I have been a day trader but want to know if it’s a good idea to hold bitcoin for long, whether it will be more profitable?

For me personally, adding more and hodling works much better than actively trading. I tried trading before of course and I sucked at it, so instead buying low selling high, more often than not I ended up doing the exactly opposite thing due inexperience, ignorance and impatience.

Last time I tried to sell some BTC in order to rebuy when it goes down was back in 2019, and managed to loose like 5%  of my BTC, and never tried anything similar ever again. My guess is that at least 95% of the people would end up having more BTC  if they just hodl, instead getting into day trading

Of course, Bitcoin is relatively the most reliable and valuable. Compared with other air coins, the risk is relatively small. If you are a believer in Bitcoin, then hold Bitcoin for a long time, just for speculation and when the return is good, you can consider selling it. But I suggest you hold Bitcoin for a long time. The investment right is in your hands. You can decide according to your own ability.

Yeah why not. But Bitcoin is probably can't give you up to an income of 1000x no more with it's current price. I suggest you invest on some crypto gem which could lead you to big return in the future. Moreover, I don't say that BTC is a bad investment. It's good and savvy but with less expectation for big returns.

I have also traded cryptocurrency before and I can say that it is quite a profitable business. However, in order to trade successfully, you need to have trading skills and know which cryptocurrencies to use for trading. But it is not always possible to make a profit from cryptocurrency trading, since very often the market behaves in an unpredictable manner. As for simply holding BTC, we have already seen that this was one of the best solutions, because over the years, the price of BTC has shown incredible growth. Based on this, I believe that now it is better to invest in BTC, since there is a high probability that by the end of 2021 we will enter the next stage of growth, which means it will be possible to make very good money on this.

My personal opinion about any kind of trading is that if you have anything that remotely works you will not ask this question and you will certainly will not publish a youtube video "showing others how easy it is", etc... (not that you have done, just example). Other than that, it is the fastest way to loosing your money. Most trading platforms have to include disclaimers such as "most of our clients take loses" and the like - you surely get the point. Investing in crypto, as such, is not that different from trading except that you will trade much less. The chances of success are slightly better.

But the main point is something else: investing in crypto should be taken as investing in venture capital. Very high rewards for just a few projects, 100% loss for most and extreme variability in results. The only difference is that you normally have liquidity.

In the title you talk about cryptocurrency in general but then you talk about Bitcoin. As for Bitcoin do just buy and hold. It's not worth getting complicated with the most profitable asset of the last ten years. As for shitcoins, it surely makes more sense to trade but unless you have a lot of knowledge, as you may seem to have if you say you have been a trader, otherwise you are playing roulette.

I don't make myself guilty as I just hold Bitcoin for the long term. But to ask what is better and profitable? I could tell that investing is better and profitable, and aside from that, it was a lesser risky than doing trading. But it can be different with you mate. Well, I'm not good at trading that is why I choose to invest only. But if I  know more about trading and really have the skills, I surely choose to trade...
Maybe you should try by yourself to know where you are becoming great because not all of us walking on the same path.

Talking generally about any kind of cryptocurrency i am dealing with today for me I prefer investing and holding than trading for now. I mean i am waiting for a good chance to trade my crypto today and wait till the bearish month passed. There are some crypto now that is worth investing for I mean the market demand and market price soars high without being affected by the current market dropped or even bitcoins low price.

Depends on your interest and capital since if you love to trade then provably  you can multiply your traded coins in certain timeline you  set but you need patience together with proper discipline to become a successful trader, but if you have a lot of money then hodling is also one of the best choice to do since if you look at the happenings on  the market it proves for  so many times that hodler always win the game and take home a big amount of cash when bull run happens.

It depends on how much time you have and if you're actually using that time wisely (if you have it). Trading would probably be better since you have more chances to profit (and lose) money if you know how to do trading. Investing is more of a hodl option and most people use this when they have no time to actually day trade or they just don't want to trade in general. Day trading is more profitable since you take every opportunity, while hodling is more like a safe type of investment? Since you're waiting for that moment where Bitcoin booms and you exit out making a profit, though it takes quite a long time imo.

I am also a day trader but sometimes if we make a mistake in predicting with a significant error then it makes me have to hold it for so long to wait for hold even up to 1-3 years. and take some funds from savings for trading capital back and collect it back but the choice that has never made me wrong is to trade on the 10 safest coins on the exchange and never try new coins unless they are quite established and real

It is a good idea to hold bitcoin for a long time, but if you are a day trader, you can profit from bitcoin or altcoin trading so you will have a chance to make more profit. You can use your daily or weekly profit to buy your daily needs while you have a long-term investment that can grow your money value.

