First I want to say that I have some Bitcoin and I want to see it go to the moon. But I have some questions regarding the reasons that people give as to why Bitcoin is a good investment.  :-*

Reason 1: You are in control of your own money - government overprint cash which devalues the dollar, but big influential people and institutions can devalue Bitcoin with a single tweet. Bad news, issues with mining, and other things out of your control can devalue Bitcoin.

Reason 2: Nobody can take away your bitcoin whereas the bank can confiscate your cash and lock your account - should I worry about my bank doing this if I am not doing anything that is illegal?

Reason 3: You can send it to anyone in the world - why would people want Bitcoin when you cannot use it to purchase in many stores? Plus ii takes too long for 1 transaction to go through.


Please correct me if I am misinformed.  :o

How about because no other asset class or investment opportunity will quite gain in value to the degree that bitcoin has historically gained and will continue to do so... after all isn't the point of investing so that there can be a return on that investment? On average bitcoin has been growing %200 per year since inception... given its supply (fixed) and demand (ever increasing since still only a small fraction of the world population knows about crypto) dynamics, it's hard to imagine investing in anything else will pay off in time quite in as big of a way as bitcoin. Just my 2 cents. :-)

Bitcoin is the best crypto asset to invest because it has a limited supply with a higher demand. It is extremely volatile asset that can give you huge profit if you invest it properly or holding it for a long term. Bitcoin has gold-like properties and the most trusted cryptocurrency. Billionaires, millionaires and many big companies are already investing in crypto and you can clearly saw the development in bitcoin after ten years of existence. There's a lot of reasons why it is good to invest in bitcoin but all is depends on your knowledge about it, on your capital and how you are going to invest. Remember that investing is risky and it needs knowledge so that you can hold when market is not good and not be a weak hands that easily panic selling during the downtrend.

Once big institution invest in Bitcoin and joining in the market, expected that they will become a big whale in the future.  Imagine if one of them will immediately sell their assets, of course it will make an impact directly on Bitcoin.  Regarding the most influential person now on Twitter, we have nothing to do since people keep believing in him, just close your ears to them and ignore him as soon as possible and no one will make a FUD in the market.  Bitcoin circulation too is easy to manipulate once you can able to play the market because Bitcoin price has a simple algorithm, it's because of the demand and supply.

Know first if your government accepts Bitcoin as legal in your country, if so, there's no reason Bitcoin becomes illegal in your country.  But as long as your Bitcoin didn't convert to fiat, there's no worry on the bank that will take action.

Who said you can't purchase using Bitcoin, there are too many online merchants that accept Bitcoin, and even the largest payment processor Paypal was already adopted on it.

For most developed countries, there's usually laws preventing a bank actually stealing your money. For example, in the UK, and the USA you are covered up to a certain amount of money if anything happens to the bank. For example, if they went bankrupted you are covered up to 85k in the UK I believe. So, your point about banks stealing money only applies if you have money above this threshold stored in one bank. However, you can mitigate this by having multiple banks which are legally registered, and covered which would allow you to effectively increase this threshold.

The biggest draws to Bitcoin are likely its decentralized nature, and the fact that there is a logical, and definite way of circulating the currency. There is no printing off more Bitcoin or introducing new Bitcoins into circulation, there is no massive injection of Bitcoin at one time. The math has pretty much been already done, and Bitcoin will continue down the path of releasing more Bitcoin into circulation at a steady pace.

Regarding decentralization; that's got to be the biggest draw. At the moment, the government, and various companies that handle your money in traditional fiat currencies means that you have to rely on several third parties to actually make a payment. While, the government has complete control on your money, and have heavy regulation. Bitcoin, which is now taxed by the majority of companies also has regulation, but is far less than that of a fiat currency in terms of the restrictions imposed on fiat currencies. For example, fiat currencies usually have a fee for transfers outside the origin country, and various other handling fees. You actually determine your fee in Bitcoin, it might mean that the transaction might take longer than average, and is definitely slower than fiat currencies currently, but it has a dynamic fee which you determine by increasing or decreasing the incentive for miners.

However, the reason you might invest in Bitcoin might be different from mine. For example, curently due to the nature of the Bitcoin market, there are plenty of investors investing into Bitcoin simply because its profitable, and is probably the most profitable nature due to the frequent swings in the market. Simply put; its a very volatile economy, which actually creates  some very profitable margins.

