Title: What have you bought with Bitcoin?
Post by: Bitcasino.io Support on May 12, 2021, 11:10:46 AM
Hi, Bitcoin fans

Did you know?
Bitcoin was first used to make a purchase in the “real” world by Hungarian programmer, Laszlo Hanyecz on May 22, 2010.
He bought two pizzas for 10,000 BTC, which were worth about $30 back then :) Today these pizzas would cost about $600 million!

Since then this day is known as Bitcoin Pizza Day.
And it started right here in Bitcointalk. Check Laszlo’s thread here: Pizza for bitcoins? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=137.0)

How about you? What have you bought with BTC?

If you want to share it, you can take part in the exciting Pizza Day Story Challenge!

1. Post your Bitcoin story on Twitter or Instagram
2. Share it on pizza.io site
3. Include hashtag #pizzaio and tag @BitcoinPizza_io

What’s in it for you?
A slice of pizza? No :) But a slice of something bigger, if you're lucky ;)

Go check it out >>> pizza.io (https://pizza.io/)

Cheers,
Karl

Interesting contest, although I'm somewhat surprised that Random.org is used instead of something based on a certain block hash, as it should be done in any bitcoin-related contest...

Submitted my story too, let's see how it goes :) Would be really interesting to read other stories, too. It corresponds to the topic I recently start about paying for things with crypto, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5335076

I haven't bought anything tangible yet except for altcoins. Reinvesting bitcoin into other altcoins maybe the best futuristic experience we may have. The reason is when the worth of bitcoin we spend in buying the commodity or goods increase in the next few years, the feeling of regret may show up like the pizza story now at a worth of $600 million lol. I think buying altcoins is what I can go for now.

Is the site still online? I am getting a Cloudflare Error 523 when I try to visit it.

Regarding purchases made with bitcoin. I occasionally spend a few coins when I am on holiday. I have spent bitcoin on airline tickets and accommodation in the past. I am not a big fan of carrying bitcoin with me when I travel because most of it is in cold storage.

A tech shop near my place of living has started accepting crypto a few months ago. Since my TV is starting to show the occasional stuck pixel here an there, it's time for a change. A new TV is going to be my next investment.

More than a decade after Laszlo bought his pizza, I still can't buy a slice with my Bitcoin here in my place. I hope I can soon. Well, at least I can pay some of my bills with Bitcoin.

Anyway, this is a great initiative to celebrate the commemoration of the first ever purchase using BTC. I hope this story will be taken more as a success story than a story of regret. This is one of the most memorable milestones of Bitcoin. As such, Bitcoin Pizza Day brings a beautiful story to remember.

i have never bought with my Bitcoin and didn't intend to do that.  i want to collect as much bitcoin as i can collect.  making Bitcoin a long-term investment asset i think is much better than using it to pay.

Anyway, Lazlo's story will be remembered forever...

What's the limit to that time that you are going to hodl your bitcoin, you shouldn't make it a really long time, remember to always get some profit when there is an all time high in the market prices, it helps that youget to enjoy what you are hodling once in a while. I spend mine on electronics the first time and built my PC along the way.

To be honest, I brought a painting to this forum via bitcoin. The painting was worth 0.5554 bitcoin way back then and I am very grateful that because of my holdings I brought a very good painting in which it is a painting of a girl who is carrying the world of bitcoin. Last year I brought a motorcycle from my bitcoin holdings in which I converted first into fiat money in order to buy it in the motorcycle shop. Bitcoin gives me a lot of things and I am very grateful to this bitcoin as it is surges now and then.

I am still a beginner in the crypto world so basically, I haven't earned yet a huge amount of bitcoin, so I would never buy that kind of pizza, I am into investing in bitcoin and some altcoins, and some of my earnings in bitcoin is already converted into cash and used it in some of my needs but as long as it is not important, I never pull it out and just hold it for a long term. Anyway, good luck with that contest, that would be great for those who already have bought a bitcoin pizza.

That's a good way to make a PR from Bitcasino and Sportsbet. I have bought games and premium accounts through BTC and other alts in the past. It was really easy and I needed them for some work stuff. I didn't have a credit card so crypto came to my rescue and lots of my issues solved using it. Will be writing my story and posting it as am feeling lucky recently.  :)

That's cool.
My first buy? That's the problem. I have nothing to share yet. Every purchase was exchanged with fiat first and that's not the same.  ;D
But good luck with this and can we also see the stories being shared? Or we should still need to find it on Twitter?
I mean, will you also put the links in OP of those who shared their experiences? So that everyone could read it in this forum especially those who don't have any Twitter accounts.

Just imagine if the pizza owner or the reciever of that amount of bitcoin kept on holding up until now, that's a lot of money much more than we can fathom. See how interesting bitcoin has become, from having a $30 value, after a decade it was able to reach $20k+. If only people back in the days knew bitcoin would be this big, we'll see plenty of people holding their bitcoin. Even I, I will definitely make sure to buy a lot of bitcoin and hold even for a decade just to experience the wealth I have always been dreaming of. But it's not really too late, we can still make it happen but not as easy as it is before.