But if you ask which is better: crypto trading or investing in crypto, that will depend on how you know about trading and investing. Some people are good at trading, but they do not invest, while others can hold their coins, but they do not have good skills in trading. If you have good skills and you can hold bitcoin for a long time, I am sure you will make a big profit in the future.

You have to follow what works for you and not to join the crawd because you can not deceive yourself. Trading is not easy for everyone out there and if you don't have passion to learn it don't go into it. With trading you can continuously lose part of your capital in btc and or all but for hodling it, you don't have any fear to have because it will rise again to profit.

if you look back at history then if you have been a holder since 2016, you have made a much bigger profit than if you were a day trader since 2016 because none of your money has been lost

Day trading is not always profitable, everyone has different trading abilities and results. You should evaluate your own portfolio.

Holding is profitable if you eliminate this one execution: cutloss. How profitable will depend on your decision to end holding time. Long time is flexible, your habit of doing day trading will challenge you to hold it where previously you always saw profit opportunities on daily volatility. Those thoughts will always bother you every day.

From my own ideas concerning bitcoin, holding any cryptocurrency or bitcoin is base on personal objectives, and it's good to hold a coin for long periods when you are financial buoyant enough to the extent the capital use to purchase bitcoin is not your challenge, because long period of holding coin can be of benefit of the Holder and also can be at lost side of a holder due to coin can depreciates any time and any hour, and when such happens it will definitely affects the Holders coin, so it's the disadvantages of holding a coin for long periods, shall from another perspective the advantages might be greater than the disadvantages, base on the time frame.

In cryptocurrency, no one can ever say that there will be profit. But it is better to trade by understanding the market. It will be profitable and it may be lost again.However, Bitcoin will one day be converted into the prevailing currency. Bitcoin has become a popular currency.

Trying both can help us realize which works best for us. Sometimes we limit ourselves to something we thought we can or cannot without really trying it. When we at least test it for ourselves with a budget we know we can afford to lose or we aim to profit we will strive harder to make it progress. Trying out and exploring ourselves will lead us to decide what path we can pursue.

both are methods for managing finances, but based on needs if you are trading Bitcoin for a short period of time. it will be very risky and not too big impact. Bitcoin to invest long term. while if you feel that daily trading will be very profitable, then at least use the second alternative that makes altcoins that must be traded.

Again, for Bitcoin, it will be more useful if you hold it for a long time.

For my own opinion, I think trading is waiting and patiently buying low and selling high, but holding BTC for a long time is that you have to earn more to be able to wait for its price to go up and sell. , so I feel that both sides are profitable, but if you have the patience to hold the potential long-term coin, there is a higher possibility of profit than daily trading that sometimes loses.

As per my experience, both are great if OP has the proper knowledge of FA and TA. Also, OP can do the both crypto trading and investing into bitcoin. For an example, all profits can be converted into bitcoin for long time hodling and continue the day trading as well. But investing into altcoins is quite risky as well as profitable according to the usecase of that projects. If knowledge about TA is lower than expected, than better to go for hodlings bitcoin for long term purposes, IMHO.

Both are actually profitable and your profit will depend on your patience and skills on how to deal with every market situation. You could allocate funds for your holdings and some for trading so you'll have a continuous source of profit while holding for a long term at the same time. Holding BTC could double or even triple your funds when the price strikes high but it requires a lot of patience.

Trading is highly a risky game or activities. Yes the possibility of making the profit from trade is highly because it is daily but sometimes what is fearful is that losses are inevitable and when that happens you get discouraged to continue.

having that kind of thinking, that what you decide and what you believe holding bitcoins long term is a good first step.
well I will say exactly, always choose the way that later you will find satisfactory results when holding bitcoin for a long time.
The longer you hold bitcoin, the better.

Trading or investing both requires a lot of risks that need to be put in consideration before attempting to enter the market. Trading is the act of placing bet on a coin pair against another coin of appreciating or depreciating more than the other. It need good knowledge of the market and how price moves.

Holding is the act of buying a coin and leaving it to appreciate after a long periods of time. It might take from a month to years of holding. It requires lesser risks than trading cause a coin can be left for years to gain value while trading occurs in shorter period. Some trading activities takes from 5 minutes to months depending on the type of trader involved.

