Bitcoin already proved that it is better than fiat. Though i also think it is too early to say anything about it. But i think we can say it because we already see the power of bitcoin. It is better than fial, savings, stock market, gold or real state too. A place which is a combined of everything then why it can't be better than fiat. I also agreed with your point too. But why government can't agreed? Its answer is also same because it is a thought which is a out of everyones thought. Then what we Should do? Nothing just party with our profit from bitcoin.

Some are thinking, bitcoin will end up the corruption. But it's not a correct concept.Corruption only end with the giver mindset changed. Because to make the work easier, we are giving them a commission. Even if we buy a bike, we will give some commission to the sales person. It's only to speedup the work.

As with everything else, it depends where and how you want to use it.

Is Bitcoin better than fiat for daily use? Nope and nope. Buy bread and butter with Bitcoin, or make your grandparents do it.

Is Bitcoin better than fiat as a store of value? Definitely yes.

Is Bitcoin better than gold as an investment? Currently, yes. In the future, maybe.

You are asking this question on a Bitcoin forum, so one would assume that there will be a clear bias towards Bitcoin being the superior currency. Although, just to throw a little curve ball I'll bring up a point which I think is valid; The better currency is what suits your needs, and is in line with your goal. For example, if you aren't the risk taker, and you are saving for a house Bitcoin might not be the best thing to put your money into. Instead, a savings account which offers interest might better benefit you. For example, in the UK we have various government schemes where they will put a certain amount per earn based on how much you deposit.

That's just one example out of hundreds that could be listed. Basically, Bitcoin can be very profitable in the short term if you want to take risks, and cash out into fiat. Fiat currently is more accepted around the world. To go back to the housing argument, if you were to buy a house its very likely that you'd find that the people selling aren't willing to accept payment in Bitcoin. So, to buy a house you would likely need fiat.

However, if you believe in Bitcoin you might want to stick your money into Bitcoin, and hold onto it. Either, until its hit a certain price point which you would then withdraw or keeping it to use as the primary currency later on. Especially, if you think that Bitcoin could hit 1 million for example, keeping just 1 Bitcoin, and not touching it could potentially serve you well in the future.

Its down to your circumstance, and what you want to use your money for. There is no real better currency as we all have different needs. Objectively, if you were to look at the pros, and cons I could probably list more pros on Bitcoin's side, especially not relying on third parties, however that is also subjective, and depends on the person. Some people like to rely on third parties, and dare I say it I believe certain people might need it. For example, the fraud protection that banks have in place is actually somewhat of a good thing, and can protect those that are likely to fall for various scams.

Both does have pro's and con's which we can really make out some differentiation between the two but never ever in my thought on thinking that Fiat would be replaced by Bitcoin.
Its really an impossible thing to happen no matter what as long government do exist then its impossible for any crypto to totally replacing out fiat because people would really still
consider on using that stable fiat on most situations even though it does have criticims for most of the time but we cant really deny when it comes to relevance.

However, in my opinion, there's no betterment among them because they had both pros and cons. We know that the fee was the barrier of bitcoin that becomes a world transaction used just like fiat, the goal of Satoshi was failed because of the high fees. But when it comes to storing value, bitcoin has pros compared to fiat while storing on the bank.

That is a little insight that I gave to you, these are not comparable like you are comparing gold or other valuable assets to bitcoin, bitcoin is different among others. Maybe I guess, another reason is too early to give an opinion which is clearly bitcoin as of now it has a huge fee.

For both of its uses, I say that it is better.
Bitcoin as an investment is better than fiat and someone who keeps it will find it appreciating than depreciating just like fiat. With fiat, it's what we use in day to day living. We want to see that one day bitcoin is the medium for buying everything.
But due to the fees, it's real that it is high and can't be done unless transactions are off chain which don't incur fees.

Personally for me bitcoin is being much better than fiat. I just keep using fiat because I'm forced to do it in order to have access to daily products and services. If it was possible I would fully adopt bitcoin as currency while protecting my patrimony against btc volatility by buying properties or valuable goods and assets like gold for an example.

I doubt Bitcoin can do much to stop corruption, even if you try to track government spendings on blockchain, there's still a lot of room for embezzling funds through various schemes. And a big part of corruption is not the lack of detecting it, but lack of willingness to take action against it.