The total amount of Bitcoin is fixed. In the long run, it is better to avoid investing in gold when investing in Bitcoin. And Bitcoin cannot be copied, no one can modify it, and the security is relatively high.

If you happen to hold your Bitcoins obviously in a custodial wallet, then you're not just risking your Bitcoin to be locked up from your account but you are risking your Bitcoin as well from hacks.

I think the reason why you should invest in bitcoin is because it can offer really high returns, just look at the charts these past decade, bitcoin went from a measly 1 dollar to a 40k dollars in just a matter of a decade easy.

Reason 1: I don't think that bitcoin can always be down the price with a single tweet from a famous person, but well, perhaps, that can happen, but not forever because the price will increase, and even there is another bad tweet from the other people, that doesn't stop bitcoin from rising higher.

Reason 2: Yes, we control our bitcoin, and as long as we can keep that secret and not telling to other people, we will safe to store our bitcoin.

Reason 3: Using bitcoin, we can spend the bitcoin for our daily life, but that only be used if a local store or online store wants to accept bitcoin as the payment system. But we can send bitcoin to other people, and as long as they understand how to use the wallet and make a transaction, that will be enough for them.

The important reason why I invest in bitcoin is I can make money from bitcoin. People will see about that, and they will follow us to invest in bitcoin someday.

Bitcoin is versatile wherein it can be both a currency and an asset at the same time depending on how you will use it. Most people are more likely investing into Bitcoin because of its value and undoubtedly they are wanting to obtain or acquire a single Bitcoin or even a big part of it for own personal use of course. We do have different reasons why we tend to invest into Bitcoin and the most important thing is that we make use of it effectively to boost its full potential as a currency and as an asset depending on the usage you want it to be.

Aside from the things you have mentioned, I would just like to add that bitcoin can be everybody's investment as long as they are knowledgeable enough about its nature and the risks it possess being a speculative asset.

In bitcoin, anyone can purchase any percentage and how many they want as long as they can afford its rate. We can always buy in an installment manner without worrying where we will get the fund. You see, it isn't like other investment that requires you to have a hefty amount of money in an instant in order to be a qualified investor. This is one of the great reasons I see why people should take a look on bitcoin.

That's their problem, it was the best reason in my opinion to invest in bitcoin and OP didn't point out any negative reason so I didn't put it. Of course, the volatility is a bad thing but if you know how to do it and you are smart for a beginner investor, you can make money out of the negative reasons right?

There are a lot of reason and advantage that you can get in bitcoin although it is volatile in the market, but the opportunity in it is massive.

It is true that bitcoin is limited and can increase its price over time depending on the mined supply.

and many of us use the volatility as main reason for investing  because of the opportunity of their funds making double or much even higher in the time comes and that is the same reason as mine.

People who already knew the benefits of bitcoin do not need any reason to invest in bitcoin because they can get the benefits from bitcoin.
People who are new to bitcoin can feel unsure about investing in bitcoin because of the price volatility, so not many can realize the benefits of bitcoin in the future.
Maybe if they can think about the investment side of bitcoin, they will try to invest in bitcoin from a small amount to figure out how they can make a profit from bitcoin.
Investing in bitcoin can save them from the thief who will steal their money, but they should accept the volatility of bitcoin prices and not worry about that.

I invest in bitcoin because of so many reason but the most significant reason for me is that bitcoin is volatile which can give us huge profit and financial freedom. Also I don't have any other form of investment, only here in cryptocurrency.

Well you may be right, but I am not so much in support of your counter of the first point. Alright, the whales can make one tweet that can devalue Bitcoin, yes I agree to that. But have you checked the lowest of Bitcoin in the past years? Bitcoin went from below $10,000 to a price of over $60,000. During the last bull run the price reached almost $20,000 before it crashed to a low price, but not as low as it was before that bull run started.

Now, this year, the price reached $60,000, which is three times the last all time high price (ATH) and when it started falling, it didn’t drop to below the last ATH, rather it stopped at $30,000. So how exactly has it been devalued? This is rather a price correction and now is the best time to invest if you have plans to hold till the next four years or so, because you already knows that even if it falls again it won’t fall as low as this.

One reason I can think on top of my head besides the ones that you have provided OP is that it helps you protect your money from inflation which is getting worse every year and you don't want to end up with less purchasing power if you can prevent that from happening.

A single reason that is enough to invest in Bitcoin and it is a peer-to-peer decentralized electronic currency system. That's all you need, everything under your control. that's why I also like crypto when it comes to digital assets. full ownership without time limit and without other authority. and if you look at it from an investment point of view, bitcoin is the best choice when it comes to big risk investments. more worth it than any other risk investment.