At the end of the day, what it all boils down to is the person's personal preference. Some like to invest long term, some short term while some prefer to trade and some like to diversify and do most of the things available to them. Some even incorporate all these plus gaming ever since crypto currency related games started popping out everywhere. Now, if you are looking for the best way to earn, I suggest that you focus on one thing at a time first and see which best suits you. If that works, then you can go ahead and diversify if it ever interests you. One thing you must keep in mind though is to be very careful and do not do anything without studying it thoroughly first because this will only put you in very bad situations which is pretty common for newbies, even I wasn't exempted from this.

my mistake until now was not being able to hold coins for a long time. Somehow, I always look for ways and strategies to be able to control my mental when facing market conditions.

I know that in the future I can't continue like this. because after all, the strategy I'm using doesn't have a title at all.

If you are a type of person that does not go well into doing trading, then investment might be just for you. If you are foreseeing on which might be profitable between trading and investing with regards to Bitcoin, then I must say it still depends for we have different ways on handling the situation on which we can be good on either of investing or trading and there is a possibility to be good at both. Now, for a person that does not go actively on doing trading and just rely on the volatility of Bitcoin or any cryptocurrency he chooses, then investing might be your thing because right after you invest, it is up to you to hold or sell it already at a high price compared to trading that considers dealing actively with the market.

Why you wont try out for yourself? You can do both if you do like and if you do like to answer the question you do have in mind in terms of profitability then its your choice to make.

But basing off with some common sense thing about profitability then nothing really beats out to someone who do make out active trades considering on the amount of profits
that they could potentially make compared to those who do simply hold but of course the risk is higher.

You would find it for yourself once you do experience on both trading actively or just simply holding.

Trading itself is a long way to earn a decent profit while I find investment as a good way to earn a good profit everytime you see a profitable price then you make some then try to reinvest if there's a cheaper price. Just like what you said trading will require some various skills and knowledge in order to gain profit plus patience and emotion control which will take some time to control.

And if you are just a newbie or trying to trade for the first time, you will lose more and more money in the long run before you even make a decent amount of profit.

If you have time and skills to trading, trading and especially in cryptos can be very profitable if you know what you are doing
But that does not prevent you holding for long some well established cryptos, that is allways a good idea/deal.

Honestly, there really isn't a rule that says you need to do some specific investing strategy or something. Just go ahead and do what suits you best or what investment strategy you are most comfortable with since it is you who will be investing and not others. People can give you options regarding investment strategies but you should be aware that their suggestions would mostly consist of strategies that works best with them which may not work for you since most of these strategies people suggest are made for specific life, time, interest or financial conditions that they have(of course this only applies for the people who invest strategically and not just randomly gambling with their money and efforts). What you can do though is take note of the suggestions you encounter and try them out yourself then see if you are comfortable with one, more or all of them so you can be at ease in adding it to your investment plans.

in total I prefer investing, although I am also learning to trade. by investing we just wait for the price to rise and sell it or we keep it for a long time, the most important thing is that we invest in trusted coins. different from trading which I thought, I personally haven't been able to make a lot of money from it, because I know that trading certainly requires a learning process

Making investments will not always make us check the price every day, reducing our panic if the price is down.
Although we need to wait for some period, as long as we can feel okay with holding the bitcoin, we will make a big profit.
It proves this year, when people already invest in bitcoin from 2018, even if they bought bitcoin at $19k that year, they already make a big profit by selling at $64k yesterday.
But day trading is not bad if you want to have additional income from crypto, but before you decide on day trading, you learn some lessons that can help you trade.

Trading takes time and you have to be knowledgeable about trading and have a lot of capital and experience and even with all that it's not even a guarantee that you will make a lot of profit. Investing on the other hand, all you need is patience and faith to the cryptocurrency you are investing and you won't need much faith if the cryptocurrency you are going to invest in has a big potential like bitcoin and Ethereum. If you want to make money for short-term, try your luck on trading but if you are on the long-term, try your luck on investing but no matter which you choose, always be wise and smart with what cryptocurrency you are dabbling in because there's a lot of shitcoins out there hungry for your money.

