watch at me..i was a member over several years ago and stayed till right now. Your destiny is decided by your attitude and your works (posts in the forum). You can stuck at your rank or rank up to Full member rank or higher ranks, all depends on you.Quote I saw a members with 300 merits - funny...how to get a full member? Please read two topics, available answers are there. Quality is over quantity and quality does not equal to length of your posts. Some posters try to expand their posts as lengthy as possible. They did not realize that readers don't want to waste time to read. Additionally, such posters don't care to use commas, conjunction words and can not succinctly describe their ideas.
I'm hoping that this system will increase post quality by: - Forcing people to post high-quality stuff in order to rank up. If you just post garbage, you will never get even 1 merit point, and you will therefore never be able to put links in your signature, etc. If you make ten thousand posts in a week, your activity will be capped and you will still be a Newbie. If you make ten thousand useless posts over any period of time, you will gain zero merit and you will still be a Newbie. You can rank up only by making good posts consistently. It's quality over quantity. When trying to write quality posts, a lot of people act as though they're writing a book report for school: putting facts that we already know into their own words. Nobody wants to read that, and you will not get merit for it. Moreover, the length of your post and the quality of your English are only minor factors. In trying to write a quality post worthy of merit, you should offer new ideas, personal experiences, or perspectives that other forum users will actually find new and interesting. I think it's hard to get merit there<snip> I think it's difficult to get merit without posting. OP, both of the above points are valid and they're likely the reason why you haven't ranked up past Member. You'd been a member for over 2 years prior to the merit system, so there's no excuse for you not to have reached Legendary by now if you really wanted to. The issue is that you didn't post enough prior to the merit system, and you're still not posting a lot. Unless your posts are outstanding, you basically have to make a lot of posts and hope they get noticed by someone with some sMerits to give--and you haven't even made 400 posts in total since you've been a member here. I'm not sure what you're expecting. Yeah, it's hard to rank up and has been for the past 3 years--and it's supposed to be that way. Where were you when the merit system was rolled out? You should know all of this. Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? The Merit questions of member guy Post by: YOSHIE on February 23, 2021, 05:09:10 AM 100-12 = 88 Full Members are in your hands.
I saw and studied board Altcoin not interested most of the members who excel here, learn more "unique, antique, something new" seems many members like it, That kind of topic or post that you should strive to generate 88 for you, it's not funny if you do, however, if you don't do something good for the other members here, then it's funny and you keep complaining. Actually the members here are very generous if you see members who are broad-minded and educated, that's your key to reaching the full member rank. Your interest in becoming a full member is high, your ideas and insights must also be high, both are equal, for balance. Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? In fact there are a lot of examples of members on this forum who have become even legendary members just thanks to their own efforts and work here. It all depends solely on you and no one else, really. If you can share with others on the forum something that is informative, constructive or valuable, others will reward you with merits. If you can’t give other members anything that would benefit them, you can’t expect others to reward you. No one here has conspired against you and your progress on the forum but this is an open race in which only the best win. Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? The Merit questions of member guy Post by: Findingnemo on February 23, 2021, 02:17:28 PM OP, take a look at your posting stastics : https://ninjastic.space/user/Dread
More than 90% if your posts are in altcoin section and the remaining are in local and childboards of altcoins which is the reason why you didn't made any merits. If you want to rank up then posting habit should be changed, you can follow someone who is making more often which can help you make some. Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? If you really must level up, start contributing more in technical forums. If your posts are worthy of receiving merit, you will receive it. Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? The Merit questions of member guy Post by: isaac_clarke22 on February 23, 2021, 04:53:34 PM It's been a while since we got another "merit" thread here, huh.
@OP You were already registered here since 2016. Merit system was already implemented back in 2018. You should be aware at least that you need 100 merits to become a full member by now. Edit 1: Seems like OP is desperate to rank up, I see. OP didn't post for almost 3 years plus the account password was changed and the account just woke up from long period of inactivity. Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? Copper membership give the features of Member rank only and since OP is already a member rank account he no need to buy copper member because he is going to be same as before.@OP I guess OP is already aware of the merit requirements that is why he is saying that earning merit is difficult for a low ranked member accounts. You were already registered here since 2016. I don't see an official announcement that he was appointed, but judging by the total amount of merits he has sent (over 2000 sent while earning only 600), I would say he is a merit source. You can try to get his attention, but I would be careful how you do that. Begging for merits can get your account tagged. But it should be fine asking questions and asking someone to take a look at your posts, and decide whether they are merit-worthy or not.
Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? The Merit questions of member guy Post by: zanezane on February 24, 2021, 12:27:33 PM You have to create more topics that are of quality because the older users in this forum can't easily be pleased. If it is not of their interest then you will be set aside, I do agree with their standards but if you are an older member as you have said, don't you think you should have figured it by now that you need to up your post quality? Besides, why do you want to even rank up, there isn't much merit to ranking up besides being able to be paid more in signature campaigns and besides that is nothing. To answer your question in the title, it is not impossible to level up, there are users here that came from becoming a Member to a Full Member and then to a Senior Member and so on, go to where the Merit Sources hang out and post there, there are some that are generous enough to give you one merit.

He is not in the list of Most generous merit senders, all time (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=topsendat) and from his merit history page, he sent away very little smerit in recent months. I am not sure what happened with his sourced merit amount or he simply has been lack of ability to distribute his sourced merits.Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? I think your posts and commitment to helping others on the forum indicate that you deserve it. And yes, perhaps there isn't enough merit distribution in anything Altcoin section related, but there's so much sewage in there I don't blame people for not wanting to wade through without a hazmat suit. Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? The Merit questions of member guy Post by: lovesmayfamilis on February 26, 2021, 09:04:31 AM When he woke up three years later, the OP wrote an accusatory post that he had not been promoted, and again, apparently, went into hibernation. But the question was asked, and as an example, you can answer that sometimes with one post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5313637.msg56238191#msg56238191), you can immediately become two ranks higher.
And I am sure that there was no selfish interest here, which cannot be said about the OP himself, who, although in jest, tried to achieve merits. :) for 1 merit i can to help you;))) just close your eyes and open your mind)) close your PC and trade for fun Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? The Merit questions of member guy Post by: iamsheikhadil on February 26, 2021, 11:35:43 AM The only thing that can stop you from being a higher ranked member is yourself, just put a bit more effort, try to learn more about the topics here, try to share your opinions on things you know as well as ask questions for stuffs you don't know but would like to know, and try to blend in the community without thinking about how much merit you have, you will see you will soon start to receive merits without even noticing it, you will be ranked up, post in a way which will make yourself give that post a merit had you been a merit source!
Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? The Merit questions of member guy Post by: Pmalek on February 26, 2021, 12:40:29 PM I am not sure what OP expects will happen to be honest. As lovesmayfamilis pointed out, this thread is the only post he made since 2018 and he hasn't contributed anything else to the forum.
@Dread How do you expect to rank up if you aren't active on the forum and you have no posts that appear anywhere in the recent 3 years? Users merit new posts they can see and that they find useful. No one will look for members who were active 3 years ago to see what they wrote in 2018. Start taking part in the discussions and things might change. Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? The Merit questions of member guy Post by: Timelord2067 on February 26, 2021, 01:31:41 PM Most of those who have responded to your post deserve merits. You do not.
You woke up two weeks ago and recovered your password via email. How long were you asleep for? You have received just two merits from someone called cfif (one of those merits is border line, the other not warranted AFAI'mC) - to make matters worse, you gave your one earned merit back to cfif under three minutes after receiving the first one from them (most of the users on that same page are now banned which speaks volumes of the quality of the work on offer) (Your one and only merit given was for a Russian Language post - you stopped writing in Russian on the 6th of February, 2018 - two days after receiving two merits) I count four or five German language posts at that same time (mid Feb 2018) but at no other time. 315 posts/315 activity, one borderline merit post. Title: Re: Is it impossible to level me up? The Merit questions of member guy Post by: hahay on February 26, 2021, 02:39:30 PM Yes, you are an old user but unfortunately you have just woken up and the rules regarding rank up have changed regarding the Merit system, I think you just need to start being active again to make quality posts, because only then will you get Merit and increase your account ranking. It's still possible but it takes hard work!
