Not always the case. Consider that you have bought 19k price point ATH in that year 2017 and decided to held up for 1 year? Whats the result? you are still on loss.Would you consider on selling it just because

Because every 4 years there is halving of BTC price and the price pump well most commonly happens right after halving in almost a year. I guess that is the perfect time to wait even you did not look into the news or the market price. Something like a saying of, "wake up me when the BTC price will rise".

One year is really a short period for Bitcoin to multiply its price too much I think. Generally, HODLing for a few years helps people make a great deal of profit. And there is no need to follow the price movements every day as the goal is not keeping your money on Bitcoin for a short term.

That is not entirely true, no one can say with certainty whether BTC will rise or fall in the future. In the crypto market everything is possible, chances are he will lose all of his money after just one year.

For traders, reading news and events is a very important factor that makes their decision wise and helps them what to do next when some bad news comes out. Holders will always follow the strategy of holding and selling some depending on what the situation permits but more of holding than selling. If this bull run will keep running until next year, yes you're right that someone who buys today will eventually profit from it.

Rewarded for those who do truly waits but there are instances where patience do really put you on other situation like "missed opportunities" also making extreme amount of
gains will be basically sticking out on the most trusted coin in the market which is bitcoin itself basing of on total cap and value.

Important thing here is that you shouldnt invest on the amount that you cant afford to lose for at least when the market do turn opposite on what you are expecting or anticipated

Hold bitcoin into something that you do know the risk behind it.

Theoretically, you're going to get profit because if you just based on the supply and demand you can guarantee that the market price of bitcoin is going to pump and bitcoin is gonna cost more after a year.

But you need to make sure for the right time to buy bitcoin and the right time your gonna sell that bitcoin, In the 2017 Bullrun, we did experience around 20k$ and then drop around 3k$.

So if you going to make a sell in the scenario your not actually going to make a good profit, so you need to consider buying at the dips and selling when the price is at the peak.

One year though holding though won't give you a good profit specially for average joe. Unless you are a whales that has a lot of money, it's possible. As the price increase, the exponential growth might slow down. Last year should be the best entry point of holding, when the price goes down at $3850, and 1 year later the price is already at the $60k range. But the thing is, it's never too late to invest, then maybe 2-3 years holding, or at least when the bubble gets burst again after a 4 year cycle.

Mystery crypto market for anyone. crypto may not necessarily experience a significant increase. sometimes there can be drastic falls, so I think if we just sit there we will never be able to fully gain wealth unless crypto is really at a high level steadily for the next few years.

You would have to buy a substantial amount to become rich. If you bought $100 and the price goes up 10x then you will only have $1,000 in one year which is a long way from being wealthy.

Regardless of short term price movements, it is still a good idea to be holding some BTC because the trend is that it always goes up if you wait long enough. This is what makes it a good store of value.

Holding BTC for one year doesn't guarantee being wealthy. Especially if you buy in a wrong time, for example buying in bullish season, then one year next is a bearish season. So, if you want to buy this time and plan to sell your BTC one year later, I don't think it is a good idea. You are better to wait for a bearish season to plan a long-term investment like this. It should be more effective for hodling than forcing yourself to buy this time at a high rate.

Since you're coming from the speculative asset prospective, my advice / what I do when investing is that I forget about the investment and take my mind off it. That way, reducing the obsession or maybe anxiety that comes with it. Doesn't mean that this is the best approach but at least, it helps keep you less agitated.

Plenty of factors to be considered with such statement for you to become wealthy, and I'd like to name a few.

1. One year is most probably too short for you to be holding Btc and expecting something great in return. You need be more and more patient.
2. It's inevitable not to listen to news or care to check on how crypto/Bitcoin market sentiments has been going on.
3. The amount of money you pour into Bitcoin does matter once you want to consider being wealthy when ROI comes.
Example, If you bought $10,000 worth of Btc at $60,000, do you think you can call yourself wealthy even if Btc will be trading at $100,000 a piece a year after? That's not even a 100% ROI.

Investing in Btc and aiming to become wealthy isn't as easy as you think, coz If it does, a lot of people must have been wealthy by now.