Based on my experience holding bitcoin for long period is more profitable and convenient because it doesnt require a lots of time to monitor the market and its stress free. I tried to be a day trader before and though you can earn huge amount for choosing the right coin and buying/selling according to your plan it doesnt suit me because it gives me headache. Plus you really need to manage your time which I cant do because I also have day job. Well if you're curious to know which more is profitable then you have to try it first.

Now if you see that one of them isn't giving you profit or worse you are losing on it them better leave it or focus on one.

In terms of profitability, day trading would be better compare to just holding but on the other hand the chances of you losing money is higher in trading. High risk = higher reward as they are saying :). Just do both of them and if you see that you are earning profit on both of it and you aren't stressed doing both of them then just do both :).

It's pretty stupid but I think that it's a much better option since it's safe and it covers both long-term and short-term, I think both of them can work together, you do trading while at the same time investing and hodling some of your cryptocurrencies that has a potential for long-term growth. I think that utilization of both facets of making money in cryptocurrency is a much better option compared to choosing just one.

actually you can answer that literally mate because you will only comparing what profits you made in the Day trading strategy and what can holding brings you.

Lets say You daytrade bitcoin or other coins , and you choose to stop loss for at least 5-10% ups or down .

or think of those Holders that use to buy bitcoin last 2020 when the price drops down to 4000 and hold it for 1 year when the price climbs up to more than 60k.

what do you think is profitable? actually i only use Bitcoin as an example but of course Ethereum and other altcoins do the same growth or even much higher.

Do what works for you best. There are advantages and disadvantages on both investing and trading. You can do what suits your current situation and of course, your preference. Ask yourself, what do you prefer? Short-term or long-term? You can do both if you like to. Just remember that the two are completely different thing. Study how the two work so you'll not regret a thing later on.

Personally, I prefer investing over trading. I'm in it for long-term after all. Investing works best for me because all I have to do is buy the dip (for those coins that show potential) and hodl until the time I need to withdraw some funds and until I reached my goal. Although, I've tried trading as well. And man, it was a rollercoaster ride. You shouldn't start trading when you aren't equipped with enough knowledge. If you opt to do so, you'll end up losing. Trading requires a lot of skills, strategy, and strong gut-feeling. You must know when to take profit (T/P) and you should put stop loss to avoid losses and liquidation. Trading is time-consuming, but it always pays back your effort as long as you know what you are doing.

It's hard to give an advice since sometimes the one we suggest will not work to them, that's why its really good to see our capabilities so that we can point out to ourselves if its really good to hold or just trade it on various trusted platforms available around. But I really preferred to trade rather than holding as I don't have capabilities to do so I'm kinda not good on holding my emotions and we must consider it since its a huge stress to see how market collapsed especially if we bought and hold at the wrong time.

I'll give you some pros and cons of every solution.
Let's start with trading.

For me the biggest con is the risk of holding coins on exchanges. Your coins are not only at risk of being hacked, but also blocked by the exchange due to some change in rules or if they find your activity as suspicious.
I've lost some coins on bittrex because they've decided that my activity is suspicious and blocked my account and then demanded me to send them multiple selfies and bills to prove where I live and in that time I've changed apartments so that was out of the question... Long story short they demanded a ransom that I could not provide. They stole my coins. It wasn't a big deal because that was maybe $100 worth of cryptocurrencies, but imagine if you had 100 times more and the same thing happened to you.

You're also at risk of making a mistake, trading with leverage and getting liquidated and losing a lot of money.

What's the worst thing that can happen to your bitcoins held offline? If you buy today, we can go to retest the previous high by the end of the year and you'll earn 100% on your investment or go down to maybe 20 thousand and you'll lose 30%. If you decide to trade you can lose 100%, so the risk is much higher. Holders will never lose 100%, even if they buy the top.

Holding doesn't require any work, any thinking. It takes more time to make money so it's a game of patience but it allows you to focus on other things.

To my friends who wanted to enter this market, I always suggested they do investing instead of trading because as you may know bitcoin much more profitable in long term, and if you invest in bitcoin for the long term you will definitely get the reward for it. But on the other hand, bitcoin can be very much risky for people who don't have enough patience to get the profits and always panic sell or sloce the orders, also since the price is moving sharply and hugely in short term, people may lose control and do emotional actions that's why I think investing can be more profitable.

You're a day trader, so you probably know the difference between altcoin and bitcoin market movement; based on the market history of bitcoin, there's a huge chance that we will reach a new ATH. The problem comes when bitcoin becomes steady low in the long term. A positive outcome is possible in holding BTC, but it is better to use your time to earn more on the short-term play. You're a trader, so keep buying on the dip to secure a profit.