That's a misleading reason if you're saying that someone can collect a lot of money from it. You actually don't collect without any investment but if you have some ways of collecting it like mining or working and getting paid with bitcoin. That's how you do it but it could be misleading for some reading it at the first time.

That when someone reads about bitcoin, they might think that it's just an actual collecting of money and anyone who owns it doesn't have any risk to take because we're just collecting money.

Some are just an excuse and alibi why they are here. Not all investors had to look at those things but they just focus on how much they will get from Bitcoin investment. Even you, you are asking Bitcoin to go to the moon because you want to double, triple... your money. That is all about.

Bitcoin is a very good way to store value. It has its own unique characteristics and has a large number of believers. Investing in Bitcoin can store value for your funds and avoid certain risks.

In my country, there's a bank accepting the use of cryptocurrency for storing their funds as long as you did store the one of the most important seed is you are still safe.


There are many stores today accepting the use of the bitcoin payment as long as you send the bitcoin with the address p2pkh, p2sh and Bech32.

Bitcoin is also fast and easy to use, all one needs is a internet connection. Bitcoin can't be stolen from a wallet, expect the hacker have access to that wallet. Also Bitcoin users have full control over their money. It doesn't have any Central Bank. With Bitcoin, you can be your own Bank.

Because it is the easiest investment to have?
It could give you a huge profit if played right.
Easy to buy or sell anytime you want.
You could hold your own investment if you want (By putting it on your hardware wallet).

This gets rather not true as time goes by because a lot of people are making bitcoin much more complex but if you still do the old way, then you can probably still do it but some companies entering bitcoin are making things more complicated. But overall I do agree that it's an easy investment with a really big returns and it's unlike any other existing out there.

Well, honestly, tldr of everything here is that you invest in Bitcoin because ITS Bitcoin. That's about it.
A temporary problem that affects the short term of the market. Not really a long-term effect, so I don't really see many issues. A problem that can be solved with time isn't really a problem imo.

Even if that is an easy thing, most people can hold their bitcoin for a long time. People tend to panic when the price starts moving up or down because they may not be ready to see that happen. A small number of people can survive to hold their bitcoin because they can control their emotions and decide not to watch the market very often. If they can hold it, they will make a big profit in the future.

the volatility is what people wants to invest and be their money in bitcoin. imagine that if you put your money now worth 100$ there is a chance in 5 days period this can be double when you needed to use( but of course there is the other way around that may lose your funds by time lol)

Anxiety and fear of experiencing losses sometimes make what you do actually make the situation uncontrollable. many of them always believe the bad news circulating on social media and when they see the market price, they can't help themselves, don't analyze well. whereas many are muddying the atmosphere with bad news to benefit themselves and this is sometimes not realized.

if we just want to hold it, we can be sure that bitcoin will always form renewable ATH again at some time later, so there's no need to worry because holding bitcoin will not lose money, it just depends on time, which at least takes 4 years according to the halving. maybe even faster because the market situation is actually improving.

Are you generally informed of Bitcoin's intention? It's written in the whitepaper and it surely isn't made to be used as an investment regardless that it's being seen as an investment and as a store of value asset. I'm just telling you, because the reasons you mentioned have nothing to do with why you should invest in it. A greater response would be that it has lots of potential and countries have started adopting it; not those you wrote. Actually, the 2 & 3 you mentioned justify why it should be used as a currency.

I believe that his point is that the banks can steal your money whenever they want; the fact that they won't due to law prevention isn't the same with not being able to.

If they do not search for more info about what they found before, they will have anxiety and fear and that is normal to see that will happen to them. We always need to calm down when we read something from social media because that news will not always right.

You need to have a calming down if you decide to hold bitcoin because the price will go up and down fast, making you worry. But, I guess we may not be waiting for the next 4 years because the bitcoin price can increase again anytime and hopefully, that can happen this year.

Bitcoin is the only currency that allows you to make realistically fast payments while holding it and appreciating rapidly every month and every year. Looking at fiat currencies around the world, none of them has the characteristic of long-term appreciation, which only makes consumer holders and investors feel that their money has less and less purchasing power.

I have my doubts with faster payments though, there are more apps that are much faster than what bitcoin is now. You are right about the fiat appreciation though, but there is inflation to curtail the depreciation in value. The reason in my opinion is the promise of bitcoin to be your own bank is sort of true.