Bitcoin and fiat have different requirements and importance, Just as we need bitcoin, we also need paper money. Bitcoin is the most useful to perform quick and instant transactions. It is not possible to transact quickly and in a decentralized way by using fiat money.
As Bitcoin is decentralized, so there is no need for the involvement of any 3rd party services and people could make transactions with the lowest cut-off fees than bank transfer.
On the other hand, fiat money is mostly used currency and people can use it here and there in their daily life. So we need fiat money to liquidate our Bitcoin, and you can't deny one of them cause both of them are important and has their own purposes.

'being your own bank' is something you'd expect quite a large number of people to be interested in via Bitcoin, to also add the control, freedom, anti-inflationary nature and other whatnots, but yet only just a handful of the worlds population is actually interested in Bitcoin for one reason or the other, the most visible reason would be the risk concern associated with 'self-banking'.

Having said that, people who would think 'Bitcoin better than Fiat' would be people who appreciate the nature of Bitcoin, being somewhat entirely different from Fiat, this are people who understand the risks involved and how easy it is to 'stay safe' from scammers, and then Bitcoin is also an investment opportunity, and definitely investors making ROI from Bitcoin would also lean to the support of Bitcoin.

Thus the thing is, it's a somewhat subjective case, people who are comfortable with Fiat and do not want to associate themselves with the risk of being their own bank will obviously go in favor of Fiat; that's why it's impossible to handpick the currency that's better, the question should be which currency is most suitable for a particular person and why.

It is and it is not.

Fiat money is supposed to be an easy medium of exchange. Bitcoin is not. You can't grab a hot dog from a stand or a coffee and it's not because of lack of acceptance or even fees because fees can be adjusted. The main problem now is time between blocks. 10 minutes is too much for cheap fast stuff you want to get on the go, like gasoline.

It's better because of all the decentralization and no middle man stuff but fiat is still much better in some instances.

Bitcoin is great than a fiat. It's not a extreme statement.It was purely my opinion. Even though we had analysis the crash between US dollar and Chinese yuan.But this bitcoin investment make it the new competition in the currency world. In many manner bitcoin was a greater than a fiat.

If time comes that the society and the world has already adopted the use of cryptocurrency where fiat and bitcoin can be interchangeable it's uses freely and anytime then i guess from here we can distinguish properly which one is better. Because as of the moment, both coin were important and has it's own uses depend on the needs of the people that uses it. But honestly speaking, bitcoin was more valuable kind of coin compare to our fiat, because here in our country owning even 1Bitcoin if i would exchange it in our fiat it will now give me a million worth of coin.

Fiat and Bitcoin both have positive and negative sides of course. I can't say that one of them is completely better than the other. But I'd like to say that Bitcoin's popularity continues to rise every year and its usage also broadens. People are really curious about it as its decentralized structure and its being a futuristic version of money. Yes in certain circumstances, bitcoin can help many people to sending money whereever they want without help third party. If we compare with the current system (bank) you may need bank to sending your money also the time for transaction proccess takes a long time, at least three days if you use western union.

Also, bitcoin can stand in any economic situation, as you can see now when pandemic comes almost all money fiat in any currency experiencing inflation because the government made a bunch of money paper to help their economic back and that is a bad situation for moneu fiat's value.

I agree with you. Bitcoin seems more functional than fiat to me. But the volatility in the price really makes me uncomfortable time to time especially if I have an investment.  ;D  But still it is really a huge freedom for us to have the full control of our crypto.

If we consider Bitcoin as a payment tool, it is still too early to say 'Bitcoin better than fiat'. There are many weaknesses that Bitcoin needs to improve to be better than fiat. Bitcoin cannot be used in any place in the world as a payment tool, while fiat can be, especially dollar. Bitcoin also has too big volatility as a payment tool. It makes people hard to determine the value of Bitcoin as a payment tool.

While as a digital asset, there is no doubt that Bitcoin is more favorite than fiat. I bet people who already know Bitcoin investment, prefer to put their funds in Bitcoin investment than storing the funds to the banks. Bitcoin allows us to get much bigger profits than saving money in the banks. Also, it is easy to do it if we have had enough knowledge about it.

Actually I think they both have some unique ideas and way of doings. We all know that bitcoin and other cryptos are definitely a unstable or very volatile. We do actually see this as a positive side because it has a very negative effect on us and in our some investments. Yes, bitcoin and fiat has advantages to each other in different aspects but I rather transact using Bitcoin when it comes to a sum of money as the transaction fee is too high compare to what it is used to be. There's also a definite reason unto why Bitcoin isn't accepted globally such as the anonymity of every users on bitcoin which can easily lead to illegal activities.