From time to time some people raise this question... like it's hard to cover both! I think it's crazy to trade without some holdings on a side, and in crypto sometimes it's stupid to just hold all your bag when you can sell at some point (when price reach some top after a bullish run, and we had that recently), and to buy back when prices drop!
Like you, I think this question is pretty stupid! Holding and trading are both good, someone can decide to do just one of these two for any reason, but doing both is very simple, after all, holding is holding, it doesn't require a lot of effort and constant monitoring, so it can be combined with all sorts of trading strategies, in short, mid or long term!

In my opinion, I think upon identifying which one is better, it will rely on the set of skills and knowledge you have. If you've learned enough information about trading, therefore it might be more suitable for you as you can apply all your learnings to be successful on that one. On the other hand, if you have more idea about investing, then choose it so that you wouldn't end up looking ignorant in trading as you push yourself through it when in fact you can do better at investments. Timing will also play a huge role for the two cause there are instances where investments are better at a certain time or vice versa.

Although Investing is better than trading for begginers but We have to learn more about strategy to earn gain or avoid lose. Because when the investors cant choose the best asset which he want to invest, he will get much lose from his investing. I have felt the moment, when I invest in crypto with following others without knowledge, the result what I got was a bigger lose. I sold ADA for bought AOA, thats really dumb. That looks like I sold a gold just for a shit.

it depends on your thinking. if you feel your profit is enough I think you can end it but if you feel this is not enough especially now that it is drastically decreasing you can hold it a little longer.
but I can suggest you should now increase your asset load compared to selling now because if you look at the prospects year after year, I think the future will be better. but with a note what coins you buy

It depends, it is widely known that in theory trading is more profitable than investing, but that is the theory, trading has a higher failure rate as it is harder and even if you obtain profits that does not mean that you are beating the markets and obtaining more profits than those that are just holding, so if you can earn profits and beat the markets just keep trading but if this is not the case then it is a good idea to begin to consider if it is not simply a better option to become a bitcoin investor.

We have different ways how to make a profit either by day trading just a simple holding. For it to become profitable, the keys will be your way, your knowledge, your strategy.

Not because I'm getting more profits at holding, it means you will have the same experience and vice-versa.

When discussing issues like this, it is first important to note that it is relative, that is they are both good, what determines which is actually better is the one that works best for you after trying the two, that is investing and then trading. That is, you cannot say cryptocurrency trading is better when it is all that you have tried and have not tried investing, also you cannot say investing is better for you when it is all you have tried and you are too afraid to try trading probably because of other people's experience.

I might argue that investing is better and another might argue that trading is better, the truth is that we are both correct because we are speaking from different standpoints, our own point of view which has been directly influenced by the profit we have made from our choices.

Above all, what is most important is identifying the one that works for you and gives you profit and then sticking to it. What works for a certain Mr Z may not work for you and vice versa.

To me, putting faith in the market is risky but is the most fruitful if the risk pays of unlike daytrading where the aim is to beat the market or make a profit which is a really difficult thing to do because not everyone can really do it and it takes a lot of time compared to investing where you can just put your faith in it and hodl and wait for profit. Knowing your risk tolerance can help you decide what you're going to do next.

I do both of it a bit, not really a lot of trading though and I can say it is fun experiment. Nearly all of my money is in long term investments and it will stay that way for a very long time, however I have a small amount (like 100 bucks or so) that I trade but not the conventional way of trading, it is just the cake swap world where I invest into multiple small time small cap stuff and trade back and make some money from the spread as much as I can, it is not easy and I do lose money a lot of the times, but when I do make profit it is usually high enough to cover all the losses I made earlier, yet not a lot and sometimes even not enough.

This is why I am not turning into full time trader, it is just not worth enough for my time, you spend a lot of time and earn very little unless you are good at it, I rather not spend that much time on something I may end up losing money.

Making profits with hodling bitcoin depends on how long you intend to hold and how high the price of bitcoin moved in that particular period. This means that earning is actually out of your control (except knowing when to stop hodling of course). You do not control how much you get to make in that period.
Trading, however, is active and this means that you control all that happens. How long you want short or long, how much profits or loss you'd make with the leverages.
So if you intend to control how you make money, then it's best you do trading than hodling, although it is more risky than trading.