It's quite hard to buy something with bitcoin for me right now due to the lack of sellers accepting it as payment method, but the most notorious item I have bought with btc so far was in fact a bitcoin hardware wallet. :D
I felt really glad to be able to finish this purchase with bitcoin and I would like to do this more often, paying with bitcoin for another products.

I haven't bought anything with bitcoin, I just made it a digital asset and I exchange it for fiat in my country, don't pass transactions with digital coins, maybe one day bitcoin has been accepted as a possible transaction like I did buying a car and a house.

I can recall clearly I bought two things by Bitcoin directly. I bought the domain from Namecheap with Bitcoin. Although I had to change my IP via VPN due to a juridical issue, but feel good at least I can use Bitcoin directly when I need it in specific places. Another is I bought an Amazon gift card from the forum via Bitcoin directly and bought a product from there. So, I can proudly say I have used Bitcoin to buy something directly. And the overall experience was good.

I am sure that not so many people here would have bought something with bitcoin and this is because it is mostly considered as investment assets and not a currency. Besides, the potential of making more in the case of an increase in the value of bitcoin is probably what scares people from making that purchase with bitcoin.
I actually have not bought anything yet with bitcoin. Rather, I have received bitcoin as payment for my services.  I design graphics and I had the privilege of meeting someone who would pay for my services in bitcoin. That was fulfilling

For me all I have right now and all I spend right now comes from crypto so basically everything was bought by Bitcoin.
I don't want to look back to my oldest spending since I did it because I needed to,
Almost all of it was necessary of course I also spend some on unnecessary things like gambling and gadgets that I don't really needed.

Well if you are going to ask me, my satoshis are still in my wallet and I have not yet done anything to them as I have a goal to reach a certain amount. Imagine 100 million satoshis to a Bitcoin. You need to have at least 100 million satoshis so you can have one bitcoin and that is a challenge for many who are only small time trading and working for crypto. If I will have plans in the future what I will do with my Bitcoin is to make more money out of it. By having businesses and by building rental properties.

^ I would make sure that I have the best story and picture that would catch the emotions of the public to get a slice of pizza.
But probably, I will never be grateful for what I had experienced with BTC. And I somehow regret that I bought things with those BTCs that now costs a house if kept. I just feel regrets about it anytime I remember that I have enough BTC before that possibly made me rich today. By the way, going back! Today, I realized that it is better to hold and understand when and where to take profits and that is more rewarding so if I win here, I will keep the funds right into my wallet!

The recent item that I have actually bought with Bitcoin was vitamins. I got a friend of mine who is a licensed distributor, in which he is the one providing me the supplements. However, when I asked him if he likes to be paid with Bitcoin, he didn’t hesitate to say yes and our transaction was smooth.

Until now, I have not bought anything with Bitcoin because in my mind that Bitcoin is only a virtual currency to invest in, it is not a transaction tool for purchasing goods. I know that Bitcoin can be a means of payment to buy what you want from other countries. but one thing is that my country has not legalized Bitcoin to be a transaction tool in the purchase of everyday goods. I prefer to use Bitcoin as an asset that can be multiplied with a satisfactory profit.

Before i join bitcointalk community i have the basic knowledge of Bitcoin and before now i heard a story of a man that purchase pizza with Bitcoin, then in 2020 i had Bitcoin and i decided not to convert it with real money, so i went to saloon to cut my hair without money, i told the hair dresser to cut my hair and will pay with Bitcoin the first person there said no, that he doesn't accept Bitcoin, so i went to second person, i told he that i will pay with Bitcoin the person accepted, then i have to pay Bitcoin that worth $5 (5 dollars) while his fees is not up to such amount of money in physical, so this only payment i have paid with Bitcoin since i been using Bitcoin without converting it to physical money.

Actually I want to make transactions with bitcoin but in my area it is difficult to accept it so I haven't seen satisfactory results when I want to buy goods whereas I every week receive payments in bitcoin so there is no way except to convert it to fiat money and I haven't never felt the sensation of how to buy goods with bitcoin and then bitcoin flew high.
But behind all this there will definitely be many interesting stories where in this forum many who transact with bitcoin have become legal in some countries and this will be a reference in the future that can be legalized in my country.

I also think so, rather than being used as a means of payment, I prefer to use BTC as an investment tool. So far, payments using cash, bank transfers, and e-money are still very effective.
In my opinion, payment with BTC is still limited, only applies to certain ecosystems, and yes, we know there is still a lot of controversy.
after all, payment using BTC is prohibited by the government in my country.

Im saving it up and i dont spend it actively into something which i can particular purchase with fiat because we know the potential when it comes to future price increase which would give out profits.
Making transactions literally then i do spend it into some steam codes wayback and after that i havent make any transactions in regards to that and every coins accumulated would be saved.
For sure majority of people would really be having the same thoughts in mind on not to waste up these precious coins because we have seen on how far it had able to reached out for a decade.
Potential is clearly obvious and we cant just afford to spend up actively.