Bitcoin is better than fiat when it comes to international transactions as sending funds isn't an issue whether it's a high or a low amount of transaction. It also has security measures especially to the user's identity as  it's rather hard to track to. But just as I said, I would rather not transact with a small amount due to fees. Also the volatility of bitcoin makes me think of it as a digital asset rather than a currency, I also think that it's one of the reason why it won't be used as a international currency. We might see currency be digitally soon but it won't be bitcoin but a stablecoin such as USDT or BUSD. 

Fiat and bitcoin are both usable in our daily lives,  in short those two are good if we use it at the same time, like using bitcoin we can make fiat to support our daily need to survive, to provide the needs of our family.

About your topic title "is bitcoin better than fiat?" my answer is no, because those two have advantage and disadvantages, like bitcoin is not suited for peer to peer transaction, like if you're going to buy something in the department store you need fiat for that so fiat is better than bitcoin in that situation but bitcoin is good for online investment, or suitable for online transaction.

yes. as is known, dollar has been fighting for the position of fiat and many wars were launched by the US to protect its fiat status. now, dollar is getting defeated by bitcoin and blockchain, which is very pleasant. if there is fiat, then American will spare no effort to win :-X so bitcoin, to some extent, saved some violence and dispute. thanks to Satoshi :D

I'm not doing any research but I guess there's a handful in the past, or even now, although not as large-scale as Bitcoin. Even in my country, I heard of a community which uses its own money which is not in any way acknowledged, much less sanctioned, by the state.

Bitcoin is better there is little doubt about it and it is because of this governments are so nervous about this, they did everything they could to cheat their citizens out of the gold standard and while many think bitcoin will win in the end what is it going to stop the governments from cheating people from their bitcoin in the same way? The next decades are going to be interesting as I think we could begin to see central banks getting bitcoin and maybe even trying to back their currencies with bitcoin in order to lure people to them once again.

Which is better it depends on use and your need. If you going shopping for your family from offline markets where Bitcoin isn't accepted, then you have to use fiat. There is no alternative and you have to admit here fiat is better. But when you need to send money out of your country then it's easier to send through Bitcoin. So in that case you have to admit Bitcoin is better. This is a Bitcoin forum and most of the users here support Bitcoin. But as I told still world needs fiat. We can't totally remove fiat for various reasons. Not sure what will happen after 100 years.

In my country i cannot use bitcoin for my daily needs, so i will prefer for fiat.

I still think that bitcoin is better than fiat. There are some countries which print money regardless the amount of gold in their country, it makes inflation which make some people poor. Although the price of bitcoin is still volatile but I am sure that someday it price can be more stable and people can use bitcoin comfortably. There are many new experts in world business such as Elon Musk who get involved in bitcoin so I think Bitcoin is better than fiat, it is proven by those businessman who bought bitcoin it is mean that bitcoin is something worthy.

I do prefer fiat too because bitcoin is not still a niche subject in my country so I will have a hard time looking for businesses that accepts bitcoin and I will look like an asshole if all I talk about is bitcoin, when it comes to investing, I think that both things are best that is if you know where to invest it in, I mean you can have a steady passive income stream by investing in Index Funds.

Though Bitcoin shows its convenience already with what you mentioned, without the use of ID verification, there are still many things to consider with it.
Even though there isn't KYC verification, we still have mining fees that some have problems at.
Speed of transaction is quite an issue to some as well unlike fiat that personal transaction done is == to transaction instantly done and concluded.

Is BTC better than fiat?It depends on what you are using it for.
I would say BTC+altcoins have become more similar to digital fiat,due to the KYC policies,which are required,if you want to use a crypto exchange platform or if you just want to buy cryptocurrencies.
Nowadays crypto exchange platforms look exactly like the fiat FOREX trading platforms.The only difference between crypto and digital fiat is the price volatility and the potential profits you are going to make.
If you comparing keeping BTC in your own cold wallet with keeping fiat money in a bank account,I would say that keeping BTC is definitely a better option,despite the fact that bank deposits are guaranteed by the state(to a certain amount).

