hello....i used google 2fa as primary password. now i cant send btc because google autheticator was uninstalled from my android.
tried reinstall google autheticator but i dont have a backup of it and the stupid authenticator just want to create a new when i install it.

i dont have the seed to electrum.

but i have the electrum in front of me with my btc viewable.

was able to locate the wallet file.named walletelectrum..

can i decrypt this file, this format --->mk9y4pONBDQWw80fv/59sIvYJiMPpLwqFs
into a readable seed.?

i usually dont do stupid things like this, but we kind of messed up recently.

or are there any google autheticator pros, that knows exactly how to recover a google authenticator account without a backup.

No, the wallet file is encrypted with your password and can only be decrypted using it.
And for 2fa Electrum wallets, even if you managed to decrypt the wallet file, it only have 1 out of 3 private key of the 2-of-3 MultiSig addresses.
It's useless without the seed phrase or the 2fa device.

I don't know how you managed to not have it, but this is bad. Maybe you can search harder?


This doesn't matter, anybody who knows your address(es) can see how much money is there (but they will still not be able to spend).


None of the info is useful. And there's no "pros who can recover" this kind of encrypted things without the info meant for backup. Else everybody could recover everybody's authenticator, or bitcoin or whatever.


Try to find your Electrum seed. Then you'll have a valid starting point.

To recover, you will need either:

- Your wallet file+password+Google 2fa
or
- Your 12 word seed

Given that you've lost your 12 word seed, then your only option is if you still have access to the email address that you used to setup your 2fa wallet, then contact TrustedCoin from that email address and explain your situation.

They have helped other users in the past by allowing them to reset and resetup the Google Authenticator so they can regain access to their wallet funds.

You do not backup your seed phrase, that is a very big mistake. But you have the electrum in front of you with your btc viewable? Which means you can still access your electrum wallet with password and see your Bitcoin balance, right? If so click on wallet on your electrum wallet, then click on seed, enter your password, you will be able to seed your seed phrase.

Multisig wallet on Electrum is a 2-of-3 multisig, when your first created it, one of the keys is managed by TrustedCoin for making transaction, while 1 is managed by you for making transaction also. But there are three keys, the 3rd one is still managed by you which you can gain access to for making transaction if you restore the wallet, you will be able to bypass the 2fa.

It's not possible to see the seed phrase in a 2FA wallet.
If electrum shows the seed phrase in a 2FA wallet, you would only need the wallet file and the password for spending the fund and that would defeat the purpose of a 2FA wallet.

As shown in the image below, the "Seed" option is grayed out in a 2FA wallet.

In addition to the above reply: if you can see the 'Seed' menu in your test, you must have tested a 2fa wallet with disabled 2fa authenticator.
Disabled 2fa wallets have the seed option enabled (it has 2 xprv, 1 xpub, seed).

The "third key" is in the seed but wont be included to the 2fa wallet during wallet creation (it only has 1 xprv, 2 xpub, no seed).
So the seed phrase or the third key can't be recovered from the 2fa wallet with active 2fa, otherwise it will defeat the purpose of 2fa.

Yes, you are correct, the last I tested was 2-of-2 multisig using Electrum wallet, one on my mobile device and the other on my laptop, the seed phrase was available and seen. But with 2fa enabled on Electrum wallet, the seed phrase was truly not available, I have not tested it before until yesterday to find out what hosseinimr93 commented to be true.

This means bobhun1 needs to contact TrustedCoin with the email used to setup the wallet as he/she does not have the 2fa backup.