Since you are a day trader, I assume you can make a profit daily so maybe you can hold some funds to buy bitcoin at a low price and hold it for the long term. I am sure you can do that because you can still do a day trading and have the other bitcoin for your investment. It will give you more profit in the short and long term.

People who can not trade better will prefer to invest because they do not have to trade every day and do not have to think much about the market movements. But to become an investor, you need to have patience and control yourself because you will see the price will be up and down and if you do not have control, you can become panic and sell your bitcoin at a downtrend.

That makes me wonder that if you had invested in any other cryptocurrency like ethereum, you would have made more profits since it has shown noticeable growth in the last few years. Should I thus conclude that whether I should buy and hold or day trade should depend on the cryptocurrency that I am planning to invest my money in?

I think History of Bitcoin has proved that investing in Bitcoin for long term has given huge reward in term of capital gains but you need to have patience and faith in Bitcoin. If you have good technical skills the you can go for Day or swing trading and make entry exit based on signals generated by Technical Indicators, this way you make your living by need experience and good know how.

Depends on what your real goal is. If you want to profit in the long term then you just have to think that investing and holding some asset is the best way. Make sure bitcoin is included in your portfolio although you can include some other altcoin as well. I prefer investing over day trade because I don't have enough time to constantly monitor price movement. But if you can maximize the opportunities and profit from day trading, then it is still a good thing to do while you can also set aside the profit to invest in the long term.

Think of it this way, if you are day trading or even just trading from time to time in bitcoin or any other crypto, you are the one who decides the outcome of your investment, you are the one who is actively has an influence on whether to sell or buy at certain price thresholds, so you profit is kind of linked to how good of a trader you are, but with holding for a long term you really don't have that much of a choice but just to wait, so compared to trading you won't be making any significant profit.

I do not think that there is a correct answer. For some people both of them are good, for some people both of them are bad, for some people one of them is good and the other is bad, and that's why there is no good answer. Luckily I am good with investing, not that I do anything really I just buy bitcoin when I save some money aside, and that's it, that's literally it I don't do anything else, I do invest into other stuff as well, I have some eth and bnb too, and small amount like 50 bucks for few other places too but that's about it.

I believe there is a good chance I could be getting richer purely by luck because I rarely do anything really. However I am horrible at trading, I could literally lose money when things are going up, no idea how. So at the end of the day I picked what's right for me, but this could be impossible for you and can do something I believe impossible to do, it's all just personal.

If possible, I would suggest that you learn to both trade and invest in good cryptocurrencies in the market. At the rate the market is going in you wouldn't be able to reap nice rewards if you were to just learn one of both, and just in case. Profit is still profit, and honestly speaking I would always choose a small gain over no gain at all. You are spot on regarding the amount of control you have in trading compared to investing, but then again control doesn't usually equate to saving yourself from a big loss or securing a spot for a big win. The insurmountable amount of control traders have over their cash have some of them pull their trades way too early, thus causing them to miss out on a much bigger profit venture, or have them pull out late, hence causing them to lose cash in the process.

Holding bitcoin is profitable but you need to be endure with the market whether it would be a long crash within months or a painful market within a day.

Investment is something that will yield a lot of profit in a long period of time, and it is somehow not easy to "do nothing" for years, on paper to me it looks very easy, it is basically nothing, you literally do nothing, just buy and hold for 5 years and you are in profit by a big margin. Testing it is not easy neither, you have to buy and wait for years and see if it is good for you and if you like it.

However if you end up not being able to wait and sell when the price goes down that means you are not an investor. Also trading is easier to test to see if you will like it, just go out there and trade, if you like it then you like it, if you dislike it then you know it, it takes like a month to get a grip of things and you will either hate it and stop, or love it and learn more about it.

Hodling bitcoin for long won't increase the quantity of your bitcoin. You need to accumulate for it.

Trading requires a lot of time online and every day I can only be online for about 2 hours, with limited time making me prefer investing than trading, I will choose coins that have the potential to skyrocket at least 10 times a year and there are some that work.

that's exactly what our problems are when we have limited time online. although you could just set it up to bid/sell orders after analyzing the market. it's just not enough though because the market is just very unpredictable. it's one reason i'm just holding BTC when the market gets unpredictable like where we are at today. I could either go up or down abruptly. just holding is the best option when you only have limited time online or better yet move it to stablecoin.