Yeah too early to tell, but based  on current situation, if it comes to using it as a regular currency to make day to day transaction, then no, it is unfortunately not better than fiat. Of course the technology behind crypto currencies is very innovative and impressive, there are still some drawbacks that are making crypto inferior when compared to fiat. If we are talking about being volatile I think cryptocurrency is one of the most than the fiat currency if you are talking about the price movement as we can see the previous year the economy down because of this pandemic and as you can see the fiat currency down and it takes a lot of months before it recovers but if you are trying to look with the crypto after a month it's already recovered the price of it in just a short time it's good feedback.

The comparison of fiat currency and cryptocurrency is a very large differentiation factor, because looking at it from angle of existence, fiat is already in existence before introduction or adoption of cryptocurrency, so now based on the popularity of cryptocurrency across the nation people still value fiat more than bitcoin, most especially old adults in the society.

If you can use bitcoin and still have fiat money in your country, but you can not find a local store that accepts bitcoin, you will think more about what is better between bitcoin and fiat money. You are comparing decentralised finance and centralized finance on the same line but in actual there is huge difference between them.One currency provides you freedom from centralized authorities and you are owner of your funds whereas in fiat government is actual owner of your funds and whenever they wish they can have them back from you.We have discussed this topic before hand on this forum many times also and all crypto enthusiast considers Bitcoin as superior currency than others.

Fiat cannot be replaced completely by Bitcoin or other alts as main source of payments until the long run due to its vast network and people trust and ease of use.So both have their existence at this time.

There is really much divergency about this question. I'm one of the Bitcoin supporters in this. Because it is the money of the future. But I also think that it won't be used as a main currency by governments because of its volatility. But Bitcoin is really helping for digital currencies to be developed by goverments to be prepared for the future.

It would be strange to hear on the Bitcoin forum that fiat is better. You won't be able to print a lot of bitcoins, as is the case with fiat money today. Thus, it saves from inflation. Banks' rejection of bitcoin is an inconvenience for many. People cannot pay for essential goods, which cannot be said about fiat. I wouldn't compare bitcoin and fiat today because they still have big differences. Therefore, today fiat works for me to spend, and bitcoin I prefer to keep and not spend as long as possible.

This question is always here and its answered so many times still it pops up again and again. BTC and Fiat have their own importance in daily life. We still need fiat to live our everyday life. We can't buy a bread using btc. Both are different ecosystem and cant be compared.

I use bitcoin or fiat money for different purposes and i think that bitcoin is much better than fiat money, but it is always not easy to pay with it everywhere. Cryptocurrencies are digital paperless money. Many people have literally taken advantage of the decentralized currency and used it for investment. I hope that very soon there will be a lot more critics possible to pay with.

In some ways; decentralization, immutability, scalability, lesser transaction cost etc. But, in terms of holding it as an asset, it is very volatile. It can be $100 now, in 5 minutes time it is higher or lesser.

Both bitcoin and fiat are better than each other. This is based upon the way we make use of it. For an user who is much used to fiat and doesn't have much knowledge about bitcoin will state fiat to be the best, same time user who have profited out of bitcoin just by holding will mention bitcoin to be better in all aspects.

In terms of usage Bitcoin is at its early stage, because the acceptance level is slowly increasing whereas with fiat people get the easiest access through different payment gateways and applications developed for the purpose.

So between Fiat and Bitcoin has their own advantages and disadvantages and also depends on who is using them. Bitcoin is another option as a digital payment that is more revolutionary and more transparent, while fiat is a traditional payment that can be used by everyone from all walks of life. 5 minutes? I think you are getting the idea of volatility too exaggerated. And making a change by 1dollar in the price of an article needs a significant movement of price. That though is less likely everyday.

Of course you wont want your gramps to use some cyberpunk currency that can be easily stolen in the hands of a less tech savvy person. Even then the current generation if supposed to be able to use crypto more, does not - because they are less knowledgeable about. But yeah bitcoin definitely has a better capability than conventional fiat but fiat upped their game too, you can also send fiat digitally so I think that they are tied when it comes to that. May we say functionality wise but not this time. If only the majority sees Bitcoin is better over fiat, they will surely run to it and adopt but it never happens. Even I was promoting cryptocurrency and we are here to bring awareness to the community but we can't deny that Bitcoin isn't fully ready enough for a huge adoption. If that instant confirmation is sustainable, it could be the time we feel it was better than fiat money.

Maybe not for daily use but Bitcoin is better than fiat in many aspects:
1. Decentralized and limited supply so no worries about deflation / inflation headache
2. Cheaper transaction cost and faster.
3. Lower energy cost. Imagine how much electricity those banking institution use to run their banking business.