In one year? Absolutely not necessarily, the BTC price can go simply go down after the long elevation. It happened in 2017 and though the price didn't decrease dramatically in 2020, still the trend was going rather down, than up. A long-term investment that would really make sense with Bitcoin IMO is 5 years at least. Sometimes it's good to read news and be in the swim so that you can be prepared for corrections and don't purchase at a high price.

If the newbies hold their BTC a year, they are not traders but investors/holders. I never hear yearly trader, just know daily or weekly or monthly traders. By the way, it is not a correct way to not update the news about crypto at all. If you mean, it will prevent you from selling the Bitcoin, you can use other ways. Reading news about crypto is needed to improve your knowledge and update your information about the crypto world. Don't just think about profits, but thinking also about how to improve your knowledge, experience, and skills.

One year is not enough for me ;). I have been holding Bitcoin for almost 3 years now and that is still a short period for me even I read the news about Bitcoin.
What is best for me is THINKING LONGTERM. Stacking Bitcoins anytime or using the dollar-cost averaging(DCA) method to buy Bitcoin is also the best method if you are planning to hold Bitcoin long-term.
To be honest, if I want to buy Bitcoin now and cash out for a year, it seems not fair to me since I am using my extra money to buy Bitcoin and if I don't need any funds after one year, there is no reason I will cashing out it at all.

no one can really say what the next one year will be like, profiting might take more than a year or two, so people who are prepared to hold for long time are not bothered about price at any moment until they have successfully held for any number of years they wished or attained a profit level they want by setting a notification for it. having this kind of plan will keep you off of checking price everytime which is not needed. it also goes along with having a strong determination.

Considering the fact that all the altcoins have been dumping ever since 2017, bag holding any of them has left people with massive losses up to 98%. So in other words the altcoin bag holders only have 2% of their initial investment left in their bags.

Similar to others I am with the opinion that we must keep looking after our portfolio now and then. You can't just ignore it completely and that is also not perfect way to multiply your bitcoins. There are stuff viz., day trading, stop-loss, limit market. You can sell high and when btc is at its lower side then buy from these profits. Keep repeating such cycle and see your portfolio grow a lot. I guess that is the perfect way to do it.

Indeed I agree that just holding and forgetting about your coins could be beneficial. But at this point average person can't afford to buy whole bitcoin and there won't be much change in your portfolio if you are holding 500-1000 bucks. For better change, a little hard work is needed for sure.

Setting it only a year, I dont think it will make you rich. In a span of a year there will so many possible sideways, bearish times. What if you bought at 50k usd today and then you hold it and set to sell one year from now and then bitcoin crash half of your bought price?

You should just set your target profit regardless how long you hold your bitcoin. If your target profit hit, you can actually sell it off even you didnt reach that one year.

So what makes you think that the next year, the price is going to rise more than now? You might even end up with half the money you invested next year lol. This is not how you should be holding. The best way is to make a profit (or a loss) goal and then keep on holding. If needed hold for several years. Once you reach the goal (or you are exhausted), then cash out your profit and reinvest your capital if you want to. And remember, sometimes it is good to let go or sell instead of holding forever. I kinda feel like hodl forever is somewhat toxic and harms everyone in a negative way.

Can't tell that in crypto, unlike if you do the deposit in the bank and in a certain time you will cash out and have some earning percentage but here in crypto, not all had paid off especially when you buy Bitcoin during the bullish season. Yes,you are right. My one friend earn some bitcoin in 2019.  He has not proper knowledge about bitcoin or  crypto currency. At the end of 2020,suddenly he enter the coinbase account and he was shocked. At now, he has $125 bitcoin. So, if anyone buy bitcoin and cannot think about it during one year. Hopefully he will earn a great profit.

Selling our holdings is the last options that we could take in the pressures of every situation. If we allow those deceptive tactics of bigger investors, then they'll really wanted to paid off on banning speculations so they could purchase btc again at cheaper value. Depends on the situation. There are times that bitcoin will dip, to the point that you'll start to worry about the huge investments that you've made on that particular coin. Not moving your assets is a good thing though, and holding them until the next spike is the way to go. However, when bitcoin starts to dip it takes a really long time for it to recover and reach its peak, or even to go beyond the last spike value. Though I am certain bitcoin, despite it's fluctuating value, will always recover from dips, so my advice is to buy more bitcoins when the price starts to decrease and hold onto that coins until the next increase.

