Title: What is merit system
Post by: Mayorluke on March 15, 2021, 09:48:22 PM

Merit in my own  understanding is when you carry out a particular task accurately without any atoms of error, but here in bitcoin forum l still need to know the requirements needed to gain merit,as a newbie or a beginner in this forum it is my duty to "ask" an as to" know"the kind of post that should attract merit. So with all due respect can someone help me out with my quest because i really want to work on my post this very moment.
To be i think a post that attracts merit should be educative and knowledgeable in contents but i'm left blank and confuse at the same time on how merit should be given in a forum,so i stand to be corrected.

you understood well which posts deserve merit, yet it is not necessary for a post to be educative and knowledgeable if you provide some good and useful information for someone, where users helped by that information can award your post with merit.
You need to know, the number of merits available to each user is not unlimited so you can't expect easy merits.

I suggest you read this official FAQ about forum rank and merit FAQ: Everything you need to know about forum 'activity, account ranks and merit (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2766177.0)

I think you will show me or teach me the practical example of how merit look like for real,or does it mean that this post cannot be awarded with a merit  no matter how limited your merit.

You will not gain even single merit if you keep arguing with people about how to have merit.  Instead, it might be helpful for you if you will start reading sticky topics that pinned posted on this board.  You will never notice that merit will come without your expectation.

Your account registered about 3 days old, there's nothing to hurry, keep engaging through Bitcoin technical stuff and join with a helpful discussion.  There's a high chance that you will receive merit.  Your post is good though, there's a good potential waiting for you sooner or later.

Merit sources are looking for newbies like you that willing to learn and explore on this forum.

he hurried with the answer here to get some merit for possible wit, but my post and advice was not fully read or understood. If so, he would find this rule from the link I posted, and there would be no need for further clarification.

Quote
Can I ask for merit?

There is no need to do this and this behaviour is usually seen as 'merit begging' which is frowned upon by the community and may lead to you receiving negative feedback. Keep making quality, constructive posts and you will surely be rewarded over time.

I checked your post history, maybe to merit you somewhere, but all posts are completely useless and none of them does not deserve to be awarded.

Not necessary. People with merits will give if they think the post or comment is worth it.  Showing you merit? You can see it when some received and has a green merited on their topic post or comment.

The post you engage is inquiry. For a newbie this is typical but of course it will depend on the reader how can they interpret this kind of post as meritable or not.

Merits are not that easy to earn and it is also not easy to give, it depends on the quality or content of a certain posts or reply.

Some newbies here are so eager to rank up without even making any efforts or time in making informative posts which will really contribute here in this forum.

If you post the same content and idea about a certain topic then that's useless especially if that is so cliche and people are so used to it. Just do your best here in this forum and help each and everyone to become updated or knowledgeable about what is happening around the world related to blockchain technology and cryptocurrency.

Yes, in an ideal sense posts should be helpful in some way, however, merit is given by a person and you can't really predict what a specific person finds useful to them. What I would suggest is to try and be active on your countries local board by translating articles, giving useful information to new people, reporting scams etc. There people will be more generous with their merits and you can help out more by keeping that part of the forum active and a good resource for anyone that would like to get into crypto but maybe does not do so well with English.

suggestions have been made and I think you should follow them. earning merits will be frustrating if you keep thinking that a post you made should be merited because you think it is helpful or informative. a lot of newbies have complained and given up because they keep thinking of how to get merit instead of actually learning and sharing information. if I were you I'd stir clear on how to get merit and focus on learning and sharing information on something that you are interested in.

Merit system: it's a process that grants or determine the acceleration or elevation of each and every member who find their self here to be use to occupy a certain hight.

These are some reasons or factors while merits are given

Merit is given as a symbols of meaningfulness of post•

it's a criteria to show a concern of new innovation or welcomed development of the community via introduction of something unique that Worth emulation•

and it's also given because of quality communication or conversation in the community•

and it doesn't given base on out of sympathy or longtime stay in the forum or community•

So therefore merits is an encouragement which can be given by a member in the community who have Smerit, and it enables user to step forward in rank and without  merit no growth for a user.

A little extra from me to consider.
1. Avoid posting just for the merit, it can be excruciating and burdensome.
2. Explore the potential that is in yourself and do it naturally and consistently.
3. Don't beg and don't complain about merit.
4. Increase knowledge by reading, obeying forum rule, and doing all of that well.
5. Don't rush to move up the rank and earn merit. When the knowledge gained has been applied, then naturally merit and rank are guarantees. Merit do not prevent anyone who is willing to contribute to move up the ranking. Know how it works and sooner or later it will be achieved.

I think you will show me or teach me the practical example of how merit look like for real,or does it mean that this post cannot be awarded with a merit  no matter how limited your merit.
Contribute to forum and member. Just be yourself and don't try to be a troll.

I don't know if the rest of you are noticing it but, there is a tone about the contents contained in OP that portrays aggression, putting it to someone that is obligatory that, the answers needed must be provided either we like it or not!

I mean, its your right to ask questions as much as is everyone's right to choose either to answer or not. Eithics will tell you that, there is a way to be about asking questions, claiming your right in a rather polite way because, the other person is of freewill to contradict as in this case. It doesn't seem okay with me!

Anyway,  merit simply means deserving or advantage depending on context in the sense of the word but out her @Bitcointalk forum, its a way to award a post to be of good quality. So, the merit system is simply, a system of meriting posts of good quality as a way to promote good posting habit in forum users and discourage shit posting.

The newbie account, which every day creates a bunch of new useless topics, has already been compared to artificial intelligence. OP, tell us about your purpose, with which you came to the forum? Why do you need merit? And, perhaps, for a truthful answer and with the condition of stopping the creation of many empty and unnecessary topics, you will be rewarded with merit.

You need to know, the number of merits available to each user is not unlimited so you can't expect easy merits.

I think you will show me or teach me the practical example of how merit look like for real,or does it mean that this post cannot be awarded with a merit  no matter how limited your merit.

As an example, if you are so knowledgeable about everything, do so accordingly.  :)

Probably the easiest way to get a sense and slight understanding of all this, is to simply take a sneak peek at those posts that are being merited. More specifically, the recent merit (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=recent) list is a good starting point, showing those posts that have been merited over the last few day.

No need to mimic anything, but just to grasp a common denominator through example.