Bitcoin is legging only in the tx fees for smaller transactions in my opinion. Because of this high price and because of the congestion of the mempool, fees for smaller transaction is high and this is the only thing which is not helping bitcoin to be used in daily life.

Bitcoin right now is being considered by many as an asset than a currency. Fiat of course is money used by countries and it is basically what all of us use for us to be able to get our needs. Bitcoin is not being used right now as currency but rather as an asset that can be used to secure a profit in the cryptocurrency market. So, for me, there is really nothing compare between the two. We convert our fiat to bitcoin and then let the market decide if we get a profit or not.

Well there both have their differences and usefulness, it's certain that we can't buy most of our daily needs using bitcoin why? Well, for me there is no comparison between both of them because they had pros and cons to us.
Bitcoin, for now, is not good for microtransaction, it is good for huge transactions and if you don't care about the fees. You can transfer across borders without having a problem and afraid of being questioned by the bank or the government and cause you money laundering. However, in my mind bitcoin is not good for now for making transactions but if the purpose of saving it in a long term for a good investment, I agree.

Bitcoin already proved a lot of things for many people as well as the fiat currency but we cannot say that bitcoin is better than fiat because both currencies have a different purpose. I do think that Bitcoin might actually be better than Fiat in our country. My opinion depends on our country since I am living on a third-world country and owning Cryptocurrencies is a great idea because it gives me freedom to do things. Its also necessary to learn Bitcoin or just learn about Cryptocurrencies as a whole because it can give someone a career that is unexpectedly good. I agree with your opinion. And with Bitcoin, I don't think the aim is to replace fiat. Because governments wouldn't like to use a volatile currency. They will make their own digital currencies in time for sure but the current type of cryptocurrencies will most probably continue to be used as an alternative. And another reason for governments not to prefer them is their being decentralized of course. You can't find many countries who would like to use a currency that is not under their control.

Technically you can still track someone using bitcoin if people following you are government officials, they have the right to ask the store you purchased something you info eg- IP address.
I would also have to disagree on fiat being traceable, it isn’t unless you get raid on due to some suspension, Note ID numbers are unique but no one cares to, nor they can memorise that ID also, I don’t think anyone registers that ID when you use that Fiat Note.

Bitcoin is way more better than fiat in many ways. Just like how bitcoin is a decentralized currency while fiat is issued by the government which explains why everyone is still using it and trusting it. The difference of bitcoin's volatility with fiat is very far from each other. Fiat usually increases or decreases very little depending on how well the economy of a certain country is doing. It's just that people are not able to see how much better bitcoin is compared to fiat, maybe because of the publicity and legalization, or maybe because bitcoin is not like fiat where we can physical touch it and use it to spend with our daily needs.

And the answer for me to the question, "Is bitcoin better than fiat?" - there can be only one, - it can only be better what is more profitable for you to keep at the moment. Regardless of the price level for Bitcoin, I try to keep 50% of cryptocurrency and 50% of fiat in my portfolio. Personally, i don't see anything wrong at this stage to have the conclusion that bitcoin is far better than the fiats, the world has find itself into this mess of inflation because of inflation which the government can't control that landed the whole world into huge debt. Well for me both currency are useful, valuable and worth it which both can be used to purchase goods and services. How can you say that? Whether we like it or not but for now Bitcoin is not good enough to be used on a daily basis. For the average person it may also not be the best store of value yet as it is too volatile. It has the potential to become the best in many aspects though.

It is very difficult to make bitcoin a currency because the price of bitcoin often goes up and down. at this point in time only traders who are willing to take the risk are willing to accept bitcoin as a means of payment. Besides, we use online payments in order to pay our bills and here in our country we can convert bitcoin and other digital currency into a fiat money that is also stored  in various electronic wallet like gcash and paymaya so we can use it to pay bills and buy our necessities online. There is no need to go out and carry a paper Fiat money, and we can prevent the virus from spreading, hassle free. You just sit in front of your computer or cellphone and make a transaction. Simple and easy.

Investment-wise, Bitcoin is much better than fiat as this is practically a tool and an instrument in making profit and being able to make your money bigger. Fiat, on the other hand, is the handyman tool in purchasing in the real world, as for me fiat is much better tool for payment than bitcoins. I would rather pay fiat for the meantime for good and services than bitcoin. You paid 10,000 bitcoins before for a pizza which became millions then I think that is too much, but alas we don't know what the future will bring.