It varies depending on people's aims. For example, I choose to invest into coins for a long time. So, I prefer to HODL the most. But some people like to get daily profit and they prefer daily trading. But I don't think that daily trading is really a good choice if you don't have too much money. I mean if someone asks me what are two of the most worthless known coins, I would have named DOGE & XRP from an investing point of view. I've been trying to figure it out but I'm having a loss at it so I quit. I'm into holding right now and it gives me a good profit and less risk of losing money. Agree to this since most in trading there are ton of opportunities to earn big but the problem with this is it is more risky than holding because anything could happen with trading . I think if you are busy and like working i think holding the crypto is better since trading takes time to learn and really you need to have time to focus on it. As my self i prefer holding since i really dont have time in my hands now since i am working but if i do have time i do risk my money to trading.

I think trading is better and can get big profit in the short term than investing, as we know that a lot of unexpected things in cryptocurrencies, I had a hard time during 2018-2020 and sold cheap all the coins I saved because I was worried the price would drop, if be patient to wait at least 6 months then I can get a big profit because the price has skyrocketed again since the end of 2020.

It all comes down to what suits you more and where are you more profitable with. There are good investors and good traders who both make a lot of money. We can't just say that one is better than the other. The two are very different from each other, so a good investor you would not necessarily be a good trader as well. I tried to do both but can not hold the coin which I have set for long term. There are so many scenarios where I get profit from the coin on day trading and I do see if I sell off the coin which I have kept for long term I would get profit. I will like to tell beginner's in cryptocurrency to buy Bitcoin and store for long time if the capital is there than buying a none legit project coin for trading

What you do is both risky, trading and investing, both have serious risks of losing.

For now what do you do and what knowledge you have, both of these things have their own ways and tricks to do it, if I ask you, I prefer investing, even though risky is not the same as trading, it's just that you monitor potential and cheap crypto in the market, investing in futures.

It depends on your preferences if this is a long term or a short term investment, if you are active on the market you can joy ride with the market volatility. But if you have a trust with bitcoin you can go for the long term and wait for your assets to get the designated profit you want. Yes It depends. Even many who day trade, will choose for a long term investment. Its up to individual. As said, If you confident on yourself and have experience and been successful in trading, then you can continue to do day trade. Like said its up to every individual to choose, but I think when you have the knowledge how to trade properly it can be more efficient then to HODL. Everyone who wants to go for trading can learn it, but he needs to do it right and with proper risk management. I see it on a friend of mine:
He is in a known and small group where he learns to trade right. You pay monthly for it, which is definitely worth it considering the amount he makes in a month. Sure to find and get in such a good group is not easy and fast, but he trades for a living now and gets every day better in it. Another point is, that the person needs to have time for it, when you can’t watch the market it can be dangerous to your trade. The crypto market is a fast living market, so you need to watch your trades.

As the investor side I think not only BTC is a long-term investment (depends on your knowledge on the market / upcoming gems or not) you can definitely go with the common one like ETH or upcoming FTM for example. Otherwise is Hodl over long term always better. Crypto can be relatively fast living which makes it “dangerous” or “very beneficial” in short term. But setting those stuff up for more than 2 years usually ends up in way more money than a “common” investment.

You could actually do both if you are really that capable but of course you do need funds too for you to invest on because this is the main requirement on dealing both things.

Holding takes time and also emotions since you are holding big amount of money and your emotions will takes place since if the price  goes down then you'll be wanting to sell your holdings and also knowledge is power since you dont have knowledge about bitcoin then you'll be selling earlier

I would choose investing for a long term rather than going for a short term. I have been into short term trading I mean on a day trading. I had to spend more time on it and at times over pressured to sell off at loss. Then decided to go for a long term trade. Purchased the best coins in the market and kept them on a wallet and decided to take out / sell out when there is an ATH or it has reached to an extend that I have a reasonable profit. Now I am at peace just watching the market once in a day.

this kind of thing for professional traders is a common thing but it's not all like that,
so for newbies don't try it because the risk is big for sure

Both will make you money and can also cause you to regret your action. Do not get involved in any of them if you do not know what you are doing, do not go into trading if you are not trained for it. If am to advise you I will say go for investing. It is better than trading. That is the option I like to take. well, I feel that holding is still one of the principles of trading. however, if it is different, then, I also tend to do holding rather than trading. Sometimes what we think is good and profitable can still be detrimental, especially when we can't control our emotions when the market doesn't go as expected. In addition, failure to implement security for storage wallets is also something that can make this investment fail.

