I read somewhere that I need to be a junior member to be able to link an imgur picture to my posts and the image to show up (not just as a link). What do I have to do to become a junior member?
Is this true? Any input is appreciated. Thanks

Yes this is true that you have to be Junior Member to have the eligibility to post image as image.
To be Jr member, you need 30 activity point and 1 merit on your profile. After that, you can be Jr member. Remember that post and activity are different. You can get 14 activity maximum in a 14 day period.

1 merit basically means 1 good post. Just wait for 30 day is not enough  ;)

Still, you can share an image here without being a Jr. member just give the link came from imgur and if there's someone with the jr member rank above can quote it will now show up but if you want to every time you post there's an image, check the quoted shared by bitmover else you can buy a copper membership  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote) that will treat you as a member rank, keep hard work to earn merit.

Work on ranking up first before worrying about posting images, right now all you can do is drop links to images instead by using Imgur or other image services platforms, deliver your best by making good contributions and you will easily rank up, good luck

if you are in a hurry I suggest following what peanutswar suggested. copper membership basically removes all the restriction that a newbie has and it also gives you the ability to wear a signature with links on your profile. if you are planning on staying for a long time it's worth buying especially if you have a service or in your case auction to advertise.

Thank you all that really clears up the beginner hump. I will check out the copper membership for sure. My friend has been recommending this forum for a while and now I am helping him auction some of his collectible coins so copper membership makes sense.
I also plan on donating to the site after the auctions to be a contributing member. I do believe forums are great but can only function to the fullest with contributing members.