Yes we always get an extra benefit to invest on bitcoin .If we compared the other market like forex ,stocks ,Commodities it always crypto is high volatile .That's why we can easily get our profit quickly .It has many use as well we can transaction it globally within a second and the blockchain system is more secure than any other platform .It has real value and bright future for sure that's why we always wanna invest on Bitcoin.

While I do believe that bitcoin is a good "investment" I think it's important to note that bitcoin is inherently NOT an investment.  However, just as with any countries fiat money, it has become an investment and is traded in the markets.  That being said I also want to point out that it should only be part of ones entire portfolio, and not everything in ones portfolio. There's a lot of risk that comes with cryptocurrencies and it's important to remain invested in a diversified manner.

Inflation and currency debasement is one of the most important reasons why you should at least store some of your wealth in bitcoin. Especially if you are from somewhere where the local currency is loosing value fast against USD. Also the USD itself is loosing purchasing power (just look at the price of a mcdonalds meal in the 70's compared to now). Either way BTC's main selling point is its hardness as a currency.

Bitcoin has real value now because now big big company already have listed bitcoin as their payment gateway. And bitcoin's demand is upraising so there is good future value for bitcoin so i optimistic that it will be my future. 

1. Yes right now it gets influenced by a single tweet to dump but can also be influenced to pump. No matyer if you see this as a very good opportunity or not, it isn't going to last long as bitcoin matures even further as world wide adoption happens.
2. There have been many cases in my country when banks suddenly close due to bankruptcy or other issues and if it happened to some, it can also happen to others. So yes, you should worry despite not doing something illegal.
3. Privacy without having the need to explain your reasons for sending despite the identity of the reciever or yhe reason behind the payment. And lightning network can solve the long transaction time.

First the bitcoin of future looking very bright,and after my research and see the trand of bitcoin I don't think there is a big business than bitcoin , bitcoin is most popular business of online field,and most profitable as well.and in upcoming time it will grow more , reason there are many people involve in bitcoin,and Community of bitcoin is very big now.These all and more reasns attract people to invest in bitcoin.And if I talk about my self , bitcoin is my full time business and I love bitcoin and bitcoin currency will be world No 1 currency one day.

The reasons you put forward are quite reasonable...

but there are some parts that you are wrong about, in some countries you can already pay with Bitcoin. other than that the best reason why invest in Bitcoin is that the amount is limited and decentralized, in the future the price of Bitcoin will definitely be much more expensive than today.

I'm going to answer OP on reason 3.
If in my locality there are no stores that want to accept bitcoin. Of course, I have several options. Hold, buy, sell, exchange bitcoin for Fiat in the P2P of my preference.

We discuss that many times in this forum because we know how bitcoin works but for people who do not know anything it is a complete challenge.

My reason is basically I see that the government is playing with the fiat system and it is a multi nation 'race to the bottom'.  I also like gold but gold is not a replacement for a type of currency whereas bitcoin in my view is.

Yes you are correct, but what you wrote, like for example reason number one, it has good thing as well. Sure, bitcoin is easily affected, even a bit bad news can decrease the price. However, the same happened with good news, it can increase bitcoin price as well. That's why i guess you just need to wait for the price to increase, since it's volatile too so it's not that hard for the price to budge. Then, why should you worry about bank? Bank can't do anything to your bitcoin, and from my experience, i never get my money confiscated or something just because i earned it from bitcoin, it's not something illegal. But if in your country it's illegal, you might need to think other way. And lastly, yes. Unfortunately bitcoin is not common yet to be used in a transaction, but then it's why bitcoin is great for investment, since you can't use it anyway, just put it for long hold it and then gain profits from it. No need to spend it for purchase.

Bitcoin is just similar gold which the supply is limited, and the circulating supply will increase only from mining that need long time and high energy cost. But fiat is very easy to increase the supply, only by printing for a second. If we compare Gold and BTC, BTC has more advantages because we can use it for cross border payment and take a few minute to comfirm, but for physical Gold hard to do.  The price action of BTC and GOLD is bit similar so in the future BTC possible to reach current marketcap of Gold, that is above $10T. For afew years BTC and Gold is against inflation of fiat.

The reason 4 here needs some more important clarification. There could be forks of Bitcoin that are the exact same and therefore also scarce, but that doesn't make the forks valuable. What makes Bitcoin valuable is its first mover advantage and along with that the organically grown ecosystem around it. You can fork the chain and set up an exact copy of it, but you can't fork the ecosystem. That is why it is very hard for other coins to overtake or even close to Bitcoin's market capitalization. There is no other PoW coin that has a similarly sized ecosystem around it.