Those people who became rich doing that are lucky for sure. It doesn't work that way all the time, maybe it could if you can predict what's gonna happen in the future like buy plenty of bitcoin on the year 2018 and hold it up until now because you know bitcoin's price is gonna reach almost $60k dollars on this specific year. Also, you can do this if you are already rich and doesn't really care about bitcoin's price change since it wouldn't affect you even for a bit. We do not really know yet how long will this pump keep on going, anything can happen within a year. It's just either you'll benefit a lot or regret a lot if you are planning to do this holding for a year and staying out of the news.

This is not reliable, even though we wont do anything to our bitcoin for 1 year, it won't still promise us five good profits, if that is true then I think a lot of investors and holders now are rich and it will look like to be easy money when it comes to cryptocurrency. This decision Won't be a right choice for bitcoin investor. Like every year is not same for bitcoin of every year is not for best news for bitcoin holder. Just those year who bought bitcoin 2018 ATH. You need to reconsider your idea as the value of Bitcoin right now is very close to its ATH. Buying Bitcoin now and ignoring its value is dangerous. It is very difficult for Bitcoin to grow a few dozen times since last year because it was only worth $ 4,500 last April. That is the first bottom price of Bitcoin. It's safe to buy from that location and not now.

One year is not enough, it's not so simple. If you bought BTC in March 2014 ($600), you'd lose a lot of money in March 2015 ($230) by selling. If you bought in March 2018 ($9k) and sold in March 2019 ($4k), you'd also lose money on this. There is no assurance that you will make profit holding within one year. There are so many factors that may affect its future prices. I have heard a lot that those who lose are those who panic excessively when the market corrects. Market corrections have often happened to Bitcoin so it's too worried and panic selling will only make losses.

Three years is a decent time to profit from the BTCitcoin market simply because we have a clear idea about the date of halving and that will boost the price and if you have that timeline then you can consider it as the safest investment.

Although, you may be right in certain cases, it is not always true that you'd be in profit if you buy and hold for a year. The issue here isn't holding for a year, it is actually finding out after a year if you're now in profits.
A good example is the bill run of 2017 when bitcoin hit an ATH of 21k. Let's assume someone did bought at that price and held it for a year, the person would be running at a loss if he decides to sell it because the price dropped in 2018. In such case, one would be willing to wait another and maybe more if necessary.

I do advise hodlers to avoid checking the price or getting updated about the price until the set time is completed in order to avoid getting worked about the fluctuations in the price of bitcoin

I think one year is too short for holders to get rich, it would be better if holding Bitcoin is around 5-10 years to get rich. But it is very difficult
to hold that long, sometimes we are very curious about the price of Bitcoin. And if the price turns out to be a very deep dump, will make us panic
and finally Bitcoin which has been in holding for several months has been sold back. Or it could be that it has only been a few months of holding
Bitcoin that there is an urgent need to finally sell the Bitcoin that we have bought. There are so many factors that can make our plans for holding
Bitcoin fail in the long run. It takes a firm commitment from ourselves, whatever happens holding Bitcoin until the time we have specified.

Hodlers doesn't panic when price experience a big dump, thus they see this as an opportunity to accumulate more. There are some hodlers that keep accumulating whatever the price is because they believe in bitcoin potential. If you hodl bitcoin for so long, You already know for yourself that emergency funds are needed in real life so that you can't touch the bitcoins you're hodling or sell assets at a really bad price. It's just a simple life rule to save up for emergency funds first before any investments.

You just misunderstand the point mate, the most wealthy individual are those that do their homework every well and seize every opportunity the market pose, it just about holding cause if invested at the wrong time holding will still not be profitable. Besides, buy now when the market price is at a peak and cashout in one year won't be a profitable decision cause the market will be in correction or blood bath then.

Well, that is a good decision but I think 2 years is only a short term of holding your bitcoin, you can hold like 5 - 10 years for sure that bitcoin will be rising on that range of holding. Holding bitcoin is no doubt that you will gain perhaps 10 times fold right after the years that I mentioned above. People will continue adopting bitcoin will have an effect on the demand and supply and that causes bitcoin price move due to that matter, so if the adoption will continue, it becomes larger the supply becomes less and the price becomes more expensive. However, everything is unsure, because bitcoin price is unpredictable always.