Fiat currency is no investment at all unless you trade different fiat currencies against each other or sell it short. It is a store of value (or at least supposed to be as there is inflation) while Bitcoin these days is not that close to being a store of value in its narrowest sense. It might become one soon, but it's volatility speaks against it for now.

It is convenient for me to pay with cryptocurrency, but often not with bitcoin, but with tether, it is more convenient in making payments. I do strongly agree with your statement mate that bitcoin cover's fiat's current shortcomings, honestly speaking bitcoin has a high value than fiat's currency but both currency are useful and significant in their own area. But as the quality of life gets higher and so the needs to update the quality of life and to have another source of income to meet the needs there is where bitcoin prove its great use. It is now the newest trend source of income that needs knowledge about blockchain.

people use fiat as far as i know than digital money on common daily. but, they have reason to use digital, like if they get cashback from transaction or discount if use any digital on app. and fiat, i mean, it just a paper.

In my own opinion, Bitcoin is better than fiat because you have a full control with your fund. It is anonymous and no tax implemented (in our country). It is easy to use, hassle free, you can make transaction anytime as long as you have internet connection. But despite of that, the fact is we still need a fiat money because we can't use bitcoin all the time to buy goods and services because there are only limited stores that accept bitcoin as payment. If we have bitcoin, we still need to convert it into a fiat money before we can use it in other means.

I totally agree with your opinion, friend, bitcoin and fiat have their own advantages, they can't be separated, like day and night, like rice and fish, need each other, like adam and eve, like romeo n juliet, they are a perfect match, who always strengthen each other, need each other, and cannot be separated, cannot be compared with each other, because they always live side by side.

They do really have some big differences but to look upon on where crypto do really get its value? It do came from fiat right? Centralized and Decentralized.
Anonymous and Trackable, volatile and non volatile, these are just the basics but both do really function on the same way in terms of payment but there
are notable differences like irreversible transactions, anonymous and cant be controlled.
This is why crypto did really get some recognition and popularity because of these main characteristics.

Not that early to tell but we're still in the process to see that every country can say that it's better than fiat. But IMHO, there's no need for us to compare the two.

We still need cash as most countries haven't adopted bitcoin yet and we have to use to pay for our needs. While we own bitcoin, it's a good investment to hold and someday, hopefully that more stores we can use it for expenditures.

Both types of currencies have their respective advantages/disadvantages. In other words, no currency is perfect. I've said this many times already. Bitcoin is better than Fiat since it's sound money outside the scope of governments and central banks alike. But it's terrible for day-to-day payments because of the wild fluctuations in price. Bitcoin is more suitable as a long-term investment (like Gold) than digital cash for mainstream payments. While Fiat is stable and backed by the government, it's constantly manipulated and controlled by said entity. No one will be able to transact freely using Fiat, since any transaction deemed suspicious can result in the seizure of funds.

Depending on your situation, will be the type of currency to use for debts public and private. Neither Bitcoin will replace Fiat or vice versa. I'm okay with that as long as Bitcoin "sticks" to the core values of decentralization and censorship-resistance. Just my thoughts ;D

I see what you mean. At its current state, Bitcoin is terrible for day-to-day payments. That's because the main blockchain network has limited transaction capacity. Fortunately, there's an "off-chain" scaling solution dubbed "The Lightning Network" which aims to make Bitcoin a true digital cash system. The real challenge would be dealing with volatility. Stablecoins are a much better option in this regard, but they're limited to the underlying Blockchain network's transaction capacity. But bitcoin currency value changes due to its price increases or decreases. So, if a user stores money in bitcoin its dollar value changes due t its price. I totally agree with you. the thing still for me which is limiting Bitcoin as the ultimate Currency is just that Daily user case limitation. We are not even close to that at the moment even in well-developed Nations let alone places where the knowledge is very minimal. But for every other thing, I believe that Bitcoin is great with, Store of Value and Fund transfers are best with Bitcoin. So as you said, I too don't believe that it can be wrapped up in one go but can be seen in the bits section where Bitcoin is better than Fiat.

Fiat is not an option considering how it has worked until now but it is what people use so adoption is there, infrastructure there it just misses the core function that BTC provides - transparency and immutability.

It really is a can of warms, none is yet perfect but we're leaning towards the next best alternative - and this may not be either of them BTC or fiat for some of the reasons above.

When people save fiat of course only aims to meet the needs of life, fiat is not for investment, the value of fiat will remain even decrease due to the influence of inflation, this is different from bitcoin which continues to increase because global users and communities continue to strengthen, bitcoin can function like fiat and We can also use it for investment.