If you ask why you didn't buy anything, I didn't have enough money or needed things to buy with bitcoin. Since purchases with bitcoin are not very common anyway, I did not have much of a chance. I don't have a lot of bitcoins anyway. I hope I will increase my bitcoin amount in the future and bitcoin will be accepted as payment method in more places.

Bitcoin is still a problem in many countries, and we see it as very important. because clearly it takes trust from all countries in order to accept it as a legal means of payment, but it seems that currently there are still many obstacles that occur. not to mention that bitcoin is still thought to have a lot of controversy because it is thought to be a place for laundering money from corruption etc.

I think let Bitcoin and Fiat go hand in hand and cover each other's shortcomings in each use.
let bitcoin run to cover where fiat is hard and vice versa.

it is true that bitcoin is indeed very good for investing or trading in crypto, because many countries still have problems and need to prepare proper regulatory tools.

This mindset is good in an investment, you should not think about spending it when you are not having huge amount of bitcoin.

Thinking about spending it makes me think about losing opportunity in the future especially that I'm not that successful enough.

But still spending it is a kind of a good experience in crypto industry but the only problem is where to spend it.

Yes, I already know and I am present in your thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5331188.0
Are you currently still buying this vitamin and I hope you are healthy and do not use it again.

I have never used bitcoin for any purchases, but I have bought whatever I wanted by converting it to fiat because in the country I live in it is permitted to use crypto or bitcoin as an asset or investment and is prohibited from using it for transaction payments, and it is not available in the country where I live because it is strictly prohibited, except for personal transactions.
the most important thing for me is that I can still use bitcoin or other crypto and convert it to fiat if I want to make a purchase and I already have a lot of items that I have from bitcoin profits, besides that it can change me for the better, especially from the financial and economic sector me.

Actually what you said is real and also reality in cryptocurrency investment, saving Bitcoin is Best option if actually you want to have multiple of your money, without challenge's facing me that made to be converting my btc to fiat i would have known the values of Bitcoin i made from the community, i will like to encourage anyone that doesn't have much problem that relates with fiat to keep on holding their Bitcoin because of future reference and values in time coming.if am out of this shit i will be saving my Bitcoin.

I haven't bought any item or material using Bitcoin directly for purchase here in my place since there are still no merchants accepting payment method through Bitcoin because I still basically need to convert it into our national currency to be able to make use of my earnings in Bitcoin. But still looking forward to see someday that there will be availability of merchants who accepts Bitcoin as its usage grow further due to popularity and demand here in our place. But for now, I am just focusing on acquiring more as long as I can afford for it is good for investment opportunity as of this moment.

have you done it ? but is that a valid btc transaction op ? if theres no support in your country why not use online because theres many of them that accepts btc but the only issue is your going to pay for the delivery fee but you can collect vouchers to lessen the fees .

Most people, if they want to spend their Bitcoin, have to convert Bitcoin to fiat first. That's the most efficient way in my opinion, indeed because not
all countries accept Bitcoin as a means of payment and the number of merchants who do accept Bitcoin payments is still limited. But I am optimistic
that in the future there will be more merchants who accept Bitcoin payments, and I believe that eventually all countries can accept Bitcoin. Although
it may take over a decade for this to become reality.

I think it's too much to pay for vet bills using bitcoin because bitcoin fees are expensive bitcoin transactions are suitable for big things like buying a car and buying a house.

Interesting.

I haven’t buy anything with bitcoin. I use btc for sending payment and for trading. I also use btc for converting crypto to fiat. I haven’t any interest to buy anything with btc. I can easily convert btc to local currency, then i can buy anything with that.

I'm sure not many people here have purchased stuff with bitcoin, which is because it is primarily used as an investment asset rather than a currency. Furthermore, the possibility of making more money if the value of bitcoin rises is likely what deters people from making that transaction using bitcoin.
Well, there is --recently there someone who created a topic regarding the first purchasing using bitcoin and on this thread, OP was stated that this is the first he purchased a product using his bitcoin. [ https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5354038.0 ].
That is how good bitcoin is, you had an option to hold an option to spend directly using bitcoin, if you feel that bitcoin is good for storing value, it is up to you and if you also feel to use it purchase online, still it is up to you. We have a different choices on how we use bitcoin.

I think this is something that makes me regret :)
but if you remember that it happened in 2010 it hangs meaning 11 years ago I don't think he will really affect his current thinking because I'm sure Laszlo Hanyecz must have a lot of stock now.
apart from that $10,000 bitcoin I think for the time of course it became commonplace because their volatility was still not visible and it was the first years.
this is the same as the people who sold their doge a few years ago who had no price before being pumped and manipulated by Elon.
sometimes things like that have to be seen in terms of the year they are not imagined at this time because of course the price will be fantastic
oh... pizza day...
well actually there is nothing to regret, in fact it should be a pride that has become part of the history of the development of bitcoin where he has made the first payment of an item with btc. that's awesome right? must be proud in itself.
That's how crypto works, the price is very volatile, it can go up or down in a short time. instill the principle that we must be grateful no matter how much profit we get, what has become our destiny will never be missed. so just enjoy this trip :)

related to payment with btc, because in my country it is not legal yet, so I have to convert it to paper money first.