News can be a lot more shaddy at times with the details they provide. Especially when its government motivated, it plants a such a phobia in the minds of crypto enthusiast it takes only a determined and addictive enthusiast to stay focused. In any case, buying and hoarding for a year doesn't necessarily imply growth or profit, the chances for a loss is still there.

If we really don't wnat to do it. Just buy Bitcoin at the dipping price in the bearish time and then hold it until at least the next halving. And at the beginning of halving, start getting information in order to know the bullish season again. IT may need at least 4 years again like in 2024 or more after the next halving.

For most of the holders that have been in the forum for that long, it's easy to do that because we've overcome a lot of bearish markets. But for newbies, they can't take that long while watching the waves of markets up and down, greens and reds.

You are right the best investors do something similar but they follow up on them, we could buy bitcoin today or a fraction of Bitcoin, and whatever happens I am sure that there will be profits with a good percentage, but it is impossible not to see news about bitcoin, you can Being at home watching TV and in the headline news section it will appear that bitcoin reached a new ATH or similar, it is very difficult to stay away from knowing about bitcoin.

I don't consider this as a good investment plan, its good to hodle your bitcoin for a long time but the fact is you can't predict the direction the price will go in the next one year and looking away from the market may give you peace of mind but also will keep you away from latest happening that may need your action.

This is not reliable, even though we wont do anything to our bitcoin for 1 year, it won't still promise us five good profits, if that is true then I think a lot of investors and holders now are rich and it will look like to be easy money when it comes to cryptocurrency. The volatility of bitcoin makes us think hard about investing or hodling it for a year.

Bitcoin profit is unpredictable to anyone who is used to Investment. Is not a guarantee for you to invest one year and expect something good from the investment because market can decide not to change until 2 or 3 years before investors can make something good from their Investment.

One year is not big enough a timeframe, especially when we're in a huge rally as we are in right now. Bitcoin takes 2 or 3 years after a rally to recover and I'm sure this one could take even longer, since the rally's been in such a long time now. I fear the winter would take a really long time, much longer than before. Hodl for BTC is a long term multi year game.

Actually this is true one year is not enough to say that the amount of bitcoin you buy today will accumulate 2x or 3x its market value by next year better. If we were going to look at the market graph of bitcoin for the past 3 years ago (2017-2020) the market of bitcoin became good at the end of the year 2020. So does it mean that bitcoin was really unpredictable you can't tell what will going to be the next market movement of bitcoin.

So keep that hope OP and rather ask that the current momentum will continue until next year because I was thinking for the bear season to come next.

For I don't have to make any conclusions and time frame when I'm going to sell my Bitcoin as I know that we can't predict the price. Because if going to say  I buy now, hold, and I sell but most likely it happens when the market is good and I can see that I was in profit. Maybe this could be the right statement, "I buy today and cash out in the next Bullrun". That could be next year, the next 3 years, or 10 years.

I can say for myself because I have been off from crypto universe during a good part of last year and when I came back to see how things were doing and started looking the news I was really amazed on how it recovered since that long previous bear market which many believed to be the end of bitcoin.

Forget bitcoin for a while and you will be surprised when you see how much value it has gained after a year or few years, but just make sure to not forget where you put your coins and your seeds as some early adopters did. :D

I'm not sure without checking our investment for a year gives us peace of mind. It was a common practice of everyone, we often check our investment, our portfolio to see if it is growing or not. Agree but for more than 1 year, if you bought btc in Q4 2017 and you just hold for one year your not getting profit. Sometimes we need to hold a lil bit longer especially if we really believe with that coin.

Yes, many Newbie rich of crypto but many Newbie lost her money in crypto. If you buy today bitcoin and wait for one year i hope you lost your 80% money. You need to follow 2017-19 price chart.

If you buy BTC today and cash out for one year then it will not fruitful as your desire. Because one year is not enough as investment,  one year time can't make your money huge as a profit but sometimes can maximize then as usual time, this is not always it happens suddenly when market pump rapidly high. So the graph says investment more than 2 or 3 years can make a good profit and if your luck supports you much then you can get higher profit in one year.