I am not sure whether lack of infrastructure can be taken as a negative for Bitcoin. Fiat currencies have existed for many thousands of years. The Mesopotamian shekel was first minted in BC 3000. On the other hand, the first cryptocurrency was mined only in 2009. So it is natural to assume that cryptocurrency infrastructure may take a few more years or even decades to get stabilized. But we are already moving at a brisk pace. With every passing year, cryptocurrency is becoming more accessible for ordinary people.

That's certainly true, mate. Bitcoin is still new to the world, unlike Fiat. There's a long road ahead before Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies become stable enough for mainstream use. Scalability and volatility issues need to be solved for Bitcoin to reach widespread adoption in the mainstream world. Otherwise, it'll never be able to compete directly with Fiat. At its current state, Bitcoin is terrible for day-to-day payments. But that's bound to change in the future as the network improves with subsequent upgrades rolled by developers. If it wasn't because of Bitcoin's current limitations, I'd say that Bitcoin is ten times better than Fiat. Maybe someday our dreams will come true, putting an end to Fiat's hegemony. At least, Bitcoin won't be going anywhere because of its decentralized and censorship-resistant nature. Just my thoughts ;D

Bitcoin is not better than Fiat but greater in my own perspective because almost what might be difficult for Fiat to accomplish, Bitcoin had covered those lapses making it a better way of running business easily without running to bank for confirmation of transactions delaying businesses especially those ones that involves larger funds.

Bitcoin is money on it's own and also an investment that can generate big and interesting results over time. For buying and keeping Bitcoin, many had become so rich above there imagination which our mere Fiat can never do. In my opinion, it's not about bitcoin being better or worse than FIAT, I believe bitcoin came to show that there are other ways that are much more interesting to make your investments more profitable than traditional models, because with bitcoin people have more freedom to take care of their money. Bitcoin gives us solution for the limitations which exists in fiat currency. Bitcoin and crypto might have some different limitations. Both the currency formats have their own pros and cons. It depends on how we are looking at it. Crypto is in early stage of development so it would be too fast to compare it with other forms of currencies.

I will always say BTC is batter from fiat money because we can easily do any payment within very short time and accurately. And in this busy world this is very important and needed. On the other hand this is risk free and there is no middle men that we always see some problem in fiat money transaction. But one problem is still on ground that is BTC still not accepting all govt and all places. I think when it will accept everywhere, fiat money will vanish.

very interesting to discuss bitcoin and fiat both are equally important depending on the needs I'm sure many people will choose bitcoin for investment but if for daily needs fiat is the right choice because not all countries accept bitcoin as a medium of exchange.

Bitcoin is a mean of payment regardless of whether the government legalizes it or not. You can accept personal payment in bitcoin "if you agree" even though the government has made regulation. So far, the government's ban on the use of bitcoin as a mean of payment has not had a major impact on the growth and interest of users to trade bitcoin or use it as a mean of payment in other countries where it is legal. It's just that you need to convert it to fiat if you want to shop in a country where it is prohibited.

Even though how we much hated up Fiat for being too centralized and having that inflation problem but still it is something that most people been using.We cant just really make out digital transactions from time to time

Both currencies, fiat and crypto serves their own purpose, I agree with dunfida, both are essential in this generation, it gives us options to choose from, we can't really just forget about fiat because it has existed ever since, and it is true that both have its pros and cons, Bitcoin's volatility is considered as a pro and a con since too much volatility can be bad, and this is why fiat is needed.

I think one day, may in next 5-6 years when 99% of the Bitcoin will be mined, the price of Bitcoin would be stabilized and with Lighting Network or other Layer 2 solutions we could see Bitcoin as a currency. But at this moment Bitcoin is just am Asset and maybe in Price Discovery Mode.

I think so, if you talk about getting the most secure and popular platform, I think it' better than to choose bitcoin than other FIAT. For some reason I think Blockchain is really difficult to be hacked or other cyber crime, that's why I like using blockchain. But make sure you choose the right platform, so you won't lose your assets

I think they both have their advantages. before there was bitcoin, fiat existed first so it would be difficult to compare with fiat even though bitcoin has many advantages as said. if indeed both can run simultaneously why not, it will even make it easier. people can choose both or choose one of them. but we also have to know that in addition to the benefits provided there will certainly be risks in it, so we must be careful. whether it's using bitcoin or fiat.