It's true that the purpose of investing is to make a profit, but we really have to take responsibility for our own investments including risk management and wallet security. There is always a risk in investing and this is something that needs to be carefully considered.

Trading and investing are both profitable but also involved with a higher risk. It actually depends on your goal,your risk appetite and how much time you are able to commit.If your goal is to earn in short-term,then trading is a ood option for you. However,trading can be a bit risky but it  also gives you a higher returns. All you need is patience and knowledge. Trading needs time and practice in order for you to become successful when making trades.If you prefer for long term, then you can go for investment. It is a long term goal that has no immediate result like trading.But it also gives you a short term-gain (small returns).Actually,you can do both and see which you are more comfortable ..Goodluck !

Investors are gaining passively and the investment is maturing but requires a lot of time. I prefer this than to trade. I may suck in trading but in my experience, investing is more profitable.

Whilst the others, they're making their best deals of their life through trading and hopefully someday, we can be like them.

Many few people? That part sounds confusing to me but id say that there is more people that knows the difference between trading and investing. When we say trading, people automatically thinks that they are buying and selling daily or more often but when we say investing, people will assume that we only buy and sell at rare times.

Those few people that didn't know this or wont agree with this fact are maybe thinking that investing and trading are both the same because both involves buying and selling. I think that's somehow true but that was only it. The time or the duration if how long will they buy and sell, still matters the most.

Is there no strategy that you follow while investing? Do you simply buy at a low price and sell whenever the price rises?

Having your investment or trades planned beforehand is usually very helpful to make informed decisions. If you are randomly opening a position and keeping it open until the value increases it never makes you profitable in the long run, because there’s no strategy involved.

Definitely! Even if you are just buying and holding, you still need to have a plan about the time frame you are going to keep an asset and that time frame should come from in depth analysis.

It's a high-risk process if you are unsure of what you are doing, but with good knowledge grow in your initial investment is way faster.

With Investing, as long as you did with your research and you are fully convinced that what you are holding do have good future success, all you have to do is wait till things turned into reality.

Trading is profitable if you know what you do.

But it's not for the people that just started to know how it's being done.

Just do both of it. You trade while having an asset to hold such as bitcoin. You don't touch that holding you have and instead you're buying more for you to have more holdings. As you profit in trading, it's your strategy that will prolong your capital there.

Good strategy! if you can spare some of your investment into trading and experienced how the market works and keep other portions into investment, you'll be able to enjoy both venues. It's a matter of good choice and right decision making. If you know how to play in the market, the chance or the opportunity is good.

Take time to understand and make sure to go deeper. It will help you a lot in choosing the right venue that will give you more benefits.

Keep in mind as well that risk is also on both sides of this investment.

Newbies are taking it too quick and they want the shortcut but it's not the best way to deal with both of it.

Yes, they are both good for profit making but they require your personal research to make them successful in future. Trading help you to make a choice either to sell to make a good profit or wait for the market price to increase higher not to experience losses in the market. Investment is different from trading because it is what you achieve that you will use to invest to prepare for a brighter future. And it takes a long time to achieve something good from investment because everyone want to make a good profit by giving their investment a long time before the can sell to make a huge amount of money when the price of coins increase higher in the market. Investment is good for those who cannot exercise patient in their trading, so that the spirit that is making them to experience failure in trading can give them victory in investment.

Right. Risk will always exist in any investment method, whether trading or as a asset holder. If we decide to invest long term (as a holder) and trade, then before doing those two things we must be ready to face the risks and prepare a solution.

1. As a long-term holder. we must be careful and do various research before buying coins that we will make as an investment vehicle. For example Bitcoin or Ethereum. And to buy it, we can't directly buy it using our money in full at one time and at the current price. To minimize losses due to falling prices on investment assets, we can make purchases by means of DCA. In this way the average purchase price that we get will be profitable for us.

2. Traders must master analysis and Money Management so that trading activities are carried out smoothly or with low risk.

80% we put into long-term investment (asset hold) and 20% go into trading. I think this is the best ratio.

The others will do 50-50 on it.

But on whichever ratio you're too confident and you'll grow it, that's going to be the ratio that you must follow because you think that it'll grow your money.

In long term holding, you also need to be good in picking the cryptos that you shall hold long. Bitcoin and Ethereum are no brainers but still, I see people who have been leaning on their altcoins that are not even popular and got a little value for long term.