That can depend on what will be the price of bitcoin one year after buying it, I mean there are people who bought it last March 2020 and they got their profits back in March 2021. You are right that it may not be as fruitful as someone might desire but it is up to the market and your timing if you can quickly profit from bitcoin.

I think buying BTC at a low price and holding it for over a year or more until the market value blows up is the simplest way of making a profit out of it. Well, it's true that the longer you hold, the more chance you'll get higher profit, since the price might increases already. However, it might not be the case as well. There might be time when the price decrease a lot, again and again, which made people lose hope. Happened already before right? when btc price go down a lot. Luckily, it went up again now. But, we can't blame if people want to stop their loss and sold their bitcoin at that time. I guess, the better solution is, set a target at how much profit you want from your bitcoin. 10%? 20%? or even more? Then sell it at your target, and start again. That way, you can still earn profit, but not giving up in bitcoin. You shouldn't regret it too if the price went up again and again, it's better than being too greedy and lose everything.

But i dont agree with you about 1 year timeline, because history has shown as that Bitcoin cycles could have '' winters'' for several years, so i think that after one year we can be much lower than now.

Information communication is a "double-edged sword". If you move with emotional news, it is easy to be influenced by many factors.  I do not recommend, the style that believes in news media without due diligence and takes kootj seriously.  fomo can turn your greed into despair after one year.  for bitcoin, one year is too short, the long term is the best solution!

I think it depends until when you hold your bitcoins we have different mental stability and if you are easier to afraid about the market dumps i think you cant survive the market volatility, but if you know how to handle the market pump and dump just all need is to hold until it reaches the point where you think its profitable and safe to pull out go a head it doesn't matter because the end of the day you get profit but you cant remove the regrets of different what ifs'. Its good to hold for a year too because there's a chance today bitcoin might rise up to the 100k USD at the end of the month but again no one knows came from the future and predict what happen on the market.

i hope that you know that bitcoin is in a bull market and as per the previous history, this will end somewhere in december this year. So keeping this in mind, its better if you keep check bitcoin prices once every month so you know when exactly to exit. If you hold till April next year, you could have miss the 30-40% possible gain in Nov/Dec 2021.

In order to make profits in Bitcoin, you have to stay updated on the news, whether it is bad or not so you'll be aware when to buy and when to sell. Staying out of date will sometimes gives you the exact opposite of what you're expecting. Like what happened to me in my portfolio, I thought that if I'll leave it uncheck and go back when the market is bullish again, I'll make profits, but all I got was disappointment.

If you are lucky, then you will be in a profit after one year. But nothing is guaranteed. Previously on two occasions, Bitcoin went through the so called "4 year cycle". For example, ATH was reached in 2013 December, and then it had to wait until 2017 December to record the new ATH. There was a 4 year gap in between, and during this period the prices went down by as much as 85% (in 2015). Same thing happened after 2017. The new ATH was achieved in 2021 and we had a low in 2018 when the prices went down by 85%.

History actually taught me the opposite of what you suggested here — hodling for a year from now will be hodling into 2022, right? I don't think that will be such a great idea because 2022 will be another bear season for Bitcoin. Look, every post Bitcoin halving year has shown that Bitcoin becomes bullish and after slumps to correction. The halving of 2016 gave us ATH in 2017 and that ended in December of 2017. The 2020 halving is what is giving us this current bull run and I expect a fresh ATH at the last quarters of 2021. Thereafter, a major correction that should come up on us from then into 2022. The dump may not be as brutal as what we saw in 2018/2019 because of institutions hodling Bitcoin now unlike individuals hodling in 2017. But there will certainly be a major dump into 2022.

Demand is increasing overtime. Institutions are helping it give more exposure to the public as they announces their investment on it. But that's where the misleading part starts for a newbie.
If somebody says that they'll earn a specific amount at a specific time, they should need to do their research first before investing.

A lot of things can happen in a year, but following bitcoin's healthy graph, we can expect us hitting 100k this year, provided that the resistance we have right now is strong enough to withstand casual dumps like it did last February. A lot of people say it will still dump, and I kind of agree with them on the fact that the price can only stay this positive for so long, so when asked whether how much you will gain 1 year after investing in crypto, I cannot say you'd gain huge amounts, but it's a very high possibility.