I don't think crypto will replace fiat money. It seems to me that all the same, even in a certain distant future, there will be goals for which cryptocurrency is intended, and goals for which only fiat money is intended.

I see bitcoin itself still has some weaknesses, as well as fiat. but for now, fiat is more familiar and has received recognition from the government as a transaction tool. but on the other hand bitcoin also has advantages over fiat. So I think that if both are used, they will complement each other and make people's lives easier

There's no doubt that Bitcoin has many weaknesses. But Fiat is not as perfect as its proponents claim it to be. A person will ulitmately determine which type of currency depending on his/her needs. In some sense, Bitcoin is better than Fiat because of its completely decentralized nature. People can make use of Bitcoin without fear of getting denied access to their account, or their funds frozen by a third-party. That's not the case with Fiat as it's heavily manipulated and controlled by central banks and governments alike.

Unfortunately, Bitcoin's unstable prices makes it a terrible currency for day-to-day payments. It's why Fiat is still king when it comes to making payments on a daily basis. Bitcoin works more as a store of value than anything else. I believe Bitcoin will remain an alternative to Fiat than a replacement for a long, long time. Just my thoughts ;D

Bitcoin better than fiat in all aspects do you know why now that inflation is increasing the price of bitcoin is also increasing massively but if your money is in fiat, the way inflation is increasing your fiat is stable. So maybe if you plan on buy goods worth 100$ and maybe you are yet to buy the goods after few days the price might have increased to 110$ if you are holding fiat your money will be stable and you will have to add money to get the goods but if your money is in bitcoin the way the price of goods are increasing bitcoin price is also increasing.

Exactly, Holding Bitcoin is profitable but it is not good in all aspects, as Fatunad mentioned that Bitcoin is irreversible, as a human being you can do mistakes at any time, so using the irreversible property globally is really too risky. If you send funds to someone mistakenly then there is no chance to recover your funds or seize that account. For doing banking activity we must have to use a reversible asset like fiat or something like that. we need to use both bitcoin and fiat in our daily life, and Bitcoin is better than Fiat in various aspects but not all aspects.

That notwithstanding, haven't you seen the way in which most fiat currencies around the globe are becoming worthless with the high rate of inflation coupled with the high level of fiat printing in some countries? Bitcoin /cryptocurrencies in general and I mean the top ones are a good place to invest and kinda save you funds these days and even make good profits from it too but this is of cause not saying Bitcoin will replace fiat but at the moment, I will rather have my assets in Bitcoin than hold Fiat.   

Infaltion is there but we cant really deny that we are still living in a world on where it is heavily dependent on fiat and i dont see any reason on why Bitcoin should really be compared off with fiat and minding that
it could be replaced by it anytime soon?  Its an impossible thing yet fiat would still remain even though lets say that it is much better with fiat but it would still remain no matter what.
There are things which Fiat do really function to be more efficient compared to bitcoin.Im not belittle on bitcoin but this is the truth.

Why do you say once the regulations come into play? That is what is going to kill off the industry once and and for all if the greedy politicians get their way. I'm afraid the effect of regulation is already taking place in a lot of countries in order to prop up their own currency with inflation concerns.

I guess it is more better than the fiat but in some other areas that doesnt have internet and even cellular phone to use, i guess fiat is more useful for them. I believe that whatever it is fiat or bitcoin can be use and more convenient in a different way and in different place.

I think both Bitcoin and fiat have their advantages and disadvantages. So I assume that the two can complement each other, so far I still can't say which is better. I use fiat to transact and Bitcoin to trade and invest.

 Btc and fiat have their respective advantages. They can not be juxtaposed , because the function of each is clearly different . fiat has no added value or if it is stored the value will remain the same. In contrast to btc , btc has the potential which if we save it can increase or decrease which is unstable . This is what I think they are the best in their respective fields and uses.

maybe every digital-based.investment or a business that is fiat will certainly have the impact of their respective advantages and disadvantages, as for example today where the digital system in bitcoin can be done anytime with an unlimited nominal amount, but it is the same with fiat which can also be used in an urgent time, because with such conditions.the party is really needed by its users

I wouldn’t say it’s better because fiat has its own benefits and anonymity.
-Fiat is good if you don’t want to rely on the internet
-Crypto is better if you despise the banking system and the idea of infinite fiat to be printed (This is ofc belief-based)

However, they both can work hand to hand with one another.