I'll reply all three straightly; if you want to invest in bitcoin, use your spare money. Not just Bitcoin; anything that has to do with the word invest. Also, it depends on the country where you are staying. Some countries have banned crypto, and using it is like looking for trouble, you may loose all your funds when they catch you, so I suggest you check the status of your country and know if they accept their citizens to use crypto.

Finally, I wouldn't really count bitcoin as a store of value (just in case you want to use it for this). Bitcoin's volatility makes it unworthy for that. There are stable coins like usdt where you can store your money and it will have it's fixed value without the ability of crashing down.

But i guess these reasons are not only restricted to BTC only, rather this applies to other alt coins too.
Moreover for me the main reason to buy the coin is it’s price and scope.
Many Traders have already predicted that BTC will change the crypto world soon in the future, and therefore i am buying the coin whenever i have some money to spend.

Bitcoin transactions is faster than you think, usually merchants use vendor service such as coin payment and etc, I use coin payment and their service is pretty good, it take 5 to 10 minutes to complete transactions but in real life it will not be a problem, for example if we buy food in a restaurant then we don't need to worry about transactions confirmation because the merchants will receive the coin. How many times it needs to be repeated? The mining will not stop once all the 21 million coins are mined. The mining reward consists of two parts - block reward and fee reward. The fee reward will remain as long as BTC is used for transactions. And in another two decades or so, the mining reward will primarily consist of fee reward (since the block reward halves every 4 years. The next halving is scheduled for 2024). But I agree with the other aspects, such as decentralized nature and protection against inflation. These aspects make BTC a lot more attractive to the investors.

I think it is a great opportunity for those who still have doubts about Bitcoin, this may be a good time to buy and invest.

I love investing in BTC because it makes me financially free and has absolute privacy, and I personally love technology and BTC is my investment choice, no BTC positions can still be stored for a long time and in the future BTC will have a high value, I am sure of this.

If truly you love bitcoin then I guess you should be less worry about what the news holds, either being top influencer or the government. Because each time it dips based on one government banning bitcoin, or influencer like Elon putting a pause in accepting bitcoin for Tesla etc.., whales enters the market and purchase in bulks.

What you're yet to know is the fact that this same whales are part of the government officials, also the same top influencers who said a word or two to made your weak hands dump.

For me the main reason why I choose btc investment over other investments is because I am interested in this volatile crypto market, and it will be profitable if I can store it well. Moreover it is true that we can have complete control over our assets. So the results that will be obtained depend on how we manage it. Btc is also currently recognized and accepted by many countries, so that's good, we can freely invest in it without fear of bans. Therefore, while btc is still acceptable and the prospects are still good, then we must also be able to use and manage it well so that we also get the desired results.

So you have to gather proper knowledge on it. Otherwise you may loss your fund. The popularity of Bitcoin is increasing continuously. its price is also going up gradually. Losses do exist in crypto, imagine getting a loan against your house and you are hoping for price to remain bullish and you bought the coins when it was at $60000 by now you would be feeling the pressure as price isnt moving in your direction as it's over 30% down. If this carries on long term you would be making a loss.

Those are good reasons you stated, but it's not all I guess. Another factor that really really make people want to invest in bitcoin is because its value and price. We have heard many people getting rich because of bitcoin, and don't tell me that I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure a lot of new investors came to this cryptocurrency world because they want to experience the same thing. Because they've heard that many people get rich from bitcoin, and that bitcoin is such a good investment. People want that profit as well, and bitcoin sure is such a great investment choice, so why not?

Firstly you should be trying to save up cash in a low risk manner, use that to buy a property that you can live in, then start to put some money into a low cost global stock market fund, once you have gotten to that point it might be sensible to look at other investments like precious metals or cryptocurrencies. While Bitcoin is the first mover and most well known, that popularity might be a bit of a curse in the long run as it's functionality as a currency is being undermined. Maybe look at a wide range of other cryptocurrency and spread it between 2 or 3 different ones for maximum uplift.

As much as the price of bitcoin can drop in with a single with it has also soared as well several times in the past. For instance, the price of Bitcoin skyrocketed from around $32,000 to nearly $38,000 in January 29, 2021 because of a tweet from Mr Musk. This is just one of those few examples.
