Title: History of Crypto Art
Post by: Dezentro on February 23, 2021, 11:39:22 AM
Hi!
I am new here but truly happy to have found this very active platform!

Currently i am searching for something like a "timeline" of crypto-art, a histogram or anything similar, from which i can understand the evolution of this sector, see the name and work of the artists involved since the early days...

best i found up to now is this one here:

https://ostachowski.com/about/what-is-crypto-art/history-of-crypto-art/

...but i guess it is not complete!?!?

do someone has an idea, where i could find something like that with a little more depth? - any help would be very much appreciated and thanks to all of you in advance!

Regards,
Dezentro

wow thanks a lot! ..this are 2 very good links! -- also if this is not exactly what i am searching for, i am sure i can get something out from it!

while continuing my research, i could identify 2 different timeframes about crypto-art:

1. 2019 to 2013
2. 2014 to 2021

the second one starts at the early versions of NFTs, until today and is pretty good documented, cause its in the nature of NFTs, that they will stay FOREVER! :)

the first period was before the beginning of NFTs and art at this time was much more inspired by bitcoin and crypto, so the focus and subject was crypto, but the art wasnt necessarily build on a blockchain.

i could found 2 project up to now:

2011 - Mike Cadlwell
Casascius Coins

https://www.wired.com/2013/12/casascius/

2012 - Colored bitcoin

If anybody has some more infos about art-projects between 2009 and 2013/14, please feel free to share them with me! :) THANKS A LOT
